Good Evening, all my lovely Lads and Ladies!
Decided to finish up this chapter and post it before I go to bed, got an early shift at work tomorrow so I need my sleep!
Due to this, I have not proofread it as much as I normally would. So there might be a few errors, should only be minor ones and I apologize for them now. If there are any major changes that need to be made I'll be sure to repost the chapter with a nice edit notice up top!
Not quite sure how many chapters I've got left, the movie kinda forces me to jump from what I like to call 'remix night' to finals (since Donald openly states that the ICAAs are the weekend after Bumper leaves).
But never fear! nothing will be rushed and I plan to at least go a little past the ICAAs, I'm considering maybe releasing the last of the story in one mega chapter (like 7000-10000 words) but I'm not certain yet.
ANYWAYS, enough of my rambling, if you've read all of this and haven't skipped to the actual story content yet, then Thanks! If you wanna PM me a name (any name that isn't something ridiculous) I'll do my best to incorporate as many names as I can into future content!
NOW LET THE STORY COMMENCE!
"Alright let's remix this business." Beca and the Bellas walked into the abandoned pool hole where the riff-off had taken place. The brunette felt like the riff-off took place ages ago, even though it had only been a few months. Beca felt like such a different person than the closed off, emotionally stunted freshman that she was when this all started. Now she had all these great friends, she had Jesse, but more importantly she had Chloe. She had a best friend that, despite her best efforts, couldn't be pushed out of her life. She finally had someone that she thought-no she knew- would be around for the long haul. "Um…" Beca thought she should ask Chloe what song she would like to sing but decided that Aubrey was the one she needed to prove herself to so she asked the blonde. "Aubrey, would you pick a song for us, please?"
Aubrey didn't hesitate, she knew that Beca would pick Chloe to take the lead and that meant the blonde knew what song to pick. "Bruno Mars, Just the Way You Are." It was a song that she felt both the red head and the brunette needed to hear right now. When it came down to it, Aubrey knew that her best friend had found something special and she needed to help Chloe in whatever way she could.
"Okay. Um… Chloe, are you okay to take the lead?"
"Yeah." Chloe let a smile spread across her face as she started singing, she couldn't help but feel like she was singing the song for Beca. She was perfect, sure she could be emotionally closed off sometimes, but it wasn't because she didn't care. It was because she sometimes cared too much. So the older woman locked eyes with Beca as she sang for her.
Oh, her eyes, her eyes
Make the stars look like they're not shinin'
Her hair, her hair
Falls perfectly without her trying
She's so beautiful
And I tell her everyday
Beca loved hearing Chloe sing, she loved how she put her heart, her soul, and her very essence into every syllable and every beat. As soon as Chloe said that she would lead, Beca knew what song to mash in.
(Uh, uh)
(I was thinkin' bout her, thinkin' bout me)
I know, I know
(Thinkin' bout us, what we gonna be)
When I compliment her she won't believe me
(Open my eyes yeah, it was only just a dream)
It's so, it's so
Sad to think that she don't see what I see
But every time she asks me do I look okay,
(It was only just a dream)
I say
When I see your face
(So I traveled back, down that road)
(Will she come back, no one knows)
Not a thing that I would change
(I realize yeah, it was only just a dream)
Cause you're amazing,
Just the way you are
(It was only just a dream)
For the first time since she joined the Bellas, Beca felt like they were all working together as friends and as a team. Before this moment the only other time she had actually felt like they were cooperating was the riff off, but now they had finally found a comfortable form of harmony where everything seemed to be aligned perfectly. If they performed like this without practice, she knew that they could win the championships.
When I see your face
(So I traveled back, down that road)
(Will she come back, no one knows)
Not a thing that I would change
(I realize yeah, it was only just a dream)
Cause you're amazing,
Just the way you are
(It was only just a dream)
When I see your face (face)
The girls all felt great, and after a surprise due to Chloe's messed up vocal chords and Lily speaking at an audible volume, they all started to leave. "Hey pitches! I know how to celebrate!"
Aubrey piped up because she knew where this was going. "Amy, please don't say-"
"SHOTS!" Amy roared as she pumped both fists into the air. Most of the girls seemed ecstatic as well, with only a couple seeming to be okay with the idea but not quite as excited.
"Oh yeah! That sounds great! Aubrey and I will host, we've got some tequila and rum in our apartment already!" Chloe latched onto Beca as she said this, remembering the last time that that they all had gotten drunk together. She hoped that tonight would end with a similar closet situation.
After Chloe locked arms with Beca, she got her normal warm and fuzzy feeling that she would get from physical contact with the red head. "Yeah it sounds fun." Beca couldn't help but reminisce about her closet experience at their last party.
Oh god, what if we play truth or dare again? What if I end up in the closet with Chloe again? It got so steamy. Wait no, stop it Mitchell. You just got Chlo back in your life, you can't jeopardize that by pushing your relationship's boundaries like that again. Could you? Stop it, stop it, stop it. Chloe is your friend, your best friend and that's it. But on the other hand, she did make an awful lot of eye contact with you while she was singing. Almost like she was singing to you, for you. No, that… no… nope. Oh jeez, now you've missed like all of what Bree was saying. Wait did I just call her Bree? Shit, I'm starting to actually like her. Damn.
"-and absolutely no alcohol in my bedroom. As long as you all follow these rules, I am more than happy to host tonight. Oh, and NO truth or dare again! That got way to out of hand last time."
Stacie piped up to put her two sense in. "Thanks Chloe and Beca, if you two hadn't gotten so hot and heavy in the closet we would totally be playing truth or dare again."
Chloe and Beca both blushed profusely. Chloe stuttered for a moment before Beca came back with a response. "We were both pretty well wasted, it's not like you didn't kiss some people either. Not to mention the whole 'rooftop' incident."
"Hey that was great and you know it, don't make me take my sexy fat ass back up there tonight!"
"Listen girls, it doesn't matter who's 'fault' it is. No truth or dare, and nothing on the roof Amy." Aubrey did not want another talk with their landlord.
"Fine Aubrey, but we gotta do something to stay entertained!"
The Bellas all headed back to the seniors' apartment where Fat Amy immediately got the tequila and Captain Morgan out and set up a row of shots, one for everyone. Chloe tackled Beca onto the couch, just like last time. She was giggling while she was on top of her with her red locks hanging over the brunettes face and her ice blue eyes stared down at Beca but where far from ice cold. They filled the tiny brunette with a warmth that she only get from Chloe. The only difference was none of the other girls called them out on it this time, they let them stay there for several minutes until the two of them rearranged themselves and sat next to each other. The entire time they sat like they were joined at the hip and they continuously would play with each other's hands when they thought the other women wouldn't notice.
After the first round of shots, Denise suggested they played a drinking game. Cynthia Rose supplied a 20 Questions variant; after a short explanation, everyone agreed to play it with Cynthia Rose starting.
"Alright bitches, let's start with Stacie. How many people have you had sex with?"
"Fifty two." This response stifled many 'wows' and general shocked expressions. They all knew Stacie got around a bit but they had no clue that she liked sex that much. "Fat Amy, what kind of alcohol gets you drunk the fastest?"
"Oh that's easy, vodka. No question. That stuff really messes with my aca-liver." Stacie gave a wild grin and turned around and grabbed her backpack that she had picked up on the way to Aubrey and Chloe's apartment. She opened it and pulled a large bottle of clear liquid out. "Oh no mates, I don't think I can handle that." She paused for a moment. "You know what? Fuck it. Stacie fill me up, you twig bitch!" Stacie took Fat Amy's glass and filled it nearly to the brim with vodka and passed it back. Fat Amy took a large gulp and then asked her question. "Chloe, who is your best friend?"
"Beca." Chloe respond without hesitating, not really thinking about how Aubrey might reacting after learning that Beca had officially stolen the spot of best friend from her. Everyone except Chloe, Aubrey, and Beca responded with laughter and some shocked expressions. Beca blushed, while Chloe also reddened and turned towards the blonde with an apologetic look. "Aubrey I-"
Aubrey hadn't really shown any expression but she cut Chloe off with a chuckle. "Save it Chloe, I've known since hood night, that I lost that spot. I probably knew it before you did.
Chloe let a smile spread across her face. "Aww Bree, you didn't lose that spot! You and Becs share that spot! It's just… you know." Chloe got flustered and really hoped that Aubrey knew what she was getting at so she didn't have to say anymore.
"Yeah, I know Chlo."
"Come on, Red. I told you the rules earlier, no talkin in between questions!" Cynthia Rose piped up, she had let the red head explain herself so it wasn't too awkward but since it wasn't necessary, apparently. So she tried to get the girl back on track.
"Sorry! Sorry, sorry, okay hmmm…. BECA!" Chloe said with a giant grin, which received a less than thrilled response from the smaller girl. Chloe could tell that the freshman was actually pleased because of the smile she was battling to keep off her face. The smile was winning. "Alright, have you ever had a toner for another girl?" Chloe prayed she got the right answer.
Beca looked over at CR with a slightly worried look on her face. "So it's answer the question or drink right?"
"Yeah, you got it short-stack."
"Drink." Beca didn't even let Cynthia Rose finish her sentence before she replied and grabbed the bottle of vodka from the center of the group. Beca's lack of an answer caused a slightly disappointed look to land on Chloe's face but she perked back up seconds later.
"Goin fer the hard… uh… stuff? Eh smallfry?" Fat Amy slurred, her earlier glass of vodka clearly affecting her like she said it would.
"Yeah, I'm going to need it if I'm getting through the rest of the game." She replied as she filled her glass.
CR spoke up again. "Alright Red, since Beca drank that means you get to ask again. Remember it's got to be a different one of us and a new question."
"Okay then, Bree! What…"
Aubrey denied answering Chloe's question as well, and after that things started to spiral downhill with less and less questions getting answered. Within four rounds, all of the girls where pretty well trashed. The only exceptions were those who could hold their liquor very well which consisted of Cynthia Rose, Stacie, and Jessica, surprisingly. By this point, the women weren't sober enough to play their drinking game well so they started just having a generally good time, without a drinking game. Fat Amy, Stacie, and Jessica convinced Aubrey to get out some movies to put on. Lily, like last time, disappeared without a trace. Denise was lying in the hallway, passed out with her drink still in hand. Ashley was in the kitchen, seemingly stunned speechless by the ice maker in the refrigerator's door. Cynthia Rose was at the kitchen table with the half empty bottle of vodka. Still drinking, but now without a glass. Beca and Chloe had remained at their spot on the couch.
"Hey Becssss?"
"Yes bootiful?" Neither Beca nor Chloe could help but slur their words together. They were both so intoxicated that they were just having a hard time remaining conscious.
"Who's Bootiful? And why is you talken to that slut and not me." Chloe sat there for a moment with a pout on her face. Beca, meanwhile, was giggling uncontrollably. "Oh wait. Haha, I got it! I'm bootiful cause I'm pretty, cause you theenk I'm pretty… AWWW! Becs you think I'm pretty?!" The realization made Chloe straighten up from her slouched position and looked straight at her couch-mate. As she finished speaking she took both hands and glued them to Beca's cheeks, squishing her face forwards slightly.
"Yeah, like of course. Like I… uh… I wish I wus as pertty as you. Like when I see yer face… I'm all like… damn and den I'm like whoa and den I'm…" Beca trailed off, due to her barely conscious self being unable to finish her thought.
"That's sew sweet of you! Such a sweet midget." Chloe took one of her hands off of Beca and started to pat the top of the brunette's head with it. They both sat there silently, staring into each other's eyes. Suddenly Fat Amy launched herself onto the ground in between the couch and television, startling both Chloe and Beca.
The girls that had yet to pass out or disappear gathered back around the television to watch a movie. None of them were sure what movie had been picked, as Fat Amy had grabbed the first DVD case she could find. It ended up being Rush Hour, to which none of them complained. The all sat together watching the movie, laughing during most of it. Even when they weren't actually doing anything funny in the movie, the girls still found a reason to laugh. Slowly the other women started to drop like the rest and eventually everyone was asleep after a great night.
The next couple days were a flurry of events and preparations. Chloe and Beca would get together at least once a day, they'd talk and get something to eat and usually spend several hours just being together in a comfortable and drama-void state. Then one of them would have class or work or something that they had to go do, so they'd say their goodbyes and then spend the next several hours missing one another. Then, as soon as the other one was available, they would get back together. They spent their time laughing and talking, but also sometimes in just a relaxed silence. Beca would spend their 'silent time,' to which they had named accurately it, working on mixes, preparing the performance for finals, and studying for the exams that followed the acapella competition only two short weeks later. Chloe, on the other hand, spent this time playing with the brunette's hair, daydreaming about what it would be like to have an actual, committed relationship with the freshman, and occasionally studying. Chloe had already taken measures to fail Russian Literature so that way she could return the next fall and maybe, just maybe, be with Beca instead of just being friends with Beca.
By Friday, the Bellas had all managed to somehow pull together a completely new set full with kickass choreography and vocals to boot. The Aca-World was going to be shocked tomorrow night; but more importantly the Bellas' world was going to flip, turn upside down.
Okay so, that whole story commencing thing was dumb sorry.
Also sorry for the lame Fresh Prince of Bel Air reference, I couldn't help it.
Anyways, hope you all enjoyed the chapter! As always please leave a review, I love reading your response and inputs!
I took a little longer than I wanted to get this chapter out, but hey it's a lot better than the space between chapters 8 and 9! Am I right?
So yeah um I think thats it, should have a nice surprise for you all on Dec/24 if everything goes according to my plans!
See you next time!
