Chapter 10- Homecoming Heroes
"Thank you again for the dinner, you guys." Adam gave them a small smile before reaching for the door and opening it wide. "Wait." Linda called out to them while coming around the corner from the kitchen with a white bag full of empty containers and stained paper towels. "I have to take out the trash so I'll walk you to the elevator." She says to Adam, brushing pass both men before they could say a word. Adam shakes Greg's hand and follows his wife out of the door. He catches up to her and makes a grab for the trash bag, but Linda moves it to her other side. "Nope. Too slow" she grins, sharing a small laugh with him.
"Will it be awkward?" she asks him while they go down the hallway towards the trash chute. "You know, being around her?"
Adam didn't think twice before answering. "No, I don't think it will. We're both adults and yes, there was history there, but this is not the time or place to think about those things."
"Is there a time or place to better discuss this?"
"Not that I can think of" they came to a door that Adam opened politely before entering the stairway. Linda opens the outside door and holds it for him to take while she opens the small metal flap to the trash chute. "I can only speak for myself, but I know that this situation that we had? Its in a closed book state with me."
Linda threw the trash and walked back into the stairway doors with him. "She wouldn't talk about this at the wedding, would she?" she asks. Adam shook his head. "No. She cares deeply about my brother and my sister in law to make any type of scene on a big day such as this. Our past is just now thoughts in passing."
"The past, all good or bad memories and situations, surface eventually. It's just words at this very moment. Our conduct, our actions? that is what reflects our true meaning behind our thoughts. I hope you keep that in mind, Adam."
Linda opens the door back to the hallway. She smiles warmly at Adam when she notices his stillness. "It was outstanding having you over, Adam. Next time? Please tell Maxine to come as well. Have a goodnight, Adam"
"Thank you again, Linda and I'll pass on the message." he finally says to her before she closes the door behind her. "If she's even talking to me yet" he shares silently before opting out of the elevator ride, preferring the stairs.
He knew his actions would be as they were now, but he could not speak for Fiona. Adam knew his place in their shared history and hoped she could only see it the same. He knew he would have to speak to her once he got there, yet he was a bit tongue tied about what exactly to say.
Adam drives his car right up to the front entrance of his luxury apartment; of which he knew he paid way too much rent for, but was surprised by how much he liked it now after 2 and plus years. "Good evening, Mister Torres" he heard from the parking attendant, who gave him a polite smile while walking around to the driver side of his black BMW m4. He had given them a spare set of keys to the car, therefore allowing them whenever he was too tired from working long hours, to park his car. Now with an exhausted Adam coming home almost every night, it was a daily ritual for him. He was liked by the majority of the parking attendants since his regard for them reflected well in tip form.
He greeted the doorman before stepping into the main lobby, taking a right towards the private tenant elevators. He took out the key he had been issued for his apartment and the only way to open the elevator, out of his pocket. So it was a shock to him to see his assistant coming out of the elevator, holding a few things in his hands.
"David?" Adam uttered, startling the inferior man who was trying his best to secure the items in his hands before they dropped to the floor in a loud thud. "What are you doing here, David?" Adam looked down as David started to pick up the press board folders off the floor, making no attempt to help him. He was business Adam again; as he always was at work. He did not socialize with anyone that he didn't have to. That included his assistant David, who had only been on the payroll for 6 months. He knew he was seen as a cold individual when this personality came out, but it got the job done while simultaneously helping him by not having to put himself out there as much or have his life become gossip for his lesser employees. A useful tool that now made the nervous man in front of him stand up straighter, mimicking a soldier greeting his higher ranking official.
"Hello Mister Torres uhh sir I was just-"
"Why are you coming from what I assume was my apartment." Adam stating his words more than asking.
"Maxine uhh was giving me some things to do while you're away, sir. I-I was just picking them up and leaving now, sir" Adam could feel David's throat drying in front of him and almost let out a chuckle before relaying his stuttering words. "Interesting" he spoke out loud to no one. "Ok well like I told you at work this morning, any important situations come up with our project for the new Logren financial building, you call me immediately" David nodded relentlessly at Adam's threatening words. Adam gave him a nod for him to take his leave. "Have a safe trip, Mister Torres. See y-you in a week, sir."
David let out a heavy sigh of relief as he started to walk again, now feeling his feet once more. That was short lived as he heard his name being called again from across the lobby. Turning, he looked at his boss once more. "She should always be addressed by you as Miss Ward. Never Maxine. Remember that very well, David or I'll find someone else who will." Adam turned the key to call the elevator down. "Have a good night and a good week." He added once the elevator doors opened and he stepped in. Adam thought he saw the precise time dread fell over David at the mention of his job.
Adam knew his assistant's week would be a vacation for him as well since he was leaving for Drew's wedding.
"Maxie?" Adam says from the doorway of the elevator before coming into the empty kitchen. He places his keys on the kitchen island before walking further into his apartment. He looks into the living room and dining room area, both empty. The curtains to the window were open, inviting in the view of Chicago at night. He notices the lights are on. "Maxine, are you here?" he says again.
"Hey" he hears, seeing Maxine walk in from the hallway, her hair still wet from the shower she must have finished taken a few minutes back. Her towel sits around her neck as she rubs it on her short wet brunette locks. Her pajama shorts and loose fitting shirt she borrowed from him cling to her; a little wet from her skin. She takes a seat at one corner of their dark navy couch. Adam take off his suit jacket, placing it behind the couch before rounding the corner to join her on the other side, leaving room in between for the silver throw pillows that accentuated the couch. They stayed in silence for a few minutes, Adam undoing his tie and a few buttons while Maxine turned on the TV to flip through channels. "How was dinner?" Maxine finally breaks the cold chill that had overtaken them. "It was good. They asked where you were. I didn't say much about that, only that I hadn't seen you in a few days."
"Blamed it on work?" she asked when she turned to look at him. Adam shrugged.
"Where were you staying at for these past three days?"
"The Peninsula" she responds, Adam almost showing a bit of concern about her answer. He gave her a nod. "Look Maxie, I wanted to-"
"Stop right there" she cut him off. Placing the remote back on the center table, she turned fully to face him. "Before you start off saying sorry, I have to say one thing." Adam nods at her to go on. "You surprised me"
Adam's eyebrows shot up. "I thought it was obvious when I asked you."
"You spring that question on me so soon and I was…" she sighs. "I was very happy you did actually. It was a nice surprise, but a surprise nonetheless." She drops the towel from her neck onto the love seat on the other side of where they sat. "I shouldn't even give you an answer for springing this on me so suddenly. I gave myself time, hence the three days." She keeps her eye contact with him. "I needed to make sure this was a good idea. I wanted to see the real meaning behind what you were proposing. I've seen how you are since we met. How cold you come out to so many people, but still sweet and gentle to those you let in. I wanted to know which Adam was popping this question and why. If it was just an idea that crept into your head or a genuine thought. The more I pondered it, the more I came to the same conclusion and to the same answer."
Adam studies her. Her Nordic blue eyes, her well sculpted eyebrows, her semi dry hair, her naturally pink lips that didn't need the smudge she always put on them for work. All of her was unreadable, but he knew she was reading him. She was one of the few that could now. She smiles at him and he smiles back.
"Yes"
"Yes?" he blinked, repeating her answer. Maxine nodded.
"Of course, you silly man!" she laughed as she saw the relief flush from under his stern face. Adam joins her laugh before getting closer and hugging her. She puts her arms around him, resting her head on his shoulders. "You won't regret this" she hears him say. She mumbles something unintelligible into him as they pull apart.
"Do you need any help?" Bianca asks Audra. Fiona was behind her as they made their way into the kitchen. Audra looks at both of them before looking around the room. She gives them a nod. "Bianca, you can go ahead with the sauce. Just be careful with your clothes, sweetie." Bianca walked over to the pot of the tomato based sauce and grabbed the wooden spoon that sat across it. She stood far away as the bubbles started to pop. Audra was not kidding she thought while she stir the sauce around.
Audra looks over at her future daughter in law and smiles. Her oldest son could not have picked a better bride. She laughs at the way these two were doing everything in reverse, with having Omar first and now getting married, but she knows that's how their relationship was. She didn't expect them now to be going for any traditional road. She looked over at Fiona now. "Fiona sweetie, would you grab those carrots right there and wash them before peeling and cutting them, please?"
"No problem, Mrs. Torres."
"Audra, please. We've known each other too long for you not to call me by my first name" Audra said before giving her a warm smile. Fiona smiled back at the older woman before taking the carrots that were on the kitchen counter over to the sink. She felt Audra's eyes on her. They had shared so much now since the moment Audra found out about Fiona's loss pregnancy. The warmness she wanted from her mother was given to her by Adam's. Fiona could not blame her mother for her hostility when she told them about her pregnancy after her divorce, knowing the control her father was wielding over her. What had surprised her was Audra being by her side and never leaving her alone since. They regularly talked on the phone, wanting to know what the other person was doing. She had never verbally confessed why her and Adam no longer talked, though Fiona suspected she must know why. It helped her heal knowing she had support from someone Fiona once thought hated her. Things really do change she thinks as she peels the last carrot before taking them over to the cutting board.
"So did you hear from my sons yet?" Audra says while she puts the lasagna in the hot oven.
"Yeah I did." Bianca replies as she takes out her phone from the back pocket of her jeans. "Drew says he will stop by the hotel where Declan and Holly J are staying to drop off his luggage before picking up Holly J. Then all three are coming this way."
"Three of them? And Adam?"
"Drew said they had landed but took off to pick up a rental car?"
"Really? He's not going to drive his truck? It's right outside. I had Eli bring it over earlier." Audra looks over at Bianca who just shrugs. She sighs and puts the eggplant scraps into the trash can. She walks over to Fiona who was done chopping the carrots and was now moving on to the celery. She watches her for a brief moment and wonders what the young woman thought of all this Adam talk. She could sense a rigidness from Fiona, but now it resembled more as a sense of excitement. "Finished?" she asks, getting a nod and a small smile from Fiona.
"You must be excited" Audra says as she took the vegetables to the unprepared salad that she was going to put together just as everyone arrived.
Fiona's eyes widen at the words. "For your brother to be flying out" Audra adds. Fiona nods before breathing once more. Why would I be excited over my brother who I see almost daily? she told herself right as the front door opened. "Anyone home?" Drew yells.
"Coming" Audra said, wiping her hands on the towel she had on her shoulder before going through the doors of the kitchen and into the living room. Fiona went with her, followed by Bianca.
"Hey sis" Declan greets her. She hugs him and moves around so everyone can greet each other. Holly J comes around and stands next to her. "Look who we found outside just as we pulled in."
"Hey there!" she hears Clare. She smiles and walks over to the shorter woman. Clare's hair was now longer, passing her shoulder. She had it up in a loose ponytail. Her dress was casual, but accentuated her chest well. "God, Fi! You look great!" Clare remarks. If it was anyone else, Fiona would have rolled her eyes, but she knew her friend was sincere in her compliment.
"Propmaster!" They both hear from behind. Clare grunts before turning to the only person that called her that. She looks at Declan, his layered haircut was styled as if he had just ran his fingers through it this morning, but she knew him and could only guest how long he had taken to get it to look like that. He holds her in a tight hug, almost knocking the wind out of her. "Stop with the nickname!" she whines once she gets her lungs to work again. "Never" he grins his boyish smile before winking at his sister.
"Oh don't get on her bad side, Declan. She's feistier than ever" Eli says as he steps inside the house. Fiona looks at him and waves. He gives her a smirk before walking over and hugging her. Fiona had not only gotten close to Audra, but Eli as well. He still had Adam's back for everything, Fiona knew, but his held grudge for her was now long gone. "How are you?" Eli asks her once they pull apart. She smiles at him. "I'm good." It had been a few weeks since they had last seen each other. He nods in understanding before greeting Audra and Bianca.
"Where is this boy?" Audra says after everyone had settled around the living room and was having small conversations. "Drew, what did he say to you? Did he say what time he was going to be here? Call him and ask."
"Mom, relax" Drew laughed, placing his drink on the table. "He said they would be here shortly. They just needed to get a rental car and take care of something"
There it was again Fiona thought. She wanted to vocalize what she was thinking, but didn't want all eyes on her. Her friends and family had done a good job of avoiding asking her about Adam, but she could not stop thinking about how she was going to react or say to him. She felt her blood begin to boil. She help her glass of water tighter until her fingertips lost their color.
"Wait" she heard Clare say, stopping the conversation she was having with Holly J. "Drew, what did he say again?"
Drew exhaled and took out his phone. He went to his text messages and clicked on his brother. "He said We'll be there shortly. That was around ten minutes ago so nothing to worry about."
"What does he-" They saw bright white lights shine into the living room window, cascading the whole room in white before turning red. Audra stood from her chair and walked over to the front door, followed by Drew and everyone else while Fiona took her time.
Adam closes the passenger side door and walks over to the curb. He saw the front door open and puts on a wide smile. His mom came down the steps as he walked towards her. Adam felt her engulf him in a huge hug. "Honey" he heard from his shoulder. "Hey mom" he says once they pulled apart. She gave him a kiss on his cheek before looking at him more closely. "Your hair. It's long."
He laughs. It had been a few weeks since his last haircut, but his mom was exaggerating his length. It was nowhere near his shoulders for her to say it was long. Of course it was a bit longer than how he usually wore it, but once he prepared himself for work in the mornings, there was no big difference other than a little more length. He could now say his smile was genuine from his mother's comment.
"Doesn't look like you picked up a razor either" he heard Drew say from behind. "It's a shadow, Andrew. Just calm down." he jokes before hugging his older brother. Both men pull apart as Bianca hugged him. "It suits you" she adds. Adam shook his head. He saw Eli coming down and walks over to him. "Mhmm you sir, look just like my best friend, only a more manly version" Eli teases.
"Ha ha ha, Goldsworthy." Adam wraps the shorter man in a bear hug, only releasing him once he says hello to Clare. "You look great" he tells her, a warm feeling reminding him of how much he misses his friends.
"Hi Declan." Adam holds out his hand for the man, but is surprised by the hug he got instead. "Hey Adam." Declan patted him in the back before making way for Holly J.
"Well if it isn't Mrs. Coyne" he waits for her rebuttal to their usual joke, but she only smiles and hugs him. He feels her resistance but hugs her, pulling back right away.
Adam saw the front door open. The shadow blocks the inside lights from shining onto the group. He saw the figure come down the steps and looks around as everyone parts for her.
Fiona saw the exchanges between the group and knew she would have to say hello. She took a deep breath before moving a bit closer. She looks at him. His hair was longer like she heard Audra say and a small stubble was on his face, but he still looked the same.
Adam did not take in her appearance or let his mind wander. He straightens his shoulders and stands there as she came closer.
The same man from before and the same man that she hated. His eyes penetrated Fiona, but did nothing more than stay on her. They were cold to her. The warmness he must have showed everyone else was gone. He stood there, his lips a thin line. "Hi" he says to her, Fiona noticing his voice matched his eyes. "Hello, Adam." she could play this cold game just as well if not better. She stretches out her hand, but made no attempt to move closer. He walks a few steps forward and grips her hand. "Hello, Fiona" he says, almost robotic.
Adam shakes her hand and she feels something in her stomach, but quickly pushes it down. He retreats from her, Fiona thinking for a moment it was because he felt that same flutter that she had chosen to kill. Nothing was readable on his face. She is flustered at this. She could always read him, but now he was untouchable to her stare.
"So why didn't you come with your brother? I was so worried." his mom broke the awkwardness around them. "Oh!" Adam completely forgot his cold demeanor once he remembers.
He hears the car stop running. The door slamming from behind them brought a smile to his face; He catches a glimpse of Fiona in his peripheral vision, who was studying his sudden change. The clicking of her heels came up from the sidewalk and onto the steps of the house.
"Guys I forgot to introduce you!"
Maxine walks up to them, wearing tight black pants and a no sleeve light green shirt. Her straight hair sits above her shoulders as she stand next to Adam. "This is Maxine Ward." Adam wraps a protective arm around her shoulders. "My business partner" he announces to the group. "And my date to your wedding" he looks at Bianca and Drew. Drew did not share the awe looks of the others since he meet Maxine that morning and neither did Bianca; who knew about a plus one guest for Adam when he had told her, weeks back, that he might bring Maxine to the wedding, once he got around to asking her. "Hello everyone." Maxine smiles her pearly whites to the group, but the awkward silence was deafening to everyone. "Hi Maxine. I've been wanting to meet the person who I've heard so much about" Audra again spoke and broke the ice."Hi Mrs. Torres. Adam has told me so much about you." Maxine shook Audra's hand. After a few seconds, Drew greets her properly like he did in the morning, followed by Bianca before everyone else did the same.
"Fiona Coyne" Fiona states before shaking her hand. "Maxine Ward" Maxine says right back. Both woman stare at each other for awhile, Maxine grinning at Fiona before eying her completely, from head to toe and wearing an even wider grin.
"Ok well let's head inside, shall we?" Drew claps his hands together before everyone agrees and heads for the door.
"Fiona" Adam says before standing in front of the woman. "Do you have a moment?" he asks.
Every turns their attention back to them. "Sure" Fiona lets out casually.
"I'll be inside mingling" Maxine tells Adam before placing a soft peck on his cheek and joining his mom. "Mrs. Torres, you wouldn't have any embarrassing pictures of Adam, would you?"
"Maxie" Adam warns her, earning a laugh from his mom. "Of course!" she guides Maxine inside while Adam only shakes his head at both women.
"So what did you want to talk about?" he hears and looks up. Fiona coldly stares at him. The porch light was enough for them to see each other well.
"I wanted to apologies" Adam says to her, again not having any change to his person.
"Apologies?" Fiona could hardly believe his was apologizing now. "For what?" she questions, her hands crossing over her chest.
Adam had prepared a speech but now thought it best to speak freely. "For our affair." He sees the shock look on her face. They had never once referred to it for what it was until now. "I know what we did in the past was nothing but problematic and hurtful, for both of us. I knew what we were doing was wrong and it should have never happened. I should have let you go way before that and long before you even got engaged." He exhales, knowing what he was saying was something she may hate. "I should have just let you go the moment you walked out, which I don't blame you at all for doing now." he quickly adds. "I just want to say I take full responsibility for my actions and any problems I caused you." She was still holding her stance.
"I also wanted to extend my apology to your family and to say that I am completely over any bad blood or any resentment that I had towards you." Adam now saw her soften.
"My family?" Fiona was finding his words confusing. He means my parents?
"Yes. Your husband and child? I'm not sure if they are coming to the wedding, but I would like to say it to him personally." Adam sincerely knew now, after telling their story to Greg and Linda, that he was ready to move from their past relationship and wanted everyone involved, including her husband, to know that as well.
"My husband? My child?" Fiona froze in place. Why was he being this way? Was he saying those things to hurt her? Adam nods. "I'm not sure if you had a boy or girl" he says. "I uhh was never told if you had a boy or a girl" Adam clears his throat. He sees her drop her hands to her sides and look at him blankly.
"How could you not know?" Fiona almost whispers. Her eyes where on him, but her look was passing right through him now.
"I told everyone that I didn't want any information about you. Not one word. I know that sounds stupid of me, but its a coping mechanism I use." Adam clears his throat again, feeling out of place, but not breaking his stance.
Fiona felt as though the earth was collapsing from under her. He didn't know? Her divorce? Losing her child? Nothing?
She had always thought he knew she was divorced, the reason for her divorce and yet decided he didn't want anything to do with her. She had centered her mind under one truth. That he was heartless for not considering the horrible pain she felt once he left, before the empty pain consumed her once she had to terminate her pregnancy. She thought the man she was still in love with back then, the man who had consoled her pain time and time again, would be there to help her deal with her paralyzing agony. She saw nothing from him weeks after and thought he was now a vindictive man who had suddenly stopped caring. She felt her truth now shaken.
Her chest tightens as her sadness drowns her anger. Why? Why now?
"Fiona, are you ok?" Adam walks closer to her, but stops. She has a husband and a child he told himself as to not cross any line with his ex. He felt happy for her. He knew seeing her would be hard, but Linda's words were playing in his mind. He was aware that the air was far from clear between them, but Adam took the first step. "I know that this is all sudden and I don't want any false expectations of you accepting my apology, but you are the maid of honor and I am the best man. I just want to get through this without any awkwardness between us. I know that's a long shot, but just to put your mind at ease, I know we are in good places in our lives and I just want this wedding to be the main focus this week for us and not our past."
She did not reply to his words. Her mind was stirred with thoughts and emotions. Fiona looks over at him and nods. "I'm going to head inside now and see what the damage is with my mother and Maxie. Are you sure you're OK?" he asks again.
"I'm fine." she swallows the words. "Could you call Bianca out here, please?" Fiona makes no effort in eye contact. She hears him say something to her and walk towards the house, the sound of laughs from inside ringing in her ears. A few seconds later, the door is shut and steps are coming towards her.
"How did it go?" She hears Bianca and turns around.
"He didn't know?" the words leave Fiona's mouth quickly, trying to get some answers for her confusion.
Bianca does not flinch or try to decipher what Fiona meant. She knows already and averts her eyes away from her friend. She sighs and looks back at Fiona, shaking her head. "No he doesn't" she confirms. "Or didn't know, now that you told him."
"I didn't say anything about because I thought he knew! How can he not know?!" Fiona raises her voice now. "All this time, you! You kept this from me! I told you things, things that made me so angry at him, and you kept this from me? That he had no idea about my marriage, about my" her word stay in her throat. "I trusted you, Bianca. I thought-"
"He didn't want to know, OK!" Bianca gestures to the house. "He told us as he was leaving, that he didn't want to hear one thing, good or bad, about you. He left his hometown, Fiona. He left his family to go to another city in another country and for what? Because he saw you everywhere! You weren't there when he told us what you and him had been doing. He told us everything, only that guy? That guy saying those things to us? Didn't even resemble Adam. He was lost, a shell if you will and all he could say to us was he was wrong to think anyone could love him. He was so god damn depressed we thought of getting him help. We kept it from Audra, of course, because we didn't want any more problems. He wasn't happy, or eating, or doing anything remotely human. It wasn't until he left here, left everyone and started to heal, that he was able to overcome his consuming feelings. The 3 months after he left Canada, he forgave you."
Fiona was in disbelief when she heard about his forgiveness.
"Fiona, he told me he no longer had any held resentment towards you in 3 months of being away from here. I didn't believe him. I still had my doubts even when I told him you were my maid of honor. He just told me a simple ok and we kept talking about his role in the wedding. He avoided coming back this whole time I think. He did what he could to be a part of this, but he stayed away from the wedding plans Drew wanted him to help with. My thought was he was fearing running into you, but seems I was wrong." Bianca steps closer to Fiona. "He has changed, Fiona, but it doesn't mean he wants to be part of your life or for you to be a part of his. He's in a good place. I think maybe he's found his happiness."
Fiona's eyes darted to the cement ground under her feet. "Yeah and his happiness is named is Maxine Ward, I'm guessing." she tried to keep the bitterness out of her tone, not trying to judge the woman before actually knowing about her or sharing a conversation.
"Oh Maxine? Oh no, she's not the change." Bianca felt Fiona's body stiffen. "He's known her for a while now. She's not the reason for him changing, Fi. No, Adam has changed his way of perceiving things. He doesn't have that apprehensiveness he carried with him some time back. He finally accepted that he is a matured human being and childish things should be put to rest. He might have even accepted that you and him are finally a close book." Bianca just shrugs the comment away.
"Yeah because he thought I had a child! And a husband." Fiona brings her trembling hand to her mouth. "He actually thinks I'm happily married with a child." She was far from it, still working on her emotions and on not shutting down at the mention of her problems.
Bianca controlled her breathing. "What difference does it make, Fiona? Let him think what he wants to think." Fiona shook her head. Bianca let out a frustrated grunt. "God Fi! You said it yourself just yesterday that you hate him when Holly J and I were joking around! What changed?!"
"He did!" Fiona bawls her hands. "He is not the egotistical, arrogant, narcissistic asshole I thought for the last couple of years he was! I thought he would show up and be that man!" Fiona can feel her face burn and her tears liquify her vision, but she pushes through them. "If he would have ignored me like I thought he was doing all this time when he got here, it was fine with me. I was ready for that. I really was, but now I don't know what to think anymore. Would Adam, knowing about my life now, ignore me still?"
"I have to tell you the truth, Fiona. I don't think it would have made a difference. To him right now? You have a child and are happy with a husband."
"But I don't have those things!" Fiona's tears find her cheeks, but she quickly swipes them away.
"I know, but he seems happy for you. I think he wants to know that the person that got away had her happiness so then maybe he can start finding his." Bianca put an arm around Fiona. "He really likes this woman, huh?" she heard Fiona mumble.
"I don't know. I've seen her a few times when we skype, but he's always called her his friend or business partner. Never heard another title for her. I know they were both relocated to Chicago because of their jobs, but that's pretty much it. And uhh they share an apartment, but nothing more."
"And yet he invited her to his brother's wedding. Seems more than just a friends thing to do." Fiona could not make out her overwhelming emotions. Her head was spinning with the eye-opening realization of everything.
Fiona walks behind Bianca towards the house. "Fi?" she hears and looks up. "You didn't tell him, right?" Bianca asks. Fiona nods her head. "Are you going to?"
"I'm not sure if I should. I don't know what he would say about it." Fiona shakes her head. "Besides, it's your wedding we are here for, not this."
Bianca waves her hand in rejection. "I don't mind if you want to clear the air. I rather have you do it before my wedding day then anything else." Bianca jokes. "I won't say anything to him and I don't think anyone else will. It's not really something for us to talk to him about since it is yours to tell."
Fiona agrees. "I'm just thinking on how all this is going to go."
Bianca grabs the handle of the front door, but doesn't turn it. "Have no regrets about what you want to do." She turns the handle and looks over at Fiona. "Just know that the outcome might not be what you might expect."
