Lucas gave himself one more look in the mirror. It was already time for the rehearsal dinner, and he just finished putting on his suit. Lindsey walked out of the bathroom wearing her dress, but Lucas didn't even look at her.

"You ready?" he asked.

"Yeah," she said, walking out the door.

They walked into the dining room that was inside of the hotel. It was on the first floor, and it was where Dan and Deb were having the reception at after the wedding. Lucas saw everyone standing around, discussing something. He saw Peyton and smiled. Lindsey and him walked over to the group.

"Hey guys," Lucas greeted, looking at Peyton. She made eye contact with him but quickly looked away. "What's everyone talking about?"

"Nothing. Rachel was just telling us about some movie her and Mouth saw last night with Nathan and Haley," Jake answered.

"Wow, Haley. You really are trying to include everyone in that, aren't you?" Lindsey asked. "Well, everyone but me."

"I'm so sorry, Lindsey. Do you want to watch one with me tonight? I didn't mean to not invite you. It can just be the two of us. How about that?"

"Haley, I'm sorry, but that's just not my thing. I really don't feel comfortable doing that. Well, I do that when I'm alone. Only sometimes though. I'm not like someone who needs to do that everyday, you know? Usually I'll just call Lucas to take care of it."

"OK, I think we're misunderstanding each other on something..." Haley trailed off, completely confused.

"Come on, Haley. Lucas told me about you putting on a porno to watch yesterday with Nathan. I know all about how you consider it a cool way to bond. I just don't agree with it," Lindsey explained.

"What-" Haley began.

"Haley, can I talk to you for a second?" Lucas asked, grabbing her hand and pulling her away before she could say another word.

"Lucas, what the hell is she talking about?" Haley exclaimed, putting her hands on her hips.

"Haley, I just needed a cover up. Lindsey asked me where I was, and I told her I was with you and Nathan watching a movie," Lucas told her.

"Where were you at?" Haley asked.

"I... Nowhere, OK?" Lucas said. "I don't want to talk about it."

"Alright. Well, why couldn't you have just told her we were watching a regular movie?" she questioned.

"Because," he replied, shaking his head.

"Because why?" He stayed quiet. "Lucas Eugene Scott, if you do not tell me why, I am walking right over to Lindsey and telling her you were never with me last night," she threatened.

"OK, fine. I told her we were watching a porno because when I walked into the room, she saw that I was..."

"You were what?"

"I was... hard," he whispered.

"Where the hell were you at?" she yelled, eyes widening.

"I can't tell you," he answered. She shook her head and was about to walk away, but he grabbed her shoulders. "Don't worry, Haley. I didn't even get to finish."

"You don't say!" Haley said sarcastically. "You know what, Luke? I thought I was your best friend. You call me your sister. I thought you could tell me anything."

"Haley, I can't. It's just not up to me to tell you. She has to decide if she wants you to know," Lucas said.

"Wait. So, she knows me?" Haley asked. Lucas knew he had basically told her who it was. "It was Peyton, wasn't it?" Lucas stayed quiet. "I knew it!"

"Haley, you don't understand."

"Luke, how long has this been going on?"

"It's not like that. I went into her hotel room last night because she was pissed at me. I was just trying to apologize, but then there was this weird tension. She kissed me first, and I couldn't stop her after that. You know how I've felt about Peyton. You were there before we ever got together. When I was dating Rachel, you were the only person that I told I wanted to be with Peyton instead. It's always been Peyton, Hales."

"Then why are you with Lindsey?"

"I like Lindsey, I do. I just don't like her like I like Peyton. I mean... I would drop any girl in a second if Peyton told me to," Lucas admitted. "But Peyton doesn't want me to drop her. She asked me to forget anything ever happened between us yesterday. She wants to pretend like none of it ever happened."

"What made her stop? You guys must have gone pretty far if you were... you know."

"Haley, I can get that way just by looking at her," Lucas said honestly.

"Ew! Lucas, that is so gross," Haley exclaimed, causing him to laugh.

"Anyways, we knocked over a lamp and Jake came pounding on the door to see if Peyton was alright. Once Peyton heard his voice, she seemed to remember that she was dating him and made us stop. She kicked me out after that."

"Wow. That is crazy, but in a way I'm totally not surprised," Haley said, shooting a glance a Peyton. "So, what's your plan?"

"My plan?" he asked.

"Yeah! You know, to get Peyton back."

"Um... I don't really have a plan, Hales. She wants me to leave her alone, so right now I'm just trying to get her to talk to me," Lucas said.

"Come on, Luke! You know that friendship is not what you want right now! You're still in love with her. You've got to tell her that. You guys need to be together," Haley told him.

"Wow, Hales. I didn't know you felt so strongly about my relationship with Peyton," Lucas laughed.

"We all do, Luke," Haley said, motioning towards their group of friends who were still talking.

"You're right," Lucas agreed, looking at Peyton and smiling. "I have to win her back."

"OK, before you do that, you're going to have to get rid of Jake," Haley thought out loud.

"And just how do you suggest we do that?" Lucas asked.

"I don't know..." Haley trailed off. "How about you try being mean to him? Then maybe he'll get the message."

"That could make Peyton really mad at me though."

"But once Jake is gone, she can't stay mad at you."

"OK, I'll do it," Lucas agreed, immediately convinced. "Let's go."

They walked over to the group, trying not to act so suspicious. Lucas watched as Jake was offered another glass of champagne. He looked at Haley, who was already looking at him, and cleared his throat.

"Um, Jake," he began, glancing at Peyton.

"Yeah?" Jake asked, looking at him and taking a sip.

"I uh... I like your tie, man. Where did you get it?"

"Oh, thanks, Luke. I-"

"It's Lucas," he interrupted.

"Right," Jake said, looking down.

"Lucas, can I just-" Haley didn't finish her sentence, instead just pulling Lucas away. "What the hell was that?"

"I don't know. I just... I couldn't do it. I don't feel right insulting Jake for no reason," Lucas explained.

"So you can make-out with his girlfriend, but you can't tell him something mean?" Haley asked.

"Haley, this is getting way out of control. I can't do that to him. He hasn't done anything to me. I'm just gonna leave him alone."

"What if I told you Jake isn't as sweet and innocent as you may think?" Haley questioned.

"What do you mean? Do you know something I don't?

"Maybe," Haley responded.

"Haley," Lucas warned. "You better tell me."

"Fine. So, the other night, I was-"

"Lucas, can I talk to you for a second?" Peyton interrupted, coming up from behind Haley.

"Actually-"

"No, Luke. It's fine," Haley assured. "I'll tell you later."

She walked off, Lucas watching her go. He turned his head towards Peyton, putting his hands in his pockets. Before he could say a word, she was pulling him by his arm towards the kitchen. They went through the double doors and paused in the little hallway.

"Whatever you're trying to pull isn't working," she told him.

"What?" he asked, completely confused.

"Don't play dumb with me. I know you've got something up your sleeve."

"Peyton, I'm not trying anything. I know you don't want to talk to me anymore, so I'm staying out of your way. I'm leaving you alone like you wanted me to."

"Luke, I swear to God that if you are trying anything-"

"I'm not," he promised.

"Excuse me," a waiter said, pushing food out of the kitchen.

"Sorry," Peyton apologized, moving to Lucas to clear more space.

He couldn't help but place a hand on her waist. He felt her tense up and smirked. She did want him, even if she wouldn't admit it. He breathed in the scent of her perfume that was emanating from her body. Her hand grabbed his arm, her head so close to his. The sound of the double doors closing broke them apart. She cleared her throat and walked away. He was speechless the rest of dinner.

Peyton was getting out of her heels, ready to catch up on some sleep before the big day tomorrow, when she heard a knock on her door. She knew it couldn't be Jake because he had been the one to tell her he wanted to sleep instead of hang out in her room. She walked to the door, assuming he had changed his mind or something. She was surprised to find Lucas standing there. In his hands was a lamp, an exact model of the one they had broken.

"Lucas," she said. "What are you doing here?"

"Oh, I was just... you know, bringing you a lamp. I figured you could use it since it's dark outside and there isn't another lamp in there," Lucas explained.

"I was just using the bathroom light."

"Oh."

"Lucas why are you here?" she asked.

"Well, like I said, I was bringing you this lamp-"

"I know, but why?"

"Because I told you I would," he answered. "And I thought it was funny..."

"Hmm."

"Hmm?" he repeated. "That's all you've got to say?"

"Yep. I still think you're up to something."

"Well, I'm not. You told me to forget the whole thing, and I did. If anything, it's you who doesn't want to forget."

"I like Jake, OK?"

"OK," he agreed. "But what if I told you that he isn't as good as he may seem?"

"What do you mean?"

"Haley was going to tell me something she had on Jake, but stopped because you needed to talk to me."

"I didn't need to talk to you," she told him.

"Oh, so you just wanted to then?"

"Just continue, Lucas," she said, rolling her eyes.

"Look, I don't know what it is yet. I forgot to ask her after that."

"What made you forget something that important?"

"The sight of you in that dress," he admitted.

"Lucas," she warned.

"I'm sorry," he laughed. "You just make it really hard not to want you."

"Stop."

"Why?" he asked.

"Because."

"Because of Jake?" he suggested.

She looked at him, unsure of what to say. Jake obviously was hiding something. Lucas knew he wouldn't lie about something like that just to get them to break up. What if what Haley had on him was about him cheating? What if he was the one who was just using her? She saw Lucas' eyes scan her body, still in that dress. Only two words popped into her head at that second.

"Screw Jake."
