Chapter 10! Oh yeah, let's go!
Joey lifted his hands and Alex found herself staring in a dark landscape. He lifted his left hand and somehing like a gas meter showed. The needle was pointing in the middle. "Alex, before I go any further, I want you to know I envy how pure you are," he said.
Alex frowned. "Pure? Joey the Devourer's Venom inside of me–"
"I didn't mean pure good."
"Then I beg to differ! I'm not–"
"Alex, you're not pure good or pure evil," Joey interrupted. He signaled to the meter. "The left side represents good and the right represents evil. On an average day, your heart lies in the middle. This only happens to one in every one billion people!" The needle wavered halfway to the right. "This is when the venom is active. Even then, you can't be fully evil." The needle went halfway to the left. "When you set your mind to something to help someone, this is how far it is. This is how good you truely can be."
Alex stared at the meter. "A pure heart," she murmured.
Joey made the image vanish in a black mist. It rematerialized but the needle was halfway to the right. "This is my on an average day," Joey said darkly. "When I'm angry"—the needle tilted all the way to the right—"I can become very dangerous. With great evil in my heart comes a great loss in the control I have in my magic." The needle turned to halfway. "When I want to help, it hardly goes to good. Alex, I truly want to fix what I did. Julic has gone too far! But, I can't."
The landscape disappeared. Alex stared at Joey for a moment. She couldn't accept that. Anyone can be capable of great good! Even her father could when he was under the venom's control. She put her hand out. "Joey, do you trust me? I want to help you fix this, but I'm not sure I can. I know you forced magic into me, and maybe if I can purify it and give it back, it'll pull you enough into good that you can fix everything."
"I never gave you magic, I just allowed it to surface," Joey confessed. He placed his hand on Alex's. "But yeah, I trust you."
Alex nodded. "Then let's hurry."
Kai opened his eyes and pushed himself up. Zane was next to him, but no one else was to be seen. "Zane, wake up," Kai whispered.
Zane slowly opened his eyes and he sat up. "Where are we?" he asked.
"I'm not sure," Kai confessed. "But I think the more important question would be where are the others?" The two started around the room. There was no door or any windows. It was a fairly large room too, so Kai didn't know where a hidden door could be. "Can you scan the room?"
Zane nodded and flipped his panel open. He pushed a button and scanned the poorly lit room. "The only form of exit would be that wall over there," Zane said, pointing to the wall in front of them.
"But, there's nothing there," Kai pointed out. "It's just a wall." They walked over to it and Kai placed his hand on the rocky surface. "Right here?"
Zane nodded. "Exactly where your hand is."
"I think Julic messed up your scanner or something," Kai mumbled.
Suddenly Julic came through the wall, causing both ninja to jump back, not expecting it. "The last of the scroll has been complete," he told them. "There's just one more thing..." He grabbed both of their wrists and absorbed their powers. They both collapsed and Julic stepped back through the wall he smiled, he could feel all the energy coursing through him. Now all he had to do was sit back, and enjoy the show.
Zela waited patiently as the ninja began to wake up. Once they were, their attention had gone straight to her. "Hello, Alex's friends," she said. "The ninja. You know, what ever your prefer. Um, what's going on?"
"Julic is pretty much trying to take over Ninjago and get revenge on all who thought down upon him," Lucas said. "I slipped into his mind before he...before he took my powers."
"Mine are gone too," Cole mumbled.
"Yeah..." Jay muttered.
"Even mine," Tove complained. "This guy is really going to get it."
"He...he took mine," Zoey said softly. "And I...I can't really..." She frowned. "Zela, what drew Julic to you?"
"I don't know," Zela admitted. "I was just doing paperwork and got a paper cut. As I went to get a Band-Aid and suddenly it was gone. Then I felt a weird feeling and the two scars I had vanished. He appeared out of nowhere and then I was out."
"So now what?" Lucas asked. "We're stuck here, who knows where Kai and Zane are, and the others probably have no idea where we are!"
"We can hope Joey sees he was wrong and chooses to help us," Zoey said, staring down at the floor.
"Or we can hope Alex recovers and her and Nya come to help us," Cole suggested.
Jay fought back tears as he turned away from the others. "Nya already came," he said. "I...I guess when Zoey and I touched I saw what she saw. Nya..."
"Jay, she'll be fine," Zoey insisted. "She's just...hurt is all."
"Alex will come around," Zela said. "She's very..."
"Determind?"
"Persistent?"
"Stobborn?"
"Head strong?"
"Just plain Alex?"
Zela stared at the five for a moment. "Yes."
A light black light surrounded Alex's hand and transferred over to Joey. The magic user lifted his hand and looked to Lloyd. A light surrounded the gold ninja for a moment. Alex and Joey both were pushed back and the light faded around Lloyd. "Did it work?" Alex asked.
Lloyd sat up coughing and gasping for air.
"Yes," Joey said.
Alex jumped up and wrapped her arms around her brother. "Oh my gosh I'm so glad you're okay now!"
"Alex, can't breath!" Lloyd gasped.
Alex pulled back. "Oh, sorry!"
"Welcome back to the living," Joey said, a little jokingly.
Lloyd shot a glare at him.
"What? Too soon?"
"You little..."
"Lloyd, wait," Alex said. "Joey may have caused this, but he helped fix it."
Dr. Julien ran downstairs. "What's...Lloyd you're okay!"
"Yeah," Lloyd said.
"We need to get to the others," Alex said. "Dr. Julien, do you want to come and help?"
"No, I'm not a fighter," Dr. Julien said. "I'll just stay here and if you truly need me I'll take Ultra Dragon out to find you guys."
Alex nodded. "Joey, can you take us to the other ninja? Where would they be?"
"A hidden room," Joey said. "He was going to seperate Kai and Zane, something with the scroll."
Alex looked to Lloyd. "We don't have to go right away. If you're not feeling up to a mission, we'll wait."
"No, no," Lloyd said, him and Alex standing up. "I'm ready."
Alex nodded. "Joey."
"It'll feel a little weird at first, but you get use to it," Joey said. He snapped his firgured and they vanished.
Zela jumped out of her skin when Alex, Lloyd and Joey appeared. "Oh my goodness! A little warning would be nice!" she yelped.
"Lloyd!" the ninja yelled, running over to him.
"I'm so glad you're okay," Lucas smiled.
"It's good to be alive," Lloyd agreed.
Joey walked over to Zela. "Are you okay?" he asked.
"I'm fine," Zela said, staring at Joey for a moment. "You're...uh...eighteen."
Joey shrugged. "Magic."
"You," Lucas growled. Lloyd and Alex moved in front of him.
"Wait," Alex said. "Joey's on our side now."
"Yeah, Julic went too far," Joey said, glancing at Zela.
Zela smiled. "Thanks. You're a good friend." She gave Joey a small hug.
"Right, friend," Joey mumbled, looking down.
Alex remember the next part of the scroll, the final part. All chaos would break loose. She looked up to the others. How was she suppose to tell them? "Guys," she said. "We've reached the end of the scroll and…and well it isn't good."
"How does the scroll end?" Cole asked, taking Alex's hand in his.
She swallowed hard. "A creature, one made purely of evil and it's only purpose is to create as much chaos as possible. It was unleashed when Kai opened the door. I don't know how to stop it and now that no one has their powers, I don't know if we can."
"Lloyd still has his golden powers," Joey reminded them. "The First Spinjitzu Master was powerful, but once a power is passed down it becomes stronger. He might be able to defeat them."
Everyone started staring at Joey. "How do you know that?" Lloyd asked. "About my powers and them being passed down?"
Joey's face turned red. "I told you, when I killed you I was avenging my grandfather. I thought you could guess who that would be."
The ninja exchanged looks. "I don't know who you would be avenging by killing Lloyd," Alex stated.
"Wait, is your grandfather the Overlord?" Cole questioned.
Joey looked away. "Yeah, let's not talk about it."
Lucas looked to the others. "Think we can trust him?" he asked quietly.
"I don't know," Jay mumbled.
"What choice do we have?" Alex whispered.
"She's right," Lloyd agreed. "We'll keep an eye on him, but it's not like we can just tell him to leave."
"Why not?" Tove snorted.
"Hello, chaos taking over Ninjago!" Cole reminded her.
"Right," Tove mumbled. They turned back to Joey and Zela.
"All right," Alex said. "Let's go get Kai and Zane."
