There hasn't been much movement in the monitor room. Wesker and Birkin stared into the only monitor that was switched on. They were flipping through various channels watching several areas of the Executive Training Centre and the Ecliptic Express. The train picked up more speed and was coming in hotter than usual. With no contact coming from Dorian's Delta Team the three men all shared the same opinion: Captain Daemith's team failed their mission.

Dorian didn't have any luck having his dear sister call him for a mission update in the last few minutes, even he assumed she failed. He shook his head while he kept his eyes on her status. Even though she was online there was nothing that could be done on his end other than to watch the train crash.

"It looks like your pet wasn't as good as you claimed she was, Birkin," Wesker mumbled. His hands steepled under his chin, monitor reflecting from his sunglasses. "The Ecliptic Express is just a minute away from contact."

"She was a... perfect specimen. I don't know where I went wrong with her."

At this point, Dorian gave up staring at his PDA and rested his eyes. "I share the responsibility of Delta Team's failure. I didn't train them nearly hard enough, even Captain Daemith... I should have doubled her training." He brushed his hair back. "She wasn't ready to be on the field yet, but I believed in her."

"Maybe Birkin could make you another sister to play with."

Birkin turned his head to Wesker as he smiled at his remark. "You insult me, Albert. Our work is an artform, you just don't pump them out as you please. Good creations take time."

"For such poor display, I'm glad we're not really blood-related."

"That's time, effort and money we're not getting back raising her with you. On a side note, the Ecliptic Express will destroy a sizeable portion of the facility."

"It's hard enough pleasing that old man as it is."

"Nevertheless, our construction team will worry about the collateral damage that is soon to happen." Wesker turned his head to Birkin. "We might have to go to plan B. General, make your way down to the branch line and work your way up through the facility. Top to bottom, we need it cleared out."

"Understood. Though I will truly weep for my dear sibling's failure, if she has to die for you two to learn from your mistakes then so be it-"

"It was necessary," Wesker interrupted.

"Absolutely," Birkin added.

Dorian took a short breath. "The damage is done, she doesn't matter anymore. I will open the facility myself and finish what my team started. Maybe after this ordeal, Umbrella will understand that not all people are worth making." Dorian flourished his blazer and left the room quickly, almost storming out in light grief.

Benton was already growing annoyed with the fact that the survival of everyone on the train now relied on someone not trained to handle what was going on. He ignored the mention of the mute girl and gritted his teeth. "Focus, kid!" he blurted over the radio, noticing Rebecca and Billy were distracted by something else. Tuning it out, he turned back to the panel. "This train is going to derail if you don't walk your ass over to the controls! It should be to the far right of the engine car's main control console! You see it?" He already had his hand over the break lever, already in position. "You have to punch in a complete set of numbers that must match the sum to release the lever, then let me know! We gotta pull them together!"

Just outside the engine car's main walkway leading back into the train, a large puddle of slimy creatures began to form into shape. That shape started with the legs of it's creator...

Jared nodded out of force of habit even though he knew the man on the other side couldn't see him. "Alright, I'm sure I can figure this out." He made his way over to the panel setting down both the walkie and his bat. He began typing numbers into the panel trying to solve the code. After a couple seconds he was sure he had it. Got a B in maths anyhow. "Okay, I got it," He said into the walkie.

When Benton got confirmation over the radio that Jared was ready, he was a little impressed he got it figured out so quickly. "That's great, kid, now pu-" he was then jolted from where he stood as the entire cart shook suddenly and he turned pressing his back up against the wall, trying to stabilize his balance. His eyes were focused on the large clamp of a claw that latched onto a few railings, crushing them together as another claw hooked onto the railing bars on the opposite side of the platform. Something big was holding on and with the poor lighting it looked like a giant bug of some kind, it's feet obviously being dragged along the tracks.

"What the fu-look out!" Benton shouted, as a giant pincer shot between Billy and Rebecca, nearly missing them. Benton hit the floor as the pincer impaled the wall next to the panel, directly above him. As the pincer tried to pull itself free, Benton could see the damn thing was some kind of mutated scorpion. It's pincer took a chunk of the wall and retracted back, getting ready for another attack.

Benton noticed it's claws were probably a good strike point if they wanted to release the creature from the train. Evie watched the scorpion try to get a foothold on the rear. Rebecca backed away into the kennels since the scorpion had came flying in. She pulled out her pistol and began firing at from behind the open door behind her along with Ken.

Jared had his own problem, the leechman creature had wobbled into the room, ignoring the unconscious Alexis on the floor and took a violent swipe with an extended appendage down in front of Jared, hitting the terminal before going for a swipe in his direction.

"One of those leechy fuckers are with me!" he called through the radio.

The swipe had connected sending Jared into the wall. He let out a groan as he slid to the ground. As he looked up at the leechman, he knew he didn't have time to sit here and recover from the original blow. He glanced over at his bat waiting for the right time to try and get to hit. Jared didn't know if the bat would even have any effect on the thing but it was his best hope at the moment.

Benton set a timer on his watch, quickly watching out for live rounds whizzing over his head. "Hey, kid!" he called to his radio, "We got a big problem! Give us ten seconds and pull the lever!"

"I'm not sure if-" Jared replied.

"Watch for acid and get it done, or else we're dead!" The radio went silent. "I'm going for the lever, cover me!"

The scorpion pulled itself further onto the rear, with it's massive weight the railings broke away. With the left pincer so close to the panel Benton couldn't even think about trying it. The creature hurled massive screech from hell as the pouring rain swept into the car as the train seemed to be picking up speed.

As the scorpion apparently began to climb onto the train, Benton had to roll aside to avoid getting in direct contact. With a quick removal of the side arm on his thigh, Benton aimed high and opened fire, hitting anything that appeared vital. Some of his rounds ricocheted off its exoskeleton, the sudden louder shots delivered from Ken's shotgun had more of an effect. The scorpion's screech had him coil, the helmet doing very little to suppress the sound.

It was well over ten seconds. "I'm going for it!" Benton yelled over the gunfire.

Ken knew the kid needed a bit of legroom and shifted his body more to the left. He fired at the scorpion's left limb but after it warranted no effect he moved closer to hit the pincer closer to the panel. After the flinch Benton moved on quickly to the lever while it was reeling.

Benton climbed up to his feet using the wall next to the lever and pulled it. "Fuck, I hope you know what to do kid." He pulled the lever down harder. The rear half of the train's break system created sparks as it attempted to stop, although, not all the way. The engine car's gaining speed would eventually tear the train in half. "Damn it, kid!"

The scorpion pulled itself back onto the train. Benton fell back into the kennels with the others as the pincer came down, narrowly missing him and hitting the panel. Unable to believe his eyes, before him, was a scorpion the size of a Chevy; pulling itself forward to squeeze into the cart.

"Everyone inside!" Billy roared. The five scampered all the way to the door at the far back just by the cargo, the scorpion pried open the door ahead and pulled its body inside, minus the stinger.

"We can't just run!" Rebecca assured.

"Focus fire on its face!"

The scorpion felt hails of gunfire all over its face, after stepping forward it staggered. Rounds plastered the entire cart with chunks of dis-coloured meat and blood. Once the pincers started covering its face the creature moved towards them quicker.

Ken elbowed the door behind him, opening it for the others. "Through the door, go!" He reloaded his weapon, nudging the women first and then the men to slink away. The scorpion's defence was too high to punch through so he also retreated into the kitchen.

Something horrible echoed the room, metallic screeches and groaning. After the sound of something crashing down from the next level it went a little quiet, then there were sounds of movement upstairs in the dining room.

"Did it just go-"

The train suddenly plummeted in acceleration and immediately slowed down to the point of throwing everyone off their feet up against the electronic door behind them.
