Enjoy, my lovelies
J- Jellyfish
"It's the ocean! The ocean!" Sakura exclaimed as she hopped up and down on the blistering hot sand, one hand holding onto her wide-brimmed hat to keep it from being tossed in the strong ocean breeze.
Itachi smiled warmly at the girl and hummed in contentedness as he began spreading out towels and setting up an umbrella.
"Tachi! Tachi! Come swim with me! We need to go snorkeling!" She cheerfully shouted, waving her snorkel frantically in the air. Itachi chuckled, amused that such a brilliant and renowned doctor such as herself could also be so childlike.
Itachi finished spreading out the blankets and grabbed his snorkeling gear, making his way hastily after the energetic pinkette.
Once he was waist deep in the water, the small woman waded over to him and quickly outfitted him with his snorkel. She grinned at him before placing her own snorkel in her mouth and plunging into the clear blue ocean water. Slowly they swam along, faces downturned to the ocean bottom, watching the marine life that swam along, seemingly indifferent of their intrusive presence. Eventually they made their way to an outcrop of rocks where the number and variety of fish were astounding. Every color of the rainbow was showcased in the rocks below. They were both mesmerized and delighted at the vast assortment, taking turns pointing to their favorites. Itachi was watching a beautiful swarm of, if he remembered correctly, yellow tang fish, when he glanced over to point them out to Sakura when he saw it all transpire. It was like time slowed down, his eyes were seeing, but his brain was slow to process.
The jellyfish was beautiful and majestic and it was floating right next to Sakura's leg. The next thing he knew, Sakura's whole body spasmed and she jerked into the fetal position, her head and snorkel plunging under water. Pure agony was written across her face and Itachi swam with powerful strokes to get to her as fast as possible. Thankfully they were in relatively shallow water, and it didn't take long to help her back to the sandy beach, Sakura limping and groaning the whole way.
Sitting down, Sakura took a closer look at her leg, "Uhg, ittai… the tentacle is still attached to my leg." Sakura moaned. "Itachi, can you, uhm, find me a smooth rock or something like that?" She asked, clutching her leg and attempting to take deep soothing breathes.
"I'm on it." He said, immediately moving into action. Once he located a relatively smooth rock, he brought it back to her, handing it over. He watched as she placed her leg back into the ocean water and slowly brushed the rock over her leg, effectively detaching the tentacle from her leg. Once the tentacle was removed, she tossed the rock into the lapping waves.
"Now look who's the cool-headed and serious one in a tough situation." Itachi huffed with a tight smile, the worry never leaving his eyes.
Sakura attempted to smile but it quickly turned to a grimace. She took a quick intake of breath through her teeth, "Alright, I need to get back to the room so I can put a soothing balm on the area." Sakura gritted through her teeth as she attempted to stand on both legs.
Itachi tisked, shaking his head as he leaned down and swooped the small woman off her feet; Sakura gave a squeak of surprise. Itachi adjusted her in his arms and then swiftly made his way toward the resort, stopping only long enough to grab their hotel key card.
"Wai- what about all the things?" Sakura asked, alarmed.
Itachi glanced down at her, "They will be fine. You are my top priority at the moment."
Sakura's eyes widened and she looked down and laid her head onto his chest to hide her blush. It wasn't long before Itachi was before their room and swiping the card, allowing them to enter. Itachi carried Sakura in and gently set her down on the sofa, careful not to touch her injured leg.
"What can I do for you, Sakura?"
"Okay, I need you to get me baking soda and vinegar." Sakura asked, visibly in pain, but calm enough to know what to do, the doctor in her shining through.
"I was under the impression that urine was the best method for pain relief in situations as these." Itachi said with mild confusion.
Sakura raised an eyebrow at him, "Urine has had a rather cult-like popularity over the years, but research that it is actually helpful is unsubstantiated. And also, there is no way in hell that I am going to pee on my leg, Tachi."
Itachi blinked in surprise, finding this revelation rather interesting, "then baking soda and vinegar it is. I will be right back." He said, turning and leaving the room.
Within minutes he had the requested ingredients, a bowl, and a spoon.
"Direct me on what to do, Sakura." Itachi asked in earnest, kneeling down beside the small woman.
Sakura was still taking deep breaths through gritted teeth, "place a tablespoon of vinegar and a tablespoon of baking soda in the bowl and mix until it makes a paste." She finished weakly, closing her eyes and leaning back into the sofa to combat the dizziness and nausea.
Itachi kept his eyes on Sakura as he mixed the paste and began to gently apply it to the red blotchy area on her leg. She gave a relieved sigh as the paste began to soothe the pain.
She cracked an eye and looked towards him, "Sorry Tachi, but it might be a while before I want to go snorkeling again." She said with a wry smile.
Itachi chuckled, "what? No more jellyfish for you?" He teased.
"Uhg, no way! I think I've made my lifetime quota of jellyfish." Sakura said with a good-humored smile.
They fell into comfortable silence as they allowed the paste to dry and do its work. Itachi screwed the cap back on the vinegar and gathered all the things to take back to the kitchen
Standing up he glanced down at Sakura, "So, I'm guessing that you won't be wanting a pet jellyfish for your birthday, correct?" Itachi finished, smirking, and turned to head into the kitchen.
Sakura gasped and then narrowed her eyes at him.
He glanced over his shoulder, "Oh, too soon?" he asked with a mischievous smirk.
Sakura's glare darkened and she swiftly grabbed one of the pillows from the sofa and chucked it at Itachi's retreating back, "Arhg! Yes, too soon Itachi! Too soon!" She yelled back and they both dissolved into laughter.
