WOW! Long time no see! I am so sorry for the incredibly long wait. I know it's been a year but I really want to start up with this story again. When school started I couldn't believe how busy I became and I apologize deeply :( But this is a nice long chapter. I feel like maybe I've been making Axel's and Mixu's relationship seem super effortless and I kinda wanna change that and make sure they still have those awkward moments. I hope you guys enjoy and thank you so much for your patient! I almost wanted to start the story over because it just feels so amateur but ehhh idk tell me what you guys think! Maybe I'll start another AxelxOC story! Who knows! Let me know what you guys think! :)
I woke up earlier than everyone else so I decided to grab my stuff and go and let everyone else sleep. Something that was oddly on my mind was where were the parents? I mean, they can't just live together like that. Maybe they leave for the summer or something. I'll have to ask when they're not sawing logs.
I wandered through the town that seemed so empty at this early of an hour. I finally found my small, cheap apartment. I found my way to my cozy bed and collapsed. I barely had time to think about last night until sleep had found my eyes. My skin felt so cold yet I wasn't shivering….at least until I felt the breeze of the early morning air flow into my room. No wonder my blankets were so cold, I had left my window open. At least, I swear I closed it…oh well. I decided to go to bed since I was just way too tired and cold. I slipped under my sheets and let the sleep consume me.
I awoke to the sun in my face and the birds chirping; perfect morning, right? Wrong, I kept hearing the doorbell go off. I thought it was nothing, my tired mind told me, but once I realized that I had to answer the door, I sprung out of bed and checked the time, 10:30. CRAP. Not thinking I ran to the front door I ran into a corner and hit my knee. A sharp pain shot through my knee cap and into my leg. I stumbled to the floor with a loud thud but I somehow got up and swung the door open. My knee was still bothering me but I tried to ignore it.
A tall lean figure stood there, with a surprised look on his face. Yup, it was the man of the hour, Axel. No one could mistake that crimson hair matched boldly with those intense emerald eyes. He said nothing as he looked at me with his mouth slightly open that said no words. A slight blush hit his face so I looked down. Wow, I'm such an idiot. I slammed the door shut. I was still in my pajamas! Wow, what a great start to a first date. I looked down for some hope, maybe it wasn't so bad. I had on a tank top that looked too small for me and no bra; cool. I also wore shorts that looked like they were meant for a five year old. How embarrassing. And I slammed the door on his face. I decided to explain myself but first, I grabbed the closest jacket to me, a baggy grey jacket with a small logo in the top right corner.
I carefully opened the door half expecting Axel to not be there, yet he was still there.
"I see you're ready now." Axel said lighting up the mood with a soft chuckle. I couldn't help but laugh a little myself. I loved his humor.
"Yeah, you could say that," I said as I closed the door behind me. "Sorry, you had to see me…like that." I said nervously scratching my head.
"Don't worry about it; do you need some more time to get ready? I can come back, or wait here, orrrr…what?"
"Oh, it won't take long; you can come in and wait if you want." I said opening the door and inviting him in.
"Thanks." Axel said making sure not to hit his head at the top of the door; he was so tall. As Axel stood in my apartment I finally got a good gander at what he was wearing. Khaki colored cargo shorts, a black T-shirt, and some black shoes. The outfit really did suit him.
"Alright well, here's the remote, I don't have cable yet but enjoy the few channels that you can. I'll be done before you know it!" I said as I scurried to the shower.
Axel's POV:
I knew when she said she'd be done soon; it was going to be a while. That's how all women are. Pfff, women.
I turned on the T.V. hoping to find a few good channels and I luckily turned on to some entertaining trash about people cheating on each other and getting all mad. It was pretty hilarious. Her apartment was really cozy; I liked it. I heard the shower go on and a few minutes later I heard a voice. How cute, she was singing in the shower. Her voice was nice, soothing in fact. I mean, it wasn't the best I've ever heard, but it was nice.
A few minutes later her voice stopped and so did the sound of the running water. I heard music playing upstairs and heard her quietly sing along. I'm sure she was almost done, that shower was surprisingly fast.
"Almost done!" I heard her yell from upstairs.
"I'm sure you are!" I yell back with slight sarcasm. I heard her smirk a bit. It's almost weird how she isn't incredibly shy when it comes to talking to me. Most girls almost seem afraid.
Ugh, was there any way to make time go by faster? Just then my phone vibrated. I pulled it out of my pocket and checked the name; it was Xion. Hm, what did she want? I opened the text:
Hey Axel, are you doing anything today?
That was kinda odd; Xion and I almost never hung out with just us, we always had Roxas with us.
I decided to reply; Just hanging with Mixu. Do you need anything?
I put my phone away and took in a deep breath. I was feeling nervous for this date, as much as I didn't want to admit it.
"I'm ready!" Mixu yelled as she came down the stairs. I turned around; I almost lost it. She wore this casual pink dress that had a ribbon that tied in the back. It looked so good on her. It wasn't sexy or anything…it was..adorable.
I started feeling a light blush come on so I just shook it off real quick hoping she wouldn't notice.
"Haha, you okay, Axel?" Mixu asked as if to taunt me.
"Hm, yeah I'm fine." I said clearing my throat as I stood up. "Let's get out of here." I instinctively and boldly grabbed her hand leading her out the door with a hurry. Oh, wow, why did I do that? I probably look like I'm coming on too strong. Ugh. Just great.
Mixu's POV:
I couldn't help but be a tad shocked that Axel immediately grabbed my hand. I mean, I didn't mind, it was just a nice surprise.
"Where to?" I said as he closed my front door.
"Well, I think it'd be nice to go to a nice little place called…Itza surprise."
"Itza…oh." I said slightly embarrassed. I felt like an idiot. Why am I so nervous? It's just Axel! Oh no, my hands are starting to sweat, I hope he doesn't notice.
"Haha, don't worry about it, Mixu, surprises are fun." He said leading me around near the back of the apartments. I saw a red classic styled bike with a woven basket in the front.
"Is that our ride?" I asked, again, surprised.
"Beautiful, huh?" Axel said running towards it with my hand still in his.
"How're we going to even both get on tha-" I stopped mid-sentence because I saw Axel's cheeky smile look at the basket. Oh, great. Axel immediately picked me up by my waist and put me in the basket. I don't even know how my butt fit in it; but I'm not complaining. Axel then proceeded to mount the bike.
"Comfortable?" He said with a smirk.
"Actually it's pretty-WAHH!" Axel took off on the bike faster than I had anticipated. It didn't take Axel long to start buzzing through town. He headed straight for downtown, the part of town I wanted to see the most. Axel zipped past all the citizens enjoying the sunshine. I couldn't believe how fast he rode past them! Their faces were priceless! Like we were some rebellious teenagers, which in a sense we kind of were. I don't know why but in that very moment I felt so at peace. Even if this wasn't the most easing or calming thing, just riding with the fresh morning air blowing in my face and seeing the sights of a beautiful town that was now my home made that moment one I would never forget. Axel rested his face on my shoulder, his cheek was touching mine and it was so warm. The warmth of his cheek on mine just made the moment so perfect.
"Hold on!" Axel yelled as he went through a broken hole in a wall. It looked like we weren't going to fit but somehow we did.
I was amazed at how quick the scenery was to change. We were just riding through town and now we were riding through the woods.
Axel's POV:
Man, I hope she doesn't think this is too crazy for a first date. The woods seemed to be even bumpier than usual. Ugh, just great. Oh well, gotta roll with the punches.
I swerved through the woods until we finally found it. I came to an immediate halt. Mixu almost flew off the bike but I quickly grabbed her waist.
"Uh….." Mixu seemed a little nervous. This position was a little awkward. Yet, she seemed to fit in my arms perfectly…wait what am I thinking?! I quickly let go.
"EMPH!" Mixu let out a groan as she hit the ground. Great, real smooth Axel.
"I-uh I-I'm so sorry, Mixu." I stammered as I reached out my hand, but she rejected it and helped herself up. This date is just off to a fantastic start…
Mixu's POV:
I can't believe I fell. I'm such an idiot! I didn't want to come off helpless so I rejected him when he tried to help me up. I just dusted myself off and turned around.
I gasped at the view. In front of me was a beautiful mansion with a giant gate in front of it. It was obviously abandoned but man, It was beautiful.
"Beautiful, huh?" Axel said coming up to my side from behind me.
"Y-Yeah, it's gorgeous."
"Well, what're we waiting for?! Let's go!" Axel said as he went around to the back.
"Where are you going?"
"Well, sweetheart, unless you want to climb that gate in your dress, I suggest we find a different way."
"I-I'm not your sweetheart." I said crossing my arms.
"We'll see about that." Axel said smirking and trailing to the back.
A slight blush covered my face but I quickly shook it off and followed Axel to the back. We quickly came across another gate that led into the front yard of the mansion. Axel opened the gate.
"After you." He said with a smile. I walked in and was even more amazed at what it was like up close.
"Wow, this place is incredible"
"It's even better inside!" Axel said going to the door.
"H-hey! Are we allowed inside?"
"Haha, of course we are, this place is abandoned. Well, I mean I'm sure the ghosts won't mind."
"G-ghosts?!"
"Yeah, this place is said to be haunted. Why? Are you afraid of ghosts?" Axel placed his hand on the door and looked back at me with a mischievous smile on his face.
"Psssh, I don't believe in ghosts." I said walking up to the front door and placing my hand on it.
"Alright then, sweetheart." Axel said opening the large door. The detailing on it was unbelievable.
"I'm not your-" I was interrupted by my own breath being taken away. The inside of this place was simply beautiful. The sun shone through the glass windows and the detailing, once again, was still almost intact. There were stairs on either side of the giant room we were in and something seemed to be in a case in the middle but I couldn't quite make it out.
"Come here!" Axel said grabbing my hand and running me up the staircase. His hand was so warm, it was the same warmness as his cheeks. It was so comforting.
Axel led me into a giant library.
"Woah, this is huge!" My voice echoed through the giant room.
"I thought you might like it. Do you like books?"
"I love reading!" I went up to the books and touched them. They weren't as dusty as I thought they'd be.
"Hey, let's check out the other room." Axel said nodding towards the door. I nodded at him and followed him. He took me to the other side of the floor and we entered this giant white room. It was weird I almost felt like there was a presence in this room. It was almost creepy how white and empty this room was.
We walked around the mansion for a while longer just looking at everything.
"This is so amazing Axel!"
"I figured I'd show you one of the things our town is known for since you're new here and all."
"Well, thanks." I said smiling at him. "And we didn't even run into any ghosts!" I said sounding a bit too excited.
"Haha, I thought you didn't believe in ghosts." Axel smirked while glancing down at me.
"I-I don't!" I said nervously stammering.
"Well alright, let's get out of here." Axel walked towards the door to leave. I followed suit.
"So where to next?" I asked as we left the mansion.
"Well, I can tell you that it's still a surprise." Axel said laughing a bit at his own joke.
"That wasn't even funny Axel." I said crossing my arms.
"Don't be pouty, princess." Axel said grabbing my waist and putting me back into the basket on the bike. I couldn't help but blush at the warmth I felt when he touched me. Axel was just so…warm. Just then I remembered that night me and Axel kissed. It was weird; we were both acting like that connection between us didn't happen. I touched my lips as I remembered it. His lips that night were so warm. It's almost like Axel was my personal warmth..
…NO that's silly. I don't get why I'm feeling this way. As much as I don't want to admit it, whenever I see Axel my heart starts racing.
"Here!" Axel said as we approached town. I was so zoned out I didn't even notice us riding.
"Off ya go, princess." Axel said swooping me out of the basket bridal style. I couldn't help but blush madly, my heart racing even more. Axel seemed to notice because when I looked up into those emerald eyes, his mouth was in a smirk. I looked away quickly, my heart now beating ten times as fast.
"Something the matter?" Axel said teasing.
"N-No, I'm just uh…uh…" I was really at a loss for words. "Just let me down!" I said squirming. If he held me any longer I swear my heart would jump right out of my chest.
"Haha, alright, don't get in a fit, princess." Axel said gently placing me down. Where did princess come from? I kinda liked the new nickname.
I then decided to observe the surroundings. I looked up. The clock tower; No….WAY.
"No thank you!" I said walking the other way.
"Awwwh, come on, Mixu!" Axel said stopping me. "I promise I won't let you fall, and if you do, I'll just catch you like last time." Axel said getting closer and closer to my face. I quickly turned my face away from his to hide the blush while folding my arms.
"No."
"I'll buy you ice cream."
"…."
"is that a yes?" Axel said teasing. Ugh, I wish I didn't have to give into him so easily.
"FINE!" I said giving into Axel. Geez, this guy..kinda persistent, huh?
"Well, let's get to it!" Axel said as he gently grabbed my hand and walking to the ice cream stand. My whole body warmed up by just the slight touch of his hand in mine. Why am I feeling so nervous? Snap out of it Mixu! I did a quick head shake to try and knock some sense into me. He's only holding my hand. Calm down!
"You alright there?" Axel said squeezing my hand.
"Y-yeah, haha just had a bit of a chill." Walking to the ice cream stand, I noticed a lot of people staring at me in Axel, almost in awe. I hope they didn't think I'm some girl Axel's just dragging around like the rumors say he does. How could I even know if they were true? I mean I could ask him but…that'd be kinda strange. I looked up at Axel but he didn't seem to notice. I bet the only thing on his mind was ice cream.
"Two please!" Axel said as he handed the ice cream vendor money. "Alright, let's go!" Axel said handing me my ice cream. He started walking faster to get up to the clock tower. We found the way up and just stood there taking in the view. As terrified as I was to be up there, I felt a sense of security with Axel there holding my hand.
"Beautiful isn't it?" Axel asked looking down at me.
"Y-yeah." I said at a loss of breath. The view was absolutely incredible. The town itself was so small and precious yet beautiful in every way. The sun reflecting off of the town just made it even more beautiful.
Axel then sat down and released my hand. I sat down next to him and we both just ate our ice cream in silence taking in the gorgeous view that was in front of us. Axel wrapped his arm around me and brought me in closer.
"Mixu," Axel said as I looked at him, our faces inches away. Looking into Axel's glimmering eyes, I almost melted. He took his hand and placed my hair behind my ear, his facing getting closer. "You ar-"
"Axel! Mixu!" A voice crept up on us and me and Axel immediately sat up straight. We turned to see who it was; Roxas and Xion. UGH, what was Axel going to say to me?
"H-hey guys!" I said waving awkwardly.
"What're you two rascals doing up here?" Roxas said siting down beside Axel and Xion squeezing right into the small space between me and Axel. Grrrrreat….
"Just enjoying the view." Axel said with a cheeky smile as he looked at me.
"What else have you been doing?" Xion said in an almost irritated way.
"Oh! We went around town and Axel showed me the mansion and now we're here…with you guys!" I said trying to recover from how awkward this encounter was.
"Sounds like fun! Just make sure you don't fall again, Mixu!" Roxas said jokingly.
"Yeah, well maybe we should leave before she does!" Axel said standing up and grabbing my arm to help me up. "We'll see you guys later! Bye!"
"Bye!" I was barely able to say bye before Axel had us halfway down the tower.
"Hey sorry about that, I didn't know that would happen." Axel said nervously scratching the back of his head.
"Haha, it's no problem at all." I said with a nervous laugh. I got back in the basket and Axel took me back to my apartment. Axel picked me up from the basket again and set me down near my door step.
"Hey, it was really nice hanging out with you today." Axel said smiling.
"Yeah! I had a lot of fun, thanks for showing me around town."
"It was really no problem, I'm glad you had fun." I don't know why but the tension between us was slightly awkward.
"Yeah, well….I'll see you around?"
"Definitely." Axel said with one of those signature smirks. I turned away to go up my stairs but right as I took a few steps Axel grabbed my hand and spun me around. Our faces were centimeters apart. My heart started racing faster than it had all morning and my face was bright red.
"Ax-"
"Hopefully we can do this more, sweetheart." Axel said teasingly. He slowly released my arm and walked back to his bike. "Bye Mixu!"
Before I could comprehend what just happened I finally spat out, "I'm not your sweetheart!" Ugh, why did I say that? Axel gave me a wink before he took off. What a tease, not even a good bye kiss. Wait, why am I disappointed? I shouldn't get too wrapped around this guy, what if the rumors are true? But what if they're not? I can't believe he made my heart race so fast.
I slowly but surely made my way up the steps and to my door, unlocking it. My hand still feels the warmth from when Axel held it.
I went inside and closed the door behind me taking my shoes off. I let out a giant sigh and let everything that just happened seep in. What a crazy yet fun day. I checked my phone.
Hey Mixu! It's Kairi! Just wanted to make sure you got home okay. I didn't see you before you left!
Hey Kairi! Yeah, everything is fine. I just got home from hanging out with Axel. Let's hang soon okay?
I sent the message. Even though I didn't know Kairi long, I feel like I connect with her easily.
I walked more into my apartment, taking my shoes off before I walked in any further. It was kinda cold in here. Did I leave window open again?
"Don't think you'll get away from me this easily." I gasped as I heard that familiar voice behind me. He spun me around and clashed his lips into mine. No, this isn't happening. I didn't want to believe he was actually here.
