Here's the continuation of their date!
Chapter 9
"And then she basically forced me to join MBD. But when I got to their office, I was not expecting the clients to be so…" I trailed off, not knowing what adjective that was appropriate.
"Hot? Attractive? Good-looking?" Damon supplied with a smirk on his face. I swear to God, if he flashed me one of his nonchalant smirks again I would kiss the breath out of him.
"All of the above," I said breathlessly.
Damon was still holding me in place. We've been talking and not once his topic bored me. He had so many experiences that drew me to him. Like, when he was assigned to train fifty interns for an office in Manhattan but the night before he had gotten so drunk with his colleagues and all of them were late for three hours the next morning. Or when he was in Italy to visit his grandparents with his family, Jessica had dragged him to one of the fashion shows that his contacts ended up full with the model's numbers but the next day he had lost the phone. Or when he went to Indonesia to dive and surf in Bali which I was pretty sure it helped his flawless body gotten more ripped. Or when he was lost for two days when he explored the Sumatran jungle with his brothers and almost faint because of dehydration.
"When Caroline told me you were the next candidate, she was so excited because she thought you'd fall into my 'hot' zone," I told him as I played with his long fingers that currently he placed on my lap.
"Who's Caroline?"
"My agent."
"My agent is Sarah. She also told me you'd be the perfect candidate for me," Damon added, amused look on his face.
"And what do you think?"
"About?" he looked down to stare at me right on my eyes.
"Us."
"Well, now that I know the Elena Gilbert she meant was the very same Elena Gilbert that has been haunting my dreams, I would say she's, a hundred percent, correct," Damon said softly.
"I have?" I believed now my eyes sparkled in delight.
"You have. Since the first time we met. I was just too foolish to not give you my number. I was thinking you'd be someone else's. With that face," Damon tweaked my nose and I responded with a light giggle, "And that sassy yet caring attitude, guys would be so absurd to not make you theirs. But I'm glad I was wrong, because if I was right I wouldn't have the chance to get to know you and be with you."
"Damon," I chided playfully, wanting him to stop because if he didn't stop saying those words, I'd get my eyes wet and it wasn't an attractive look on me.
Damon laughed and I soon followed him. His laughter was addicting.
I instinctively looked at the clock on the wall and yawned. And I didn't even bother to close my mouth. Great.
"You tired?"
"Well, I've worked half day today, then went straight to the Grill. So, yeah, a bit," I confessed. "But you don't have to go yet, we can watch a movie or something."
He sent me a small smile that didn't reach his eyes. "I should let you rest."
"You wanna drive back to Fells Church? In this time of hour?"
His eyes fleeted to the clock which shown that it was pretty late for him to go back. He could get to his house at midnight and I didn't really want him to go yet.
"I was thinking to crash at my parent's place," Damon mumbled unconvincingly. Actually, he looked as if he was in deep thought.
"You sure?"
"Well," he looked nervous. Why did he look nervous? "They're not home, honestly. My aunt, Liza, just had a baby last month and they are currently in Italy for a while and truthfully I'm not that keen on staying there alone."
"Um…" Now I was the one who nervous. "You can crash here. If you want."
"Really?" he looked up at me like a kid who had been granted for a candy. "I mean I don't—I know your… I can sleep on the couch," he pointed at my old couch.
"Don't be silly," I waved my hand as I tried to keep my heart rate down. It was a possibility that he would sleep under my roof, in my house. "You can sleep in my bed. Have you seen my couch? You wouldn't be comfortable. Besides, it's not a sofa bed. And I would offer you my guest room but since Katherine's not here, the room currently full of papers that I have to analyze and it's so stuffy and—why are you looking at me like that?"
His smirk was getting wider. I swear to God, I would jump him. But I won't. I was not an animal.
"If you want me naked you can just say so."
My face was getting hotter and hotter and all I could do was slap his arm as hard as I could but my hand felt like jell-o after he out the image in my head.
"I was just being nice," I grumbled.
"I know, baby," he kissed the top of my head.
"Just go to that room," I pointed to the room with the door slightly ajar, "You can go take a shower first or whatever. Do you need some shirt or anything?"
"Nope, brought my own."
I stared at the black small suitcase that I just noticed, "Did you plan this all along? To sleep at my place?"
Damon laughed. "No, Elena. I actually have a plane to catch at seven tomorrow. Work, as usual."
"Oh," I blinked. He was going to go away for a while? "Where are you going?"
"California. I have to show my presentation for my office's latest edition of a program."
"For how long?" I squeak. Damn it, now I sounded like a clingy girlfriend.
He smiled as he reached for me and brought me to his chest. "At least three days. But I have to wait whether they approve or not because if so, I would stay for at least a week or two."
"Oh."
"I'll call you," he dropped a kiss on my crown.
"I know," I said then I shoved him, "Now go, clean up. I'll go wash the dishes."
I was washing the dishes when I heard my shower running. I let out a soft sigh, thinking how my life could turn out like this. Sure, Damon being here, the perfect gentleman that he was, fascinated me. I was glad to know that the guy that has been helping me none other the same guy that I've been wishing to be with. But then, was it fair of me to tell him that I don't want to have sex before marriage? He sure got the looks of those guys that could enchant women into their webs. I'm sure it wasn't hard for him to find a willing woman. Was he really okay with my belief? His face had shown he was okay with it, I could not see any trace of doubts and lies in his eyes when he told me he was fine with it and I trusted him. Was I stupid to trust another man when the man before him had crushed me?
"Elena."
I turned around too fast I felt the plate was going to slip out of my hands.
"Jesus, you scared the crap out of me," my eyes widened. But I thought it wasn't completely because I was surprised, but it was because of him standing in front of me with only a pair black boxer briefs with his hard chest glistening with water droplets that have ran down his six-packs. God, have I died and gone to Heaven already?
"Sorry," he smiled sheepishly. "Do you have a laundry bag or something?"
I shifted to place the clean plate on the counter, "I think I do, but you can put the dirty clothes in my laundry bin. I'll wash them tomorrow."
Now it was his turn to look at me with wide eyes and gaping like a fish.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah," I chuckled, "It's just a piece of clothing or two, right?"
"Right, but—"
"I won't touch your underwear with my bare hands if you want," I teased, smirking at him.
He raised an eyebrow before he grinned at me, "Well, I'll let you touch mine if you let me touch yours."
"Damon!" I punched him on the arm lightly. "Just go put them in and have some rest. I gotta call my sister first. Oh, how about I set the alarm for three?" Since I knew it would take him almost two hours to get to the airport, at least he would have some time to have early breakfast or something.
He responded with a "sure, okay" before he turned around and went to the direction of my room.
Be still, my heart.
After putting the clean dishes on the rack, I went to the living room to find my phone buzzed with Katherine written on it. I smiled. Great minds think alike.
"Hello, little sister," I picked up as I plopped myself down the couch.
"How was the date?" straight forward as usual.
"You wouldn't believe if I told you," I said coyly as I build the anticipation.
"Tell me!"
"Ugh, you're so nosy, Kat."
"Tell me, Elena, or I swear to God—"
"Okay, okay," I gave, "it was the best date and I think it had to do with the company."
"Who was it?"
"Damon Salvatore."
"I know, you told me the name. And then?"
"Well, Damon Salvatore," I emphasized on the sal, hoping she would take the hint, "was the best date I've ever had."
"Wait, Salvatore? Sal—no… no way, no fucking way. Elena, please tell me that he's the Sal you've been in love with?"
I frowned, "I'm not in love with him." Yet.
"Whatever, you've been obsessed with him, if you're not in love with him within the next month, then you're crazy. But tell me, it was Sal? Damon is Sal?"
"Yep."
"Oh my, God, oh my, God… Elena! What… how… I'm—Ah, I can't even speak right now."
I could hear some shuffling and stomp of her feet that I knew she was jumping up and down like a kid on a sugar rush in her dorm room. I laughed at her antics.
"How's that possible?" Katherine asked after she came down from her high.
"I don't know, but I'm glad it was him. And he's so… perfect, you know. He was a perfect gentleman and he…" I trailed off.
"He… what?"
"He told me that he's into serious relationship now, he wants to settle down and we're… well, dating now. Kinda, I don't know, it's weird to talk to you about it on the phone," I buried my face in my hand.
"Why does it feel weird for you?" Katherine asked softly. Great, now she's going to psychoanalyze me.
"I just… am I doing the right thing here, Kat?"
"'Lena, are you scared of the repetition of what had happen to you will happen again?"
"I…" I let out a sigh. "Maybe."
"Well, I've always known you as a risk taker. And the strongest person that I know. And you're adventurous which I admire that about you. But, Elena, you never know until you try, right? You can't let the bad memories of Mason ruin the chance of you to have happiness. Especially when that happiness is with Damon Salvatore. I've met him and I've liked him since. He's good for you, to you. "
I let the words that came out of Katherine's mouth wash over me. Well, when she turned her psychologist mode on, she was one smart cookie. "You're right."
"I know," she replied smugly and I rolled my eyes.
"Well, I have one thing that will surprise you even more."
"What is it?"
"Damon is, currently, sleeping in my bed."
"He's what?!" Katherine yelled as I heard something cluttering on the floor.
"Hey, what's that? Are you okay?"
"Fine, just some plate and pans on the floor now," she replied. "Tell me that you were just joking. I mean, what? You're still a virgin, right?"
"Kat," I chastised, "I am still a virgin."
"Oh, okay," Katherine calmed down, "so, what's he doing there?"
"He has a plane to catch in the early morning and I let him crash here. I wouldn't want him to drive all the way to Fells Church and spends three, four hours to the airport tomorrow."
"He lives in Fells Church? That's nice."
"Yeah."
"So, what's he do? A doctor? A CEO of some sort? A business man?"
"He's a computer programmer," I answered.
"Don't computer programmers supposed to look like a nerd?"
"That's what I said!" I giggled slightly.
"Well, hot and smart. You've got quite a catch, sis."
"I know," I wiggled my eyebrows.
"So, will you sleep next to him?"
"I think I'll sleep on the couch," I said.
"Well, you got a virtue to protect," she chuckled.
"Shush," I admonished. "I'll let you go now. Bye, Kat. Take care, okay?"
"Okay, mom. Love you."
"Love you, too."
I sighed as I ended the call and went straight to my room to grab my pillow and some spare blanket from my closet.
As I walked in, I saw Damon was asleep, spread eagle on the bed but he'd spared some space for me to sleep in. I was tempted, but I don't think I can stop my hands from touching his body, so I would endure sleeping on the sofa for now.
My hand was about to reach for my pillow next to his head when I heard him calling me.
"Elena."
I looked up at him and saw that his eyes were still closed but he still murmuring my name. Was he dreaming about me? Hope and adoration bloomed inside me. My face burned but I smiled a little, happy that he was definitely dreaming about me.
"Elena," he sighed once again in his sleep and I found myself getting closer, momentarily forgotten my pillow, and lift my knee on the bed next to his hip.
Before I knew it, his hand grabbed me and pulled me into his embrace as he rolled to his side and automatically I was in his tight snuggle as he nuzzled my hair.
Wow, okay. Oh my, God.
I tried to manage my breaths, not wanting him to know my heart was racing inside of me as I tried to get away from his arms. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, his arms tightened as I heard him whine a little when he felt the space between us. He caught me off guard as he crushed me into him once again and drop a kiss on my head. I finally calm down and looked up to see his innocent face. He looked so relax and I really didn't have the heart to wake him. I wiggled a bit so that I comfortably place my head on his shoulder, facing his chest. So, I decided to keep quiet and let him hold me as I slowly fell into deep sleep.
So, there you go! Hope you enjoy the chapter!
