I don't own Lord of the Rings or any of its characters

A/N: I'm sorry for ignoring this fic but there was so much I wanted to put in this one chapter and I putting off. Lol. anyway here's the chapter finally. ENjoy! Any mistake are mine and mine alone.

Castiel held tight to Gabriel's neck as the archangel paced around one of the pools that led to the earth below. He switched his gaze from between his charge to the pool. Heaven was eerily quiet and Gabriel could feel grace rush around frantically. Things were heating up between Lucifer and Michael. The next fight could start at any moment and most angels hadn't recovered from the last. It caused a fair bit of chaos. Gabriel knew his time was short and his choices were running low. He would have to participate in the next fight or face Michael's wraith. He was already on his eldest brother's bad side. His eyes drifted to the portal to earth.

Castiel tugged at one of the wings and Gabriel looked back to the fledgling. He knew Castiel wouldn't be able to make such fall. Could he really make such a decision? Fly down to earth and ignore the problem, leaving Castiel behind. He could do that, after couple of decades. The bond between would be severed after some time apart. The fledgling would get over it. They always did, the Seraphs, became so focused on their job. Yes, that was all he needed. A distraction and soon Castiel would forget all about Gabriel. The idea hurt him. He was going to make Castiel different, keep the bond strong.

Heaven shook and he could hear the screams of his siblings. They shouted in pain and fear of the two eldest. Did the Morningstar and Viceroy of Heaven hear them? No, they were too caught up in their own selfish fighting. Gabriel felt anger build him at his idiot siblings. Couldn't they look past their own fighting to see all the pain they were causing? A high squeal rang through his mind and Gabriel was reminded of the charge in his arms. The young fledging looked up with wide scared eyes. The expression made the Judgment Angel feel sick. He sighed and looked down to the rippling pool. Below earth was feeling the wraith of Heaven.

The sky had darkened and clouds formed. Thunder and lightning rolled whenever Lucifer and Michael's graces clashed. The seas were dark and churned in massive waves. The wind blew harshly and the sound it made was like a death wail. Gabriel sighed and knelt down. He placed Castiel on the ground and stood up. The fledgling whined in fear and reached up for his guardian. "Don't worry, little one. Someone will find you." He said in attempts to comfort Castiel. He turned away and stared down at the pool in a daze. As he neared the sounds of earth became louder.

He didn't feel the fall. It was as if he was standing one moment and the next. Water rushed up to greet him. Piercing him like a thousand freezing needles. Gabriel gasped and was brought back. The freezing cold was gone and replaced with a searing heat. It burned, burned in different way grace did. It covered him to every wing tip. No amount of wings of counter grace could protect him from this pain. This is what falling from Heaven felt like.

Casteil had reached in vain for his guardian as the angel was pulled from Heaven. He cried out as the golden winged angel fell through the pool in a flash of golden rays. He ran to the edge. His black wings were stiff and ready to dive after the Archangel. He reached down and grazed the surface of the pool. A cold feeling crawled up his arm and set in his core. Castiel wrenched back and shivered as his grace tried to burn on the cold. He leaned over the edge and stared down at the pool. A light raced towards earth like a shooting star. "Gabriel!" he shouted. The first time his true voice was used. It pierced the pool but was barely heard over flames covering Gabriel. His wings flapped nervously as he watched the amber light fade into the darkness of earth.

"Castiel?" The fledging turned to see the angel Balthazar. His charge Anael buried in his navy wings. "Where is Gabriel?" He asked and looked over into the pool. Just in time to see the light crash into the earth and go out. "Oh father, why?" The angel whispered. He looked down at the scared fledgling. "Come with me little brother." Balthazar picked the cherub up. "I'll protect you." He placed Castiel beside Anael in his wings. The fledging looked at his new companion with wide eyes. Anael ran a hand down his black wings. A flare of her grace charged through him, warming him. Castiel smiled and curled up against her.

Balthazar sent a prayer to the Judgment Angel, hoping he had landed safely. "You're a bloody idiot Gabriel." He said more to himself. Heaven seemed to break apart after that. The other Archangels weren't blind. They felt it, the fall of their brother. Lucifer's voice rang through Heaven. It was filled with pain, anger, and sadness. Michael's countered it with blame and madness. Balthazar felt weak and in pain just being within range of it. Anael and Castiel whined and cried. Each too young to understand why their eldest brothers were in pain but knew it hurt.

Then was a clash of blinding light, deafening sound. Then nothing, silence, Heaven was silent. The angels graces were unmoving in shock. Missing among Heaven's host was the Morningstar's grace. When Michael returned to Heaven hellfire burned on his glowing white wings and his sword in hand Lucifer's other hand in his other hand. It was clear then what had happened. Michael looked to Balthazar with cold stone eyes. "Where is Gabriel?" He asked with a dead voice, void of any emotion the Archangel once had. Balthazar bowed his head and moved out of the way. "The call of earth was too tempting."

Michael dropped the weapons and fell to his knees in front of the pool. He looked down through the reflecting water. Gabriel's grace could no longer be seen. Michael reached forward and touched the freezing liquid. It crawled through his body. The fire from Hell and the cold ice from earth mixed together in his body. Yet Michael felt none of it. He was numb to the feeling, to all feeling. "Where is the fledging?" He asked not taking his gaze off the pool. "With me brother." Balthazar said after a moment. Michael nodded. "He will be your charge now." Michael said and stood, grabbing both weapons. "Is that wise, at least with the bond between still in effect Castiel prove to act out." Balthazar. Michael finally looked at him. "If there is any trouble, send him to Naomi." Balthazar held back a shudder at the mention of his sister. "Of course." He left it at that.

Below on earth Gabriel looked back up at Heaven. His grace was weak and when he looked back at his wings they had turned amber, covered in dirt and grass. He stumbled forward. Looking around him, he had no idea where he was but felt magic swirl around him. "Pagans." He mumbled and made his way towards the source. Forgetting Heaven and his siblings for a moment.
