Suefanficlover: Yeah, I realized that sometime after writing this chapter and i'm trying to fix it. At the time I was worried about the story beginning to take to long and not getting to the point so i began skipping around a little bit. but glad you liked it otherwise.

"Say you're sorry that face of an angel comes out just when you need it to as I paced back and forth all this time cause I honestly believed in you"
After service, instead of going to our rooms by curfew like we had been doing, the youth pastor and leaders took us out to have fun. Just like last year, we were going to a giant arcade place to play and have fun since it was our last night in Florida. It was kind of like a celebration. It was one of those places that was usually open well into the night. We all piled into the vans and headed out. I explained to Demi where we were going since I knew it'd be the same place as before. It was about a ten minute trip.
When we arrived, we were told we could pick one thing to do since the place was expensive and we couldn't be here too late. We could choose from go carts, sky coaster, bumper boats or the big arcade inside. There was also all kinds of food and drinks also inside. A group of us chose go karts while some of the guys chose to do bumper boats. Everyone else chose the sky coaster. In case you didn't know, a sky coaster was a ride where you wore a harness around your body, then they pulled you up into the air with a motorized pulley. Then whoever was on the cord side pulled the cord to break free from the pulley and you would free fall about 25 feet before swinging toward the sky. It was a little like a giant swing except instead of sitting you were on your stomach and two or three people could ride at one time. You continued to swing until the ride fully slowed down. Then you were stopped and pulled back down with a cherry picker type device or motorized basket that rose up and down. However you wanna call it. I was way too afraid to do that.
We all lined up at the cash register to pay for the wrist bands we needed to do each activity. As we waited in line, I bought Demi a pickle. Apparently she loved them. I bought myself one as well since it had been a while since I had one. After our wrist bands were bought, we made our way outside to the go carts. We munched on our pickles and chatted with other people who decided to join us in line. Thankfully since it was so late, we were practically the only people there. We really just had to wait for the operator of the go carts to come out and get us started. Taylor and Gracie were out with us riding around on the track. We raced each other and acted like crazy people. We'd ram into each other though we really weren't supposed to. We had a blast though on the track.
After racing, I used my last bit of change from the night to play a few arcade games. Demi watched me play and Gracie and Taylor went to pay to do the sky coaster. Many of us had already broken the one activity rule anyway. I used the tickets id won to trade for an inflatable bat. The rest of the stuff was stupid things like erasers or spinning tops. I opened the bat and began blowing it up as Demi and I followed Gracie and Taylor out to the sky coaster. Right next to the ride were bleachers so people could watch the riders. Most everyone was gathered there either waiting their turn or watching their friends. Demi and I plus a few others chose not to sit since we had basically been sitting down the last few hours do to service.
I soon got bored watching people ride that I barely knew so I started whacking people in the head with my bat. Thankfully I didn't annoy anyone. I chased people around though like Sam and our friend Michael. I went up to Demi to whack her but I ended up regretting it. I snuck up behind her and smacked her in the back of the head. She had been watching riders and wasn't paying any attention to me fooling around. Soon as I hit her she spun around quickly and snatched the bat out of my hands. I could tell by the smirk on her face what was coming next so I took off running. She was a little faster than me though and we weren't aloud to go far anyway so before I could do anything she smacked me repeatedly with the bat.
"Hey, I only hit you one time!" I exclaimed as she continued to hit me.
"Oh well!" She laughed at my frustration. When she quit hitting me, I ran after her. I knew I wouldn't catch her on my own but then the entrance of the building came into view. Since we were no longer allowed inside because none of our chaperons were inside she was forced to stop. She still had the bat in her hands so I didn't have anything to get her back with. Instead, I wrapped my arms around her shoulders from behind as she bent forward shielding herself in case i actually hit her with my hand or something. I didn't hit her though. I gave her a brief hug then in one quick movement, I got her in a head lock and gave her a noogie. She squealed as I messed up her hair with my knuckles.
"Ha! Payback!" I said loudly. Everyone around us laughed at our weirdness but we didn't really notice. We were too busy laughing at our own stupidity.
After we were done acting like crazy people, we watched a few of our friends including Gracie and Taylor do the sky coaster. We laughed histarically, when they popped the cord and we could hear Gracie screaming and squealing loudly as they flew through the air. The group from the bumper boats came back at that point. Some of them pretty wet from being sprayed by each other. Half of them also got wrist bands to do the sky coaster while the rest sat down to watch. As Gracie and Taylor's ride finished, we could hear Gracie yell that she wanted to go again so that's what they did. They added another person to their harness since their friend didn't want to go again and then they were lifted again. We could hear Gracie squealing again as she realized she was now on the side where the pull cord was located. She'd have to pull it. When they got to the top, we counted down for them from five as everyone had been doing for other riders. When we got to one though, Gracie didn't pull the cord.
"She's too scared to do it." I heard Demi say.
Then the next thing I knew she pulled the cord. She had only hesitated a moment. Good thing she didn't chicken out or we'd prolly be here all night. We could hear her scream and squeal again as we all took pictures or videos and laughed. The whole place could probably hear her right now.
For the next two hours, we watched as everyone rode the sky coaster. Yes it took at least that long considering most everyone rode more than once. When we finally got to the cabin, it was nearly 2:30 in the morning. Unfortunately, we still had to wake up early the next morning. We had an 8 am wake up call because we had to be on the vans and buses by 9.
The next morning quickly came and funny part was most everyone was trudging along. It wasn't just because we were tired either. No one really wanted to leave if we were all honest. We had had a blast this past weekend hanging at the beach, hanging with friends and playing games. Just before we loaded the buses, we met up in the worship building one last time. A winner still needed to be chosen for all the competitions and relay races we did. We all crossed our fingers as the winners were announced. For the guys, the younger two teams came in last followed by the green team and finally the dark blue team a.k.a the guys that were our age. For the girls, the pink and yellow team were the two last places which was funny since they weren't the youngest- between you and me I don't think they tried very hard. They were too busy pranking each other-, the youngest girls, lime green came in second and so then that put us, light blue, in first. We screamed and chanted our team name as we ran up to get our first place medals. We were probably the happiest about winning out of everyone.
Soon after, we loaded the buses. I ended up avoiding Justin. I just didn't want to deal with him right now. I met up with Demi as she, Gracie, Taylor and the others waited to load the school bus. Since they road in vans here they had to ride the bus back. I on the other hand still had my special preveledge in place so I was still riding with the youth pastor and his wife in the van.
"You talked to Justin today?" Demi asked me as we stood next to the bus.
I shook my head. "No, and I really don't want to."
"Just as well, I guess. He's probably looking more forward to riding with Megan anyways."
"Yeah probably." I mumbled.
I opened my mouth to say something else but was interrupted by an adult telling us it was time to load the vehicles. I slowly made my way to the van and say in the same seat that I had been in on the way down. I didn't speak to anyone around me. I just stuck my earphones in my ears since we had finally been given our things back. I replied to a few messages on twitter and texted my mom to tell her we were leaving. Other than that I didn't do much else. If anyone had actually been paying attention to me, I probably looked pretty upset but no one even bothered to look my way and I didn't bother to speak to anyone either. I got a few texts from Justin. I replied a few times just so he wasn't suspicious about anything but my responses were generally one worded and I claimed to be tired. I didn't want him to ask a bunch of questions as to why I wasn't speaking much. I just didn't want to deal with it right now.
I thought some more about what I wanted to do. I guess I still had some doubts. I texted Demi about an hour after we left the cabins.
'Do you think I should break up with Justin?' I asked getting straight to the point. She texted back a few minutes later.
'I don't want to tell you what to do but yes I do think you should.'
'I dunno if I can.'
'Look, I know you don't wanna hurt him but you need to be thinking about yourself in this situation not him. He just doesn't seem to care about you the way you want him to.'
'Way to be blunt.' I thought.
'Well I wanna do it in person. I definitely don't want to do it over texts.' I texted back quickly.
'Do it how you want to. Just do it soon if you are going to. No point in leading him on.'
I knew she had a point. No point in staying in a relationship of I wasn't happy and no point in keeping it going if I didn't really want to. I made a decision right then. I'd go through with it when we stopped for lunch. At least I hoped I would. I've never broken up with anyone before.
This whole lesson would turn ironic later on.
I quit texting Justin after my texting conversation with Demi ended. I told him I was going to sleep even though that was the farthest thing from the truth. I couldn't go to sleep even if I wanted to. First, I've never been able to sleep in a moving vehicle unless I was extremely tired and second and most important, I had way too much going through my mind right now.
Much to my dismay, lunch came around quickly. We were in Alabama now but we still had a good bit to go. We had three choices for lunch. Krystal's, Wendy's and Chik-fil-a. Interestingly enough all three were right next door to each other. We could walk to any of the three but it could only be those three places unless we could get another place near by authorized by an adult. I chose Krystal as it was my favorite place. It was the farthest away of the three restaurants, followed by Wendy's and then chik-fil-a where the bus and vans were parked. I ended up being part of the very few to walk over to Krystal. Everyone else went to the other places including Demi, Taylor and Gracie.
I ate my food quickly or tried to rather. I had to stop half way through my second burger because I started to feel nauseous. To say I was nervous as hell was an understatement. I threw my things away and then went to look for Demi. She was the only one I wanted to see right now and plus where I was I was kind of on my own as everyone else had gotten their food and left to go sit with friends at the other places. I headed in the direction I knew Demi was at since we had split up upon arriving to the restaurant. I found it kind of funny as I walked across the parking lot to the one next door that all I wanted was to be with Demi right now. We had only just started getting really close over this previous weekend but I was acting like we've been best friends for years. This was when I first came to feel the special connection Demi and I have, I just didn't know it yet.
I walked through the front door of the Wendy's and immediately spotted Demi and our group of friends waiting for their food to be made. I guess I received and finished my food faster than I originally thought. That or they were just really slow here. I slowly made my way to the table. Demi saw me quickly and greeted me. I didn't have time to respond before she noticed the look on my face.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Geez she caught on quick. She laughed at something either Gracie or Taylor did. I don't know which since for some reason I kept my eyes glued to Demi. She looked up at me when I didn't answer right away.
"I'm scared." I said quietly.
I was surprised she heard me and that she knew immediately what I was talking about. But apparently she did, because she quickly sat me down on her lap.
"Everything is going to be ok." She said quietly so only I could hear then she rubbed my back.
This apparently gave me the boost I needed because minutes later I stood up. I softly smacked her leg hoping she'd pick up non verbally what I was about to do. She didn't though because she didn't look my way as I left. Instead, I watched her reach over the table and playfully smack someone on the arm. Oh well, she'd find out eventually.
I marched over to the chik-fil-a next door. I knew Justin had to be there since he hadn't been at Krystal or inside Wendy's. I went into the chik-fil-a front door and quickly found him at the food counter getting his sandwich. Let me tell you though, I may have looked confident on the outside but on the inside I was shaking in my shoes from nerves.
"I need to talk to you." I said to him after her approached me to say hey.
"One sec." He said holding up his finger. The rest of his food was ready so he need to get it.
My room leader's young daughter heard what I had said since I had spoken to her before Justin found me.
"Don't do it!" She exclaimed to me like she knew exactly what I was going to say to the boy. I knew she didn't but I ended up answering her like she did.
"Don't say that or I'll chicken out."
The little girl didn't get a chance to respond as Justin approached right after I made the statement.
"Follow me." I said to him and walked over to the door and out of the building. No point in doing this in front of everyone. It seemed most everyone had come here to hang out and/or eat.
We got to the side of the building near the school bus before I turned around to face the boy. I tried to read his face to see if he knew what I wanted to say. He already looked sad. Crap, he knows. I tried not to seem nervous but my body decided to choose now to betray me.
"What I want to talk to you about is..." I trailed off unable to find the right words. I knew what I wanted to do but I couldn't find the right words. It seemed my brain and my mouth had decided to betray me as well. I started to babble a little before I just quit talking altogether.
Justin must have read the look I had on my face at that point because he picked up on things pretty quickly. "You want to break up?" He asked point blank.
I looked away not wanting to see the look in his eyes when I gave him my answer. "Well..., yes actually I do. I'm sorry, it's just not working out." He nodded his head but didn't say anything.
I walked away without further explanation. I know I needed to tell him why I wanted to break up but I decided I'd tell him eventually. I felt bad in the pit of my stomach as I walked away from the boy but at the same time I felt relief. I felt free in a way; Like I broke away from something that had been holding me back. Kind of like the whole chains thing that had been talked about the night before.
I wanted to go let Demi know that it was all done and over with but before I could even make it over to the next parking lot, we were told it was time to get back on the bus and vans. Since I was right there at the vans I went ahead and climbed in before Demi, Gracie or anyone for that matter even walked out of Wendy's. I'd just talk to her later. It'd be best to speak to her about all this when we could be alone or at least away from most everyone.
I sat back in my seat as we pulled out of the parking lot. I put on my favorite music as load as I could without hurting my ears. I closed my eyes and thought about what I had just done. God, I hope I made the right decision.
