"This is the last time I'm asking you this,

put my name on the top of your list."

The Always Lovely Taylor Swift

Cammie giggled breathlessly, taking in the battle scene around her. She quickly turned on here heel as Zach motioned for her to follow him down the hallway. She ran after him eagerly, throwing nervous glances over her shoulders, knowing that Bex and a nerf gun was a very bad combination.
Zach turned stealthily and crept down the basement stairs, peering around the corner for a potential enemy. There was an unspoken pact that Zach and Cammie would work together, but if they went down to the final two, Cammie would not hesitate to take him out.
She giggled silently at the thought before seeing a slight movement out of the corner of her eye. She cautiously turned, and noticed Liz and Jonas hiding behind the couch, both looking scared beyond belief. They didn't have the killer instinct. Cammie motioned to Zach, and they moved over to them, holding their guns up.
Liz looked up, and nearly screamed when she realized that she was caught.
"Don't shoot!" She whined. "We'll give you our ammo!" Cammie and Zach exchanged glances before agreeing and taking their guns from them.
"You're out." Zach said. Liz and Jonas looked simply relieved as they headed upstairs.
"They aren't all going to be that easy." Zach said as Liz and Jonas had literally surrendered.
"Well then lets keep moving," Cammie said as she turned and headed out the basement door to the backyard.
She quickly reloaded her gun using the ammo that she had gotten from Liz and Jonas and tucked her new gun into the waistband of her leggings. As Zach trailed behind her, he couldn't help but stare at her butt. Cammie turned, feeling his stares, and rolled her eyes.
"Zachary, we have a mission to complete."
"Yeah, or we could sneak off into the woods and spend some time...alone." He said with a wink and a smirk.
"In your dreams Zach." Cammie responded with an eye roll.
"Right, I forgot you're too innocent."
Cammie gasped, "I am not innocent!"
"Yes you are" Zach responded. "Are you a virgin?"
"That's none of your business!" She snapped.
"I'll take that as a yes, therefore, you're innocent."
"You're incredibly annoying." She said indignantly. "The point is, I wouldn't 'go spend alone time' with you." She said and started walking again.
"That's what they always say, but they always change their minds." He taunted.
"You're ego is bigger than the size of Texas." She responded incredulously.
"You love it though." He said with a smirk.
Cammie secretly could not deny that, but she continued to trudge on deeper into the woods. She knew that some of the boys would be hiding in there, but she had the advantage. She and Grant had played in the woods more than anyone when they were younger, so she knew the area like the back of her hand.
She entered the woods, and immediately began climbing a tree. She felt a little like Katnisss Everdeen as she sat atop a tall branch and looked down. She called to Zach, "go find them, somehow, and trick them into wandering under this tree. I have a good enough shot that I think I can get them from here. He nodded wordlessly, and she made herself comfortable.
As she sat, she had plenty of time to think. She wondered about her parents, how they were always out of town on mysterious business trips. She thought of the expensive gifts that were always sent to her house on Christmas, her birthday, and her gold card that never declined, no matter how many shopping sprees she went on.
She thought of her friends, who had literally trashed Grant's house to make her happy because her parents flaked on her.
She thought about the gym, all the workers, and her kids that literally worshipped the ground she walked on. She remembered when she was younger, and she had dreamed of attending the olympics. She remembered her first national title in the junior division when she was fourteen, and her parents hadn't even congratulated her. As long as she continued to get good grades in school, she knew that her parents would never be concerned. She sighed slightly, but shook her head. She didn't need to wallow in self-pity.
Finally she thought about Zach. Did she like him? She had honestly not even considered it. Zach and Cammie had always just been Zach and Cammie,
nothing more, nothing less. But why did she suddenly feel so weird? She shook her head. She didn't need to start any boy drama.
Her thoughts were interrupted as Zach sprinted by underneath her branch, with Brad tearing after him, Matt and Jordan trailing a little bit behind. Scrambling to grab her gun, she loaded and fired at Brad's back, hitting him dead on.
"Yes!" She laughed, before she lost her grip on the tree and slid backwards. She screamed as she fell out of the tree and landed hard on the ground. She faintly heard her friends calling her name as she drifted out of consciousness, only registering a sharp pain in her leg.

When Cammie came to, all she could register was the bright white walls of the hospital room and the florescent light above her head.
"Well, look who decided to grace us with her presence." Grant said from the corner of the room. He stood up and walked over to her side. She looked up, realizing that her right leg was in a cast, which was propped up under some pillows. She began struggling to sit up, but he gently pushed her back down.
Before she could even form words, he said knowingly to her "You fell out of a tree, and broke your ankle in three places. The doctors did surgery on you immediately and you'll be in the cast for... a while."
Cammie contemplated bursting into tears. Her senior year gymnastics season was as good as ruined because of her stupid mistake. Instead she just looked up at Grant with an incurable sadness in her eyes and his face softened.
"I know, Camster, you can cry if you want."
She just shook her head dejectedly and spoke for the first time. "Do my parents know?"
"Someone called them and let them know but there was no answer. I'm sure they'll get back to you soon."
"Where's everyone?"
"We've all been taking turns staying with you. This is the first time that they let me stay in here alone, and naturally you woke up when I was here because I'm your best friend."
Despite the situation, Cammie laughed. It was nice to have Grant there, she needed someone to help keep her mind off things.
"Do you want me to call everyone else and let them know you're up?" He asked.
"No," she said tiredly. "I just want to sleep. I'll talk later."
"Okay Cammiebear. Love you kid. Stay tough."
"Love you too Grant. Thanks."

Cammie was drifting in and out of consciousness as she was permitted to leave the hospital.
She vaguely remembered someone lifting her up and carrying her to the car, where she sat in the backseat and slept. She figured it was because of all the painkillers she was on, but it didn't stop her from wanting to sleep for weeks.
The first time she was fully conscious she was laying in bed as Bex entered her room. She smiled as she saw Bex enter asking if she wanted to watch a movie.
Bex agreed and they put on The Notebook, and they spent time catching up and relaxing.
"Your parents called."
"What?"
"Your parents called. Yesterday when you were sleeping. They got the message and they're coming home tomorrow. They said they could only stop in, because they had another meeting to attend, but they're coming by. I think they said they have something to give you."
"Great, more material possessions to try and ease their guilt for the fact that they haven't been home in a year."
"I know you're mad at them now, but at least give them a chance. They do love you Cams."
"I know. Its just hard to tell sometimes."
Bex gave her a sympathetic smile and turned her attention back to the movie.
After a long time of silence, Bex spoke up.
"I wish Grant would do something like that for me, but he's too much of an idiot to think of it" She said, pointing to the romantic scene playing in the movie.
Cammie just laughed. "At least you have a boyfriend."
"C'mon Cammie. You know that every boy here worships the ground you walk on. Even Zach has a thing for you!"
"No he doesn't, he's just a cocky jerk who loves to flirt and happens to be my best friend. But he doesn't like me like that."
"Oh Cammie, when will you learn" Bex said with a teasing laugh.
Cammie just shot her a look and switched off the TV, as the movie had ended. Bex glanced at the clock, and realized it was almost eleven.
"I have to get back home, but I'll see you tomorrow darling." Bex said, as she blew her a kiss and flounced out her bedroom door.
Cammie just laughed at her crazy best friend. Just as she was going to go to sleep, she got a text from Zach.
"Hey you done faking an injury yet?"
She rolled her eyes in the darkness of her bedroom.
"Haha," she typed. "You're funny."
Moments later a response came. "I know. So what do you say to hanging out tomorrow?"
"Is Zachary Goode asking me on a date?"
"You wish it was a date."
"Okay. You caught me."
"I knew you were in love with me. I mean who can stay away. I'll pick you up at six and we'll do something."
"Okay, see you then loser. "
"Kay Sexy ;)"
Cammie blushed in the darkness at the response and plugged her phone into the charger. She laid down on her bed incredulously. The things that boy could do to her.
