-Three and a half years earlier: early December 2017-
Jaelyn was at the Jabot Headquarters trying to get a hold of Chelsea who was late for their meeting with Jack on a new clothing line. Jaelyn called again and again got voicemail and she said, "Come on Chels we need to get this meeting underway so you better get here now!"
Right then she heard, "Looking for me Jaelyn?"
Jaelyn whirled around and nearly snapped but said in a quiet voice, "It is about time you got here what was the hold up?"
Chelsea cringed and said, "Sorry there was traffic and getting here was a nightmare. There is some sort of crisis leading to a street being closed off in both directions."
Jaelyn shook her head and said, "Never mind Jack is expecting us."
Right then Jack came out of his office and said, "Jaelyn you have watch this."
Jack led them in his office and turned up the TV, "This is Vicky Clark reporting for Juju News. We are now giving you another update on the hostage situation at the Sparkly Jewelry store off of Market. We can now confirm one of the hostages is Genoa City's Chief of Police Paul Williams, no word on who the suspect is what his motive is and…"
That was all Jaelyn could take in and before she said anything Jack said, "Don't worry we can postpone the meeting Chelsea and I will get you there."
Without saying another word Chelsea led Jaelyn out of the office and down towards the parking structure. Before Jack followed he called his secretary and said, "Cancel my morning appointments I have a personal emergency. Thank you."

It seemed like a blur and soon they were at the location where the caution tape had marked off the street and the SWAT team, tactical team and the GCPD where everywhere. Jack, Chelsea and Jaelyn pleaded officers who would not budge and Jaelyn was near hysterics. When Chavez heard and saw them he headed over and told the officer he would take care of it, the officer nodded and Chavez turned to Jaelyn and said, "Jaelyn we are doing everything we can to get the situation resolved, the negotiator is doing everything she can."
Meanwhile inside the jewelry store the suspect was patrolling the area and making sure the hostages stayed quiet. The suspect was becoming more and more unhinged ignoring all demands given by the negotiator. He shouted, "Y'all better stay quiet or else."
Paul sat in his spot and prayed that he was about to do would go off without hitch. All the while he thought about his beautiful wife; one thing was for sure he was not going to let anyone to cause him to break his vows early. As soon as he convinced a customer and a different clerk to go up and to create a distraction even if they were hesitant at first. As the two managed to distracted Paul got into position and the right time he leapt on the suspect and him and wrestled with him and in the process caused the gun the suspect had to discharge.
Outside Chavez was talking with them when they heard a gunshot. Once again Jaelyn became hysterical because the first thing that came to mind was that Paul could possibly be dead. In the midst of her emotions raging high and crying she suddenly fainted with no warning. Chelsea tried to hold her up but was becoming deadweight when Jack saw what transpired and helped and picked her up. Chavez had gone back to the squad car and put on gear and prepared to go in the store whilst Kevin who had called in several ambulances called in one more for Jaelyn. When the last ambulance came Jack carried Jaelyn to the ambulance with Chelsea right behind him.
Once the EMTs had loaded Jaelyn on the gurney Jack said, "Chelsea you go with Jaelyn make sure she has company. I will stay here and keep you posted."
Chelsea nodded and went into the ambulance and weresoon on their way to Genoa City Memorial Hospital. During the ride Chelsea gave as much information as she could
Not long after, Jack made his way back to the outside perimeter where he saw that Chavez was helping a limping Paul come out of the store along with the rest of the hostages. The handcuffed suspect came out and last and was struggling and fighting the police.
When Paul saw Jack standing nearby he began to wonder. Chavez noted the change in his boss' face and helped him over to edge of the perimeter. Once there Paul said, "Jack what are you doing here? Doesn't Jaelyn and Chelsea have a meeting with you?"
Jack pointed to the news crews and said, "We were about to when I saw the breaking news and told Jaelyn, we all watched and as soon as we heard your name as one of the hostages we postponed the meeting and got Jaelyn as quick as possible."
Paul looked around and asked, "Where is she now?"
Jack answered, "She had fainted when we heard a gunshot she feared the worst and became hysterical. I sent Chelsea to go with Jaelyn in the ambulance, right now they are at Genoa City Memorial Hospital."
Knowing he needed to be checked out and patched up but was in hurry and said in determined urgency, "Chavez take me to the hospital and…"
Chavez interceded, "But sir you need to get checked out and…"
Paul insisted, "Can't I get checked out there you know I want to make sure my wife is okay."
Knowing sometimes it is not a good idea to argue with the Chief especially when it came the one he loved. Chavez nodded and convinced the EMTs he will make sure his boss got checked out at the hospital.
Chavez had driven off when Jack called Chelsea. After one ring he heard, "Jack, what is status?"
Jack answered, "Everything is okay, all hostages including Paul are safe and the suspect is in custody. Chavez is giving Paul the ride to the hospital to get checked out there."
Chelsea nodded and let out a sigh of relief; she knew how much bad luck Paul had endured in order to find his one true in love in Jaelyn and she knew there was no way he was going to let anything hamper their happiness.

Thirty minutes later Paul was sitting by Jaelyn bedside waiting for her to wake up. However, first had to be checked out by Dr. Rayburn where it was discovered he sustained a sprained right ankle and pulled a muscle in his left leg and had been pistol whipped. This was all from disarming and wrestling with the suspect who was taller and more muscular than him. He then gave Chavez his statement and Chavez led him to her room where he waited for her to wake up.
An hour later Jaelyn began stirring and was adjusting to the bright hospital lights. Once she did she turned her head to the right and when she saw her loving husband with a nasty bruise forming right above his left eye and a worried look on his face.
When Paul saw Jaelyn had awoken he moved his chair closer to her and placed his hand on her face and pulled her in closer. Following a brief kiss they leaned forehead to forehead and she asked, "Paul? I thought you..."
Paul finished, "You thought I was the one who got shot?"
Pausing briefly he caressed her face and added, "Baby I was not going to let him take me away from you."
Sharing another loving moment for a few more minutes when they heard a door knock, coming apart Jaelyn and said, "Come in."
Stitch went in and said, "Glad to see you Chief and glad to see you awake Mrs. Williams you gave us quite a scare."
Jaelyn and Paul only nodded and Stitch continued on and said, "Mrs. Williams do you remember what happened?"
Jaelyn thought, "Well I remember crying because I heard a gunshot and then waking up here and not much else."
Stitch nodded and said, "Okay I would like to ask you some personal question so I can confirm what caused your fainting I have an idea but wanted to be sure."
Jaelyn nodded and said, "Okay Dr. Rayburn go ahead."
Stitch began, "Do you remember when your last menstrual cycle was? Or have you experienced either fatigue, mood swings, feeling bloated, frequent urination, or nausea?"
Jaelyn went into deep thought and that was when it hit her; she thought about it she realized she had missed two periods and was feeling a bit moody, nauseous, tired and fatigued.
Jaelyn realized she needed to give her answer and she said, "Dr. Rayburn I have been feeling three of the symptoms you listed mood swings, feeling tired and fatigued and getting nauseous when I smelled coffee."
Stitch wrote it down and said, "Okay what you said confirmed the test I had ordered and doing the math you are pregnant and are eight weeks along and your due date should be in late June. Now I will give you and the Chief a few minutes before we discuss a course of plan."
With that Stitch left room and as he did he knew he had made their day with the happy news.
A few minutes the feeling finally sunk in for the two of them and Jaelyn said with excitement spilling over, "Honey I am pregnant! We are having a baby!"
Paul was in total awe; he was given another chance at fatherhood since he had not been there for Heather when she was growing up or for Ricky during his childhood he swore he would be there for their child.
Paul leaned and kissed Jaelyn hard and she knew that he ecstatic. Their dream and lives were getting better and better.
