Lesson 9: Things are Finally Settled
Now this time around, it was Antonio's turn to get over Lovina. It was idiotic of how much he cared for the Italian girl, but in his defence; he could not help it.
After a couple of weeks after her little statement, the Spaniard boy could not help but to appear by her locker as she took out her books, one Tuesday morning.
"Oi, pues... Hola." He smiled down at the brunette.
"Class calls." She mumbled as she shut her locker closed and slung her bag lazily around her shoulder.
"Can it wait for a little bit? The bell hasn't rung just yet." He reasoned.
"Well, school is far more important than any stupid thought that you might have..." The young Italian huffed rather loudly.
Antonio bit his bottom lip as if to hold a comment back, for he was quite upset with her. He took a hold of her upper arm to hold her back, he then dragged her down the hall; opposite from her class.
"Hey, bastard, what the hell are you doing?" She spat as he continued to pull her. "Let me go, idiota. Now."
"Lo siento, but you have to come with me." The Spaniard spoke no more until he pulled her all the way down the hall and up the stairs where they had shared a kiss.
His grip still held her upper arm securely, as if he was afraid she'd run away from him.
"Now, why the heck did you even bring me here?" She pursed her lips making sure not to show her embarrassment of what had happened here before.
"I really wanted to talk to you." He smiled sheepishly.
"About...?"
"About what happened here some weeks ago..." The boy swayed on the balls and heels of his feet, his hands now held together behind his back.
"You mean when you kissed me?" Lovina's eyebrow raised as a light blush dusted her cheeks.
"Yeah... Look, I really don't understand. If you like me, and I like you... Then we should get together..." The green eyed male bit his lower lip.
"Ha, it's not that easy." The short Italian scoffed.
There was a long silence as Antonio sighed. "I know, but if you don't think it can work out, then I should just give up on you."
Lovina kept silent and stayed standing still. Her tummy produced butterflies as her throat turned dry and ached. That would be the best of choices. She had promised herself that she would stop caring about 'idiotic' matters, and focus on her future.
"Maybe that would be for the best." She mumbled.
"Guess so..." His voice faded, as he stood straight for the bell had rung. "Well, I'm glad that we at least shared a kiss, a small one at that, but all the same. Gracias, mi amor. You've been great to me." He smiled and kissed both her cheeks in the Latin tradition. Antonio truly believed that she had been great to him, because he knew that at least he was on her mind even if she cursed him.
He held her hands in his and gave them one last squeeze before letting go and giving her a weak smile. "Hey, good luck with your test." He called as she headed for class.
"Thanks, idiota." She smiled back at him. It wasn't a fake smile nor one she normally pulls when she wins an argument, but rather a genuine one. It was a sweet one.
She strode past the crowd as a smile settled on her lips. The way that Antonio understood meant that they were still going to talk and fool around like they used but nothing serious or different from before. Just the usual teasing and hissing.
The following week, Lovina had been paired up with Matthew on Rat dissection, of which she was not too fond of.
"Hey." Matthew sighed loudly.
"Hi..." Lovina yawned as they put on their Lab coats and goggles.
"You seem rather tired, did you have any sleep?" The Canadian asked.
"If I sleep or not is none of your damn business..."
"It could be..." The blond put on his gloves.
"No it could not, now let's cut this mother fucker open and continue the lab." Lovina bit her bottom lip as she pinched the skin of the rat and began to cut.
The remaining part of the lab was held with silence between the two teenagers, they did not dare say a word because they knew it would eventually lead to a big fight about how Lovina is selfish and Matthew's an idiot.
"Good job." Matthew smiled lightly, leaving her a little irritated.
"Thanks..." She spat.
"Could we, you know, talk?" He asked her.
"There's nothing to talk about, I fucked up, and I'm sorry. I get it, I totally understand why you were upset, and I respect that. The thing was that I just wanted to help you out. But hey, it's only natural for me to fuck up. I'm not my sister, and just a simple sweet smile won't cut it. So I'm sorry I'm a complete shit head." Lovina's voice had cracked a little, but Matthew didn't want to point it out.
"Hey, I'm the one that should apologize, I shouldn't have been such a-"
"An asshole?" Lovina cut him off.
Matthew nodded lightly and shot her a soft smile. "So friends?" He lifted an eyebrow.
"Sorry, but I'm trying not to have friends or connections, so for now, just let me focus on my studies and we could possibly hang out some time and just be friends then, but not now." She shook her head.
"Sure, that would be great. I'd really like that. And you could possibly come over some time and we could watch a movie or something."
"Awesome." Lovina nodded slightly. "Well, see you around then, bye."
"Bye, Lovi." Matthew smiled lightly. Finally they had settled things and it felt like the world was at peace and nothing could possibly go wrong. It was lovely, right?
Wrong.
