Title: Christmas Baby; Chapter Ten (Happy New Year and Good-byes)

Summary: It is Christmas Eve and a baby gets dropped off at Station fifty-one. How do Matt and Kelly handle it? How do the rest feel. Who falls in love with the baby? Does the little baby find a home?

A/N: So glad you're still with me. I am finished and I do hope you liked this. This is the first multi-chapter story I finished in awhile. I have written stories of my own but it has been awhile. Now I know I can do it. Don't worry I'll finish my other story on here and don't worry I'm not finished yet. :D I'm working on another idea.

After everything settles down and everyone gets into a normal routine of their life New Year's Day is coming up. Since Chief Boden and his team worked Christmas they have off on New Years Day. Christopher Herrmann, Brian "Otis" Zvoneuek, Leslie Shay and Gabriela Dawson were throwing a New Years Eve Party at Molly's Pub for everyone.

Everyone chipped in and got a gift for Mattea and Julia. What they don't know is that Julia also got Firehouse Fifty-one a gift also, to remember them by. For everyone wanted to keep in touch, for the love of Mattea and her mother. To wish them well in life if they never saw one another again but keeping hope that maybe they would. Julia is so thankful for the group at Firehouse Fifty-one keeping her daughter safe and well cared for, and for the short time that she was with them all, deeply loved.

At eight-thirty pm. Everyone starts to show up at Molly's for the New Year's Eve party. Matt Casey is the first to show. Julia smiles as he comes over to her and gives her a hug and a kiss on the cheek. She places her daughter in Matt's arms. Mattea looks up at one of her many saviors whom would lay down his life for her. "Hey Sweetie. How's my girl?" Matt smiles down at her. The baby waves her arms and smiles up at him.

The door to, Molly's opens again to emit a new group of people coming in for a night of celebrating of the coming of the New Year. Chief Wallace Boden is among the group that has come in for the festivities. Antonio Dawson is behind Wallace Boden. The other Police Officers were also invited. Hank Vought send his best wishes along with Antonio because not everyone got along with him. If Matt Casey and Hank Vought were in the same room it is like mixing oil with water. It doesn't go well.

After and hour and a half Molly's Pub is filled with everyone from station Fifty-One that worked on Christmas. Also the Officers that helped with getting Nathan Raines. Jeff Clarke goes over to Matt Casey whom still held Mattea, and gave him a pointed look.

Matt sheepishly looks up at Jeff and smiles as he hands Mattea over to him. Jeff nods his thanks and smiles back at the truck lieutenant. Jeff hold Mattea that her feet are at his stomach. "Hey Angel girl. How are you doing? I'll miss you so much. You're just so sweet. If you need anything just give your Uncle Jeff a call." Jeff smiles down at Mattea. Mattea looks up at Jeff very intently listening to him.

Julia, sits at the bar taking it all in. Just so blessed and filled with joy to have her daughter back and to have many new friends that made her and Mattea part of their special family. Her parents and sister and her sister's husband were somewhere in Molly's also.

Mattea gets passed around by all of the firefighters at one time or another that everyone gets to hold her and say their good-byes and to give her kisses. Matt Casey, gets everyone from Firehouse Fifty-One in a group shot and he waves Julia over. He gives his Camera to Cindy Herrmann and she waits until everyone is gathered together and takes three pictures of the group. Matt smiles his thanks as Cindy sets his camera on the bar.

Wallace Boden hands the gift to Julia so she can open it. She opens it and it is a eight by five photo of the Station Fifty-One firefighters standing in front of the station. It is in a wooden frame. Julia smiles. She also gets a gift basket filled with things for Mattea and gift cards. She also gets and address book already filled out on most of the pages. So she wouldn't lose touch of her new extended family.

Julia hands her gift to Wallace Boden and he opens it. It is a picture of her and Mattea in a wooden frame so they would always be remembered. No danger in that because they would always be part of the Firehouse Fifty-One family. Wallace Boden would hang the picture at the station with the other pictures on the wall.

Julia's Dad takes her gifts out to the SUV so no one had to worry about it later. Matt Casey finally got the baby back and held her at his shoulder patting her back. Her eyes were closing in sleep. Content to be with the truck lieutenant whom held her safe. Julia snapped a picture with her phone and Matt looked up in surprise. "What is your number so I can send it to you." Julia asked. Matt gave her his number and Julia programmed it into her phone.

Kelly Severide went up to his fellow lieutenant to see Mattea nestled in his arms asleep. "For a price I will give her up." Matt snickers toward Kelly. Kelly just shakes his head and laughs back. Glad that everyone gets to say Good-bye and to keep in touch.

Matt places the baby in Kelly's arms. Kelly smiles down at the sleeping baby. He can see that she is growing fast in the time that he didn't see her. Kelly gives Mattea a kiss on her forehead. He would miss her so much. Somehow Mattea made a home in his heart and he didn't open his heart to easily to anyone anymore. Only to a select few. Who wouldn't have a open heart toward the sweet little baby Mattea? He looks over at Matt whom fell in love with the baby the moment that he first picked her up.

Matt looks over at Kelly feeling his friend watching him. "Never change man. Never change. Always remember I have your back." Kelly looks at Matt whom nods his head. Matt smiles at his friend knowing that Kelly is telling him the truth. He will always have his back and be part of his life forever. No matter what. They may have their ups and downs but it only makes them stronger.

The clock is slowly ticking closer to the New Year. Full of hopes and dreams. Julia is still sitting at the bar. Leslie Shay and Gabriela Dawson go sit beside her. "Hey Girl. I want to wish you well. Good luck and I do hope you find some happiness.' Leslie tells Julia. "Thank you so much. My daughter is my happiness and joy but maybe someday I'll find someone to love me for real. For now I have my parents and my sister and her husband. To get to know them is going to be nice. I'm glad I have them." Julia looks over at her family and smiles and they smile back.

"If you need anything just let us know. Keep in touch and if you're ever in the area again please look us up. You're part of the family." Leslie smiles at Julia. "Thank you." Julia says. "Yeah please stay in touch." Gabby says smiling. "Yeah I will." Julia nods her head. It felt so nice to be part of another "family" that would look out and care for you no matter what.

Midnight is fast approaching. Everyone is gathered around the T.V. for the local news reporters in and around Chicago welcoming the New Year. Herrmann is counting down until the New Year hits. "Five…Four…Three…Two…One…HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!" Everyone joins in the cheering, hugging one another and chase kisses. After about half and hour everyone helps to clean up and head home. All the Firefighters see that Julia and Mattea get home safe.

"Happy New Year Everyone!" Julia waves good-bye to them all. Everyone waves good-bye to her. Matt quickly runs up to mother and daughter and gives, them each a kiss on the cheek and he heads back over to Kelly and Leslie. Everyone disappears into the night of the New Year and Julia goes inside with Mattea in her arms. Julia is smiling and happy to have the firefighters in her life.

Everyone is gathered at the airport a few days later to say one last good-bye and well wishes. Julia's parents own a private plane which they will take back to their home in Washington state. Julia won't have to worry about taking care of Mattea all by herself. Her family will help her get back on her feet and help where they could without being pushy.

Jeff Clarke steps up and gives Julia a hug. "Do take care." Jeff smiles at Julia and he gets to hold Mattea one last time. "Hey little Angel girl. I love you and I will never forget you. Do keep in touch." Jeff gives Mattea a kiss on her little cheek and says the last part to Julia. "I have your phone number programmed into my cell phone along with everyone else's phone number. I will never forget any of you." Julia looks around the group with a smile on her face and unshed tears shining in her eyes.

"Good luck and take care." Matt kindly smiles at Julia. The Reynolds family gets on the plane. The group steps back and watches as the plane is getting ready for take off. Kelly Severide puts his arms around Matt and Leslie as the plane begins to speed down the runway for takeoff. Christopher Herrmann and his family stand together. Chief Boden is there with Antonio Dawson and the other Officers. Gabby has her right arm around her big brother's back side hugging him. Peter Mills stands with, Capp, Otis, Joe Cruz, and Randy "Mouch" McHolland.

The plane is a tiny dot in the horizon before anyone moves. They all head to Molly's Pub to be together, not ready to go home. Firehouse Fifty-one will never forget how a small tiny baby changed their lives for the better.
