Royal Arrival.
Chapter 10:
Author's Note: Really thankful for the reviews, they make me want to get these chapters out faster. :D
Power Level: As for Gohan's power level, Celeria's scouter cut out at 700,000,000 - That wasn't Gohan's maximum, but it was enough for Celeria to be certain that Gohan could beat Cooler. Gohan's max is over 1 trillion in Super Saiyan. He only transformed to the first stage of Super Saiyan at the lookout. After a while of gaining strength from new tiers of Super Saiyan, I figured their powers don't grow as fast after a certain point, correct me if I'm wrong, but that's my view. I won't be focussing on power level numbers much after that anyway, it's difficult to calculate where the numbers would go and could be limiting. It was merely for story advancing and a reference to the movie where you see Vegeta's brother, Tarble(Who doesn't exist in this story).
For those hoping Celeria goes to school, you may just get it in the next chapter or the one after. Bulma is concocting up a plan to be sure. I'm glad people are liking my OC character. :)
The next day of school wasn't quite what Gohan would call comfortable. As he walked the halls, students gave him and Mirai Trunks odd looks - well - mainly himself. He knew it had a lot to do with his first day there, which quite honestly, Gohan started to regret somewhat. Even if he did have a bit of fun. He'll have to keep himself on the down-low for a while until the stares died down. He wore baggy clothes also which his mother eventually caved in on letting him wear and by extension, Mirai was glad at not having to wear the uniform either.
"Yoo-hoo! Gohan! Mirai!" Erasa hollered from down the hallway. She ran up to the two demi-Saiyan's and stopped in front of them, resting her hands on her knees to catch her breath.
"Whoa, slow down there Erasa. What's up?" Gohan chuckled.
"You, silly." Erasa replied, poking Gohan in the chest, causing him to lean back a bit. "Huh? What about me?" Gohan questioned.
"Everyone in school is talking about you, you know?" Erasa giggled.
"Oh yeah? What are they saying?" Gohan asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Well. They're all placing bets on who would win in a fight between you or Videl. They're hoping to see you two fight in the WMAT." Erasa said excitedly.
"Huh?!" Gohan was taken aback "But I never..." Gohan sighed.
"Told you so, Gohan," Mirai smirked "Hey Erasa." Mirai greeted to the girl. "Hi Mirai." Erasa greeted back with a wink, causing the demi-Saiyan to blush.
"There you are," Videl's voice could be heard from behind them, so they swung around to meet the girl "I suppose since Erasa is with you, you've already heard?"
"...Yeah..." Gohan replied less than enthused. "Hey! Don't you dare back out now!" Videl warned him.
Gohan scratched the back of his head in usual Son manner "No, I'm not backing out." Gohan reassured her.
"Good. Because I can't wait until I finally beat you." Videl said matter-of-factly, causing Gohan and Mirai to sweat-drop.
"I guess I can join..." Gohan said apprehensively. The bell rang for school to start and the group began heading for class, well, after Gohan and Mirai finished covering their ears and met up with Sharpener.
From then on the day went pretty smoothly for the Saiyan duo with the odd teen coming up to Gohan saying they were supporting him in the fight, not nearly as many as Videl got considering she was the daughter of the man who 'saved the world from the evil Cell'. Some red-head girl, Angela, or whatever her name was that Sharpener had pointed out, was apparently stalking him for some odd reason - She seemed to be in some of his classes, which thankfully she was always on the opposite side of the room with her own group of friends. Speaking of Sharpener, he had stopped calling him 'Nerd-Boy' and called him by his real name - He was overall much nicer towards Gohan.
"Hey, Gohan." Sharpener called out from the desk behind him. The group of teens were currently in Social Studies.
"Yeah? What's up?" Gohan gave ear to him.
"Have you joined any afterschool clubs?" Sharpener asked him.
"No, I haven't." Gohan replied.
"Then you should join the Satan Dojo, you even get a free lesson by Hercule himself sometimes. It might pay off in your next fight with Videl." Sharpener offered. He was obviously still confident in the Satan technique of the man he admired. Mirai snorted to which Sharpener frowned at him..
Videl had tuned-in on the conversation just then "Pfft. Look at how those lessons paid off yesterday..." Videl said in a snarky tone, getting a rise out of Sharpener.
"How is lessons from the man who beat Cell, useless?!" Sharpener hissed. "Well they obviously didn't do you any good." Videl countered. Gohan found it odd how Videl didn't think lessons from her father would be beneficial. Yesterday she never even showed a hint of Hercule's fighting techniques in her fight with him. He couldn't help but think that some of her moves were familiar, heck of course they had to be familiar to Gohan, some of her moves were his fathers.
"Sorry, but I'm training by myself right now. And I don't think I have the time after school to be joining any clubs." Gohan interjected. Sharpener looked disappointed.
"He hardly even trains with me..." Mirai grumbled.
Gohan chuckled "I'll try to make some more time to help you out." He said apologetically.
"In-between studying, training in the GC, getting in fights with my father- and your new girlfriend?" Mirai Trunks replied, unconvinced.
"She's not my girlfriend!" Gohan shouted at Mirai getting out of his seat, forgetting where he was in that moment, the classroom all had their eyes on him, Mirai just chuckled.
"Mr Son! Would you like to share what you have to say with the rest of the class?" The teacher questioned him in her foreign accent.
Gohan was red in the face "No ma'am, sorry ma'am!" Gohan apologized and sat down quickly, silently cursing Mirai under his breath for making him do that.
"Fine! Then would you please refrain from raising your voice in the class!" The teacher scolded him.
'I wonder who the girl is that Mirai was referring to...' Videl contemplated.
"oOo~ Does Gohan have a secret girlfriend that he's not telling us about?" Erasa chimed in, always willing to hear the new latest gossip.
"Does she go to this school? I'll bet any girlfriend of Gohan's is in Advanced Calculus like him." Sharpener added with a smirk on his face.
Gohan frowned, still scarlet in the face "She's just a friend and no, she doesn't go to this school." He grumbled, Erasa pined not having gotten any juicy details, she was about to press for information but Videl's watch began beeping, "Go ahead Chief."
"Videl! We really need your assistance in downtown, ASAP! We don't know what these things are, they look like demons with some weird dark aura coming off of them, bullets don't seem to be hurting them!" The Police Chief informed her, sounds of gunfire could be heard in the background, most likely of desperation.
Videl frowned "Alright, I'm on my way!" Videl replied.
"Wait Videl, you have to be very careful, I don't think these things are normal!" The Police Chief urged.
"Okay, I'm coming," Videl said finally, ending the transmission and then got out of her chair sprinting for the door "Sorry, have to go, police business." She told the teacher a she ran passed.
"That's fine, be careful." The teacher replied nonchalantly.
"You hear that Mirai? Something doesn't seem right." Gohan whispered to him.
"Yeah, should I go and check it out? Lunch is in 15 minutes, so you can join in if I'm not back before then. Besides, it's not like the teacher will let you go after shouting during class." Mirai offered, Gohan gave him the nod and Mirai raised his hand "Excuse me miss." Mirai called for the teachers attention.
"What is it Mirai?" She questioned.
"May I please be excused?" Mirai asked the teacher. "What for?" She frowned.
"Uh," Mirai was thinking of an excuse "I-I need to use the bathroom!" He finished.
The teacher took her merry time contemplating whether to let him go before finally saying "Fine! Just make sure you're back before lunch starts." The teacher conceded.
"Thanks!" Mirai sprinted out of the classroom, making sure to make it seem as human as possible and made his way to the roof before changing into his disguise and blasting off, following Videl's energy signal.
Gohan was waiting impatiently for the bell to ring, looking up at the clock every couple of minutes. He really wanted to know what was going on. Sharpener was just content in dozing off and Erasa was fiddling around on her cellphone.
Sure enough time had passed and the lunch bell rang, getting used to the bell Gohan just covered his ears and jogged out of the class with the rest of the students and began to head towards the roof of the building, leaving Sharpener and Erasa to wonder why Gohan was in a rush- and not in the direction of the cafeteria.
"So Celeria, what was it like to travel through space?" Kid Trunks asked, sitting next to her on the couch in the living room watching TV "Gohan said he got to do it when he travelled to Planet Namek, it must be cool right?" Trunks eagerly awaited an answer.
Celera took a moment to ponder it, there was a mixture of feelings it brought up. Leaving planets she once called home and people she called friends... She supposed there was moments where she had could just gaze out of the windows at the vastness of it; stars, planets and all "Yeah, it was pretty cool." She gave him a smile.
Bulma came barging in to the living room "You may want to watch this." Bulma said as she flipped channels on the TV from whatever they were watching to the news.
ZTV news came on the screen with a birds-eye view of the situation from a helicopter showing police firing on the monsters all in vein "-from what we've been told they broke through from under the ground and started attacking people. Police have tried to barricade the creatures in to contain them but it doesn't look like that is going to last long- Wait a minute, it seems we have a newcomer who has begun fighting these monsters - It looks like none other than our crime-fighting hero Videl! With her there, we have nothing to worry about folks!"
"Videl? That's Hercule's daughter! Whatever those things are, if they can survive being shot at by bullets, she stands no chance." Bulma said.
"Who's Hercule?" Celeria asked.
"Some idiot who stole Gohan's credit for defeating Cell." Kid Trunks said with a frown.
"Someone stole his credit? Why doesn't he get it back off of him? It should be easy enough." Celeria said, confused.
"There's more to it than that. He doesn't want the publicity it brings. People here tend to invade the personal space of others without a second thought of how they might feel about it. That's why he uses a disguise." Bulma informed.
"I See..." 'Perhaps I should get one then...' Celeria frowned, focussing back on the TV "Uh... Um, it seems Videl is backing off. Where's Hercule when you ne- Wait, is that one of the Gold Fighters? It looks like it! He just punched one in the face and sent it flying away from Videl! With these two fighting I don't think we need to worry much."
"That's my son! What is he doing out of school?! Ugh, whatever, a hero is going to be a hero!" Bulma squealed excitedly.
They watched Mirai picking apart the group of monsters for a few moments. "I wonder what they are..." Celeria muttered.
"I've never seen anything like them," Bulma replied. "By the way, has anyone seen Vegeta? I haven't seen him all morning."
"I haven't seen him either, not even in his Gravity Chamber." Celeria replied.
"Nope, me neither." Kid trunks also replied.
"Ugh. The things I put up with from that guy." Bulma muttered to herself.
"The Gold Fighter seems to be tearing them apart but more keep coming! Whoa~! Another Gold Fighter just appeared out of nowhere but now all the monsters seem to be swarming on him!"
"That's Gohan!" Celeria said, getting up from her seat.
"It seems more of the monsters are appearing and aren't relenting on the newest fighter to the scene."
"I should go help them." Celeria said suddenly.
"Hmm? Well, you can if you want but you might want to cover your face so no one recognizes you, they would connect you to the 'Gold Fighters'." Bulma warned and then gave her a smirk "It's not like I can stop you, just be careful." Celeria gave a nod to Bulma before bolting to her room. Seeing Celeria jump at the opportunity to see Gohan gave the blue-haired genius an idea.
"Can I go?" Kid Trunks asked pleadingly to his mother.
"Absolutely not." Bulma said firmly, getting a whine from the boy.
Gohan appeared next to Mirai Trunks in an intersection of Downtown Satan City using Instant Transmission and gave one of the monsters behind him a punch to the gut sending it flying. Gohan got a good look at one of them, it had a humanoid appearance, relatively short and muscled build, it was the colour of black with spiked-back black hair to match it, there were short black horns protruding from it's forehead with red eyes focussed right on him and a sickly black aura surrounding it "What's the situation?" Gohan asked finally.
"I'm not sure, they just keep coming up from the ground, I can't sense any life force from them. They don't seem very smart but are quite strong and can easily swarm you if not careful. Watch yourself. We also have an onlooker, so no names." Mirai warned, Gohan noticing a small figure, that of Videl watching the scene from behind an overturned squad car who seemed to be injured "Huh? What're they doing?"
The demon-like beings began to cluster together glaring maddeningly at Gohan, they counted five of them all looking poised to attack before their red eyes began glowing and one of them let out a deafening screech "The Keeper must die!"
"Keeper?" Gohan didn't have much time to think on it and decided to take a mental note of it before they were on him, disregarding their previous opponent, he took to the air jumping backwards before shooting a beam at one and disintegrating it. They weren't going to relent on him though and flew up to swarm him again. Mirai Trunks jumped and grabbed one by the leg and slammed it into the ground before blasting it to dust with a yellow beam.
Gohan dodged the groups kicks and punches and came in with his own kick to one of them splitting it in half before it dissolved into a thick black miasma, being mindful of the other two still on him. Another punch came towards Gohan so he grabbed the fist with his left hand, pulled the second demon into the back of his fist making the demons head fly off and that demon too dissolved into a thick black smog.
'One left' Gohan thought as he charged the last one, disappearing behind it and putting a palm to it's back and bathing it in a golden light, disintegrating it. 'I think that's the last of-' Before Gohan could finish that thought he heard a sizzle coming from the ground.
"More incoming!" Mirai shouted to Gohan and soon enough ten more demons came up from the ground. "Bugger..." Gohan muttered.
'I'm getting close, I can sense Gohan and Mirai up ahead, I hope they're alright, with whatever those things are...' Celeria deep in thought, flying through the clouds as to stay out of view, a blue streak jetted behind her. She had her hair done up into a ponytail, a blue bandana covering her mouth and nose, with a pair of shades on.
'Why were those things were focussed on Gohan...?' She thought, speeding up as fast as she could go.
"Is it me, or do they seem to be getting stronger since the last batch?" Mirai questioned.
"Seems like it. Let's just stay sharp, we have to keep fighting. They'll have to stop appearing eventually...I hope." Gohan replied as five of the demons began attacking him. 'Gods... They're still on me.' he thought dealing with two of them rather swiftly but hadn't noticed another that had snuck up on him from behind and took a swipe at him with it's long claws leaving three large cuts on his left arm. Gohan winced, holding his arm with his other one and kicked the one away that had cut him. Another came to take a swipe at him, this time to the face but was interrupted mid-pursuit with a right-fist lodged in it's stomach by none other than Celeria who then kicked it away with her left-leg before blasting it with a blue beam from her right hand, disintegrating it.
"Are you alright?" Celeria turned to Gohan, noticing the three large gashes on his arm, looking with concern.
"Yeah, it's just a scratch, nothing to worry about." Gohan waved her off chuckling "But how did you know what was going on?" Gohan asked, confused.
"Well, you are all over TV." She replied, pointing to the helicopter that was still hovering around.
"Oh... Right. Almost forgot about that." Gohan said sheepishly "Well, seeing as you're here, we may as well finish this. Just stay close."
"Right." Celeria nodded, turning to the demons to which some were now glaring at her with glowing red eyes. Gohan made a mental note of this, making sure to cover her back.
"Burning Attack!" Mirai Trunks shouted with his hands facing forwards and fingers spread apart, shooting a bright yellow and orange flare at the last remaining demon-like creature. "Man, this has to be it." Trunks wiped his brow.
The three of them waited a while for more to appear until they were content that no more were going to show up. "Whew. Looks like they've finally given up and gone home. Wherever that is..." Gohan was glad, checking his watch to see he had 20 minutes before next class. 'I haven't even had anything to eat yet.'
"Thanks for the help." Mirai thanked, giving an appreciative look to Celeria.
"Yeah, thanks for that, those things were beginning to get annoying." Gohan thanked her also. "It was no problem." She replied to them.
"Beginning to get annoying? I thought they got annoying when you used a Masenko on them." Mirai Trunks joked.
Gohan scowled "It's only because I haven't eaten anything yet." Gohan told a half-truth.
"Your arm." Celeria said suddenly causing the group to focus on the blood now trailing down Gohan's arm from the cuts he received during the fight.
"Yeah, I suppose I should get it fixed up soon." Gohan said sheepishly.
Celeria walked up to him and grabbed his arm examining it, he winced slightly, she raised an eyebrow to him "Just a scratch?" She asked, not convinced.
"Uh... Yeah." Was Gohan's response in defeat. Mirai snickered at his embarrassment.
"Stand still," She said simply before placing a hand over the cuts and focussing on healing them. An orange glow engulfed his arm as the cuts closed up stemming the blood trail leaking from his arm "There, that should do it." She said finally after the healing was done, letting go of his arm.
Gohan flexed his arm and threw a few punches with it "Wow, my arm feels completely new!" Gohan said with amazement "Thanks!"
Celeria was about to reply when they all heard a cough which sounded like it came from one of the upturned police vehicles, Mirai leaned down to whisper to Celeria "Hey that's Videl, someone from my school, I think she injured her leg trying to fight these things. Do you think you'd be able to help her?"
Celeria gave him a nod and walked over to where Videl was situated, the police force by then had already made their escape, far too frightened to stick around. Peering behind the upturned car she saw a girl around her age leaning against the back of the car, obviously in pain. The girl, Videl, noticed her and began backing away "W-Who are you? Are those t-things gone?" Videl stuttered, quite shaken up about what had happened.
"Stay calm. I'm not going to hurt you. They're gone." Celeria replied, reassuring her.
Videl nodded, a slight relief washing over her "You were at the mall yesterday, weren't you?" She asked suddenly.
Celeria nodded "I heard you were injured, which leg was it?"
Videl took a few moments before replying after a surge of pain went through her "My right leg. The shin."
"Okay." Celeria placed a hand above Videl's right shin.
"W-What are you doing?" Videl said, tensing up.
"Just remain still. This won't hurt, I promise." Celeria replied. Videl was hesitant but nodded her confirmation.
An orange glow signifying the healing process radiated from Celeria's palm to wash over Videl's leg, healing whatever ailed her. Celeria finished up and then stood "You had a fracture, but it's gone now." Celeria informed her.
Sure enough, Videl could feel no more pain coming from her leg when she moved it "Thank you. But how did-" Videl began, questions swirling through her head like a tornado.
"There's too much to explain, you won't understand right now. You should be able to walk." Celeria said finally before leaving and joining Gohan and Mirai.
"We don't have much time but I think we need to discuss what happened here with Piccolo and Dende. I'll take us there with Instant Transmission." Gohan said quietly in case there was anyone listening in.
"Instant Transmission?" Celeria asked.
"Oh right, remember when I put my fingers to my head and disappeared with Goten yesterday? It's basically that. It transports you anywhere instantly as long as you have an energy signature to lock on to." Gohan informed.
"Huh... I had wondered what happened."
"Just place your hand on my shoulder and I'll send us there." Gohan told her.
"Okay." She nodded, doing so. Mirai following suit. Gohan placed his middle and index finger to his head and they disappeared.
"They're gone." Videl slumped, leaning against the squad car. She had seen most of the fight, the 'light-tricks' as her father called them, saw that girl close up a wound on that guys arm and then heal her fractured leg right before her eyes. She doubted she'd let that girl try to heal her if she hadn't seen it before with that guy.
She had a feeling that things didn't add up with the Cell games and the Gold Fighters, she always had that doubt at the back of her mind, same as the doubt with the 23rd WMAT - Her father said those were tricks too. Even if she said she had that doubt, she knew no one would believe her, then began to lie to herself and others saying they were tricks - She really wanted to believe her father, wanted to respect him.
The techniques used at the Cell Games were similar to those of the 23rd WMAT- A tournament she had a tape of that she watched religiously and tried to incorporate some of Goku's moves into her own fighting style, that of her secret, favourite Martial Artist of course. Having her leg healed right before her eyes had sealed the deal, they weren't 'tricks'. She was angry, angry at her father for lying to her and everyone for so long. But no one would believe her if she tried to tell them, Erasa seemed to be having doubts herself but that's as far as it would go. Most will heed my fathers word without a thought.
'Perhaps I'll see something like it come next tournament. That Gohan and Mirai are a secretive bunch to be sure, much like the Gold Fighters, they don't procrastinate like nearly everybody else in Martial Arts. Gohan is obviously no amateur when it comes to Martial Arts and Mirai may be the same. They may be key to learning about the power those Gold Fighters use.'
Vegeta stood cross-armed over a mountainous region in the Northern Wastelands, staring into the distance with a scowl well-known for him for what had been the better part of the morning, images of his fight with Gohan had been plaguing his conscious since yesterday.
'Why? Why was I so easily swatted aside by... Him?' Vegeta thought with a growl. 'He's only slightly stronger than his father - Who is only slightly stronger than me.' He thought that last part with disgust. 'No matter...' Vegeta smirked 'It won't take me long to surpass that third-class clown of a father of his once I dedicate my entire schedule to training.' He chuckled to himself.
Vegeta's smirk turned back to a face of seriousness 'The brat must be hiding some newfound power of his, or else it wouldn't make any sense for me to be defeated so quickly. Kami-Forbid, he was born with a power-level higher than that of any Saiyan previously on record if Radditz's scouter is anything to go by, even higher than... My own- It could be some sort of genetic mutation causing him to gain such power- a side-effect of the fusion between Saiyans and Humans - But neither my son nor Kakarot's youngest brat have shown any sign of being out of the ordinary, not even a hint of that blasted hidden power of his, no matter how much I try to bring such a power out of my son, he doesn't show any sign of it.' Vegeta growled in anger once again.
'Celeria said she had the same hidden power and if that's the case, she could also possess the same potential as him. What is their connection? She came here for him, obviously and he's protective enough of her to deny Piccolo's scrutiny of her even if he's only following protocol of random arrivals from outer space- Could it be- Bah! That is of no concern to me for now.'
Vegeta had his left arm at his side now whilst staring at his right palm 'Or could it be that he has found a new plateau of power to draw strength from... Maybe a combination of the many factors...?'
Vegeta stared at his palm for a few moments longer until a smirk broke out across his face 'Whatever the case, Gohan, I hope you're ready to show me the full extent of your powers, because come this next tournament - And I know you'll be there-' "I will be coming for you." Vegeta balled his hand into a fist and began laughing at the anticipation for their battle.
Footnote; Uh-Oh Gohan, you just made a new rival, the Dark Prince himself! :D
