Hey people. So I've realized how much I have been using short dialogues in recent chapters. I'm trying to fix that. As you can see there are actual paragraphs in this chapter. (wow!) So yeah, I hope you guys like it. I do not own Percy Jackson.

Chapter 10: Encender

Leo

The drive home was relatively uneventful. I really don't want to get into much detail, but there were a few conversations between Jason, Calypso and I. I asked her how exactly she knew Percy. I'm sure he already told you about that, so no need for repetition. She asked me what was happening with him. I guess you know that too. Look, that all isn't important. What's important is what happened when we got inside.

Jason hopped out of the car as soon as we pulled into the driveway. He mumbled a small "Thanks Leo," but it was all but inaudible, especially with the car door closing at the same time. He was inside the door before I was even finished unbuckling. Calypso had opened the door but I reached out and placed my hand on her arm.

"Hey," I said, trying to sound calmer then I was, "maybe we could go to a movie or something. Cause we haven't cleaned the house or anything since you came over last time and-"

"Hey," she stopped me. "I really don't mind the clutter. But I think this is about something else. If this is about you getting embarrassed about Gleeson, he wasn't bad. But if this is about the other thing, I won't ask about that stuff again. Trust me."

To be honest, I was just a little nervous about bring her back in. They all think we're in some sort of relationship, which I guess considering the facts wouldn't be too far of a stretch. I mean, the attack was part of it. A part of me was afraid that I would have one again. "It wasn't anything," I said, "I was just saying." We both got out of the car and headed to the house.

Now I don't think I described the condition of the house last time. Let me just set the scene a little, ok? The house was, to be perfectly honest, a mess. There were pizza boxes and Chinese food containers cluttering the kitchen table. I guess when you have three teenagers all around the same age living in the same house, especially around 16; the kitchen is bound to be a mess. There was this really strange stain in the living room. Nobody actually knows what it is, or where it came from. We tended to just ignore it. Likewise we ignored the heavy layer of dust on the television, and the river of DVDs surrounding it.

Today, though, all of that was pilling up into the back of my mind. As soon as I opened the door for Calypso, I noticed it all. I also noticed the short stack of dishes in the sink, and the slight odor of the trash. I started to regret procrastinating cleaning. "Sorry it's such a mess" I said, trying to sound as stoic as I could.

"Hey, I've been in it before, remember?" Her voice was almost laugh-like. "I think it's homey." She plopped down on the slightly discolored sofa. "So, what movie are we seeing tonight?"

I smile and went down to the river. I had pulled a few candidates out the night before, but I decided to go through again in case I missed something. I hadn't. "Ok," I said, picking up the small pile I had laid out. "We have: Pulp Fiction, both the Kill Bills, Reservoir Dogs,-"

"I'm not feeling Tarintino, to be honest." She said.

"Alright," I said, placing those movies to the side, "we also have: Fight Club,-"

"When I said Tarintino, I kinda meant anything violent." She said. That was disappointing.

"Alright," I said again, as I put aside half the movies in my hand. "We have: Easy A, The Hangover, A whole bunch of Disney…" I laid the rest out in a line on the coffee table. "Which one?"

She sorted through the selection I had laid in front of her. She picked up The Big Lebowski. "I've heard this one is good."

"Yeah it's really good." I said. "You wanna watch that?"

"Sure."

"Alright, well first I'm gonna use the bathroom, but that sounds good to me." I said, turning away from her.

"Alright." She said.

As I started walking away, her phone rang. I noticed that she let it ring until I was too far away to hear it. I really don't want to tell you about my trip, if that's ok with you. I'll sum it up with; it didn't take very long. She was still on the phone. I stayed back to give her a bit of privacy. Ok that was a lie. I decided to spy on her conversation. I know, it's kind of stalker-y, but I just wanted to know what it was about. What I heard definitely surprised me. "Look," she said, almost forcefully, "I really don't care how sorry you are. I need it… By the end of the week… Well I kind of promised somebody that…" She wiped a bit of sweat off her brow. "Alright. Just please," Her voice broke a little, "this is very important… Yes I know…" I think she was crying here. I decided to come in at that point, cause this was just really confusing, and I felt bad just standing there. "Alright, I love you… Bye." She composed herself quickly.

"Calypso," I asked, "What's wrong?"

"It's nothing, I just left something at my old place in Ogygia, and my dad told me he'd ship it to me but he said there was a problem and now I'm kind of screwed." She explained

"Well what was it?" I asked.

"It wasn't anything for you to worry about." She said. She started towards the door. "Look I should get going. I forgot about a project I have to do so let's do the movie this weekend, ok?"

"Ok," I said, more than a little disappointed. "Do you need a ride?"

"No, I'll just get a taxi or something."

"It's not a problem, just tell me where you're living and-"

"I said I'm fine." She snapped. Her voice softened right after. "You drove me from the hospital all the way here, I couldn't ask you to go that way again."

"It's near the hospital then?" I asked, "It's only like ten minutes, really I can drive you."

"Leo," She said, obviously angered. "Thank you for letting me come over, but I'd feel more comfortable if you didn't drive me home."

I stepped back. "Alright," I said, "if that makes you comfortable. Sorry."

She took a deep breath, clenching her hands in front. "Look," she said, "I really gotta go. I really do appreciate you're offer, but I kind of just want to be alone right now, ok?"

"Yeah," I said, "No problem. So this weekend?"

"Yeah, that sounds good." She said. "See you in school."

"Yeah," I said, "See you." As I waved goodbye, I started thinking about how strange she was acting. She definitely has a secret, I thought, and I'm going to find out what.

To Be Continued…

So what'd you think of that? Was it good? Was it bad? Was it ugly? Tell me what you think with a review. Follow and favorite if you want, but reviews are my food source. So until next time, make good decisions. Peace!
