Jace spluttered and coughed. The last thing he remembered was tackling Isabelle and Alec out of the jet. His eyes fluttered open and he tried to move his arms, but he couldn't. They were chained behind his back. His feet were chained down as well. Jace closed his eyes briefly before reopening them. His eyes flickered around the room, taking it all in. There were concrete walls enclosing him and light bulbs flickered constantly.
"Sleeping Beauty finally arises," a voice purred in the shadows.
Clary screamed. It had been three hours since her water broke. No one had been able to get in contact with Jace, Isabelle, or Alec. Clary was in so much pain. All she wanted was her husband to comfort her and tell her that everything was going to be okay. Was that all to ask? She didn't care at the moment if Jace was with her or not. She just wanted to hear his voice comforting her and telling her that he'd be there soon to see his children. How was Clary supposed to name the children? She didn't know what names Jace would approve of and which he wouldn't.
"Livia Cecily and Julian Skylar Herondale," Clary gasped out. Everyone looked at Clary with confused eyes. "I don't care if Jace isn't answering his phone. Someone text him and let him know the names of his children!" She growled as another contraction hit her. Then tears sprung in her eyes. "Do you think he'll hate them? Maybe I should change them."
Simon was the first to protest. "Clary, they're perfect. Jace is an idiot if he doesn't like them."
Happiness shined in Clary's eyes as well as tears. "So you like them?"
"We all do," Simon said softly. "They're the perfect fit for the twins."
Magnus was about to add to that when he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He excused himself and walked down the long hall. There was one new message waiting for Magnus when he pulled his phone out.
Call me. It's urgent. Don't tell Clary. -Alec
Immediately, Magus went onto Alec's contact and hit dial. "Alexander Lightwood. I have been trying to reach you for almost four hours. Where have you been?" Magnus seethed. It was mostly on Clary's behalf.
"Magnus, it's Jace. H-he's dead."
The phone surely would have dropped out of his hand, but he was gripping it tightly. "What do you mean?"
Alec sighed from the other side. "The jet crashed into a mountain. There was something wrong with it. When Isabelle and I woke up, we searched for Jace, but we couldn't find him. All we found was enough blood covering the walls to give us proof that he died."
"If there was no body, there's a chance that he could still be alive."
"Yes, but where could he have gone? Obviously he is severely injured."
Magnus bit his lip. "Keep looking for him. If you give up, you're accepting that he's dead. Don't do that." They were interrupted by Clary's loud scream.
Alec became frantic. "What's happening? Is Clary okay? Why is she screaming?"
Pinching the bridge of his nose, Magnus replied, "Clary has gone into a premature labor."
His boyfriend sucked in a sharp breath. "B-but, Magnus. What about Jace?"
Clary screamed again. "Look, I have to go help Clary. She may be dilated enough to push. When you find Jace tell him that their names are Livia Cecily and Julian Skylar." With that, Magnus hung up and ran back to Clary's room.
Jocelyn was pacing on one side of the room by the two incubators that had arrived only an hour ago, while Luke sat with his head in his hands on a chair adjacent from her. Simon was letting Clary squeeze his hand, and by the looks of it, it hurt a lot. Tessa was on the other side of Clary with a wet towel to press on Clary's forehead. When Magnus walked in, Jonathan stood up from his seat and made his way over to him.
"She's in so much pain. Isn't there anything you can do?"
"I need all of you to get out," Magnus stated. "Well all of you except Tessa and Simon. Simon is here for Jace, to record the birth of his children, and Tessa will help me deliver the twins." The other three sulked out of the room. Magnus locked it and went over to Clary to check her dilation. This was it. Clary was ready to push. "All right, Baby Doll. I'm going to need you to give me a big push on three. Ready? One. Two. Three!"
Alec stared at his phone after Magnus hung up on him. The twins were going to be born and Jace wasn't anywhere to be found. Because he didn't want to break his phone, Alec picked up and rock and threw it at a piece of the jet with much force. The piece tilted and creaked. Isabelle looked toward Alec with a questioning look on her face. Alec was about to respond to her look when he saw a flash of red underneath the piece of jet.
"Isabelle, help me lift this up!"
Isabelle ran over and helped her brother push the heavy piece of jet away. The flash of red so happened to be a blood soaked shirt attached to a stick. On the stick was a white paper. Isabelle ran over to the stick and picked it up. She unraveled the paper and read it aloud to her brother.
Valentine's men followed us. Be careful. -Jace
"He's alive!" Isabelle squealed. "This does mean he's alive, right?"
Alec shrugged. "It might. Magnus said to not give up the search." Alec sighed earning him a look. "The twins, Livia and Julian. . . Clary is in labor."
Isabelle gasped. "But it's too early! And Jace isn't there! This isn't good, Alec."
"I know, Iz. I know."
Hi! Did you guys think I would really kill Jace? Funny. My friend wanted to kill me when I told her what I was going to do with the story xD You guys are hostile, you know? Out of everyone to threaten, you picked Jace. The one who could have possibly been dead. Harsh guys. Still I thank you for all the reviews I received. I know there are a lot of you out there. Maybe we can try for the big 100. We're almost there :).
