Hey, I'm back. Thank you to everyone who has reviewed and sorry for the long wait.
See chapter 1 for the disclaimer.
"Of course I'm, like, more than happy to help you kids out. No one messes with the Rodgers and, like, gets away with it." Shaggy's dad muttered rummaging through files.
"Dad, like, please stop it. And everyone messes with the Rodgers, how many times have I, like, nearly been killed now?"
At that depressing sentence from Shaggy Daphne and Velma exchanged worried glances and Fred felt a pang of guilt slap him around the face. Mainly because what Shaggy was saying was true, he was frequently nearly killed, mainly because he was the fastest runner of them all.
Choosing to ignore his sons statement Shaggy's father let a triumphant cry as he pulled out two paper files out of a filing cabinet.
"I still can't believe you don't put that stuff on a computer." Velma said, bluntly.
"We, like, have them both on the computer and on the filing cabinets." Shaggy's dad explained, sitting at the table. "It's a back-up."
"Or that you have valuable files lying just lying I mean, isn't that illegal or something?" Daphne added.
"Daphne, it, like, might have escaped your notice, but this is a police station. It's, like, perfectly safe…damn!" Shaggy's dad quickly whisked the files out of the coffee he just spilled.
"Yep, perfectly safe." Velma murmured under her breath, rolling her eyes a little.
"I seriously doubt anyone's going to break into a police station armed with coffee."
"Like, except maybe a has-been." Shaggy said smiling a bit.
Everyone burst out laughing at the terrible joke mainly due to the fact that Shaggy was joking again, it was a relief. He hadn't told one joke since he'd been attacked.
"Okay, like, first things: these two look familiar?" Shaggy's dad held up two mugshots of two guys. One had black stubble and a rough-looking face. He was glaring straight at the camera. The other had black hair and a full beard. His eyes were almost hid by bushy-eyebrows.
Shaggy took one look at them, gulped and nodded. To double-check Shaggy's dad showed the rest of Mystery Inc who agreed. They did look familiar.
"These two are, like, Joey and Roy Littlewood. Stubbles Joey and bushy-eyebrows is Roy. Two years ago you lot, like, arrested them, you remember?"
"No." Velma said immediately.
"But then again we have arrested a lot of criminals, so, remind us?" Fred said while Daphne began massaging her fore-head. All this stress was giving her a headache.
"Let's see…" The gang waited while Shaggy's dad flicked through the folder, just at the point Fred was going to snatch the files and do it himself Shaggy's dad let out another triumphant cry.
"You got it!?" Daphne said, excitedly.
"Yep! Looks like, these two were terrified the town of Mattlebourugh by dressing up as two of the ex-citizens, Mr George Hayfield and Mr Sam Darwkins."
Shaggy was the only member of the gang not looking totally confused. As Fred was flicking through the book he carried round with him of all the criminals he ever arrested, the hippy said.
"Like, I remember those two!"
"You do?" Fred, Daphne and Velma said together, looking at him.
"Like, yeah! That was one of the mystery's me and Scooby solved! Like do you remember scoob?"
"Reah, reah!"
"Yeah, we, like, solved it within two clues, me and Scoob, like, saw the wire they used to fly and then we detected a bit of oil on one of their clothes…"
Velma burst out laughing at that. "I remember! God, those two were pathetic!"
"They were really bad." Daphne agreed, smiling a bit as Fred started chuckling next to her. Suddenly the whole room was filled with laughter apart from Shaggy's dad, who waited for it to die down before saying.
"Like, I get what you kids are saying, but, like, at the same time there obviously quite dangerous, I mean, they, like, attacked Shaggy. So, like, don't underestimate them to much…"
Pulling himself together Fred went back to his usual serious persona saying. "Right, so what are we going to do?"
"I have some contacts. I could, like, try to get a handle on their wear-about and we'll go from there, that sound good?" Shaggy's dad said, straitening up.
"That sounds great, Mr R. Aright guys, looks like we have a sort-of plan."
