Sarah slowing grew awake frowning as she looked at the room around her, she fluttered her eyes constantly trying to get use to the bright sunlight shining through the window. She could have sworn she was on the couch last night, she thought to herself confused. She pulled the duvet off her body and got to her feet slowly, she was glad she could finally go home and get out of her clothes. She scrunched her nose in confusion hearing a weird buzzing sound somewhere close. She looked around trying to figure out where it was coming from and began to push aside the duvet and pillows to find her phone buzzing frantically. She rolled her eyes at herself grabbing it and picked up quickly seeing Emma's name flashing on the calling screen.
"Did you miss me?" Emma said over the receiver as Sarah sat down on the bed smiling oblivious to Damon walking into the room distracted with a scowl on his face.
"Of course I miss you, Em." Sarah said happily while Damon froze and stood still near the door hearing her light up for the first time.
"Well I'm glad I wanted to catch up since your too busy with your new life to call me, I guess I'm easily replacable." Emma said sighing dramatically while Damon frowned wondering who she was speaking to.
"Em, noone can come close to replacing you. So what have you been upto?" Sarah asked genuinely interested while facing the window, her back was towards Damon.
"Well the reason I'm calling is because my preview went pretty awesome yesterday and I officially got booked a spot at the gallery in the summer." Emma said nonchalantly while she was eagerly waiting to hear Sarah's reaction.
"What! I always knew you'd become a famous artist. I'm so happy for you, Em." Sarah said excited for her. Damon frowned seeing her happy and carefree, she'd never been that open with him since she's arrived here, he thought to himself.
"It's just my first showing, Sarah. We knew I'd get it and now that it's official I still have a long way to reach Picasso standards. Anyway my real reason for calling is to make sure your going to be there, you are right?" Emma smiled and asked her hopefully.
"Of course, I promised I wouldn't miss it. When is it?" Sarah said smiling.
"It'll be over summer break at the Hueton Gallery. I'll text you the date and time soon." Emma said excited to see her again.
"This is so amazing, Em." Sarah said genuinely happy for her.
"I know, I know but I'm really nervous. I need you by my side, Sarah." Emma said worriedly.
"Of course. I can't believe I know a famous artist." Sarah said jokingly.
"Sarah, Lets not get ahead of ourselves." Emma said sobering filled with nerves.
"Shut up, Em. Your amazing." Sarah reassured her with a smile on her face.
"Okay, Okay. So what have you been upto? How are you coping now?" Emma asked genuinely concerned for her.
"Um, I'm fine." Sarah said feeling the pit of her stomach fill with guilt for not thinking of Zach that often.
"Sarah, what's wrong? I know you too well so be honest." Emma asked confused.
"I'm fine really. I haven't been thinking about him. I think that why I feel so guilty." Sarah said softly while she began to fidget with the ends of her shorts that she was wearing. Damon stood curiously wondering who they were talking about.
"Sarah, Zach would have wanted you to move on. I'm a hundred percent sure he's really proud of you right now especially with how you've handle this stuff in the past. You don't have to feel guilty to be a little happy." Emma said genuinely while Damon frowned wondering how close she was with Zach.
"Yeah, I know I don't handle this stuff well. I'm just suprised that's all." Sarah muttered scratching her arm nervously thinking of all the heartbreak she had gone through.
"Sarah, do you want me to come over for a while? You know I don't like you being all alone over there. Don't you think you should move back here, now that Zach isn't around anymore." Emma asked concerned while Damon suddenly felt guilty for callously killing Zach.
"No, I'm okay. I've made my peace with it and this place has begun to grow on me. I like it here really so stop worrying yourself to death." Sarah said reassuringly, smiling at her concern.
"Okay, well has any hot guys hit on you yet?" Emma asked changing the atmosphere to a lighter topic.
"Em, you will never let it go will you?" Sarah said groaning softly.
"No, It's not my fault your too dense to notice how guys constantly seem to check you out. I bet atleast one guy would have hit on you by now, am I right?" Emma asked enthusiastically while Damon smiled amused seeing Sarah rolling her eyes.
"Em..." Sarah said wanting to avoid the question.
"I'm right, aren't I? " Emma asked continuously annoying her.
"Okay, Yes. Your right but it was just a coincidence." Sarah defended irritated thinking of Tyler.
"Yes! I knew it. Am I psychic or what?" Emma said victoriously while Sarah stood up smiling at her quirkiness.
"Em, How could you have even known that?" Sarah whined weakly turning around to leave realising that Stefan or worst Damon could overhear her but froze narrowing her eyes at the devil himself who was trying hard not to laugh.
"You know everyone has always noticed you. It's like they want to eat you or something." Emma said laughing unaware that Damon could still hear her.
"She's right you know. Your too dense to realise how delicious you look or taste." Damon said smiling wagging his eyebrows walking towards her, staring at her exposed legs.
"Whose was that? Are you dating someone? Why didn't you tell me before?" Emma asked quickly curious.
"I'm not dating anybody, Em. But I have to go, I'll call you later." Sarah said hanging quickly before Emma said something to embarass her even more.
"That was a nice chat." Damon said standing right in front of her playing with the zip of her jacket pulling it downwards.
"You know it's rude to eavesdrop." Sarah said scowling at him while pushing his hand away and crossed her arms as he leaned closer to her.
"Well you can't expect to have any privacy in my room, can you?" Damon said staring at her lips.
"Well I wasn't in your room last night. I was sleeping on the couch downstairs." Sarah said frowning at his closeness and walked past him but he grabbed her arm and pinned her body to the wall besides the bed startling her.
"I know... I bought you up here since it was your room too and that technically means it's our room now." Damon whispered in her ear his breath fanning over her neck.
"Well I'm leaving now, so will you move?" Sarah said irritatedly wondering what was wrong with him as she began struggling to break free.
"I'm sorry about Zach." Damon said out of the blue catching her by suprise as she stared into his icy blue eyes freezing up.
"It's fine, can I go now?" Sarah said avoiding the topic feeling suffocated while staring at him.
"I'm not the same person anymore. If I'd known he mean't that much to you, I wouldn't have..." Damon said genuinely but trailed off not knowing what more to say.
"I know, now please I want to leave." Sarah said adamantly pushing him away and he sighed stepping back letting her leave. She walked passed him but stop sighing feeling his guilt overwhelming her forcing her to turn back and look at him.
"I really do forgive you. I know your really sorry for killing him so don't beat yourself up about it." Sarah said smiling weakly and turned once again to leave.
"Do you want to go to a Barbecue today?" Damon asked suddenly not wanting her to leave yet.
"What?" Sarah said stopping turning to face him again confused by his erratic mood swings.
"I'm going to a Barbecue at five and I want you to be my date." Damon said smirking hopefully.
"And your seriously not upto anything?!" Sarah asked doubtfully but unwillingly letting out a smile.
"You know me I love making new friends and you said you wanted to make friends too. So this barbecue is the perfect opportunity." Damon said sarcastically smiling at her doubtful face while lightly mocking her.
"Yeah, I'm definitely going pass." Sarah said before finally turning to leave but Damon suddenly popped in front of her.
"It'll be fun please..." Damon begged weakly pouting.
"Is it really going to be fun or is this one of your badly planned little schemes." Sarah asked smirking at his sudden scowl.
"My plans are awesome, now I'll see you at five." Damon said turning away from her walking towards the door.
"Hey I never said I'd go." Sarah said walking after him but he suddenly turned around, his face was now an inch away from hers.
"I could always convince you." Damon whispered leaning closer to her lips and she began leaning closer as well but soon reminded herself of how he felt for Elena and cleared her throat stepping back awkwardly stumbling but he grabbed her arm to steady her staring at her confused with a frown.
"Would you like something to eat for breakfast?" Damon said sighing knowing that she had her walls up again.
"No thanks, I'm just going to head home anyways. I'll see you at five but only because I want to see you make a fool of yourself." Sarah said walking out smiling at him trying to ease the tension while he sighed watching her go.
Sarah had quickly made her way home to shower and changed into light pearl summer dress and slipped on some black flats, she reminded herself to return Tyler's jacket and Caroline's clothes as she walked back to the boarding house knowing it would be quicker. She wondered why she wanted to kiss Damon earlier but she pushed the thought out of her head as she approached the boarding house. She knocked on the door and frowned when there wasn't any response, she was about to open the door when her phone began ringing loudly cutting through the quiet atmosphere. She flicked it open seeing Damon's name and picked it up.
"Damon, I'm at the Boarding House. Where are you?" Sarah asked standing in front of the door.
"Uh. Right, I forgot to mention where we were going to meet. Anyways could you swing by the grill and pick up a package for me." Damon whispered over the phone but she could hear people chatting in the background.
"Why are you whispering? And I thought we were going to a Barbecue." Sarah asked confused turning around.
"We are, but are you really going to show up empty handed? That's not very nice of you." Damon said mockingly.
"Fine but I'll have to go back and get my car first. Why didn't you pick it up yourself?" Sarah asked walking towards the woods.
"I actually did but Elena was there and I got a little sidetracked." Damon said irritated.
"Great. I'll be a little late since I have to walk all the way back to get my car." Sarah said sarcastically but felt a pang go through her when he mentioned Elena.
"You dont have to go back just take my car and I'll drive you back later. My keys are in 'our' room besides 'our' bed." Damon said smirking while she groaned irritated.
"Uh, Damon it's not 'our' room and whose throwing this barbecue anyway." Sarah said turning and walked back to the Boarding house.
"Guess." Damon said while she entered the house and made her way upstairs.
"Damon. I don't even know half the people in this town let alone their names." Sarah said grabbing the keys off the side-table. She suddenly felt a breeze behind her making her turn around and frown confused.
"Okay. Your right. It's at Jenna's, you probably haven't met her yet but she's fun. You'll like her." Damon said distractedly wondering why she went quiet.
"Oh. Okay." Sarah said frowning looking around while walking out of the room and going back downstairs. Damon frown hearing her distracted.
"Hey, You okay over there?" Damon asked concerned just as she felt something touch her hair. She quickly spinned around startled and frowned shaking her head seeing nobody around.
"Yeah everything is fine. Anyways where is Stefan?" Sarah asked curiously walking out of the front door towards the car.
"Sleeping in last I checked maybe he went out to kill a cute bunny. I don't know. Why?" Damon said not really bothered.
"No reason. Probably my imagination. Nice car." Sarah said getting into the driver seat.
"It's a classic and don't you dare scratch it now get your hot little butt over here. I gotta go, I'll text you the address." Damon said quickly.
"Ok, I'll see you soon then." Sarah said hanging up and pulled out of the driveway.
Sarah was getting out of the car with a white box in her hand. She was standing outside a nice white house with dark wooden highlights contrasting the windows. She smiled reminding herself of the times her mom cuddled with her on the porch swing as they listened to her dad reading amazing old stories to them. She shook her head sighing missing them and made her way up onto the porch knocking on the door. The door soon opened and she frowned seeing Elena in front of her.
"Sarah? What are you doing here?" Elena asked frowning staring at her confused.
"I'm sorry, I must be at the wrong house. Damon said I was suppose to meet him at his friend Jenna's house." Sarah said frowning looking at the house number to recheck but before Elena could respond Damon interrupted her.
"No, your at the right place. Jenna is Elena's aunt, did I forget to mention that, my mistake. Come in and look how awesome she is, she even bought the pie I ordered." Damon said grabbing Sarah's elbow leading her into the house, while Elena glared at him.
"I didn't mean to intrude." Sarah muttered seeing Elena's angry face.
"She's not intruding is she, Elena?" Damon said raising his eyebrows to her while smirking.
"No. Of course not." Elena muttered still glaring at him.
"See we're welcome. Now lets go meet the rest of the gang." Damon said dragging her by the elbow slowly to the kitchen.
"Damon. I thought we were invited." Sarah hissed at him but he just ignored her and dragged her along.
"Hi, You look super cute." Caroline said passing her eating from a huge bowl of chips. Sarah smiled at her but then frowned feeling her emotions she wondered why she was feeling so terrified but she ignored it as she came in front of the kitchen counter which was surrounded by people.
"Hey" Damon said enthusiastically.
"Damon" Jenna said glaring at him but stop noticing someone behind him.
"I hope you don't mind that I invited Sarah here and look we bought pie." Damon said smiling ignoring Sarah's subtle glare.
"Sorry for intruding." Sarah said apologetically to them as she put the pie down on the counter internally wondering why she went along with Damon's idiotic ideas.
"It's no problem. Your always welcome, Sarah." Alaric said reassuringly.
"Thanks it smells delicious, we'll have it later. So where do you live, Sarah?" Jenna asked smiling although she could feel her animosity towards Damon.
"Uh. I live at the Boarding House with Damon and Stefan." Sarah lied glancing at Damon hoping he wouldn't blow her cover.
"Really? Don't you want to live with your parents than with this lune here, I would." Jenna asked then glared at Damon.
"Oh.. Well.." Sarah said not really wanting to explain to a bunch of strangers why she's basically an orphan but Damon soon cut in after noticing Sarah's discomfort while Mason was also looking at her intently.
"Sarah unfortunately lost her parents to an animal attack when they were on vacation here at their cabin. Zach is her guardian that's why she's been staying with us." Damon said putting his hand on her shoulder while she frowned wondering how he knew that her parents had died here.
"Oh I'm really sorry. If you need anything don't hesitate to ask. I know what it's like to lose someone close." Jenna said sympathetically to Sarah patting her hand.
"It's fine really. It happened a long time ago." Sarah said reassuringly.
"So what are we doing?" Damon asked looking at the shot glasses.
"We're just doing some shots. Here let me get you a shot glass buddy." Alaric said pulling out a glass but Jenna interrupted him.
"No here. Let him use mine." Jenna said shoving her glass towards him glaringly and walked away. Alaric quickly followed her too as Sarah frowned looking at them.
"She doesn't like me very much." Damon explained looking at Sarah then Mason.
"We haven't met. Mason Lockwood." Mason said raising his hand towards them.
"Oh sure. Damon Salvatore" Damon said raising his hand but Mason stopped him by raising his palm.
"I know. I heard some great things about you but I meant it for her." Mason said looking at Sarah.
"Oh um... Well it's nice to meet you too, Mason." Sarah said reluctantly shaking his hand lightly but he held on and didn't let go making her frown. Damon stiffened as soon as he noticed her trying to break free.
"Must be really hard being on your own like that." Mason said staring at her as she suddenly frowned feeling his hunger, he's a Lockwood... Why didn't I think of this before?
"Who said she was on her own, she always has me we're practically family, right?" Damon said staring at Mason threateningly who was still looking only at Sarah.
"Yeah. Sure. Now can I have my hand back." Sarah said glaring at Mason and he reluctantly let go.
"So enough chit chat. How about we join the others, Sarah?" Damon said catching her hand and dragged her away from him.
"Seriously. A werewolf, you couldn't have given me a heads up." Sarah hissed at him softly.
"Why did you shake his hand?" Damon muttered frustrated standing in the hallway stopping her with him as well.
"What was I suppose to do give him a peace sign? And why didn't you tell me I wasn't really invited. You know I hate being the third wheel." Sarah said glaring.
"This isn't some double date, this is a social gathering and Ric did invite us." Damon whispered looking out of the hallway.
"But this isn't Ric's house. It's Elena's and Jenna's house." Sarah retorted back irritated.
"And Ric is Jenna's boyfriend so he gets to invite whoever he wants too." Damon hissed back making her roll her eyes.
"Really?" Sarah said raising an eyebrow at his excuse.
"Yes, now smile." Damon said turning her to face Jenna who came towards them.
"What are you two doing here? Ric said you guys wanted to play some games." Jenna asked looking at them confused.
"Yes. Lets play." Damon said cheerfully walking past Jenna dragging her with him.
The game they ended up playing was pictionary, it went on for a while. Damon had kept coming up with clever trivia related to wolves. Now she finally understood what his little scheme was. Elena had gotten up grabbing the empty dishes and headed for the kitchen as Damon followed her too while Caroline stepped outside on the porch. Sarah was now sitting with Alaric and Mason in the living room as Jenna stumbled back to the kitchen for another drink enthusiastically provided by Damon.
"So Sarah, do you know my nephew Tyler?" Mason asked smiling which didn't seem genuine on him.
"Yeah, I met him a couple of days ago at the carnival." Sarah responded uninterested looking away waiting for Damon to return.
"He's a good kid. Are you dating him or anyone?" Mason asked curiously.
"No. We just hung out for a bit." Sarah defended frowning while Alaric frowned as well wondering why he was suddenly interested.
"Hey don't worry about it. I was just curious." Mason retorted casually still staring at her just as Jenna walked out asking enthusiastically.
"Who wants desert?"
"So Mason why don't you start us off?" Jenna said standing besides him as Ric put a knife next to the pie while Sarah sat on one of the stools. Damon stood besides her pulling the stool which she was seated on closer to him and away from Mason.
"You look great in that dress. Did you want me to kiss you this morning?" Damon whispered softly in her ear and put his hand on her knee sitting besides her while watching Mason contemplate what to do. Sarah pushed his hand quickly away and about to retorted back but Mason interrupted them.
"Sure." He said suddenly taking the pie with his bare hands, causing her to raise her eyebrow. "I apologise, I'm an animal." Mason said looking at a disappointed Damon who was smiling at him unaffected.
"So Mason, you and Jenna never dated?" Alaric said cutting into their stare off. Mason looked at him then Jenna who looked amused.
"No, She was always way too lost in Logan
Fell land" He responded smiling.
"My first mistake. Mason was a catch, he had girls lining up the block for him." Jenna complimented agreeing.
"Really? I always pegged you for a lone wolf." Damon said smirking as Sarah snorted at his choice of words.
"I'm sure I wasn't half the lady killer you were. How about a toast? To new friends." Mason said smiling at her ignoring Damon's smirk.
"Lets move this back to the living room then." Jenna said slightly tipsy smiling at them as everyone except Damon and Sarah followed her.
"What are you doing?" Sarah asked Damon after everyone had left.
"Trying to get the dog to bite." Damon said looking very amused with his comment.
"Very clever. Why would you want to do that since that Jenna girl is here, she doesn't seem to be aware that she's hosting a barbecue for a circus full of supernatural freaks." Sarah said looking exasperated at him but he just leaned close staring intently at her.
"First off, Alaric happens to be human, number two who really cares and third I'm more interested to hear what your answer was to my question." Damon whispered closely.
"Are you sure you don't want to ask Elena that question? Aren't you worried she suddenly snuck off with Caroline. No doubt to meet Stefan." Sarah mocked jokingly unaware she had unintentionally angered him. He remained silent making her frown but she soon realised his feelings were hurt. "I didn't mean it like that, I was only joking..." She defended confused by his behaviour but was interrupt by Jenna.
"Sarah, would like some more pie?" She said standing in between them.
"No, I'm stuffed. Thanks for having me over but I better get home. It's getting late." Sarah said smiling getting up and she nodded.
"Don't worry, I'll drop you off." Damon stated still looking at her.
"That's okay." Sarah said turning away but Damon put his arm over shoulders pulling her close to him while they walked uncomfortably to the front door as Alaric and Mason walked into the hallway talking.
"What no more takers for drinks at the grill. It's like I'm with a bunch of adults." Mason said to them as he walked in front of them to the door.
"I prefer the term role model." Jenna said laughing.
"Okay. Well, thanks for having me I had an awesome time. Alaric, catch that game next week?" Mason said opening the front door to leave.
"Looking forward to it." Alaric said politely and he nods quickly leaving.
"You know, We should probably head out too. Need to get this one in bed." Damon said wagging his eyebrows smirking putting his hand on her waist causing Jenna to frown and Alaric to roll his eyes.
"He's um kidding. Thanks again for letting me crash your barbecue." Sarah defended quickly.
"No problem. Your always welcome here. Thanks for coming." Jenna said smiling besides Alaric. Sarah smiles and walks towards the car leaving Damon to still talk to them, he soon enters the car putting it quickly to drive.
"We're just going to make a little pitstop at the grill." Damon said smirking enthusiastically.
"No, were not, take me home now. I'm not getting dragged into one of your crazy schemes to get embarassed again." Sarah said adamantly while Damon rolled his eyes.
"Your not getting embarassed. Your just gonna sit here and wait while I take care of something." Damon said quickly and got out of the car before she could respond. She noticed they were nowhere near the grill.
"Uh. He even took the bloody keys." Sarah muttered frustrated getting out of the car. She was in the middle of nowhere looking around for something she could recognise. She stood there for fifteen minutes frowning wondering why he hadn't returned yet, she pulled out her phone from her pocket dialing his number listening to it ring. She turned around hearing a twig snap deep in the forest a few miles away, she frowned wondering if it was Damon and stepped forward keeping the phone in her ear.
"Yeah, I'm on my way." Damon said frustrated on the phone.
"Are you by any chance in the woods?" Sarah asked walking backwards and then leaning on the car waiting.
"No. Why?" Damon asked confused.
"I thought I heard something, but it's probably nothing. Anyways you better get back here soon before I hotwire your car." Sarah said smiling knowing exactly how he'd react.
"You wouldn't."
"I wonder what this wire does? Better hurry." Sarah said joking and hung up quickly. She stood there staring at the woods feeling eyes on her, she frowned trying to listen to anything in the distance and jumped when Damon appeared in front of her.
"Damon, What is wrong with you? Don't scare me like that." Sarah said startled and punched him in the chest.
"Why aren't you sitting safely in the car?" Damon groaned leading her back into the passenger seat while she frowned still looking towards the woods confused. They were soon driving back to the boarding house when Sarah finally spoke breaking the silence.
"How did you know my parents died here?" Sarah said looking at the scenery of the dark woods outside the window.
"How do you think I got your number? The school." Damon said glancing at her.
"I didn't think you'd lie to me, Damon. Not about this. My uncle made sure nobody would find out what happened to my parents. He paid a lot of money to make sure it stayed out of my school file." Sarah said finally looking at him frowning but turned away when he kept ignoring her. "Guess. I made a mistake trusting you." She muttered softly but he glanced at her feeling sorry.
"Look, I didn't mean to upset you. Your right, your school file had nothing on you just that you were orphaned at a young age with no knowledge of your parents whereabouts." Damon defended looking at her frown.
"Then how did you find out? And please try not to lie to me this time." Sarah said looking into his eyes as they sat in the car which was now parked in front of the boarding house.
"Lets just say Stefan isn't the only writer in my family." Damon said vaguely.
"Zach? You have his journal? Can I have it?" Sarah said quickly suprised.
"Yes, I have it. Found it last night after putting you in bed. I've only read the first page." Damon said looking at her.
"I was on the first page?" Sarah asked frowning.
"Yeah basically the entire book is about you as far as I can tell. I'm sorry about what happened with your parents that was just brutal. You didn't deserve to go through it." Damon said concerned but Sarah turned away not wanting to hear him say anything more and blinked away her tears.
"Sarah talk to me, it's not really good bottling things in. Believe me I know. I do it all the time." Damon said regretting bringing her parents up while she kept blocking him out blinking away her tears. "Look, I care about you, Sarah. Hell I was even going to marry you once. You were perfect before and your even more perfect now. I've always loved you and I'll never stop. So now will you trust me and tell me how you feel about it." Damon said looking straight at her not avoiding her gaze, she was too shocked to say anything at his outburst. "Forget it. I was only trying to distract you from your thoughts." He added disappointed with her.
"Damon, I know you loved me before.." Sarah began to say but got cut off.
"Don't take things so literally, Sarah." Damon said defensively getting out of the car not wanting to face another rejection.
"Why do you do that?" Sarah said getting out of the car after him as well. "Are you that afraid to hear what I have to say? I remember how you use to be before but maybe your right I'm just taking things too literally. Good Night." Sarah said angrily turning away from him. Damon frowned watching her walk away. He sighed turning away from her disappearing figure rubbing his face with his hands frustrated and huffed out a deep breath before appearing in front of her grabbing her face and kissed her passionately on her soft lips. Sarah was startled at first but soon responded pressing herself towards him. He encircled her waist with his hands pulling her closer while grabbing at her dress, her hands entangled his hair running through it bringing him closer. He pulled away allowing her to catch her breath and kissed her lower lip then her jaw trailing towards her neck. He quickly brought them both to the front door of the boarding house using his speed making her dizzy and lightheaded.
"You okay?" Damon asked smiling at her dazed look and she nodded.
"Yeah just didn't expect that though." She said smiling softly back at him as he opened the door pushing her in closing it and turned to pin her to it. He began to kiss her slowly and pulled her to him away from the front door walking slowly backward towards the parlour not wanting her dizzy again by using his speed but froze hearing a voice.
"Aw isn't that sweet. I hope I'm not interrupting your little reunion." She said sarcastically making Sarah step away from Damon as he turned to face her.
"Elena?" Sarah asked frowning stepping forward but Damon stood slightly in front of her, pinning her to his side away from Elena.
"Katherine." Damon spat glaring at her threateningly but she just ignored him looking toward Sarah.
"I don't think we've officially met. I'm Katherine." Katherine said walking forward but Damon stepped completely in front of Sarah glaring at her.
"Oh Damon, I don't bite...yet." Katherine said smirking as Sarah stepped besides Damon.
"You attacked me on the road." Sarah said contemplating why she was here.
"Don't get your panties in a bunch now, atleast not before Damon gets into them." Katherine said amused with herself making Sarah glare at her, "Besides you should be more upset that I've had you killed successfully twice now." She continued unaffected.
"Twice?" Sarah asked skeptically looking at Damon to see if he knew anything but he was busy glaring at Katherine.
"Yes. We met once before when I had someone help me kill you and then I was really suprise when I met you again without any memory of what I did and as Damon's fiancé no less so once again I got rid of you. Your abilities hadn't progress either those times like it has now but it was always easy to get rid of you." Katherine said callously walking towards them making Damon stiffen besides her.
"Why? Why would you bother going through so much trouble to have me killed?" Sarah questioned slowly walking towards her as well making Damon frown and grabbed the back of her dress pulling her back to him.
"You'll find out soon enough. So tell me, Sarah. How does it feel to always come in last after Elena?" Katherine said standing right in front of them as Damon watched her unblinking.
"What are you taking about?" Sarah said staring at her confused.
"Well a week ago, Damon and I pretty much did what you two did a minute ago but it way hotter and there was much less clothes, Isn't that right Damon? But that was obviously before I chose Stefan... Then he went running off to Elena who rejected him too, he never could win against sweet Stefan. The only option he had left was you, guess he doesn't really value you too much since you always come in last place." Katherine said smirking in front of her while Damon glared at her. Sarah stood staring angrily at Katherine swallowing a small bout of hurt hearing her words.
"Shut up, you little manipulative bitch." Damon growled furious.
"Oh, Damon haven't you been telling her the truth. It's not like this would be the first time you screwed me behind her back. You never could keep your hands off me." Katherine said circling around them smirking as Damon lowered his gaze to Sarah who was looking at him disappointed with a frown. "What nothing to say, Damon? You might want to let her go, you'll only end up losing her again." Katherine said walking behind them then came to stand besides him leaning into his ear. "She's too good for you, you'll never have her." She whispered looking seductively at him ignoring Sarah.
"I won't let you touch her not this time." Damon hissed at her stepping back pulling Sarah behind him.
"Oh, I won't be doing anything to her this time. There are a lot of people out for her blood. Isn't that right, Sarah?" Katherine said tauntingly at her as Sarah glared angrily and pinned her very roughly to the wall with her mind. Damon stood dumbfounded watching Katherine struggle.
"I want the truth, who are you talking about?" Sarah asked harshly her eyes turning pale green as she grabbed Katherine's chin watching her continue to struggle.
"The only thing I can tell you is that they've missed you." Katherine said monotonously. Sarah sighed frustrated thinking of how she behaved just like Isobel did when she compelled her.
"What's going on, Sarah? What's she talking about?" Damon asked confused standing besides her as she let Katherine go.
"Do that again and I won't hesitate to end you." Katherine snarled at her before advancing at an inhuman speed towards her. Sarah quickly shoved her away forcefully with her mind making her slam roughly above the fireplace and falling gracelessly to the floor with a loud thud.
"Never underestimate what I can do, it would be in your best interest not to piss me off." Sarah spat angrily at her after which she growled and quickly disappeared out of the front door.
"What was that about?" Damon asked concerned by what happened.
"Nothing. I should get going." Sarah muttered avoiding him.
"Hey don't let her get to you." Damon said embracing her and lightly kissed her neck but she pulled away frowning.
"I'm really tired. I'm going to leave." Sarah said walking towards the front door but he grabbed her wrist and pulled her close to his chest.
"Stay?" Damon murmured over her lips but she just pushed him away frustrated.
"What?" He asked with a frown.
"Was she telling the truth? Did you only like me because they said no to you." Sarah asked hopefully waiting for him to deny it but she could feel the hurt and guilt making her realise that Katherine was telling the truth.
"I think it's better off if we just stay friends, Damon." She concluded walking out of the door and this time he didn't try to stop her.
Sarah walked tiredly up the stairs to her room. She realised someone was really still after her which made her worry even more so now. "This day just keeps getting worst." She muttered slipping off her flats and laid exhausted on her bed watching the ceiling, slowing giving into the numbing darkness that welcomed her.
"Try and catch me." She screamed running away from the old exquisite mansion she was currently staying at and towards a maze outlined garden. He ran after her at a slow pace amused, unable to shake the smile off his face. He suddenly appeared behind when she turned away and grabbed her waist halting her pace before she made it to the garden. "How do you always seem to catch me so quick? I never seem to get away fast enough." She said laughing when he dragged her down to the grassy floor.
"Why would you want to get away from me?" He said smiling his chocolate brown eyes boring into her watery blue ones as his fingers grazed her beautiful blonde hair.
"I would never want to be away from you." She said lightly kissing his lips but he pulled her close deepening it pinning her down to the ground, she giggled when he began to kiss her neck softly but pushed him away quickly hearing someone approach them.
"Am I interrupting?" Niklaus said narrowing his eyes at his brother but turned to smile at her.
"Of course not, Niklaus." Sarah said smiling as Elijah helped get back on her feet.
"Brother, I need you to give me a moment of your time." Niklaus said giving a meaningful look to his brother.
"Of course. Sarah, why don't you get ready for dinner it is getting quite late." Elijah said encouraging her to leave.
"Yes it is, I will see you both later tonight." Sarah said glancing at Niklaus then smiling meaningfully at Elijah which he responded back with a smile.
"She seems to adore you, brother. How long do you think it will last after the ritual tonight?" Niklaus said frustrated at their growing affection.
"You don't have to do this, Niklaus. She would come to find out what we are and that we lied to her. Do you really think you can win her heart after you've used her blood in the sacrifice? After you've killed Katerina and the others in front of her? She will only see you as a monster." Elijah said looking furiously at him.
"Tell me brother, are you fighting for me to stop the sacrifice because of Sarah or Katerina? I know you've been talking to the witches for her" Niklaus said angrily ignoring his words looking furiously at him.
"Katerina's life need not go in waste for our petty problems. Sarah will be safe, I know you would never harm her." Elijah said looking at the mansion where Sarah had entered.
"Does Sarah know of your new found loyalty to Miss Petrova?" Niklaus mocked raising his eyebrow but he found his answer in his brother's silence. "Do not interfere with my plans, brother. For you'll surely repent it for if you do, you won't ever lay eyes on Sarah again as long as I live. I won't warn you twice." He snarled threateningly watching his brother's eyes blaze with fury.
"You should do well to remember the only reason I am by your side is because of Sarah. I will protect her with my life even if it means obeying you for now." Elijah spat angrily before walking away into the garden as Niklaus stood watching him.
Sarah walked back to the mansion and went upstairs to her room to get ready for dinner. Niklaus said it would be a special tonight, she smiled remembering how excited he'd been lately. She pulled out a light pearl gown and placed it on the bed remembering when Elijah chose it as his favorite. She put on the dress stepping in front of the mirror seeing how exquiste it looked on her. She sat on her dresser and began brushing her hair. She was humming distractedly not paying attention to her surroundings and jumped startled noticing Katerina standing behind her.
"Katerina? You've startled me. What's the matter?" Sarah asked concerned standing up after fixing up her hair.
"I need a moment of your time." Katerina said hiding her panicing state.
"Of course, come here and tell me what is the matter. I'm sure I can try to help." Sarah said sitting on the bed but froze seeing a man with short brown hair standing in the shadows near the door. "What is he doing here? He must leave, Elijah would have him killed for entering this room." Sarah said standing up concerned while watching him bow his head.
"I need him to escort me downstairs it's only for a moment." Katerina convinced her. She was hesitant but soon relented.
"Alright. What was the matter?" Sarah asked her sighing as she sat besides her.
"You have a lovely necklace, where did you get it." Katerina said looking at her neck which adored a beautiful blue gem decorated with silver filigree as she avoided her question.
"Elijah presented it to me when we began courting. It's beautiful, isn't it?" Sarah said smiling while Katerina glanced at the man by the doorway who nodded at her.
"May I see it?" Katerina asked nervously.
"No, I apologise but I promised him I would never take it off." Sarah said apologetically but Katerina seemed to panic even more and pulled it off her neck.
"I apologise too." Katerina said standing nervously holding it in her hands. Sarah stood up and was about to yell at her but a hand cover her mouth preventing her to follow through. She began to panic and struggled to get free but the man quickly turned her around and before she could yell out caught her gaze compelling her to stay quiet. "I'm truly sorry, Sarah. But with your death perhaps they'd leave me be." Katerina said looking away just as the man grabbed Sarah's hand bringing her attention back to him as he placed a knife on her palm.
"You will not scream, you will just lie on your bed and then drive this knife to your chest." The man said before letting go of her. Tears formed in Sarah eyes as her body complied with what the man said to do. She laid back on her bed and closed her eyes tears falling over praying for Elijah or Niklaus to find her but soon she began to raise the knife above her and quickly jabbed it into her chest gasping.
Sarah bolted awake covered in sweat breathing harshly and ran to the bathroom to puke. She slowly got off the floor, walked towards the sink and began washing her face wondering why that nightmare felt so vivid. She could still feel the knife entering her chest, was it really a nightmare? Or did it really happened a long time ago? She questioned frowning looking at her pale face in the mirror. She walked back to her room and noticed her phone blinking. She quickly grabbed it and saw she had twenty missed calls from Emma. She called back panicing pacing around her bedroom wondering why she would call her so late and every worst scenario began to play frantically through her mind. 'She's alright, She's alright, She's alright.' She kept repeating it like a mantra to calm herself as she heard a continuous ring on the other side of the receiver but Emma didn't pick up. She kept dialing her number for the next three hours getting no answer each time. She was beyond worried and started panicing. She grabbed her bag and keys running down the stairs and out the front door getting quickly into her car and was soon speeding off towards the highway.
