Issue 10: Spidey's First Goblin

Cedric yawned as he was up late Thursday Night doing his homework.

He was almost done with the Report on the Molecular Structure and hopefully it would be enough to bring his grade up before his Dad met with Ms. Octavia.

But he was going to be dead tired after school.

"Maybe I can fall asleep at the Godzilla Marathon." Cedric mused with a chuckle before he frowned.

There was still the issue with U.N.I.O.N wanting to arrest him.

He won't be able to get away all the time because unlike the comics this is real life.

Someday he may mess up and they will know who he is.

Giving a sigh, Cedric turned to a book he had on his desk.

It was something he started to write in and it showed writings of what he remembered from the Train Incident to recent events and in some pages he had pictures, like with Electro (Real Name: Unknown).

It was a scrap book that he made to organize his thoughts and to look over just in case he overlooked something important.

Thankfully, his Dad respected his privacy, but he made sure to hide the book in his desk.

... A few years ago he made a fake bottom of a desk drawer to have a secret stash of food to eat without leaving his room but he stopped after a while.

Now he was using it again to hide his stuff as Spider-Man as well as the Journal and the flash drive he made to keep the files of Genesis on due to the original now being in Police Custody.

Taking a deep breath, Cedric placed the scrap book back in the hiding place before he continued writing more on his report.

~The Next Day~

"Hot roof, Hot roof!" Cedric muttered as he was trying to pull pants on on the school roof after arriving via web swinging.

He overslept and missed the bus, so Cedric had to improvise, but by web swinging he came across two different hit and runs that took him across the city and now he was certain that he was late.

About to run into the building, Cedric stopped as he remembered to pull off his mask and pocket it before he ran into the school.

Seeing the empty hallways, Cedric managed to run into the room right as the late bell went off, only to slip and slide into a table causing most of the class to laugh at his unique entrance.

"You were almost late, Mr. Bales." Ms. Octavia said looking down at the teen who slowly pushed himself up.

"I am so sorry, I missed the bus and had to run all the way." Cedric said before she held up a hand.

"Just sit down, so we can do class."

"Yes mam." Cedric said taking a seat as class began feeling thankful he made it before the bell rang.

But that was way too close for comfort.

... And painful.

As class went on, Cedric could still hear people behind him whispering about his 'grand entrance' and how funny it was.

He even heard some people talking about his alter-ego Spider-Man.

But he tried to ignore them and focus on the lesson.

Pretty soon the bell rang and the students were leaving as Ms. Octavia was at the door receiving the papers from the students.

Cedric smiled as he walked up and reached into his backpack only for his eyes to widen.

Reaching further, Cedric went pale as he realized he couldn't find it.

'Oh man I left it on my desk.'

"Problem, Mr. Bales?" Ms. Octavia asked seeing his panicked look as he was digging through his backpack.

"Uh well-."

"Cedric." Turning, Cedric blinked as his Dad was walking towards him. "You left this at home."

It was his report.

He was saved.

"Thank you." Cedric said gratefully as Ms. Octavia received the report.

"You're lucky I checked your room before I left." Chief Bales said to Cedric.

"Checked my room-? Why were you checking my room?" Cedric asked in confusion.

Chief Bales chuckled. "I asked you yesterday to put some of the clothes that wouldn't fit you in a pile by your door, remember?"

"... You did?" Cedric asked before remembering. "Crap, I am terrible at remembering stuff."

"So you're Cedric's father." Ms. Octavia asked not using the usual 'Mr. Bales' in order to avoid confusion.

"I am, and you are?"

"I'm Carol Octavia, his Science Teacher." Ms. Octavia answered before looking at Cedric. "You should hurry before you're late to your next class."

"Got it, thanks Dad I owe you!" Cedric called as he took off running.

Chief Bales chuckled. "Energetic as usual I see."

"So he's always like that at home?" Ms. Octavia asked curiously, as Cedric was usually quiet unless he was with Mr. Maxwell and Ms. Evans.

"He was." Chief Bales said before frowning remembering how much that Cedric changed in the last month or so. "How's he been doing in class?"

"Pretty well." Ms. Octavia said remembering how attentive Cedric has been this last week after being told how low his grade was and he actually brought it close to a B before the report so if it was a good one, he would have his A- back. "But it will be up to him if he wants to keep it that way."

"Very true." Chief Bales said before looking at the time. "Well I have to get back to the station-."

"Before you go, I want to ask a question." Ms. Octavia said causing Chief Bales to look at her curiously. "Has Cedric been acting weird this last month?"

Chief Bales looked surprised. "To be honest, yes why?"

"There was an incident where he got into a fight with Harold Evans-."

"I remember him." Chief Bales said with a nod. "He used to be a good kid that hung out with Cedric and Zack before their second year in Jr. High."

"Well while no one got into trouble, there were some witnesses that say that Cedric managed to punch him across the room after contorting his body to dodge a lot of punches." Ms. Octavia said making Mr. Bales look surprised because he knew that Cedric didn't know how to fight.

"But how would Cedric-?" Mr. Bales stopped as a sudden idea popped into his head.

Cedric has been acting extremely strange ever since he has been hospitalized.

He has had a Growth Spurt and he saw some more muscle then usual on his son.

And Spider-Man appeared at the same time.

Could Cedric and Spider-Man actually be the same.

Not wanting to voice it until he had proof, Mr. Bales looked at Octavia. "I need to go, thank you for bringing this to my attention."

Ms. Octavia gave a nod.

~Genesis Base~

The Maker smirked as a giant being in orange skin covered from head to toe in spikes roared as it's razor sharp claws were flexed and it was chained by its neck to the wall.

"I give you the Hobgoblin." The Maker said with a smirk as the leader of Genesis watched from the TV.

"Does he still have rational thought?"

"Oh he does, but there are times when animal instinct will take over, especially due to the sadistic tendencies that he had as a soldier." Maker answered with a smirk. "Now to lure Spider-Man out into the open."

"We'll need a lot of people to put in danger to draw the Spider." The leader said before he chuckled. "How about the Movies? There is a crowd there for that Monster Movie Marathon."

"Perfect." Maker said as Hobgoblin managed to snap the chain off and run at Maker who calmly pressed a button causing the collar on his neck to electrocute him until he was on his knees. "Calm yourself Hobgoblin, your time will come."

~After School~

Cedric was grinning as he ran out of the school to see Zack waiting for him. "You ready to go?" Zack asked with a grin. "I managed to buy two tickets yesterday."

"Of course, after this last week, I could use some relaxation." Cedric said with a laugh. "So how long do we have?"

"At least twenty minutes, luckily I got us a ride."

"Really?" Cedric asked as a blue Ford F-150 came up to them.

"Yo Zack!" A middle aged man with short brown hair and a scruffy looking beard said with a wave.

"Uncle Ricky." Zack greeted with a grin. "You remember Cedric right?"

"Of course I do." Ricky Maxwell said with a laugh. "Man you've gotten bigger."

"Growth Spurt, what can I say?" Cedric answered giving a wave. "Haven't seen you since you were Ghost Rider for Halloween."

"I hear that, man I'm itching to top that this year." Ricky said as both boys got into the car. "I suppose you two haven't seen that Spider guy this last month or so?"

Cedric shook his head looking a little nervous while Zack laughed.

"Uncle Ricky, you know that it's a big city so it would be a miracle to see the real-life web head." He said as Ricky gave a shrug.

"True, true." Ricky said driving through the New York traffic. "But still I figured you would've considering that fight happened outside the restaurant you worked at."

"I was too busy trying not to get killed to notice." Zack answered with a grin.

"Good." Ricky said giving a nod. "As you should, so Cedric how are you doing?"

"Pretty good." Cedric said with a forced smile. "So I heard that you're going to be teaching Zack how to do mechanics?"

Ricky gave a laugh. "Well of course, especially after what happened, plus being a Mechanic has been in our family for generations."

Cedric blinked and looked at Zack in surprise. "You never told me that."

"It never came up." Zack said with a shrug. "My families been doing this type of stuff for a long time, I was originally going to do something different, but I think this would be useful to know."

Getting to coded message, Cedric gave a nod.

"Of course it's useful to know." Ricky said with an amused smirk. "Especially if you have a car in the future, you'll need to know the basics."

"Got it, Uncle Ricky." Zack said as the theater came into sight.

~Bales Residence~

Chief Bales walked into Cedric's room, heading straight home instead of the Police Precinct.

'This is crazy.' Bales thought as he began going through the closet, praying that he wouldn't find a Spider-Man suit. 'Cedric being Spider-Man?'

But the more he tried to deny the thought, the more it actually made sense.

His behavior.

The Growth Spurt.

Spider-Man's first appearance going after the guy who hospitalized him.

How Spider-Man reacted when the car came towards him during the Electro incident.

If Cedric was Spider-Man, then all of that would make sense.

But to Bales relief he didn't find a suit before remembering how Cedric had a Spider-Man costume in the attic for Halloween.

Leaving Cedric's room after looking under his bed and between the mattress, Bales opened the attic and walked towards the locked trunk.

That set off some alarms because the trunk was never locked.

Seeing no key, Bales took something and broke the lock before opening it.

That was when he looked relieved.

Instead of a costume like he was expecting, it was some of the comics and action figures that Cedric had put up the last year.

Closing the trunk, Bales gave a low chuckle for thinking about this.

"There's no way that Cedric is Spider-Man." He finally said out loud shaking his head for having that ridiculous thought.

~At the Movies~

Cedric was a little bored as they were watching the Godzilla Marathon both having a lot of snacks and drinks.

Sure they were great movies and classics, but he was tired from staying up late the other night.

As he yawned, Cedric felt his Spider-Sense going off.

It was getting louder with each passing second.

"Zack, my sense is going off." Cedric whispered as the theater was packed.

"You're just looking for an excuse to leave." Zack said in amusement knowing that Cedric was a little bored.

Feeling it getting stronger, Cedric grabbed his head. "No I'm serious."

Zack frowned and looked over to see Cedric's pained expression and that was when he looked worried. "You think there's going to be a shooting incident like that guy at the Batman Movie?"

"I-I don't know-." Cedric stopped as the screen ripped open and a huge scaly orange creature burst through. "What. The. Hell?!"

"Godzilla became real!" Someone in the crowd shouted as screams became more frantic when the creature literally slashed someone in half with his claws.

"Oh shit." Zack said as they moved towards the exit with the people stampeding towards it. "You got your costume?!"

"I got it, get out of here!" Cedric ordered as he ran out of the theater before running down an alley pulling his jacket off to show his costume underneath. "Man what the hell is that thing?!"

It took a minute before he was swinging back to the theater and as he ran in he saw two more bodies that were sliced up.

"Oh my God." Spider-Man said feeling some bile rise up his throat before he heard a scream and ran into where the employees were as the creature killed three more in one strike.

As he came across the last employee, Spider-Man shot forward, webbing the creature in the eyes before grabbing the employee and running out of there.

"Go!" Spider-Man ordered as the employee ran off.

Feeling his Spider-Sense buzzing, Spider-Man jumped to the left as the creatures claws slammed into the ground, leaving claw marks.

"Spider-Man." The creature said in a growl.

"Alright you know me, now who are you, scaly?" Spider-Man asked getting ready.

"You can call me, the Hobgoblin." The creature laughed as Spider-Man tensed at hearing that. "Every Spider-Man needs one."

"Right like I need a bullet in the head." Spider-Man muttered as the creature came at him and Spider-Man jumped over giving him a punch to the face only to wince as his hand hurt while the Hobgoblin barely flinched.

That was when Hobgoblin grabbed Spider-Man by the leg and threw him right out the window, where he impacted into a parked car as people were running around in a panic and it increased as the Hobgoblin jumped out breathing freaking fire.

Eyes widening, Spider-Man did a back flip over the car as he landed on the wall and ran across it firing impact webbing at the Hobgoblin.

But all he was doing was annoying him.

"So scaly, why the murderous rampage?" Spider-Man asked as the Hobgoblin lunged causing Spider-Man to jump back as the claws went through the building. "I mean if you were pissed about looking like a mini Godzilla, I think there were better ways to get your point across."

Instead of answering, Hobgoblin reached up to slice into Spider-Man only for Spidey to back up further.

'If he hits me one time with those claws, I'm dead.' Spider-Man thought sweating as he tried to keep calm despite the fear he was feeling. 'I can't lose focus.'

"Hold still." Hobgoblin finally managed to snarl out.

"Right, so you can roast me like a pig?" Spider-Man asked shaking his hand. "Why don't I just put an apple in my mouth while I'm at it?"

Giving a roar, the Hobgoblin finally managed to tackle him into a building where he held Spider-Man down about to deliver the killing blow.

Struggling, Spider-Man heard a phone ring across the room so he shot a web line. "Here, it's for you!" He exclaimed as he pulled and it slammed into the back of his head causing his grip to loosen, giving Spider-Man enough time to get out of there, but the Hobgoblin managed to slice through the Kevlar a bit, making scratch marks appear on Spider-Man's chest. "Gyah."

"You are an annoying little insect." Hobgoblin said in anger as he ran at Spider-Man giving the web head a chance to slide beneath his feet, webbing them together causing him to trip through a wall.

"It's Arachnid." Spider-Man quipped seeing that they were in someone's kitchen now that he wasn't in danger of being sliced open before he saw a broken broom so he grabbed both pieces and twirled them around expertly due to his enhanced hand-eye coordination.

Hobgoblin just stared before he grabbed the fridge and chucked it at Spidey causing his eyes to widen because even though his Spider-Sense was screaming at him, he didn't have enough time to dodge as it slammed into him sending him flying out of the window with the fridge as he landed on a nearby car, causing the windshield to crack.

"I think I broke something." Spider-Man muttered feeling pain in his chest before his Spider-Sense went off again as the Hobgoblin jumped out, so Spider-Man quickly moved despite the pain.

But the car exploded as the Hobgoblin landed on it, the blast knocking Spider-Man into a wall, causing it to collapse as bricks piled onto him.

Looking back, Hobgoblin smirked, thinking that Spider-Man was dead as he wasn't emerging.

Giving a roar, Hobgoblin jumped into the air, using his claws to grab the side of a building as he began to move quickly though the city.

As he left, Spider-Man crawled out of the rubble, his costume torn and blood dripping out of the side of his mask and burns on his arms as he stumbled away, hearing sirens.

'G-Got to move.' Spider-Man thought about to shoot a web line only to hiss in pain as his arms flared up.

He couldn't fire a web line, let along web swing.

Moving quickly, Spider-Man ran down an alley with more pain flaring up before he collapsed.

The last thing he saw before darkness overcame him was a pair of feet heading towards him.

To Be Continued...

Well now Cedric has had a run in with his second supervillain and sadly it did not go his way at all and he got extremely injured from the fight losing consciousness with the police closing in.

Plus this story got a bit darker with the Hobgoblin slicing people in half with his claws to add to the realism of the story.

And we also see how Chief Bales got the idea of who Spider-Man was before getting rid of the notion on finding no evidence to support it.

Now we can only hope that Cedric finds a way out of this new mess.

Oh and next chapter will show how Bales deals with the information he found on the Flash Drive.

One more thing, should I have Stan Lee's Mighty 7 be in this considering that was an Animated Movie based on the Real World with Stan Lee housing seven aliens and teaching them how to be Super Heroes?

It's in a Poll if you want to vote for it.

Time to answer some Reviews.

Bookwormrdd: Thanks, it was a nice video.

Overlord Susanoo: Oh he will get his powers pretty soon, that much I can say. I think that having the Taskforce train some metahumans would be a good idea and no not all of them will wear a costume. I understand what you mean about how people complain about getting their powers, but powers do come at a price as well as everything changing with them getting powers. But I will have someone who likes the ideas of powers get them in the future, I can't promise that they won't complain about them at some point though. As for Stan Lee suing them, that would be funny to have but I think he wouldn't do that to Spidey because Spider-Man was one of his best characters and I think Stan said something about that as well, so he would probably like the fact that there is a real Spider-Man helping people... Then again I could be wrong.

Coldblue: Well I figured that after seeing first hand how far they were willing to go in the first issue, Cedric would want to get them as soon as possible to avoid more incidents like what happened and Zack was the voice of reason in trying to get him to avoid making a mistake. As for U.N.I.O.N and Bales, well I figured realistically this would be how a Chief of Police and the Director of a Government Approved Taskforce would react to how this was going. So true on Spider-Man being a major headache for the Police, U.N.I.O.N and Genesis all at once... Honeslty about feeling safe in America I wouldn't if anything like this began happening but I would still try to live life as best I could despite it due to not really being able to do anything about it. As for the Maker, well his story will be revealed later on and you will be shocked to find out who he is, let me say that much. I figured he needed to be a hero in another way then just pounding the bad guys and what better way then to prevent a terrible accident and yes while Cedric and Spider-Man are the same two people, he acts very different when he has the mask on then when he does without it. As for the U.N.I.O.N Acronym, that took freaking forever to think off and have it be a word that would be used for the Government, I wonder how they came up with SHIELD to be honest?

Now for your questions. 1) They will after the incident with the Hobgoblin. 2) That will be shown in the next chapter. 3) A little of all of the above. 4) Eventually. 5) Not for awhile because they would have to do so without leaving a trace and none of them are hackers. 6) Yes he will. 7) After all that is happening to him, he would be. 8) Perhaps five chapters? 9) No clue. 10) Well work is getting a bit demanding but I'm finding time to update thankfully. 11) That will be in the future when Mutants are made, possibly after two or three more Arcs when the Maker is revealed. 12) Yes but I won't have them be weak to sunlight to make them more of a threat as well as give them limited weaknesses. 13) Soon after Mutants are revealed. 14) In the near future, yes. 15) Possibly after the Hobgoblin incident.

Phantom Fan: Thanks I'm happy that everyone is enjoying the name I chose for the Taskforce, it took awhile to even come up with an Acronym that would sound good. As for the flash drive info, thank you because I didn't know anything about that (Haven't took a class about flash drives before) so it's fixed now. Again thank you for pointing that out.

Matt: So true on the Maker being more mad the M.M but as for the Police and President, realistically they would act like that and while Cedric is the main hero not a lot of people would put trust in him if someone like him appeared in real life and as for Octavia, she may be Doc Ock, only time will tell. Oh and Zack's powers have already been decided, you'll see them soon.

Nightmaster000: I watched it after seeing this review and it's an interesting idea, I'll leave it to a poll though.

Alright that's enough out of me, Spider-Man signing out!
