Author's Note: Thank you everyone who's actively reviewing to this story. Also for all of the follows and favorites. I highly encourage reviews that tell me what can be improved on and suggestions. I'm dedicating this chapter to my two best friends in the FF world who seem to be having a hard time. Tiffany7898 and WritersFantasy. The have had tough months so far. So go show their stories some love! They are great TXM writers and OC as well.

One Year Ago

Bulla stared out of the crowded airport. Snow was falling on the ground causing her breath to appear on the window that she had been attached to for the last ten minutes. It was thanksgiving break and she was heading home for the holidays. Bulla insisted on staying in America and just starting on her exit exam for her dissertation. Her mother had practically forced her to come back to the city of lights. West City, Japan had so many memories for her. She loved the city, but she was on a mission. Her mission was simple and that was to complete her masters in three years and her doctorate in another two. It was hard it was just time consuming.

Bulla had tested for the credit in most classes so that task was just tidiest. Bulla left the window and headed toward the exit of the large airport. Her bags were sent to the front and were likely placed in whatever car her mother had sent for her. It had been a long flight she was just happy that she took the private jet because she didn't think she could handle thirteen hours of crying children and annoyed travelers. Bulla tied the straps of her fashionable red petti coat. A pair of white pants and dark brown knee high riding boots. She carried her purse and patted her slicked back ponytail as she looked around the large area. All the people made her nervous.

She was just happy that she hadn't been recognized by any paparazzi. In America she couldn't even leave the campus without pictures of her appearing the next day on the news or an article. Bulla didn't like when she wasn't busy. When she wasn't busy, she was thinking. When she was thinking she was thinking about Christian Falun. The only person she had given her heart to have taken it, balled it up and gave back her bleeding broken heart.

Bulla physically shook her head to remove the negative thought that brought tears to her cerulean eyes. She patted her eyes a bit and ensured not to mess up her perfect make up. Walking through the automatic doors the cold of Japan hit her instantly causing goose bumps to form on her exposed hands. Bulla shivered a bit as she wasn't expecting it to be so chilly. Looking around she didn't see anyone in a Capsule Corp car for her. She continued to walk as she hoped that she wasn't forgotten. Bulla smiled as she saw a familiar face walking over to her. It was the one and only, Goten Son.

Months had passed since she had spoken to him, but not a day had passed since she had thought about him.

"Hey beautiful". Bulla felt as if she was going to melt. He always called her that since she was at least fifteen. He wrapped his arms around her and brought her into a big hug. Bulla felt tears forming in her eyes at the impact of his touch. She needed a friend and no one was better than him. The warmth of his hug radiated thought her body making her feel so…safe. "Welcome home". He said pulling away from the long hug. Goten saw the tears in her eyes and immediately was concerned.

"Are you okay"? He asked hoping that everything was. Bulla nodded quickly and wiped her tears away. Goten watched her and she tried her best to regain her composure, but he could tell she was only pretending. There was something inside of her broken.

"Yes, I'm okay. I'm just really happy to see you. I wasn't expecting you". Goten was happy that she was happy to see him. He was worried that she would be made at him for losing contact over the last couple of months. He didn't mean to it was just Valese had become so jealous of his friend ship with Bulla, he didn't want to cause problems. Also, he was trying to start his dojo off and was having problems. Goten opened the door to his brand new Mercedes he had bought after becoming the runner-up to the World Champion.

He was using his winnings to start up a business. Bulla smiled at him taking her bag and opening the door for her. She wasn't use to a man being such a gentleman to her. Then again it was Goten Son, he was every girls' dream. He was handsome and had the body of a god. Strong but, he had a kind heart. To Bulla he was an unattainable vision. Despite, the deal she had made with him years prior she never thought she could have him.

"Nice car, I took you for an Audi type of guy". Bulla said as he got into the car and pulled out of the terminal into merging traffic of the busy airport. Goten smiled at her and took his exit to the downtown district. Goten didn't say anything just looked at her and couldn't stop smiling. He had seen her on Skype four months ago while she was in the middle of homework. Goten never let that image of her evade him. She was wearing a button down pajama shirt and shorts. Her long blue hair was in messy bun and she was so flawless too him in that moment.

Now, she seemed so sad. She was smiling but it was just a masquerade of some sort. He felt guilty he didn't make a better effort to talk to her. Goten didn't want to be on the outside of her box. He wanted to close to her how they had always been.

"Hello, Goten are you there"? Bulla asked waving her hand in front of his face as he was just staring ahead and smiling. He blinked a couple of times shook his head a bit.

"Oh yea, sorry I was just thinking about the last time I skyped you. I missed you a lot". Goten said shifting his view from between the slippery road and the blue haired girl in his passenger seat. Bulla blushed thinking about that night. She remembered that night. She was trying to be so cool while he was sitting there without a shirt with a thin glaze of sweat on his rippling muscles. It was when Goten and Trunks was living together and they had just finished sparring.

He insisted on talking to her that night. They spent all night talking to each other over nothing, just reminiscing. Thinking about it put her into a state of nostalgia. Goten was there for her from the day her parents took her to America to start at the Ivy League university. They promised to stay close and they did for a while until Valese came into the picture.

"I missed you too but, I'll be here for the rest of the week. Hopefully we can do something fun together." Bulla said knowing that wasn't going to happen with Valese around. Bulla turned up the music in the expensive luxury car and began to laugh. "Thanksgiving isn't for another couple days and they already are playing jingle bells. It's ridiculous"

Bulla said listening to the gleeful music blasting in the car. Goten began to laugh as well at the thought of it. "Well you love Christmas. I remember when you were twelve you started always taking your toys to the shelters. That's what I love about you. You're so selfless and caring. What happened to that Bulla?" Goten said pulling into the gates of capsule corp. Bulla gave him a sad smile.

"Well the world was a little bit brighter to me then. I didn't realize how ugly the world could be back then." Bulla said exiting the car allowing the cold breeze to ease her.

Three Hours Later:

"Trunks I will kill you and feed you to sharks if you don't give that back"? Bulla yelled as Trunks grabbed her phone out of her hands. He was now taunting her with cellphone threating to go through her messages. Bulla hated how childish her brother could be. Trunks was eight years older than her and he was still immature when it came to everything. Vegeta just looked on at the duo as The Son Family and other members of the Z team sat around the massive living room.

Goten was sitting with Valese in his lap as she fussed about her outfit, hair, and other unnessacry things. Goten only replied, "yes babe" or "whatever you want babe". Trunks laughed as he tried to get into the phone, but it was locked with a password. "Bulla you may be smart, but you very predictable". Trunks said putting in her birthday. He failed to try to unlock the phone and only won a victorious grin from his younger counterpart.

"Not as predictable as you think you asshole now give it back before I take it"! Bulla yelled at him as she placed her hands on her hips as she looked up to him. Trunks stood about six inches taller than her but it wasn't about to matter in a few minutes.

"Trunks give it back, your sister hasn't been her for twelve hours and you're already being a jerk". Bulma said as she watched the intense game of monopoly happening between Vegeta and Goku. It was fun to watch especially since neither of them had any concept of money. They were both losing but, I didn't matter because they were playing it as if it was a game of speed instead of strategy. Bulma sipped her glass of pinot grigo as she warned Trunks.

"Hit him"! Pan yelled in excitement from across the room. The sound of a fight got everyone looking in their direction now. Trunks held the phone in the air keeping it out of her reach. He disregarded his mother's wishes and began to tap the screen of the phone.

"My degree is bioengineering you think I can't crack a phone password. Christian please don't do-"Trunks was stopped short by reading her message by a fist connecting with his stomach. He dropped the phone on the floor. Bulla grabbed the phone and ran out the back door of the compound. Goten knew that Trunks had pushed her too far this time. Bulla never resulted to violence even with her pin headed brother. Goten got up to go after of her.

"Can't you just give her a break? She just got here". Goten said stepping over a Trunks who had been brought to his knees by the powerful unexpected attack. Valese got up to protest him practically shoving her off him but, he was practically out the door before she could say anything.

Goten found Bulla outside sitting under the gazebo. He slowly approached her as he wanted to make sure she was okay. "Are you okay"? Goten said quietly sitting next to her. He watched tears strain from her eyes. He knew Trunks could upset her but not like this. It was something else as he previously thought. Before he knew it Bulla was tossing her phone at the ground causing the concrete to chip away. Goten didn't say anything just waited for her to talk.

Bulla was a gentle shy spirit so for her to be like this he knew something was terribly wrong.

After a couple of moments Goten made the first move and wiped her tears away. Bulla didn't move at first then she only collapsed into his chest as she began to cry. Goten didn't say anything he just hugged her closely to him and let her cry. He promised to be there for her and it was time to keep good on that promise. No matter how he felt for her. He was a friend first everything came second to that. He wouldn't admit it out loud, but even Valese came second to that.

So they sat there in the coldest of the night. Alone in the darkest as only the warmth they created between each other kept them warm. They sat outside together for at least an hour before Bulla came to check on them. Goten cherished her.

Author's Note: This chapter isn't much about romance, but about friendship. I tried to execute that thought. Goten is not only the ideal boyfriend but he was her friend first before everything. You may see reputation in the flashbacks that he tries to always put himself second to her and I think that is what relationships are about. Please review and also follow or favorite. If you followed me on IG please send me a message on her. IG Name: Leamiabron, I try to update weekly, but I'm in college so don't penalize me! Thanks for reading!
