I am so sorry for keeping all of you waiting. I really am, but I was busy and it was just very impossible to update. I only just started typing and uploading stories again. In the previous chapter, I said this chapter was going to be the last chapter but it isn't going to be. A few more chapters or probably, one more chapter will follow …it depends.
I dedicate this chapter to LadyJames. Thank you and luv ya.
Chapter Ten:
Milah's POV
It had been a week since Freddie found out that I was his daughter. I hadn't seen him since then though because he had to travel to Ireland for some important meeting or something. We spoke on the phone a lot though, not as much as he did with mom but at least he called every day. Mom got all smileys when he called and I was beginning to suspect that there was something going on between them but I pushed it to the back of my mind because they had only just started talking and it seemed absurd. It didn't mean that I didn't want them together though, because I did. When Freddie arrived from the airport he called mom to tell her and it ended up in a really long conversation and then they were bickering and then mom started calling him names. I rolled my eyes with a playful smile and went to the living room. I flopped down on the couch and started texting Brooklyn and Kirk.
After what seemed to be about an hour, mom finally came out still with the phone pressed to her ear. She turned to me with the brightest smile which made her look prettier than usual and said, "Freddie wants to take you out today. Just you and him what do you say?"
"I'd love to" I said. I was really happy because I was finally going out with my dad. First time ever! I had dreamt of a day like that ever since I had learnt how to talk. "What time is he coming?"
She held up her hand to me as if to tell me to hold on and said into the phone, "She says yes, what time will you be here… okay… sure."
She cut the call and smiled up at me. "Be ready in an hour."
My dad had arrived in an hours' time and I still hadn't gathered the right outfit. It was my first day with him and I wanted to make the right impression I didn't want him to see the sarcastic side of me; the one he saw when he came to teach us. I guess I was taking too long because mom came up and she looked really worried.
"Milah, what's wrong?" She asked.
"I don't know what to wear"
"But you've never had a problem with clothes. Why now?"
"I want to appear daughter material, not like a hermaphrodite"
"Milah, you've never liked wearing dresses." She smiled lightly at me. "Freddie is going to like you just the way you are. I've always told you that you are just like me when I was your age… Freddie liked me for who I was"
"I'm just so nervous."
"Don't be" she smiled and helped me pick an outfit.
Freddie's POV:
I decided to take Milah to the Groovy Smoothie and then to the park and if there was more time, I was going to send her to the movies. We went to all the places I planned to take her and it was really fun. She was very sarcastic; just like her mother. At a point she started asking questions about Carly, and because I didn't want to keep secrets from her I answered every one of them, including the scandal that erupted the week before.
"If the child is really yours, then you're going to spend all your time with it. I heard babies are a handful" She said in a distant voice.
At first, I didn't know what to make of the sad voice but then I caught on immediately. She thought I wasn't going to have time for her and I was going to spend all my time with the baby. "Milah," I said as I put my hand on her shoulder. "Even if the baby is mine, I'm not going to spend all my time with it. You are my daughter too and I'm going to take care of you as best as I can. I know I just met you a few weeks ago but, I love you, no matter what you wear." I smiled as I looked her over in her yellow blouse which she paired with a pair of black colored jeans and black and white shin high converse. Her long brown hair was in a high ponytail."
"How do you know I was having wardrobe crises?" She asked shyly, turning red.
"I've stayed with women all my life"
She blushed harder and made a move to walk away, but I caught her and pulled her in for a hug. At first, she seemed shocked but then she warmed up to me and hugged me back.
"I love you." I said.
"I love you too, Dad" She said.
She called me dad. My heart swelled when she said that. It actually sank in that she was my daughter. The feeling was amazing when she called me that. I never got to call my dad that. I didn't even know who he was.
When I dropped Milah off at home, she gave me a hug and ran upstairs to her room to talk to her friend or whatever she was going to do, leaving Sam and I in the living room.
"Did you guys have fun?" Sam asked. Her hair was in a ponytail and she wore a pair if emerald studded earrings, which brought out her beauty and made her blue eyes gleam under the lights.
"Yeah, we did. She called me dad and she said she loved me."
"That's great!" Sam gleamed. "Aren't you feeling all dorky and cheesy" she teased.
"You aren't going to stop teasing me are you?"
"I'm afraid not, dork. Just a warning, do not turn Milah into a dork or else I'd slaughter you"
"As I recall, you were happy to date this dork some years ago" I said with a smirk, knowing exactly where I wanted the conversation to go"
"Maybe, I was a little bit too naïve."
"Will you call yourself naïve now if we were to go on a date?" We were so close by then there seemed to be absolutely no space in between us. I pulled her towards me by the waist and she grinned.
"Of course I'd call myself naïve. It's Fredward Benson I'd be going out with. But, I guess I like being naïve"
I caught her lips in between mine and we shared a slow, sweet kiss. "I'd pick you up at 7: 30 tomorrow…"
"Only if you promise me that we'd be doing a lot of this" she said.
"Consider it done." I captured her lips with mine again and it felt good to kiss Sam after twelve years of not seeing her.
There goes the chapter. I hope you liked it. You know what to do, review.
