Ch. 10
The citizens were scattered in all directions as they screamed in terror from Mojo's latest robot, lasers firing out of it as it stomped through Townsville and blasted some building down and leaving behind a couple cheese-like holes through them. "MWAHAHAHAHAHAA! Run you filthy humans, for I, Mojo Jojo, will finally rule the world! And nothing can stop my plans! Not even those silly, little-"
"NOT SO FAST, MOJO JOJO!" the marsupial jumped slightly and turned to see the Powerpuff Girls hovering above him and grinned.
"Ah, the Powerpuff Girls. I was expecting you. I knew you would come because I, Mojo Jojo, am a genius, in which therefore, I have predicted you show up at this exact moment at this exact time. For I have devised a plan soo evil, I will finally be able to destroy you, ONCE AND FOR ALL!"
"Oh yeah? And what would that be?" said a voice from behind him.
"Huh?" he turned back around curiously and saw the Rowdyruff Boys hovering above him as they looked down upon him with frowns on their faces and their arms crossed. But he was oblivious of their expressions as he smiled up at them. "Ah, my boys! You have come to witness my success in annihilating the Powerpuff Girls and watch me take over the world." He stated positively, but their expressions didn't budge.
"No." They replied bluntly, giving him cold glares and the monkey stared at them confused before a thought crossed his mind and he smiled once more.
"Oh, I see. You want to destroy them yourselves and help me in my plans on taking over the world, which will mean you three will work alongside me, which will mean you will also rule the world. And why wouldn't you? For I, Mojo Jojo, inspired you to rule the world and to destroy the Girls."
"No." They repeated once more, making him more confused. But again, he tried to give another reason why they were here.
"Then you have come to-"
"No, you mother-fucker!" Butch yelled out in irritation, taking the monkey aback by the insult, but he was not surprised since it was Butch. "We came here to stop you!"
"...Whaaaat?"
"Butch." Brick gave his brother a look that said, "let me handle this" before turning back to their first creator who stared, bemused. "We came here to stop you from destroying the city and throw your ass in jail."
"What do you mean?" he inquired questionably, not understanding what the redhead was saying.
Boomer put his hands on his hips. "You heard him; we're taking you down and putting you back in jail!" He stated vehemently.
"Why? What is the meaning of this? I demand you tell me what is your reason behind this, for I will not understand until you will explain yourselves!" he ordered, exasperated. Have the boys gone insane?! The raven just scoffed.
"We don't have to explain ourselves to you." He answered in a bored tone, making marsupial angrier.
"TELL ME!" he demanded and Brick rolled his eyes.
"If you must know, we're doing this because we've decided to join the girls to protect the city." Mojo was astonished by this, but then caught on to what they were "meaning" as he glanced at the Puffs, who were still behind him as they watched on, and looked back at the Ruffs with a knowing smile.
"Oh, now I understand. You're trying to gain the Powerpuff Girls' trust so you can destroy them when they least expect it. Brilliant boys! That is the most evilest plan I, Mojo Jojo, have ever heard. I couldn't have thought of it better myself. I am so proud of my children!" Butch face-palmed at his stupidity while Boomer just shook his head pitifully at how much in denial he was in and Brick just glared darkly at him at the last comment; they were certainly not his kids anymore, they were the Professor's now and no one else's. The girls just shook their heads at how sad this was.
"We are not here to plan against the girls and we are not your KIDS!" Brick shouted angrily.
"Huh?" he said dumbly as he raised a brow questionably. "Ooh, right. You 'aren't' planning against the girls and you aren't my children. Got it." he winked at them.
The boys groaned. "My god, you are such a dumbass!" the green ruff exclaimed, his brothers thinking the same thing as they felt disappointed.
"For a monkey who has a big brain and can make robots and lasers, he sure is clueless and stupid." The blue ruff added, the red ruff nodding in agreement. Meanwhile, Mojo was completely lost. Brick tried to explain it as simple as possible.
"Let me clarify more slowly for ya. We. Are. Not. Planning. Against. The Girls."
"What?" said Mojo.
"We've changed, Mojo. We live with them now and signed a contract with them." The blonde explained. "We also swore an oath to protect Townsville and its citizens from bastards like you!" his brothers looked to him in surprise because they had never heard him swear before while Boomer just ignored them and glared at the monkey in hatred who was equally shocked. Then Mojo suddenly felt outraged by this when the words finally registered.
"WHAT?! You dare to betray your own father! You three were created to do pure evil, which makes YOU pure evil. I, Mojo Jojo, created you boys to destroy the Powerpuff Girls and take over the world alongside me, which therefore make me the RULER OF THE WORLD and you dare to turn on me?! I HAVE CREATED YOU AND YOU WILL OBEY ME!" the boys glared at him coldly.
"You are not our DAD! The Professor is now!" Butch exclaimed angrily and Mojo became confused.
"Pardon me?"
Brick answered his question. "You are not our father. You may have given us our lives...but you were never a father to us, or anything along the lines of one. You abandoned us and were never there for us when we needed someone. And HIMs not any better! You guys left us out here to fend for ourselves and completely ignored us. Sure we have superpowers but that change the fact that we're kids. You both treated us like chess pieces for your stupid plans to take over the fucking worlds or when it's convenient for you and you didn't even think to consider how we felt about it all! The Professor is more of a dad than you two combined! Unlike you, he actually cares about us and gave us a place we can call home; he and the girls actually want to help us while you created and recreated us to use us as weapons against the girls and for your own personal gain and treat us like shit! You may be our first creator, but you will never be our father like the Professor is, who will never abandon us like you and HIM. You will never be like him! WE HATE YOU!"
Brick panted when he finished as Mojo just stared at them in shock and disbelief. Then his face morphed into a look of anger. "So...this is what you have decided. Even though you were specifically created to destroy the Powerpuff Girls, you will not change your minds?" they nodded without hesitation.
"We will protect this city and the people who live here with our very lives, and you will not lay a finger on the girls of the Professor."
"And if any if the villains even dares to harm the people we care about-"
"-we will fucking beat the living shit out of them." Mojo couldn't believe what he was hearing. His own creations (his own sons) have turned against him and have sided with the enemies they were created to destroy!
"If that is what you have decided, then I, Mojo Jojo, have no choice...BUT TO DESTROY YOU ALONG WITH THE POWERPUFF GIRLS!" with that said, he turned around and blasted the girls out of the air and they yelped in surprise and crashed into a nearby building.
"BLOSSOM!"
"BUBBLES!"
"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" they flew at him in outrage and attacked. Mojo saw the attack coming and tried blasting. Brick and Boomer got hit and crashed to the ground making craters, but Butch used his shield to protect him and used it to ram into the side of the robot. Mojo simply knocked him to the ground before he could. The boys got off the ground and stood in formation. The girls got back in time to watch the fight.
"Ballistic Barrage!" the red ruff shouted and they ran at the robot and proceeded to beat it down to the ground with super fast punches. They were knocked away and Mojo got up before trying to blast them, but they dodged each laser and retaliated by using their laser vision. Brick made an energy ball and looked to the blue ruff. "Boomer! Batter up!" catching on what he was meaning immediately, Boomer materialized his electric bat as his brother pitched the red electric orb. He swung at the right moment and hit it, making the energy ball hit its mark and crash into the glass dome. It ricocheted in the glass before hitting the control system, distracting the marsupial. "Moch T3!" the three locked hands and spun around into a cyclone-kaleidoscope of colors, growing larger and larger as it drew in everything close by, including the robot with the monkey still in it. Mojo screamed as he was sucked into the colorful cyclone, affectively ripping the robot apart piece by piece from the force and spitting him out and making him skid and bounce on the ground face-first.
Mojo groaned in pain, rubbing his aching face but paused when a shadow came over him and slowly glanced up only to find the Rowdyruff Boys towering over him, giving him very angry looks. "What did we say about laying a hand on the girls?" Boomer demanded coldly. Butch punched his fist a couple times, growling under his breath and Brick cracked his neck. The monkey gulped and chuckled nervously before he scrambled up and tried to run for his life but the blonde grabbed the end of his cape and slammed him on the ground from side to side. He spun him around in the air before letting go, making him scream as he was thrown towards the raven who kicked him in the jaw hard (and possibly braking a few of his teeth), launching him upward into the air. The redhead flew fast - flying past their former creator-and waited above him, and then, with his hands clasped in a tight fist, he slammed them down on Mojo when he was close enough and effectively making him crash down to the ground in a plume of dust and debris. When it cleared, in its place were a big crater and a groaning monkey.
"Uuuuh..." Mojo moaned as he weakly climbed out and the boys stood in front of him. For their final blow, they raised their fists and punched in the face at the same time and sending him flying towards an open police truck, the doors closing automatically. He got up and looked around disoriented before realizing where he was and grabbed the bars to the little window in outrage shouting, "CURSE YOU ROWDYRUFF BOYS! You will regret betraying me and I, Mojo Jojo, your creator, will have MY REVENGE!" as the car drove off towards city jail. The girls flew down towards the boys who were frowning at the ground.
"You boys all right?" Blossom asked in concern. They just nodded wordlessly, still frowning.
"Yeah..." said Butch and glanced up to them. "You girls okay?"
Buttercup scoffed. "Pfft. Puh-lease, give us a little credit."
"Yeah! We're the Powerpuff Girls!" Bubbles added.
"And it'll take a lot more than one of Mojo's lasers to hurt us." Blossom added positively. She put her hand on her counterpart's shoulder and gave it a reassuring squeeze. "You guys did great on your first time being hero's, but are you sure you three are okay; it has been an emotional day for you?" she asked, eying at each one of them; her sisters agreeing. They gave them a small smile as their answer, leaving it at that. Suddenly a swarm of reporters surrounded the six with cameras zooming in and flashing and microphones practically shoved in their faces. Brick and Butch were taken aback by this while Boomer just smiled and waved at the cameras as if it were natural, enjoying the attention. What a ham. Meanwhile, the girls just stood there calmly since they were used to this sort of thing and watched the boys in amusement to see how they would handle the situation.
"Should we help them?" the youngest puff asked in a whispered tone.
"Nah, let 'em handle It." the middle sister whispered back slyly.
"Besides, they're gonna have to sooner or later; might as well start now." The oldest added and they watched as reporters tried to get the boys' attention, questions flying everywhere. Poor things didn't know what to do as they looked around in confusion.
"Brick, Brick! Are you all working with the Powerpuff Girls?"
"Have you-"
"Are the Rowdyruff Boys-"
"Are you dating the Powerpuff Girls?" that particular last question made them blush in embarrassment while said Puffs giggled, clearly having heard it as well. The reporters kept on yelling and shoving as they all tried to get closer to the Ruffs so they could answer their questions first. Buttercup smirked as she eyed her counterpart who was clearly not enjoying how close the people were getting in his personal space and was getting more annoyed by the second at their incessant shouting and yelling; one of the mikes he was glaring in particular as it was getting closer and closer to touching him. She nudged her sisters.
"I'll bet you both a buck that Fido over there will be the first one to snap." She claimed.
"Oo!" "You're on!" they answered, instantly knowing who she meant by "Fido" and they all watched expectantly as the raven haired ruff glanced around in annoyance; practically steaming out of his ears as he still glared at the same mike that was now poking him in the arm. Big mistake.
"Would you all just SHUT UP AND BACK OFF!" he yelled vehemently, making them all away in fear while his brothers looked grateful.
Buttercup nodded with a smirk. "Mmhm, told ya." Her sisters laughed and patted her on the back before giving her the money.
Brick turned to the group of people and said, "Please, one question at a time." Immediately, reporters began to shout for his attention and he scanned the people before pointing at a woman in a blue dress.
"Brick, is it true that the Rowdyruff boys have really changed and turned away from a life of crime to join the Powerpuff Girls in protecting Townsville who you were created to destroy by Mojo Jojo and HIM?" she asked and turned the mike on him.
"Yes," said Brick, "it is true. We signed a contract with the girls and made an oath to protect this city and turn our lives around." More people shouted more questions. "You in the gray suit." The man stepped forward.
"Is it true that you are living with the girls and that what you said about the famous Professor John Utonium, creator of the Powerpuff Girls, adopting you is true?"
Boomer happily smiled up at the man. "Yew we are, and we're happy to be with them." More shouts came after he was finished and they picked another woman in a red dress.
"When did this occur and how did this happen?" Butch took over this time.
"It happened right after we robbed that local candy store yesterday. The Powerpuff Girls approached us and we accepted-end of story. Now one more question and the girls will take over." They shouted to get the last question in and a man in big glasses and a fedora was picked.
"Why would the Rowdyruff Boys just suddenly change their ways after everything they were created and told to do and just join the Powerpuff Girls? What are you getting out of this?" he inquired suspiciously as everyone voiced out in agreement. They boys looked to one another and back up at the man before the redhead held up a hand to settle everyone down and chimed in.
"If you all must know, we are getting nothing out of this. All we ever wanted was to be accepted and have a loving home and family that cares about us. We were tired of our old lives and how we were being treated as outcasts. The Professors and the girls came to us to turn our lives around and treated us like human beings when no one else did; they treated us like everyone else should while the Townies just shunned and hated us when all we wanted was for someone to notice us. You may not believe us and even still hate us...but for us we believe that we really can change and that we can and will protect this city with our very live to you citizens. Thing what you like about us, we don't care. Just know that we're here to protect all of you and won't ask for anything in return...because we're better than that. We turned away the life we had because we wanted to take control of it for once and be what we want to be instead of what we were created to be. We didn't want to be used as tools for evil and not have any say about it. No, we wanted to take control for once. The Rowdyruff Boys will not turn to a life of crime again!" with that said and done, the girls stepped up while the boys backed away and waited for them to finish the questions. They stayed for 10 minutes before they flew off towards home in silence. They saw the Professor standing outside the house waiting for them and landed in front of him.
"I'm glad to see you kids back home safe and sound; I watched the whole thing on the news. Are you boys all right?" when they saw the care and worry in his eyes, they shook with emotion and started bawling their eyes out, letting out all the tears they held back since the fight and everything that had happened throughout the whole day. They all smiled at them sympathetically as they understood completely on how they're feeling and what they had to deal with. Professor knelt down on one knee in front of the boys and gathered them in his arms, letting them cry their hearts out on his chest. "There, there now. Everything will be all right; let it all out." He said in a soothing voice while the girls stood off to the side smiling at the tenderly moment. After a while they tried to calm themselves and wipe the tears away from their faces, a bit embarrassed for crying. "Now, doesn't that feel better?" they nodded and he set them down.
"Sorry." They muttered out.
"Now don't apologize, it's fine to cry every now and then and you shouldn't feel embarrassed for it."
"But babies cry! And we are not babies." Argued the green ruff, his brothers agreeing.
"But you are also little boys and it's fine to cry for kids your age; I cry sometimes too." They smiled slightly at this. "Besides, who believes that anyways? Now real men, real men who cry are the manliest of all." He stated, flexing his nonexistent muscles.
"Really?!" they exclaimed and he nodded.
"Sure! It shows that we are not only tough, but we are also capable of feeling too. And uh," he leaned down and they leaned in, "it also works with the ladies, if you know what I mean?" he wiggled his eyebrows and they blushed slightly. He stood back up. "Now then, are you babies?"
"No."
"What are you then?"
"We're strong and tough."
"Uh huh, and what are you called?"
"We're men."
"What was that?"
"We're men!"
"I can't hear you."
"WE'RE THE ROWDYRUFF BOYS AND WE ARE MEN! YEAH!" they shouted and high-fived while the girls' laughed, glad to see their spirits lifted.
"Now that's what I like to hear from my boys." They smiled up at him happily; glad to have him as their new dad. They went inside and the kids proceeded to go up to their new room to celebrate the boys' victory on their first mission. They clanked their glasses of soda together and cheered as the Puffs congratulated the Ruffs.
"Well guys, congratulation on your very first mission as heroes." Said the pink puff after sipping her drink.
"Thanks."
"You know boys, this actually feels...right for once." Said Brick.
"You're right Brick, it actually does." Boomer agreed.
"Yeah, I actually feel good for once. No pun intended." Butch added.
"Well I'm glad you three feel that way." Said Blossom. Bubbles walked over to the boys' stereo to put on some music for their little party. She put it on the radio and "Dance Without You" by Shylar Grey came on. The girls gasped in delight.
"Oh I love this song!" exclaimed the blonde puff and she and her sisters started dancing and moving their bodies to the music while their counterparts watched them stunned by their dancing skills; they knew that they could dance but they didn't know how well they could be. As the song came to an end the girls saw their expressions and laughed.
"We interrupt this program to bring you a special bulletin news about the Powerpuff Girls and, you are not going to believe this…the Rowdyruff Boys!" the kids paused in their celebration when they heard the boys' names and listened intently. "Can you believe it?! Just this afternoon, the boys saved Townsville by stopping Mojo Jojo, the creator of the Rowdyruff Boys, from destroying the city. Word is that they have joined our fair heroines on protecting our city as heroes of Townsville. If you don't believe me, listen to this. 'Yes, it is true. We signed a contract with the girls and swore an oath to protect the city and turn our lives around.' That was a word from one our very own newest hero Itself-Brick, the leader of the Rowdyruff Boys. I am flabbergasted at this turn of events! Words cannot describe how amazed I am by this. It is just amazing how we have new heroes in our mitts; not just one, but three and-oh! This just in, we have word that the Professor Utonium, creator of the Powerpuff Girls, had also just adopted the Boys and are now living in his very home at this moment. Press will sure eat this up. I just wish I can walk over there and congratulate themmyself, so I hope they are listening in on this broadcast right now because they surely are starting to make a new name for themselves." The kids jumped and cheered for joy. "What do you think of our new heroes, Tom?" they quieted down so they can hear what the other man's response is going to be, Bubbles turning up the volume.
"I don't believe it for a second." The kids gasped. "I think this whole thing is a ruse to take over the city."
"Why so negative, Tom? They just saved Townsville from Mojo himself."
"He's their creator, so it's pretty obvious that they would use him to convince their loyalty to the city by 'betraying' their creator, but we all know where their loyalty really lies. For all we know, he could have orchestrated the whole thing so we wouldn't think otherwise, but what they're really up is to make the Rowdyruff Boys look like they changed when they're really not. They just want the spotlight on them so they could lead us into a false sense of security until they wait for the right moment…and STAB us in the BACK, and take over the world. But I'm not blind, I'm not gonna be fooled into their ruse."
"…Interesting theory you've got there, but I don't believe it. They seemed to be really mad at Mojo when they fought him. Besides, they did say on the news that hated being used for evil by Mojo and HIM."
"All a part of their act to charm the Townies into believing them. They may be impressive in the art of persuasion and are excellent actors, but that's just it! An act!"
"But from what I heard, the girls approached the Boys into changing their ways and they confirmed it. Listen to this from our very own Blossom herself, 'Yes, it is true that the Boys agreed to our offer to change their ways and start a new life as citizens and as heroes as well just yesterday.' Still think they're trying to trick us?"
"I don't buy it! I know that the Girls have the best of hearts and they are intelligent little girls, but even they shouldn't buy into their act and know when they are lying through their teeth. They are fools to believe such ridiculous nonsense and the Professors no better! All they are doing is wasting their time and trust in those miscreants when they should be locked up in juvie for all trouble and crimes they've committed in our fair city."
"I don't know. I think they've proven themselves enough in my eyes and you shouldn't be so hard on them. Besides, you said the same thing about the Girls when they were first created."
"That was different! The Girls have proven themselves time and time again that we can trust them with our lives by using their powers to help our citizens and what have the Boys done with theirs? Nothing! All they have done with their gifts is cause destruction after destruction and do it while laughing at our misery! Jim, I respect you enough and you are my friend but you are too trusting for your own good. You shouldn't your faith and trust into three super-powered delinquent children that were created for and to be evil to the bone. They were first born in jail and were literally born in hell by the number one villain in Townsville and the devil itself! While the Puffs were created to be the perfect little girls, the Ruffs were created to be the perfect little villains and they should be destroyed."
"But you shouldn't judge them by where, how, and whom they born from or their background. They're just kids that didn't know any better and were taught stuff they shouldn't have been doing from their creators. And besides, nobodies perfect; not even the Girls who have made plenty of mistakes in their very young lives like everybody else."
"You're so naïve, Jim. In my eyes, they are villains. And once a villain, always a villain." Having heard enough, Brick shut off the stereo. Boomer started crying and Bubbles walked over to comfort him.
"The nerve of that…that…" Butch looked to Brick, as if asking for permission.
"Go ahead…"
"That asshole! How dare he judge us like that when he doesn't even know us!"
Buttercup punched her fist into her palm. "When I get my hands on that callus mother fucker, he'll get the hiny whooping of a life time. Fools, pfft! Well I'll show him who's the fool, then we'll see."
"Okay, okay. Now come on, let's all calm down and take a deep breath here." Said Blossom, calmly. "There's no need to go on a rampage because of one guy."
The red ruff liked at her, as if not believing it. "How do you know? He's probably not the only one who thinks we should be dead."
"Okay, I don't. Butch, you're right."
"I am?"
"Yes, he doesn't know any of you three really and neither does the whole of Townsville. Look, you can't really blame him or any of them because they only judge you guys by what they know instead of judging you guys for who you are. After all, you three may have accomplished a victory that no ex-con has ever done but you can't expect everyone believe that you are heroes after one save. You've got to work your way to earn their trust before they can really believe you boys are heroes, like we did. We had to work hard to get where we are today and I know you guys will too."
"Yeah, I guess." Said Boomer as he blew into a tissue. "But it still hurts."
"Of course it does, only if you let it hurt you. All that matters is that you saved their lives, and that's worth while. Don't worry, they'll accept you eventually; it takes time. You just have to be patient with the Townies."
"Yeah, but for how long? What if there are still people out there that still hates us even after everything?" inquired Butch. Buttercup shrugged.
"Then whatever. You know the saying, 'Haters gonna hate'." Blossom nodded.
"She's right. Not everyone will like you. There will always be some out there that will still hate you, but that's life. We deal with it."
"Do you guys have haters?" Boomer asked curiously.
"Oh yeah, we have some. And that doesn't include the usual villains in Townsville." Said his counterpart, a bright smile on her face. The boys' eyes widened.
"Really?!"
"You girls actually have haters?!"
"I don't buy that."
"No, it's really true." Said the pink puff. "One time, we moved to another city called Cityville- "
"A city called 'Cityville'? Okay, now I really don't buy it." Butch interrupted with a raised brow.
"Well it's not that much of a weird. A city called 'Townsville' is just as weird of a name." Buttercup pointed out.
"Good point."
"Ahem…" the two looked over and gave sheepish smiles when they saw Blossom with a blank look on her face, her hands on her hips and her foot tapping. "Do you mind?"
"Sorry…" they mumbled back.
"Anyways, we moved there because of the Professor getting a job opportunity there. When we arrived, the place was the total opposite of Townsville; all gloomy, full of angry citizens, and just downright depressing. The moment we set foot in that place, everyone immediately hated us. People at school hated us, the citizens hated us and called us freaks, even the mayor there hated us and thought we were a waste of his time after we requested for him to contact us if they needed our help. Even when we were helping stopping a couple of robbers from getting away, they still hated us. Although technically, now that I think about it we may have gone a little overboard when we accidentally destroyed their bridge." The boys gaped at what she said but she ignored them. "After that, we had to walk home because they wouldn't let use our powers and told the Professor we wanted to go home and BAM…we're back home."
"…"
"…"
"…Whoaaa…"
"Anyways, you see my point. We all got haters out there somewhere, so you don't have to prove anything to them."
"Yeah, we see your point. Thanks…" said Brick, then had a thoughtful look. "Hey, by the way, what did happen when you guys were created; we weren't around that time?" the girls turned to look at one another, silently asking each other if they should tell them before looking at them again.
"Well...let's just say our introduction to Townsville…didn't really go as you say…'spectacular'."
"Huh? What do you mean?" asked the blue ruff.
The Puffs stood there looking sheepish. "We may have sort of…"
"…Kind of maybe…"
"…Destroyed the city while playing a game of tag…"
The Ruffs stared at them dumbfounded before bursting out in a fit of laughter. The girls blushed in embarrassment.
"Ah pipe down will ya! We had no idea ours would cause that much destruction." Said Buttercup, either looking annoyed or still embarrassed judging from how red her face was. Probably both.
"Yeah, but we didn't think you guys would do it on accident by just one little game!" commented Brick, causing him and his brothers to break down into another fit.
"Alright, alright! You three had your fun. We're not finished explaining here!" said Blossom when the boys finally calmed themselves. "Thank you. As I was saying, after that happened, the whole city viewed us as if we were monsters because of our abilities and put the Professor in jail while we went into hiding, vowing we would never use our powers again."
"What?! They put the Professor in jail?!" exclaimed the green ruff. The girls nodded sadly.
"Well, you girls are still using your powers now. What changed your minds?" inquired Boomer.
"Mojo." Said Blossom.
"Huh?" they said dumbly. Buttercup took it from there.
"Mojo happened. He tricked us into using our powers by persuading us and gaining our trust when we were at our weakest, making us think we could do good with them."
Bubbles took this as her turn with a sad look. "He made us build his observatory and took all those poor monkeys and apes from the zoo to use as his mammal army by experimenting with them so he would take over the city with them." The boys were silent before their expressions morphed into looks of anger.
"He is gonna pay."
"I knew I should've kicked him harder."
"I hate him more than ever!"
"Maybe we shouldn't mention that Mojo used the Professor to make him copy our superpowers so he could have them too." Bubbles whispered to her sisters, but with their supersonic hearing, the boys heard anyway.
"He WHAT?!"
"BUBBLES?!"
"Oopsies!"
"THAT'S IT! I've had it with him!" Brick shouted as he and his brothers were about to head out the window, but the girls stopped them.
"WHOA, whoa, whoa! Wait a minute! You can't just go to the prison and beat him up." Said Blossom.
"Why not? He has to get what he deserves for what he did you to us, to all of us!" argued Butch.
"I know how you feel but revenge isn't the answer."
Boomer shook his head. "It's not revenge; it's justice!"
"No it's not, what you're about to do isn't justice at all. It's mean!" said Bubbles.
"Plus you guys are super heroes now; you need to make an example of yourselves to the people and you did, by throwing Mojo in jail who is serving out his sentence right now." Added Blossom. "Look, there's no need to go after him and beat him up again; that'll just put you guys into juvie even if he's a criminal and make you lose everything you've worked hard for."
The boys look to each other and nodded their consent. "Yeah, I guess you're right. I still won't forgive him or HIM." Brick mumbled the last part.
"You don't have to forgive them, just show Mojo and HIM that you're better than them." Said Buttercup. They gave her confused looks, making her sigh in annoyance before she looked to her older sister, seeing as she can explain things better than her.
"What she means is that you need to show them that you're the better person than they are; show them that you don't need them by letting them know who's boss and you are not to be underestimated. You are above them by not resorting to such drastic measures such as revenge. You don't need to forgive them, but you can still live out your lives while not letting them get to you."
"Ohh, I see." Said Brick, now understanding. "Blossom, you're right. We don't need them and we are better than them. Right boys?"
"Yeah!"
"That's the spirit, guys." Said Blossom. "Now let's not talk about this anymore and get back to celebrating your victory. And we can do that by making a special dinner for you guys. Who's hungry?" they all voiced out their agreements and made their way downstairs towards the kitchen. The girls quickly made a feast fit for a king: fresh yeast rolls, mash potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn, and a large roast chicken. The boys were practically salivating at the spread as they breathed in the amazing smells. "Wait until you guys see dessert."
"What's for dessert?" they asked.
Bubbles giggled. "It's a surprise. Professor! ~ Dinners ready! ~" she called in a sing-song voice. Suddenly, they all heard and crashing noise downstairs and some scrambling. After that, they heard a shout and a boom! The boys winced at the noise while the girls giggled, used to it.
"Professor, is everything alright down there?" the pink puff called.
"Oh yes, everything's fine!" he called back before they heard stomping. Not a minute later, the Professor his way inside the dining room looking a bit disheveled and a little dusty. He smiled wide at the spread. "Wow, the food looks great!"
"Thanks!"
"Well I'll just getting myself cleaned up first before I eat. You all go ahead and start eating." After he walked out of the room, they all dug in.
"This tastes incredible!" said Boomer as he ate his mash potatoes and gravy.
"You have got to teach us how to cook." Said Brick, eating a fork full of green beans and corn.
"Wow! This chicken is good." Butch complimented as he munched on a chicken leg.
"By the way, Butch," he looked up to the pink puff, "do you still not want us to teach you how to cook?" they all turned to his expectantly. Butch stared at all of them and bit his lip.
"I…guess It couldn't hurt to at least know how." He muttered, making the blue puff squeal and clap in joy. He flushed in embarrassment.
"Yay! Now we have all the boys to teach."
Blossom smiled, pleased. "I'm glad you changed your mind."
"Let's just hope that they won't burn the house down, huh." Buttercup commented with a smirk.
"Buttercup…" Blossom scolded lightly with a chuckle as the Professor came back in, looking fresh and clean before sitting down and serving himself a plate.
"Ha! If you ask me, it will probably be Brick since fire is his specialty." Said Butch with a smug look. Boomer snickered since it was true and Brick glared at him.
"Hey! Don't leave yourself out of this, mister. You'll probably break everything or flood the whole kitchen!"
"True. But at least I won't blow the oven or microwave; that'll be Boom's job."
"Hey! That's not true."
"Oh please, it's one of the reasons your name is Boomer." The two laughed at his expense while he pouted and crossed his arms, mumbling about everyone always picking on blondes. His counterpart agreeing whole heartedly.
"Aw, cheer up man."
"Yeah, your name wouldn't be Boomer if you didn't make things go out with a boom."
Boomer huffed. "Yeah, I guess you're not wrong on that." As they continued eating, everyone, even the Professor, began talking about stories they had and adventures they've been on. The girls told some about their past saving, along with some weird ones they've encountered while the boys talked about some embarrassing stories and some astonishing rumors they've heard about the villains. They laughed at most of them, but the most amazing story they heard was when the Professor talked about the time when he became a superhero for a short while so he could spend time with the girls.
"Really?" they asked as they stared at him in awe and admiration. He nodded and their eyes lit up, all three of them thinking that it was so cool. But then they noticed the girls embarrassed looks and became confused. So when the Professor excused himself to refill his glass of water, the girls took the opportunity to tell the boys what really happened on the day that he quit.
"We never told him this, but we basically orchestrated the whole saving-our-lives thing with Mojo so he could quit." Blossom said in a hushed tone.
Their eyes bulged at this. "Really? Why?"
"Because he embarrassed us the whole time while we were fighting crime and saving the day!"
"Plus, we knew it would get too dangerous for him at some point, so it was for his own good."
"And it was really cool how he beat up Mojo to a pulp." The boys gave them looks of understanding and felt sorry for them.
"So, used Mojo, huh? Clever." Right at that moment, the Professor popped back in. Right at the nick of time cause if he showed up any minute earlier they would've been in trouble.
"Yep. Though it wasn't as cool when Bubbles did it." The boys dropped their forks in shock.
"Bubbles…"
"Did…"
"What now?"
"Yeah, Bubbles totally beat the crap out of Mojo right after she took a laser all the way to eleven."
"And she did it all by herself." Bubbles blushed and smiled shyly at all the complements she was getting as the boys gave her impressed looks; her counterpart on the other hand gave her a love-struck look.
"Well Bubbles, didn't know you had it in ya." Brick complemented.
"Remind me not to get on your bad side." Said Butch. Brick and Boomer nodding in agreement. When they finished the rest of their meal, the boys patted their stomachs and gave large belches.
"Eww." Bubbles and Blossom said with a giggle.
"Sorry."
"Pfft. You call that a burp? This is how you do a real burp." Buttercup demonstrated by pounding on her chest and giving a very loud and a very long burp, which, literally, blew the boys away. When she finished, their hairs were blown back and Brick's hat fell off. They had stunned looks on their faces before slowly large grins appeared and they cheered.
"THAT. WAS. AWESOME!" she gave a bow.
"Thank you. Thank you." Her sisters rolled their eyes at their tomboy sister.
"Would it kill you to at least say excuse me?" Blossom exasperated. Buttercup rolled her eyes.
"Fine. Excuse me. There, happy?"
"Yes. Now then lets all clean up and start the dessert." They all agreed and went to clear the table and put away the dishes in the dish washer. The girls told the boys to wait back in the dining room and close their eyes when they finished cleaning up. They did as they were told and covered their eyes. They heard something was placed on the table. "Okay, you can open your eyes now." They did and gasped. On the table was a large, round cake with dark purple fondant, white icing decorating it in the shape of skulls and bones, and black icing lettering. The words said "Welcome Home" and below the words their faces made out edible paper and food coloring and color-coded candles lit. the Ruffs stared at the cake in stunned amazement, then to the Puffs feeling like they didn't deserve this. The girls just smiled.
"Well go one, blow out the candles." Bubbles encouraged happily and the boys smiled, feeling grateful for everything they've done.
When they were about to blow out the candles, the Professor stopped them. "Hold on a minute. Before you do just that," he hurriedly left the room, leaving everyone confused for a moment before he came back and they understood. "we need to capture this moment. Girls, get behind the boys." They did just that and floated above their counterparts. Brick turned the cake around and titled it up a little so it could be seen in the photo. The Professor set the camera on the tripod and put in the timer before hurrying to get behind them. "Alright everyone, say 'Rowdyruff'."
"Rowdyruff!" –Click-.
He walked over to the camera to see how it turned out. "Perfect. Alright boys, go ahead and bow out the candles." The boys took a breath and gently blew out the candles. Everyone clapped and cheered before the Professor took the cake to cut it up.
"Oh, that reminds me we should take a family portrait with all us in it outside of our house and take a picture of our new room together." Said the pink puff.
"Hey yeah, we should totally do that." Said the green puff.
"It wouldn't be right not to have one without the boys." Agreed the blue puff as the Professor came back in with seven slices and served them out.
"Alright, cake time!" the greens said in unison but paused and stared at each other in surprise before they burst out laughing. They all ate their delicious chocolate cakes in comfortable silence; the boys adding a few complements about the cake before they cleaned up once they were done and went up to their room to take a bath and play some games before girls took their bath first while the boys waited outside at their new table to just talk.
"So Butch, still think the Puffs are setting us up into a trap?" Brick inquired with a smug look.
"Yeah, what do you think now, huh?" said Boomer, equally smug and Brick smacked him over the head for repeating his question. "Ow!" he rubbed his head and glared at his brother, but the red ruff just ignored him as waited for a response. Butch was hesitant to answer because he knew they would brag about being right, but he also knew that he couldn't avoid it anyway since they'll just keep on asking and brag about it later. The green ruff sighed.
"Fine, I'll admit it. I was wrong about them…and they're not as bad as I thought they'd be."
"Aand…"
"And they're not setting us up." He grumbled out in annoyance.
"Ha! I told you!" Butch smacked him. "Ow! Why do you guys keep on doing that?"
"Because you're a 'dum-B'." they both laughed at him. Boomer stuck his tongue out at them.
"Well then, since you've been behaving well for the rest of the day, I've decided to shorten your punishment by a week." Brick informed.
Butch did a fist pump. "Yes!"
"Okay boys, the bathroom is all yours." They turned around to see the girls in their nightgowns and they blushed slightly, seeing how cute they looked. They grabbed their pajamas and went into the bathroom to take a bath and brush their teeth. "So BC, what do you think of the boys now?" Blossom inquired smugly.
Buttercup rolled her eyes. "Okay, you were right about them and I was wrong. Happy?" her sisters high-fived. "So what do you guys wanna do when they come out?"
"Oh! How about we have a dance party and a karaoke night!"
"Hey yeah, that sounds really fun. Plus, I've been wanting to see how well the boys sing and also break out that karaoke machine."
Buttercup shrugged. "Why not." Bubbles squealed in delight and ran over to the karaoke machine. She looked through the songs to see what she wanted to sing.
"Oh! Can I go first?" she asked.
"Sure." They replied and she played the song. She waited for her cue and started to sing through the mic. The boys came out of the bathroom in their pjs, but paused and looked over in stunned amazement at Bubbles singing. In Brick's opinion, she sings really well but Blossom's was way more beautiful. Boomer on the other hand had a dreamy look and a dopey smile on his face with hearts popping all around him. They all clapped in for her when she finished and Bubbles giggled and bowed.
"That was…beautiful." Said Boomer.
"Thanks! You boys wanna try?"
"Um…"
"Aw, come on. Please?"
"You said you could sing- "
"So let's hear it." They looked to each other, still a bit hesitant but shrugged. The rest of the night, the kids sang and dance. The girls were quite surprised that the boys could sing and dance pretty well. They were so much fun as they danced and sand duets, even having to compete against each other. The kids were jamming out to the song "Beat it" by Michael Jackson when the Professor came in.
"Kids! Time for bed!"
"Aww!" they said sadly and Butch turned off the stereo.
"Oh, don't be like that, you kids need your sleep and we have another free day until you all go to school."
"Fine." They walked over and climbed into bed; the blues hugging their stuffed animals. He plugged in the nightlight for them and tucked them all in as he gave each of them a kiss on the head. The beamed at this.
"Goodnight, kids."
"Goodnight, Professor." They said back and he turned out the lights, shutting the door on his way out to go back to his lab to finish up some work. The greens were already fast asleep, if their snores were any indication and the blues smiled happily in their sleep as they dreamed. But Blossom was still awake as she thought of the long, emotional but amazing day they all had. She turned her head and stared at her counterpart's peaceful face and smiled.
"You know it's rude to stare when someone is sleeping." Her eyes widened in surprise knowing that she was caught as he turned his body to face her and opened his eyes and smirked in amusement seeing her embarrassed expression.
"Sorry." She whispered, afraid of waking their siblings as she blushed in embarrassment and knowing he could see it with his night vision didn't help.
Brick chuckled. "It's fine, I wasn't asleep yet anyway. So, why were you staring?" he asked slyly but also curious.
"I was…just thinking about today and…how glad you guys are here with us." She answered shyly, which was odd since she's always been so confident. He just smiled at her.
"Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm trying to wrapped my head around it all, trying to make myself believe that it's truly happening to us; it feels so surreal and kind of overwhelming actually."
"Well take it slowly then and before you know it, it'll feel real." He nodded. She smiled, but then she suddenly looked hesitant about something and Brick was just about to ask her what's wrong when before he knew it, she scooted herself closer and snuggled under his chin. Brick blushed but didn't object to it and just slowly wrapped his arms around her.
"Goodnight, Brick." She whispered as she closed her eyes and fell asleep, judging for her soft and even breathing. Brick smiled down at her and held her tighter to his chest. She felt amazing in his arms.
"Goodnight, Blossom." He said softly to her sleeping form and closed his eyes, falling asleep.
