Much thanks to Dia Newman for this fantastic idea that somehow never came to me before /face-palm
"Run, Yellow! It's coming down harder!"
"Aieee!"
What a way to start a first date, Red thought with frustration. Ever since a week ago, when he had finally summoned the god-tier balls to ask (hysterically adorable, sweet, precious, and cute) Yellow on a date. He had let Yellow pick the location, being the gentleman he was, and she, without hesitation, chose a small lake-side clearing in the Viridian Forest, not too far from her home.
Friday came quicker than Red expected, and he soon found himself in front of her door, in casual dress, and holding a pink flower, his manly, confident aura leaving him in the form of a cold sweat.
"Hi, Red!" The door swung open, revealing his precious, blonde angel. Clothed in a pink t-shirt along with a green, ruffly skirt, she was a sight to behold. Olive eyes shining like precious stones and carefully conditioned hair flowing down her back, and to complete the look, a beautiful mini-pearl necklace made her look absolutely radiant.
"G-guh..." Red stuttered stupidly, pulling his collar back to relieve some pressure. "Y-you look good..."
Yellow gasped ever-so-slightly, her face flushing a perfect pink. "Thank you...you don't look t-to bad yourself."
"Thanks!" Red chirped, his voice cracking like a nine-year-old boy. Yellow stifled giggles with her hand as Red laughed nervously. "Arceus, I'm an idiot..."
"I'm ready to go when you are." Red said, backing up a little. He then remembered the flower in his hand, and quickly outstretched his arm, offering it to her.
"Thank y-you..." Yellow stammered, sniffing it lightly before setting it on her kitchen counter quickly.
"C-come on, I have the picnic all set, we don't wanna waste time." Red laughed, leading her outside, around the house, and into the forest. He wanted to get there before the candles melted.
It didn't take long for the the two to reach Red's destination, and sure enough, there was a cute little wood table set up near the water, a basket filled with food on it. A single candle was lit, and it gave off a nice scent as it added a tiny bit of light to the somewhat dim evening. The scenery was marvelous, with multi-colored flowers all around, and the aquatic creatures in the nearby body of water making soft noises, adding to the ambiance.
"W-wow..." Yellow gasped, admiring the spectacle. Red simply smiled and led her to sit, and doing so himself.
"Let me just..." Red starting unpacking the picnic basket, which was filled with many tasty tidbits. Sure, the salad and breadsticks and sandwiches were bought from the store, but that didn't mean anything less to Yellow. Red was confident he was safe with using purchased foods, instead of possibly giving her some kind of virus or whatever from his crappy cooking.
"Red, this is perfect..." Yellow laughed, taking a bite of a sandwich.
"I'm really glad you think so. You picked a really nice spot." Red replied, grinning.
"It's my favorite spot in the whole forest. The lake shines in the sun during the day, and the pokemon here are peaceful and kind."
"Sounds really nice." Red replied, taking a drink of water.
Yellow swallowed before continuing. "You know, Red, I've been...I've been looking forward to something like this for a long time, and I really enjoy spending time with you."
"Arceus, she's adorable, what do I say?!" Red cleared his throat. "I-I'm very glad, Yellow. I enjoy spending time with you, also."
"Why is this getting harder and harder?!" Yellow thought frantically. "T-thanks, Red. I'm glad you enjoy my presence, even though I'm not much to look at..."
"She's so humble, it hurts! I'm such a blockhead, comfort her, damn it! Be a man, Red!" Red slowly took her hand in his. "Don't be so hard on yourself, Yellow. I think you're-"
Red was about to pick one of the many things he loved immensely about his timid angel when a resounding crack of thunder boomed loudly, making Yellow jump and squeak shyly. Suddenly, their candle went out, and the downpour started.
"Arceus-dammit, of all the times!" Red groaned loudly, packing up the picnic supplies as fast as he could. The rain's pace quickened with each passing second, and it quickly started coming down in sheets.
"Just forget it, Red, we can get it later!" Yellow cried, pulling him along the path. "I know a place where we can stay dry!"
Red ran alongside her for a few minutes before reaching a large tree with a plank of wood nailed in horizontally across it about ten feet above. It was more than large enough to cover two people.
"Uncle and I had these rain shelters peppered across the forest." Yellow laughed, wringing her hair out. "They've come in handy more than once."
"I guess so." Red chuckled, sitting on the dry grass below him. He was so disappointed; everything was planned: dinner, conversation, atmosphere, all would lead up to a kiss to seal the night and their love up tight, but no, it had to rain, for the love of all things sacred.
"Damn it all. She deserved way better than this! Why didn't I look at the weather and reschedule?!" Red growled angrily in his head, putting his head into his knees.
"Red, it's okay, this isn't your fault." Yellow said, a bit worried. "I was g-gonna reward him with a kiss for a wonderful date, but it would seem cruel to do that, now...
"No, it's not okay!" Red replied, his voice a bit angrier sounding than it should've. He grabbed Yellow by the shoulder and led her back out into the heavy rain.
Yellow was visibly frightened. "Red, what are you-"
"Do you like me?"
Yellow flushed awkwardly, her bangs beginning to sag from the wetness, partially covering her eyes. "Of c-course, you're my friend."
"No, I mean, do you like me?" Red pressed.
Yellow couldn't help but smile, albeit a bit shyly. "Y-yes..."
"Then that means you trust me, right?" Red's voice faltered a bit, and was a bit hard to understand in the din of the rain.
Yellow looked both ways before answering, somewhat unsure of herself and his intentions. "Y-yes, but what are you planning to-"
Yellow never got to finish, for she was suddenly pulled into the most powerful, lustful, glorious kiss she had ever felt. Her brain spun out of control like a car on black ice as Red wrapped his solid arms around her small back, pulling her closer. The thunder and lightning seemed to chant their names as their tongues frenetically danced for control of the other, the cold rain combining perfectly with the boiling romantic fury of their lip-lock, creating an almost sauna-like effect.
They separated, seeking air once again, but like two vaporeons using acid armor, they continued to hold each other, seemingly melting in the downpour.
"You were my first..." Yellow whispered.
"Mine, too..." Red replied, his voice almost unsure of itself. "But please, let me hold you..."
A few seconds passed. "Red...?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you like me, too?"
Red couldn't help but chuckle. "From your head all the way to your feet, and everything in between, my Yellow."
And as quickly as the rain came, it left...leaving the two lovers to bask in the warmth of the smiling sun.
I don't think I've had this many heart attacks ever while writing SO F*CKING CUTE/ /shot
Anyway, I want you guys to do me a favor. Do you like Soulsilvershipping, reader? It's a very popular ship, as you may or may not know, because of the contrast and cuteness of Lyra/Kotone and Silver and how popular Silver is in the fandom. Now, if you like this ship, please do me a huge favor and check out halfcurehalfdisease's It's Been A While, a very well-written piece that is currently unfinished. It is her first piece, and for first fic standards, she is absolutely demolishing expectations (at least my own, which are pretty boss). It is a supernatural/romance and a bit of comedy and angst, but I'm positive you current and future ss-shippers will love it. So, check it out if you want, it has my recommendation, and if you like it, leave her a nice review, as she'll most surely thank you for it.
