I'm back. I'm currently in a different country for a vacation right now, so updates will be a bit slower.
Summary: A continuation of the fourth flashback in "Strange Magic". Elsa wonders what she should do now that Jack's in her life and wants to be in it.
When they heard a noise coming from Elsa's room, Anna and Kristoff dropped what they were doing and ran upstairs to see all the hubbub.
"Elsa! Are you okay?" Anna asked as she opened the door to find her sister being hugged by an unfamiliar man.
"Who's that guy?" Kristoff pointed at Jack.
Elsa was surprised that Kristoff and Anna could see Jack, even more so than Jack himself.
"Anna. Kristoff. You can see him, too?"
Anna had a big question mark over her head, "Wait, what?"
Jack let go of Elsa for a while, "I guess I should explain. If people believe in me, they can see me."
"What I'm I seeing exactly?"
"I'm Jack Frost. Nice to meet you, Anna," Jack said as he extended his hand to Anna. Anna shook his hand. It felt cold.
"Sorry, I'm not exactly the warmest person around," the winter spirit cracked a joke.
Anna simply smiled, "Don't worry, it's not a problem. It's just nice to finally meet you."
"Whoa. Jack Frost, the winter spirit himself. It's like a fantasy," Kristoff marveled.
"It's no fantasy, Kristoff." Jack grinned, "I'm real as they come."
A wild thought appeared in Anna's head. For some strange reason, she started pushing out the two young men out of Elsa's room with a big smile on her face.
"Well, now that you two guys are on the road to bro-hood, I'm going to have some girl talk with Elsa. Hope you don't mind."
"Uh, okay baby. Jack and I will just hang out outside," Kristoff gave an inquisitive look.
"We'll call you back later," Anna assured as she made the boys exit the room.
Jack and Kristoff were now outside the room and chatting.
"So, Kristoff. You like ice?"
"Are you kidding? Ice is my life, Jack," Kristoff answered, "I work as the royal ice deliverer. With a cool sleigh."
Jack's eyes widened, "I wanna look at the sleigh."
"Well then, let's go, bro."
The two guys ran outside to see the sleigh.
Meanwhile in Elsa's room, Anna was smiling with teeth. Elsa had a confused look on her face.
"What's with the weird smiling, Anna?" Elsa chuckled.
"Can you believe it? Jack Frost is real! That means if he's real, maybe the rest of them are real."
"I've gotta ask him that first. In fact, I have so many questions for him."
Elsa looked away for a while and blushed a little. Anna was looking her way.
"Are you okay, Elsa?" the younger sister questioned.
Elsa turned her head, "Huh? Oh. Yeah, don't worry about me."
"Okay—Are you blushing?" Anna noticed.
"What?" Elsa shook her head, "No, I wasn't! I was just….just…"
Anna realized what was going on. She smirked a cunning smirk.
"Elsa, this may seem sudden, but…do you like Jack Frost?"
The young queen blushed even harder and furrowed her eyebrows.
"Wha—, wha—," said Elsa, followed by some unintelligible babbling.
"I knew it!" Anna jumped, "You have a thing for guy who we thought was a legend for years, yet still believed in!"
"Anna, I just met the guy for the very first time! That's the farthest thing from my mind!" Elsa tried to insist. Anna didn't seem to buy it.
Over outside, Jack and Kristoff were looking at the sleigh. Kristoff had just introduced Sven to Jack, who gave him a pat on the head.
"There it is, Jack," Kristoff showed him.
Jack whistled a bit and felt the exterior, "Man, it looks just as cool as North's sleigh, although there's no rockets here."
"Rockets? And who is North?" Kristoff asked.
"North is Santa Claus."
"Oh, now I remember."
"And yeah, he uses rockets now. Though sometimes, he still uses the flying reindeer if he wants to save on fuel."
"Hm. At least Santa's environmentally conscious."
Out of nowhere, a cute little white figure walked up to Kristoff and his new friend.
"Hi, Kristoff!" he greeted cheerfully, "Who's that guy?" he pointed to Jack.
"Hey, Olaf. This is Jack Frost."
"Hi," Jack smiled.
Olaf's jaw dropped, "Hold on, you're Jack Frost? The Jack Frost? From the book Elsa read me once?"
"Yes, I am," Jack nodded.
"Well, hello. I'm Olaf and I like warm hugs!"
"Would you like a hug now?" Jack grinned.
"Yes, I would!" Olaf enthusiastically nodded, to which Jack responded with a hug.
Back at Elsa's room, Anna was still teasing her sister about Jack.
"Come on, Elsa. He's cute and you know it!"
"Well, yeah. That's true. But…"
Anna smirked again while Elsa turned tomato red while admitting it.
"Okay, maybe I think he's cute. But that shouldn't stand for anything. I've barely known him for a day and you've already started shipping him with me."
"Are you saying it's impossible for you to fall in love?"
Elsa shook her head, "Well, no. I mean, if the right guy came along, I'd probably consider it. And besides, I'm way too preoccupied with royal duties to be dating. At least for now."
"So, if you weren't so busy, you'll date?'
"Yeah, you can say that."
"So, you'll give Jack a chance?"
Elsa got flustered again, "Come on, Anna!"
"Why not? He looks like a nice guy, like the book said. But the only way to know that for sure is if you get to know him."
"You are not setting us up on a date," a blunt Elsa said.
"Okay, okay. If you won't date him, can you at least be friends with him?"
"Friends?"
Anna nodded, "Yeah. You've got to start letting people into your life, Elsa. This could be good for you. If Jack came here to see you, that could mean something."
The young queen was a little hesitant about the decision. More than anything, even if she didn't know, she wanted friends. But between the kingdom and making up for lost time with her sister, she didn't have much free time.
"I don't know…I mean, what about you? I have thirteen years of neglect to make up for."
"Elsa, I love you. Part of loving someone is doing something that you think is best for them. You being friends with Jack Frost will not make you any less of my big sister. Friendship is just as important as family too, you know."
Elsa wanted to say something, but Anna was right.
"You're right, Anna. Jack must be here for a reason."
"Do you want me to call him back here?"
"Yes, please," Elsa smiled and nodded.
"So, what brought you to Arendelle, Jack?" Kristoff asked while he, Jack, and Olaf were hanging out by the sleigh.
"I've been here a couple of times when Elsa and Anna were kids. As a Guardian, I watched over them even after Elsa accidentally froze Anna, wherein after I made it snow a lot every winter so that they could be together again.. Up to this day, I feel that I could have done something about it and I let Elsa see me for the first time ever today so that I'll know if there's anything I can do."
"You sound like you really do care," Olaf noted.
"I do. I never really got to hang out with Elsa when she was a kid because I was never entirely sure if she knew I was real. But now that I know that she knows I'm real, then I guess we could have something."
Almost immediately, Anna was now outside and went up to the winter spirit.
"Elsa wants to see you now."
"Really?"
"Yeah, she's waiting for you."
"Okay. Kristoff, Olaf," he faced them, "Let's hang out later, all right?"
"All right," Kristoff and Olaf answered in unison.
A few minutes later, Jack came back up to Elsa's room and found her sitting on her bed.
"You wanted to see me, Elsa?" he asked.
"Yes, I do. Please sit down next to me," the young queen said as she patted the spot next to her.
"Okay," Jack proceeded to sit down, "So, Anna told me you wanted to tell me something…"
"Yes, I do," Elsa confirmed, "I know you suddenly show up out of the blue and tell me you're my friend. And I try to attack you while that happens."
"Oh yeah, I was wondering about that."
"Listen, Jack. I didn't mean to do that. I was just really surprised to see you and I had to act quickly."
"It's okay, Elsa," the young man reassured, "I admit that showing up out of the blue was a little stupid on my part, but had I known that you get startled easily, I probably would've knocked on your door."
The blonde girl playfully punched him on the arm.
"Ow! What was that for?"
"Idiot, I don't get startled easily," Elsa tried to deny.
"Right, right."
"Anyway, back to my point. Anna was right when she said friendship is just as important as family. I want to be friends with you, Jack Frost. I don't know why exactly, I just have this feeling in my gut that it's a good thing. I barely know you, but I think you're a good person and I think you will be a great friend to me."
"Well, I'm flattered. Your gut must have a good thing going there."
"Yeah," she smiled, "I guess it does."
"Just so you know, once you're friends with me, you're friends with me forever. Jack Frost is always loyal to his friends, no matter the highs or lows. Though I must warn you, I play jokes on my friends, too. "
"That's a risk I'm willing to take," Elsa said bluntly.
"Great. So what do you want to do? You know, now that we're friends?"
"Do you wanna build a snowman, Jack?"
"Hell yeah, I would."
Little did Elsa know that her world would be different from this point on.
Author's note
- Not really my best work, but I've been putting this off for a while. I might probably fix this story some other time.
- Plus, I'm a bit exhausted today, so I'll probably rest up for a while.
