A/N: Pretty short chapter, but a long one is coming next :)
"We're pretty…uh… high up, aren't we, Tony?" Steve asked nervously, looking out the window and down at the view from the helicopter.
"Relax, Steve, nothing's gonna happen," the billionaire said for what felt like the tenth time. He put his arm around his husband, so Steve would relax a little. It helped. Mildly.
Peter looked out the window too, hands pressed against the glass as he stared out in wonder. "Isn't he the most adorable thing ever?" Natasha asked, grinning. "I thought I was," Clint said in mock offense, and Natasha shot him a dirty look.
"These mountains are magnificent," Bruce said, "This is a nice change from the city. I can really relax here!" Tony smirked. "Yeah, Bruce, I don't think it would really matter if you hulked out here, the only things you would hurt are the flowers." "You might change the direction of the waves too, though, if you sneeze," joked Clint.
"Oh yeah, remember that time when Bruce hulked when he got sick? The weather network was calling it an extreme natural abomination, when you nearly blew over the empire state!" Bruce blushed. "It was a bad cold."
Meanwhile, Loki was sitting at the back, arms crossed. "Brother, look at this awe-inspiring view!" Thor exclaimed, slapping Loki on the back. "AGH nottherenottherenotthere, you OAF!" Thor cringed. "Sorry. Your burn of the sun had slipped my mind. But behold the spectacle, Loki!" "I do not wish to gawk at vast expanses of grass and water, Thor, it does not interest me in the slightest." Thor frowned. "Why must you shun such beauty?"
Loki rolled his eyes. "I wonder why you haven't joined the Royal Shakespeare Company yet." "Shakespeare? I do not understand-" "I do!" Steve cut in, smiling widely, "I…I understood that reference," he said, looking around. "Yes, I'm pretty sure everyone knows who he is, except for Thor," Natasha said, and Tony patted him on the shoulder. "Nice try though, babe."
The helicopter landed at the top of a particularly high mountain, and they spent the day walking around the beautiful area and taking lots of pictures with Peter.
"Well guys- I'm spent," Tony said at the end of the day, and they went back to the hotel.
"I'm kind of sad that we're leaving," Natasha admitted, "I mean, it was a nice break from SHIELD." Clint nodded. "I hear ya on that. Plus, Hawaii was freakin' awesome! We've got to come back!" Steve smiled. "Maybe when Peter's a little older, we'll all come back and see if he remembers this trip."
"Well, there's no doubt he'll remember his Uncle Loki's sunburn," Bruce pointed out, trying to hide his smile as Loki bared his teeth. "Yeah, I doubt any of us will forget," Tony chuckled. Loki scowled at them. "You have no idea how painful this much exposure is for a native Jotun."
That night, Steve and Tony, when they were sure Peter was asleep, sat out on their balcony together and watched a tropical rainstorm rage. It was beautiful, and surprisingly warm. They kissed, and snuggled under a blanket, and ended up falling asleep out there.
The next morning, they all flew back home to New York, and arrived with a welcome home note from Fury.
"Avengers- situation in Rawanda. Report to my office. Oh yeah, and I hope you had a good trip and all that."
"Gee, I can feel Fury's warmth and genuine compassion emanating from this," Natasha deadpanned, and they all sighed as they dropped their stuff, vowing to unpack after they had finished.
They still didn't trust Peter with Loki, so they brought him to SHIELD so that Coulson could babysit, much to the delight of the agent to finally get acquainted with the kid.
And, well, his excitement to be taking care of Captain America's kid.
