Chapter 10

Thirteen Years Later…

"Ryan you have all these guests here to see you are you going to leave them waiting?" Lucas calls to his son. "Sorry dad I was finishing packing some things." Ryan breathed. Ryan walks out on the patio and smiles at his family and friends he walks to the microphone. "Hi guys thanks for coming to my graduation party. I thought I would start with a joke but I learned from my Aunt Haley's mistakes." He grins. Haley glares at him. "Hey dad where's mom?" He asked. Lucas told his son to wait a moment while he searches for Peyton.

"Hey wifey you gonna sit up here and miss out on our son's graduation party?" He asks the blonde. "It's not fair he's my baby boy and he can't just leave me and go to college it's too soon!" She pouts. "I understand but he needs to learn to run on his own we taught him what we could so lets go down and hear his speech and find out where he decided to go to college since it's such a big secret." He smiled as he walked over to kiss his wife.

"Mommy daddy are you gonna kiss all day?" Two voices rang out. "No we're coming girls we'll be down in a minute." Lucas and Peyton said in unison. The five year olds giggled as they ran down the hall. Peyton got pregnant five years ago and gave birth to twin girls Elizabeth Brooke and Anna Haley Scott and they were miracle babies for the blondes. "You Lizzie is just like Brooke." Lucas smiled. "I guess it's perfect her middle name is Brooke then." Peyton smiled. A cry caught the blonde couple's attention. "Aww okay Keith mommy and daddy are here." Peyton smiled at her one year old son Keith Nathan Scott. The one year old was a welcomed surprise and they were happy to have another son. Peyton carried baby Keith outside to join the rest of the crowd. Peyton smiles at her eldest son and he continues. "Now that everybody is here." He pulls out a paper. " Shakespeare wrote 'It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.' I believe this is true for not only me but all of us here today. If i've learned one thing from my parents is that it's never too late to be great. Whether it be in yourself or for family and friends or in a relationship." He smiles at his parents. "I realized that my parents have shaped me into the young man I am today and whether you are ready for it or not the world will be waiting for you one day and either you make it great or parish by falling short. I intend to make not only my family proud but myself as well. Now i'd like to address some people individually if that's okay." He smiled everyone agreed.

"First Uncle Nate Thanks for helping my game so much you have made me into a great player and off court helping me with great advice I appreciate it." He said. "You're welcome anything for my favorite nephew." Nate smiled. "Aunt Haley thanks for not only being my rockstar aunt but my rocking tutor when i was lost with school you made things so much clearer and I love you for it even though at times it annoyed me you never let me give up." He announced. Haley had tears in her eyes as she hugged her husband as her nephew said such sweet things about them. She smiled as she picked up her daughter Hannah. "I am happy to help you Ryan you're a special kid and i'm glad you learned from me." Haley light up. "Aunt Brooke and Uncle Julian. Well Uncle Julian thanks for teaching me about hollywood magic and makinging me see that you can be different and still accepted. Aunt Brooke thanks for being there for me and my mom when we didn't have anybody you made me believe again at such a young age. Also for adopting Sophie because she is the love of my life." He smiled at the brunette standing next to her parents. Brooke and Julian adopted Sophie when she was seven two years after having Leyla and Ryan and Sophie started dating as freshman and soon were inseparable. Then three years ago Brooke and Julian brought Aiden Tyler Baker into the world and they were happy with the three kids. "Well you're a good kid Ryan you deserve happiness." Julian grinned. "Um besides the confession of love to my 18 year old daughter I love you Ryan and you are going to do great in life." Brooke smiled. "I LOVE YOU TOO RYAN BRICE SCOTT!" Sophie screamed. Her parents started to laugh. Ryan blew Sophie a kiss and continued. "To my cousin Jamie, We are best friends but we are so much more because we are family and we've gotten through alot together and i am so glad I got to look up to you and I am sorry I wiped you're scoring title off Whitey's gym wall this year." Ryan teased playfully. "Dude, we will always be family I love you like a brother and at one time I remember we pretended to be and by the way just because you beat my scoring title doesn't make you better." Jamie smiled, "That's okay us Tar Heels are scheduled to kick some Blue Devil butt December 4th." Ryan smiled. "What? You're going to UNC?" Lucas said shocked. Ryan nodded. "You didn't think I could be too far from my family did you?" Ryan laughed. "YAY! My baby's close to home!" Peyton hollered. Everyone began to laugh. "To my dad, I guess you already know, you taught me to be a man and taught me about girls and the birds and the bees but you taught me something more valuable you taught me to embrace my talent. So I am going to UNC on a basketball scholarship and studying business and photography." He announced. "That's great Ry I want to to follow your dreams that's what Keith taught me and it's only right for me to pass his wisdom onto you buddy." Lucas smiled. "Finally to my mother, where do I begin? You gave me life and gave the best you could and even though at the start it was hard for us you made me a promise that will be with me always. You told once that it was me and you forever and mom for 5 years it was just us but then we had this family a big family and they loved us unconditionally. Mom I love you so much you are the most amazing and strongest women I know you put up with a teenaged me and that was tough and when life took from you, you managed to get through it with such grace and I am happy for you and I have a surprise for you." Ryan said. He lifted up his sleeve and showed the crowd a tattoo and it was an angel and had the name Blake Andrew Scott. Peyton smiled and began to cry. "I'd never forget my first brother mom and he will always be with me and us forever." Ryan smiled as a few tears slid down his cheeks. " My baby… I love you Ry so much I should kill you for the tattoo but you are such a good boy for doing it that I can see how big your heart his. Ryan I made you that promise because it's true I will always be here for you no matter what. It's hard to think that you've grown up and you aren't my little boy anymore but truthfully you will always be my baby boy I will always be your mother and you will never lose me." Peyton choked on her words as she spoke through her tears. Ryan walked off the patio to hug his mother. Ryan embraced his mother tightly and for a moment he remembered being five again and he smiled at his life because he know he had a good life.

Ryan takes Sophie on the patio with him and says he has another announcement. He turns to Sophie and gets down on one knee and pulls out a ring. Everyone gasps! "Sophie Kay Baker we've been together 4 years and I can't see my life without you and tomorrow we will be starting our next chapter together in college and I am so happy you decided to join me at UNC and I am asking you to take a Final journey with me and agree to be my wife." Ryan said. Sophie begins to cry and nods. "Yes Ryan I will." She laughs. Ryan kissed her and picks her up and spins her around. They walk off and Peyton Lucas Brooke Julian Nate and Haley crowd the newly engaged teens. "Daddy you okay with this?" Sophie asks sweetly. Julian grins. "Sophie baby, do you think I would ask you to marry me without your father's permission?" Ryan asked. Sophie hugs Julian and thanked him. "You knew about this?" Brooke slapped his arm lightly. "Yeah.. uh surprise?" Julian smiles. "Mom you okay with this?" Ryan shuffles his feet. "You are my baby boy and I love you and I love Sophie so if this is what you want then I support you 100% Ry and no matter what I will be here every step of the way." Peyton swarmed her son in a loving hug. "Don't worry guys we're having a long engagement we're getting married after we graduate college so please take a breather." Sophie smiled at her mother and Lucas who seemed to be taking it the hardest. The family laughed and continued to celebrate. Peyton took a look at her family and friends and a thought came across her mind. 'Family isn't just about being related its loyalty and the relationships you create with people that tie you together and that's Family Ties.

This is the end of my story... you know what they say every good story has it's ending right? Well I hope you truly enjoyed it and i'm glad you came on this writing journey with me.
