Hey guys, here is pt.3 in the Tender series. I really hope you guys like it. I was listening to Ed Sheeran and this popped into my head. Also this is an AU. Enjoy!

She looked out the window at the blue sky. The color of her hair he would say. She shook her head at that. She watched as the people down below mingled with each other, some smiling, some sad.

She listened to the familiar melody that only came once a year. Usually she would sing happily along, but this year's events didn't bring that light into her eyes. She suppose that since it is Christmas that by some miracle she would get better. That was too Hollywood: they give false hope to some people thinking they could just get better just like that. She believed it was a process not a blink of an eye sort of thing.

Snow started falling, calling her to come outside. Her hands clenched into fists. Her doctors told her she wasn't allowed outside because of her health. She has to stay in a box called a room, nothing really belonged to her. Mostly gifts people gave to her. 'Get Well Soon!','Hope you feel better!'

She only had a couple of things here and there that were her own. Every week when her mother came to visit, she always brought a fresh new stack of books with her. Levy loved her mother for knowing she couldn't live without her love for reading. Since she literally had nothing to do at the hospital she always read. And read. And read. One would think she would go crazy reading too much, of course that was the people who hardly knew her.

"Levy?" She turned toward the door. Her mother came in with a new stack of books. She smiled slightly at her.

"What are you doing out of bed?! You could catch a cold! Come back to bed sweetie." Mrs. McGarden gently coaxed her daughter back towards the mattress. Levy slowly lifted herself up, her mother reached out but Levy gave her a look and she backed off slightly. She breath grew ragged and sweat appeared lightly on her forehead. She took deep breaths as she continued to painfully lift herself off the wheelchair. Her mother watched as her daughters limbs shook from the weight of her own body.

Levy's brow drew down in pure concentration, her hand rested on the fabric. She brought one of her legs up and with all her might tried to bring it up to the same level as her hand. Her leg started shaking uncontrollably while her other was getting wobbly. She was beyond exhausted now, she thought she could do this.

Tears welled into her eyes at how helpless she felt. When did it come to this?

"Levy..." She let her mom help her the rest of the way into bed then broke out into sobs..

Levy pretended she went to sleep , so she wouldn't look at her mom's face. Her mom left without saying a word when she thought she was asleep. Her eyes shot open when the door closed. She looked up at the ceiling. Tomorrow was Christmas Day. Her family was going to come since she couldn't leave the room. It hurt knowing she wouldn't be waking up in her bed, tearing up the wrapping on presents under the Christmas tree. Christmas dinner was her favorite part. Their relatives would come to the house and they would celebrate together. Give gifts, sing carols, eat dinner then sometimes watch a movie together. How would it be this year?

[][]

"Merry Christmas Levy-chan!"

"M...m.."

"You don't have to strain you voice Levy. I hope it doesn't suck that much in the hospital. Anyways, Natsu says hello and so does Erza and Gray. Merry Christmas!"

All that was left was the dial tone ringing in her ear.

"M... .r.r.y..y ..Ch..r..i-i..st..m..a..s.s."

She wishes she could be with her friends right now or someone. It feels too lonely being with her self. Someone please. She needs someone to stay with her today. It sounds selfish and needy, but she doesn't care. She needs to be surrounded by people. She needs him.

Her shoulders shook as she felt tears come to her eyes. She hasn't seen him in a couple of weeks, she knew that there was no chance he was coming in time for Christmas.

She remembers how they first met. She could never forget that day.

Her shoulders shook as she felt tears come to her eyes. She hasn't seen him in a couple of weeks, she knew that there was no chance he was coming in time for Christmas.

She remembers how they first met. She could never forget that day.

She was exhausted from a day at school, so she came to her favorite cafe. The steam from her cup tickled her nose as the delicious scent of tea filled her sun was setting outside, closing the day. She should be heading home right now,but she can't pass up the opportunity of seeing were various bands that would come to play at the cafe. His was one of them. At first he seemed out of place with piercings and scowl. She giggled at how villian like he looked in a cafe full of lively like customers.

The band was called Elemental. Strange name. Everyone seemed skeptical of them since he was the lead singer. The group had everyone's attention and the anticipation was unbearable. Once the first notes were played and his voice rang out through the cafe, she was captivated. She wanted to talk to him, maybe even congratulate him. Her shy nature prevented her, so she just observed. Her excuse coming was that she needed her usual dosage of woud come and watch him and his band. Just watching them... him... made her feel something.

One night , she was looking outside at the setting sun and enjoying a cup of tea when she heard the scraping of the turned to the figure and her eyes widened.

It was him.

He stared at her and she swears her heart was beating fast.

Say something, she thought but her lips wouldnt't just satthere in silence, she needed to say something. A light bulb appeared. She got one of the napkins and took out a pen from her hurriedly wrote something on it then handed it to him. He looked confused until she gestured to the writing on the crumpled napkin.

'Hi I'm Levy.'

He smiled at her.

That was just a start. For the next hour they wrote on napkins getting to know each other. When it came to the end of the night for her, she wrote her number on the napkin and politely excused her self. The drive home gave her a mixture of feelings that night, she finally communicated to him. She still wishes to hear his voice though. A thought popped into her head. He never wrote his name. She felt a vibration in her pocket.

Gajeel Redfox.

How had he had known?

They went on a couple of dates after that. She finally got to hear his voice and it was better than she imagined. It was the day after their third date when she got the news. Weeks ago, she body was doing the strangest things. At school she tripped in the hallway but her friend caught her before she got hurt. She blamed on it being slippery. The day after she trip walking home and fell on her chin. Her chin got really bruised and her father was getting concerned. He asked if she hurt her hands ,but they were fine. He took her to the doctor anyway. Her jaw was fine but then was referred to another for different tests. She had her do simple things that seemed kind of silly to Levy but didn't complain. When she went home she wondered what was the look in the doctor's eyes.

Her whole world came crashing down.

Spinocerebellar Ataxia.

She was sick. This wasn't cancer or a heart disease. Those would've been better. No she had spinocerebellar ataxia. A disease that had to do with the nerves. Soon her walking, her speech, and writing would no longer be possible. One day she is going to end up like a vegetable.

She didn't speak to Gajeel for a week. He kept on calling her and texting. He even came to her house once.

She finally on Sunday told him. He didn't say anything at first. The wheels were turning in his head she knew that. Rejection would be the worst thing. He still didn't say anything, tears filled her eyes. He was going to break up with her wasn't he?

"I understand if this is too much for you. You didn't sign up for this. I mean if you want to end things I wouldn..."

He pulled her into a hug and buried his face into her hair.

"G..Gajeel?"

"You are still gonna be you, shrimp. Ta hell with the disease, I like you with or with out it."

Not long after, Elemental was piquing interest. Before long they were opening up in concerts. She went to every single one. Unfortunately, as the days went by her disease progressed more and more. She tried to brave it as much as she could, but there was always something that reminded her that she was sick. Her hand started shaking when she wrote, when she walked she had to take slower steps. There were times she dropped things too, alot.

Spinocerebellar Ataxia was cruel. It didn't show mercy on you. If you were chosen you were chosen, with no treatment, but with pain.

If Gajeel noticed he didn't say anything. In fact he made her forget she was sick. She felt normal with no worries. He made her feel alive.

' Hello Everyone listening in on the radio tonight. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and is looking forward to this New Year. The night is still young and if you have song then ring us here at the station...'

She zoned out the rest of the host's words not really caring. Who was she kidding? The only people that would really spend christmas with her is the nurses and her stupid disease. Why? Why?! If she didn't have this stupid disease she could be with her friends, her family. It has been a year since she had it and already she can't walk. Walking was something that came easy to her, now it is something she dreams of doing. What she liked most about walking was that she and Gajeel would take walks on their dates.

Ever since she was diagnosed her speech has gone down hill. Her doctor said this would happen that it would be a matter of time before she completely lost her voice. Fresh tears escaped her eyes, is this really the life she will have? Can this all just be a horrible dream instead?

She felt a vibration in her hand. She was still holding her held the phone shakingly to her ear.

"Shrimp."

She smiled.

"Are you listening to the radio? There is something I want you to listen to."

"We are here with Gajeel Redfox, the lead singer of the band Elemental. He wants us to release his new single 'Talking out Loud'. Now from what I listen from, this song is different from what your band usually plays am I right?"

"Yes, this song is special. It is something personal I wrote."

"Am I sensing maybe a special someone?"

Gajeel chuckled on the radio.

"She is more than that. She is the strongest person I know, I admire how she faces the difficulties everyday. This song is for her. The only one I will ever love. Merry christm.."

"Merry Christmas Levy."The voice said in the phone.

"Well lets get a taste of this song. Here is Elemental's newest song 'Thinking Out Loud'"

She listened to the voice on the radio. She will always love that sound. As he continued singing his heart out, tears streamed down her face as she listened to the lyrics. He was singing this to her. It was meant for her. She felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around and there he the phone in his hand and that smirk that she came to love on his face. She heard the dial tone in her ear. she turned it off.

He cupped her cheeks.

"Gihi."

He sat on the bed right next to her. He brought her face closer to his. Oh how she wishes she could say something right now that wouldn't come out a stutter. She felt his breath on hers. This was it. She reached her arm up,even though it was shaking, to his shirt. She tried with all her might and tugged him closer. Their lips met clumsily, but she didn't care she was in heaven.

He pulled her a little closer to where their chests were touching. Her arm was aching but she didn't care. She reached her hand to his head and started running her fingers throught his hair. Their lips parted for air both breathing heavily.

"I love you Levy."

"I..I..I...Lo...o.o.v..v..vvv.e..ee...e ..y...yo...u...t..o..oo."

His face showed no annoyance at her stuttering instead it showed great joy.

"Gihi."
