Ok, so I have decided to do an early update for you all. I've written so far ahead in my notebook that I feel like you shouldn't have to wait until every Saturday now for an update. I will update the chapters every couple of days now for you all who are reading this story. There will be another chapter update tomorrow as well before I go to every couple of days to update the story. Ok, now moving onto information about this chapter. It takes place after they rescued Calypso from the Animal holding camp and it starts off with Elphaba taking care of an injury back at the Animal Compound. She then bumps into Glinda but will the two of them reconcile or is their relationship beyond repair? You will have to read and find out.
Chapter 10
Elphaba is inspecting the stitching on her right shoulder. For limited medical supplies the Animal Resistance doctor did a good job patching up her superficial wound she received from the bullet grazing her flesh. She is just thankful that's all the bullet did and didn't injure her worse. She turns her gaze from the wound towards a desk, where multiple, tiny, colored bottles filled with different type of oil. The green woman reaches over to grab a blue tinted bottle but pauses a few inches from it to stare at it. These bottles weren't here when she first arrived to this room in the Animal Resistance Compound. Her eyes shift to the right then back towards the bottle in thought. This must have been Glinda's doing. Maybe she is trying to get back into her good graces by getting her the necessary oils for her skin. Her fingers pull away from the bottle with a sigh. She will put on the oil later. Elphaba grabs the fresh bandage from her lap and starts to wrap it around the stitches to protect them. As she wraps it up she thinks about the very long journey back to the Animal Resistance Glinda has been holed up apparently. The green woman hung way back from the group, she couldn't stand being so close to the woman she loves with all her heart. The same woman who Elphaba thought was dead the entire time just happened to be alive. It threw her in a loop. The whirlwind of all the different emotions she was having at the time left her heart aching and her head spinning. Fiyero didn't seem to have as much conflict in him as she did about Glinda being alive. He just seemed happy to have his old friend back.
Elphaba finishes wrapping up her shoulder and puts her hands on her legs. She guess she could actually explore this compound. She didn't bother when she first arrived here. The raven haired beauty just wanted a room to get away from Glinda to gather her thoughts and feelings. She pushes off the bed with a grunt and fixes the black wife beater she has on. Maybe she can find Silver so he can give her the grand tour. From what she has seen the Wolf seems like a decent Animal. Elphaba walks to the door and opens it up before walking out into the hallway. She tucks her hair behind her ear before walking off. Her fingers trail behind her on the cool wall. She is enjoying the feeling the grooves and bumps under her fingertips. It is oddly soothing.
"Of all the stupid and dangerous things to do, Glinda!"
" What did you expect me to do, Malky?"
Elphaba stops towards the end of the hall way at hearing Glinda with her Cat? The same Malky she has had in apartment all these years! She quiets her footsteps and gets closer towards the edge of the wall before peeking out just enough to see Glinda's back facing to her. Her left hand is on her hip while her right arm back in its sling. Brown eyes narrow in thought of Malky being a spy for the good witch. Is that how she knew where she lived?
'Unbelievable' Elphaba thought bitterly to herself. All this time Glinda knew and did nothing to make contact with her.
"You should have stayed behind while we sent out capable Animals who've done those types of situation. I didn't save your ass to have you get yourself killed again because she was in trouble." Malky hisses back with his tail flicking back and forth in anger. Glinda's back straightens in an instant to which Elphaba can picture the blonde's jaw tightening up while her teeth start to grind as she is getting pissed at hearing this statement. The green woman looks down with her eyes moving back and forth in thought. Glinda must have been barely hanging on for life when Elphaba was forced to leave her body but Malky managed to save her. Did she get too mad at the blonde before hearing her story? The green woman looks up at hearing Glinda speaking up.
"There wasn't enough time to gather the necessary Animals to do that. If I had to die to make sure she was safe I was not going to hesitate. If you ever found true love, you little fur ball. You would understand my actions." The good witch strains to keep her voice calm and even but Elphaba can hear the tension ready to snap at any second. Her eyebrows twitch at hearing Glinda call her true love. She still feels that way about her? There is an annoyed growl from Malky.
"Don't let love blind yourself to the big picture! The Wizard is still in power and if you die then everything you've worked for will go down the drain. Get your head on straight." The cat growls before Elphaba hears the tiny, pitter pater of paws slowly fading away. Glinda gives a sniffle and wipes away the tears from her face. She won't let that fuzz ball get to her.
"Stupid Cat." She whispers before composing herself. She turns on her heels and walks down the hallway before turning down the way where Elphaba has been listening to the conversation. The green woman tries to back up to make it not obvious she wasn't listening in when she truly was. The green woman was too slow in backing up and the two women bumped right into each other. Glinda stumbles back with a hiss of pain and holds her right arm while Elphaba quickly regains her balance.
"I'm so sor-Elphie." Glinda says breathlessly when she sees that it's her former lover she bumped into. The raven haired beauty swallows slightly at the close proximity she is to her. She inhales and can smell the Gilikin Rose permeating off of Glinda's body. Her heart aches because she wants to be close to her again. Her pride won't let her forgive so easily and with an exhale Elphaba looks away. The good witch swallows hard at this; clearly the green woman is still mad at her.
"I'm sorry for bumping into you, excuse me." Glinda apologizes in a cracked voice. She walks past Elphaba and the green woman can see the tears glistening in the blue eyes. She reaches out to the retreating figure with tears pushing up in her own eyes. The green hand turns into a fist before it drops to her side. She should go after her and finally make up with Glinda but her feet are firmly planted on the ground. Elphaba frowns and turns to get away but stops at seeing Silver standing before her.
"Uh…Hi?" She says with uneasiness. She hopes that he just didn't the transition between her and Glinda but with her luck he did. The Wolf blinks sympathetically to her before motioning her to follow him with his tail. The raven haired beauty nods her head and walks towards him. Silver walks in step with her while the two of them walk the halls of the Animal Resistance Compound.
"How is your arm?" He starts off casually, Elphaba looks to her bandage then down to the Wolf with a soft smile.
"It feels good. Your doctor did a good job patching me up." She answers as she keeps on walking with him. Silver smiles at hearing this but his eyes turn serious as he wants to head this conversation towards Glinda. He feels like if he didn't say his piece it would be a disservice to his friendship with Glinda.
"Miss Elphaba, about Glinda…"
The green woman slows down her step at hearing the blonde's name and she knows where this is headed. Personally she really doesn't want to talk about this right now but she has a feeling he won't give up so easily.
"What about her?" Elphaba questions while folding her arms across her chest and shifts her weight to her left leg. This she has to hear. Silver sits down and puts his paw to his mouth to clear his throat. He has been preparing the speech since she has come to the compound.
"I may not have known Glinda as long as you have but I never seen a person so in love that they risk their lives for the person they love. We managed to save her from near death but the moment she has been awake all she thought and focused on was you. She didn't care about her recovering body she just cared about was making sure you were safe. It killed her not being able to tell you she was alive every day." Silver starts his speech with his passion in his voice. He knows the two witches are meant to be together and he won't it slip by them. Elphaba's throat tightens up at hearing what Glinda has been doing here at the compound. The green woman looks to the side while biting her bottom lip. The Wolf inhales and looks at her to continue speaking.
"Elphaba, I lost my mate to the Wizard years ago and I'm pretty sure I will never see her again. You, though, still have this chance to be with your love. Don't waste it. Take her and never let her go again. She still loves you and I know you love her. Please, don't let her slip through your fingers. You can lose her permanently." He finishes his speech before cocking his head to the side expectantly. He has heard that she is hard headed and stubborn but he hopes what he has said has gotten through to her. Elphaba puts a hand under her chin in thought. Can she forgive and move on from all this?
"Where is she?" She asks after a couple of minutes of silence. Silver lifts up his tail and points behind her. He strategically walked her near the door that leads where the blonde is at. He knows that Glinda would be outside and under favorite tree, thinking about what goes through her mind.
"She'll be under a tree that is near by the Compound." The Wolf informs the raven haired beauty. She nods her head in understanding before giving a soft smile towards him.
"Thank you."
Silver winks at her before gesturing with his paw to tell her to get moving. Elphaba turns her head towards the door before running off.
Glinda is standing in the shade of her favorite thinking tree. She likes this spot because it's quiet from the chatter and noises that are in side of the compound plus this is the best tree to enjoy the cool breeze that comes with the gust of the wind. She closes her eyes when one of those breezes caresses her face. It helps push away the stress she has on her shoulders and a tiny smile appears on her face. She is taken back to those days under the apple tree on her parents' estate with Elphaba by her side.
"Glinda?"
The good witch snaps open her eyes at hearing the husky voice from behind her. Her heart is pounding in her chest as she doesn't dare turn around. A part of her is scared that if they start talking it will just lead to more heartbreak. Glinda feels a warm hand gently touch her left shoulder.
"Glinda, please turn around." Elphaba requests soft, she licks her dry lips as the blonde slowly turns around until blue eyes are looking up at her. The green woman watches the golden locks swirl around in another gust of wind. Glinda uses her left hand to start tucking her flying hair behind her left ear but she inhales deeply when Elphaba reaches over and tucks the rest of her hair behind her right ear to help her out. Crystal, blue eyes flash a range of emotions but she couldn't decipher them because they quickly disappear behind a wall.
"What are you doing here, Elphaba?" The blond ask while the raven haired beauty gives a smirk and crosses her arms. She guess the two of them will get straight to the point. She casts a glance back towards the compound before looking back to Glinda.
"I had a little talk with Silver." Elphaba starts off but she sees Glinda's eyes narrow slightly at hearing the Wolf meddling in her affairs. Pink bows will appear in his fur sometime soon. Her chin is suddenly on fire as Elphaba moves her face back towards her. The blonde needs to focus now.
"He is just being a good friend." The green woman says softly as she removes her hand from the pale flesh. Glinda casts her eyes away while biting her bottom lip. She has had a speech all in her head explain everything while mixing in apologies for not saying something sooner. The good witch forgot it the second her eyes laid on the beauty of Elphaba. She clears her throat and locks eyes with those soulful, brown eyes. She just has to speak from the heart.
"Elphaba, when you left my body I was near death but I was rescued by Malky. In the past month I was recovering from my injuries but from the moment I regain consciousness I had to make sure you were safe because I knew the Wizard would blame you for my death. I had to get you away from harm. A day hasn't gone by when I thought about you and wanting to go to you to tell you I was alive-"Glinda's heartfelt speech was cut off suddenly by green lips being pressed against her own. A spark goes through her lips the second Elphaba kissed her. She inhales deeply and her eyes flutter close as she presses her lips back against the green ones. Her body shivers when deft fingers land on her hips. It feels like old times again. The green woman gives a smirk when her ears pick up a whimper escaping the pink lips when she pulls away slightly. She still got it.
"Glinda, I think we take it slow. Our relationship can be rebuilt." Elphaba whispers as she uses the back of her hand to caress the side of the blonde's face. She still has the sting of hurt of just finding out Glinda has been alive for over a month but she thinks it can go away with time. A smile slowly breaks out on the good witch's face at hearing this. She doesn't care if they have to take it slow just as long as she is with Elphaba again, that's all that matters.
"Ok, we can do that." Glinda whispers back as she gets closer to the raven haired beauty. Maybe she can sneak in one more kiss. Brown eyes sparkle in happiness while she sneaks around the lithe waist. Elphaba noticed the subtle movement the good witch has been doing and she isn't exactly going to push her away. The two have a lot of making up to do. The green woman bends her head down and tilts her head slightly to the left to plant a very welcomed kiss on the waiting, pink lips. Silver is watching this scene unfold by the entrance to the compound with a smile on his face. It seems like winds of change are flowing in the right direction and he hopes it continues to fly in their favor.
So it seems the two women are getting back together but it might take some time for it to be back to the way it was but it is on the road to recovery. Now, next chapter will be a nice Gelphie chapter and Glinda makes a startling discovery about something. You will have to wait until tomorrow to find what she finds out. Until then my readers!
