CHAPTER 11: TWO YEARS AS PARTNER'S
It had now been a few months since solved the case of what happened to Donald Blye and since Kensi had reconnected with her mother.
After they had finished the case...
Kensi had ordered to take some time off to let herself heal.
She had taken the time to further reconnect with her mother and take Meg over so that Julia could get to know her granddaughter better.
After Kensi had returned to work...Meg (and Monty) had gone back to Cassie's to be baby sat during the day.
Julia had invited Kensi to bring Marty and Meg by one night so they could all have dinner together.
Kensi had told Marty about both Julia's invitation about a family dinner.
But Kensi, Meg and Marty still had yet to go over to Julia's for dinner.
APRIL 2012...
0500 HOURS...
KENSI & MARTY'S BEDROOM...
Marty opened his eyes and looked at Kensi still sleeping beside him.
As quietly as he could he slipped out of bed with the intention of going surfing.
THE KITCHEN...
Once he reached the kitchen Marty started a pot of coffee and looked at the calendar.
He then realized what day it was...
April 6th
It had now been 2 years since him and Kensi had met for a second time on that they had started working together.
"Where did the time go?" Marty muttered still staring at the calendar. "Talking to yourself?" Kensi asked startling Marty.
"Hey, I thought you were still asleep." Marty commented. "No, I woke up and realized you were gone. " Kensi said walking over to stand in front of him.
"I was getting ready to leave you a note to tell you I had gone surfing. I was just waiting on the coffee so I could take some with me. Do you know what today is, Kens?" Marty asked.
"April 6th..." Kensi replied looking at the calendar and her eyes grew wide as the realization hit her of what the day was.
"Two years ago we met for a second time and started working together. Can you believe that? I mean where has the time gone?" Marty inquired.
"We've been a little busy with work and taking care of Meg, but you're right it's hard to believe how fast time has gone. I just wish..." Kensi stopped and Marty looked at her with curiosity.
"Just wish what?" Marty asked. "That time would slow down, Meg is going to be 4 on July 10th." Kensi repllied.
"Hey, since it's Friday what do you say that we find a baby sitter for Meg tonight and the two of us go out to celebrate.
"I think Cassie had plans tonight with her family, but I can see if my mom will watch Meg." Kensi offered.
"I guess surfing is out..."
Marty said looking behind Kensi at the doorway and Kensi turned to see Meg wiping her sleepy eyes with Monty at her side.
"...Morning, Meg." Kensi said as Marty walked over and scooped Meg up in his arms.
Meg just laid her head on Marty's shoulder and looked from Marty to Kensi with sleepy eyes.
"What woke up you up, Princess?" Marty asked looking at Meg. "Bad dweam." Meg answered sticking her thumb in her mouth.
"Do you remember what it was about?" Kensi inquired, but Meg shook her head no.
"Okay, since we're all up. Why don't you two get ready and we can all take Monty for a walk together and then when we get back I'll make some pancakes for breakfast." Marty suggested.
"Rweawwy?" Meg asked.
"Really, but I don't think we want to go out in our pajamas...so how about I go get ready while mommy helps you and then we'll wait while mommy gets ready." Marty told her and Meg nodded.
20 MINUTES LATER...
After they were all ready, they walked out the door and Marty turned to lock the door behind them.
Meg walked between Marty and Kensi with both of them holding her hand. Meg giggled when Kensi and Marty lifted her off the ground a little letting her swing between them.
0900 HOURS...
THE BULLPEN...
Marty and Kensi dropped Meg and Monty off at Cassie's house with Meg putting up a fight about wanting to stay with them.
"Do you think she does remember her nightmare?" Kensi asked Marty as they walked into the Bullpen. "Maybe, but do you think she wouldn't tell us?" Marty inquired. "I don't know, but I wish I did. I think I'm going to call my mom and see if she can watch Meg tonight." Kensi said as she set her stuff down and walked away pulling out her cell phone.
"Morning." Marty greeted Callen and Sam.
Callen looked up from the paperwork he had been looking at.
"Morning, why is Kensi going to ask her mom to watch Meg tonight?" Sam asked.
"Because Kensi and I were planning on going out tonight to celebrate our two year anniversary as partners." Marty replied. with a smile.
"Two years...you think that he will last another 3 years and make it to 5 year anniversary as Kensi's partner?" Callen joked looking at Sam. "Who knows," Sam responded as Kensi came back looking disappointed.
"You okay, Kens?" Marty asked seeing the look on her face. "My mom has plans for tonight. So I guess we'll have to postpone our date." Kensi said sitting down at her desk.
"Well I guess we can make it family night and take Meg with us." Marty suggested.
"I call Michelle, but I don't think she would mind if Meg came to spend the night with us." Sam offered.
"Really?" Marty asked in surprise and Sam nodded.
"I'll call Michelle later to see if it's okay." Sam said again.
Morning turned into afternoon and afternoon soon became the end of the day.
Sam had called Michelle and she agreed, so Sam said he would meet Kensi and Marty at their house to pick up Meg about 6:30.
That would give Marty and Kensi enough time to get Meg, go home and pack an overnight bag for her.
The team then set to work on cold cases waiting for Eric to let them know they had a new case.
THAT EVENING...
CASSIE'S HOUSE...
Getting out of the car Marty and Kensi headed up to the door to pick up Meg.
Before Kensi could knock the door opened and there stood Meg with a huge smile on her face Monty standing beside her with Cassie right behind her.
"Hey, Megling, did you have a good day?" Marty asked kneeling down in front of Meg and she nodded with a grin.
"Hey, Marty, Kensi. We had a pretty good day." Cassie said as she handed Meg's bag and Monty's leashe to Kensi.
"Thanks, Cassie, we'll see you Monday." Kensi said taking Monty's leashe and Meg's bag, then the four headed for Kensi's car.
IN THE CAR...
"Meg, how would you like to go spend the night with Uncle Sam and Aunt Michelle tonight?" Marty asked looking at Meg as Kensi drove.
"Why?" Meg asked. "Mommy and I want to go out tonight, but it will be past your bedtime. Plus we thought you might want to have a slumber party with Luara tonight." Marty replied.
"Yous no want me?" Meg asked. "We do want you, baby girl. Daddy and I just thought you could have a slumber party with Luara, then we'll come get you just after lunch tomorrow." Marty told her as Kensi pulled into the driveway.
"But yous still want me?" Meg asked. "Of course we do, there will never be a time we don't want you." Kensi reassured Megan before getting out of the car and opening the back door to get Meg out.
"Sometimes even mommies and daddies need some time alone, Meg." Marty said as the four of them walked to the front door and Marty unlocked it.
1845 HOURS...
Sam, Michelle and Laura had just left taking Meg and Monty with them.
"So what is the plan for tonight, Fern?" Marty asked with a grin looking at her. "I was thinking America's Next Top Model, some take out and beer." Kensi replied with a grin.
"Really...is that all you had planned for tonight?" Marty questioned looking disappointed. "Maybe, why did you have some other idea of how we could spend some alone time together?" Kensi teased and Marty just looked at her. "I have a few ideas, but they are a little different from your plans." Marty shot back walking to her and stopping when there was no space between them.
"Ever hear of personal space, Deeks?" Kensi teased.
"Hmmm...maybe, but I was thinking about some sexy time." Marty told her before pressing his lips to hers. "What makes you think that's going to happen?" Kensi asked with pulling back a little.
"Because you know you can't resist me..." Marty said pressing his lips to hers once again and this time Kensi kissed him back.
It didn't take long before they started to shed their clothes and make their way to the bedroom...
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Wow, these last 2 weeks have been flying for me.
I have been a little busy taking care of two week old baby Alexandra Grace (or Ally as everyone calls her.)
I know I should be sleeping when she is, but I decided to go a head and finish this chapter at least.
Keep an eye out, because I may be updating this story again and the other 2 soon. No promises when, but I'm never done trying to think of ideas for my stories.
