Chapter 11

Yes, That Just Happened

***WARNING***

This chapter contains spoilers from stories 1, 2 and 3. If you have not read those stories, I would highly suggest going back and reading them. However, this chapter does sum up everything that took place in those three stories.

Anyway! I hope you enjoy this chapter, and please don't forget to leave a review!

I was sitting at the PokeCenter at Mauville racking my brain around my previous battle. My pokemon were being healed from the battle, though only Scizor really needed it. The ones that were not in the healing center were outside enjoying the nice weather in the little pokemon park that Nurse Joy was nice enough to let them in, that is, all of them but Pichu.

Pichu was running around getting into everything. Pulling out drawers, running in the cabinets, and playing hide and seek in the plants. Normally I would be running after him, but Chansey seemed to have it under control. Or, at least, she will when she catches him.

How did I lose? I did everything that I normally would have done. Maybe I am just too focused on Arcanine. Every time I get into a pinch, he is always there. I then remembered my friends. Bill… when I am in a pinch he is there too.

Friends…

I closed my eyes, thinking back. Shonna… she was more than my friend… Ricky… he was…

In my head I saw his bloody body, mangled under rocks. The disfigured Mew Three screaming out in pain as its organs fell to the ground. Blood splattering as its skin tore, falling apart and crying red tears from his eyes.

Why was I thinking about this? What have I seen? Normally people never see the things I have. Normal people have no idea the horror I have felt…

In my head an image of Shonna came to me again. We were there at the Safari Zone, walking through the woods. She was happy, and I was too just because she was there.

There we are again, battling Sabrina together for the first time. I laughed as we nearly lost because we couldn't make up our minds on combo attacks.

And then, there, again, we stood, watching the sunset outside of Celadon City. Those stupid cops never knew what hit them when we broke out of that place.

We had finally done it, we made it to the Kanto League, and not only that but we got there months early. We stayed together in a trainer house. We battled, and trained. And I lost to her, several times. She won, she bested me. And then came that day. The finals. We fought, battled, and by pure luck, I won.

And then… then…

At this point I was lost deep in thought. Everything around me was gone, and there I was, floating through the black of my thoughts.

I saw Shonna leaving. She was on the boat, heading to Sinnoh. I could see those waves again, crashing on the shore. I could see the ceiling in my bed room… that same one that I stared at for six months after that day. Then I saw… him.

Ricky was playing pool at Cinnabar Island. I could hear his voice, saying 'I took a break from my journey in Johto.' His blood red eyes, scarlet hair and the way he knew everything about me without me telling him. Something was wrong, but I was so desperate for a friend I ignored all of it.

He stole my pokemon, took my work, logged my activity, recorded every battle I had, and actually got me to trust him. Finally, when I was no use to him, he tried to have me executed. His army, Team Rocket, attacked me. Their science and evil ways was stealing my pokemon to create something so monstrous that only Giovanni was wicked enough to try it.

Another image came to my head. Purple flames. The same purple flames that my once beloved Magcargo had. Ricky had stolen him… brain washed him… and then killed him.

He was a murderer. Rapist. Team Rocket leader. And… he tricked me into becoming his friend.

In my thoughts I could hear his voice saying, "I think I'll go to Sinnoh to have fun with that little tramp of yours… You know, before I kill her." He then laughed and I could see Shonna running away, screaming and falling. He grabbed her by the throat, holding her up as blood ran down his face. His body was mangled like the last time I saw him. He took out his weapon of choice; a double sided, razor sharp switchblade. He stuck it to Shonna's shirt, cutting from the neck to the shoulder, making it fall half way off of her.

"No!" I screamed, reaching my hand to her.

"No!" Shonna screamed. "No! No, no! No, Ricky." She then laughed, a deep laugh. "No, Ricky. Heh, no." She then turned around, a deep grin on her face as I saw that under her shirt was an other that revealed a red "R".

I backed up, and then shook my head.

"What?" Ricky asked. "She was tailing you the whole time. She was the reason I was there. She was too weak to finish the job."

"You Liar!" I screamed

"You Liar! You Liar!" I screamed louder and louder.

I felt myself shake. "You dirty liar! I hate that I ever called you my friend! I hate you!"

"Kyle!" I heard a voice say as my vision went from black to white. Shonna's body faded, as did Ricky's. Slowing the form of a pink haired girl came into view. She was shaking me frantically and I could see several pokemon standing around.

When I realized what was going on I shook my head, giving me a good sudden wake up call, and then looked at Nurse Joy.

"Oh thank heavens!" Nurse Joy sighed. "I'm glad I could wake you up from that, you were screaming horrible things."

I looked around and saw Unbreon beside me, Scizor leaned up against the wall, Kabutops looking at me teary eyed ready to cry, and Chansey holding Pichu who had a small mini straight jacket on.

"I'm sorry you all." I said rubbing my head as I looked over to Kabutops, who was ready to break down and start balling at any time. "Hey, bud." I said with a smile as I pat him on his rock head." I'm sorry, I wasn't talking to you at all."

"Bo?" He tilted his head.

"No, I was talking to…" I looked around the room, trying to spy something, anything, so I could get the handicapped pokemon with razor sharp swords to not get upset. "I was talking to… ummm… That plant!" I pointed to the front door which had a tropical fern of some kind beside it.

Kabutops turned and looked at the plant, and then back to me with a confused look that said, "That's a plant. Plants don't talk."

I stood up, looking at Joy as I stretched. "So, was I saying what I thought I said?"

"A bunch of hurtful things, yes." She said calmly. "You were out for some time. All your pokemon are healed, that is except for Arcanine, but you already know that."

"Yes, thank you." I said as she handed me my pokeballs.

One by one I recalled my party. Scizor first, then Umbreon, Kabutops and… I then noticed Pichu in the protective arms of Chansey. He had a defeated look on his face as he looked down at the straight jacket that was made out of rubber. I laughed, "You shouldn't have been doing that. I told you Chansey would get you eventually."

"Pi…" Pichu groaned.

"I hope he wasn't too much trouble." I spoke to Chansey with a smile.

"Chansey!" Chansey smiled the way she always does in all the PokeCenters I ever been to. She is always happy, always calm. I guess that is why Nurse Joy's always have them. They are happy regardless of what has happened or what is going to happen.

"Could you hold him for a bit longer?" I asked.

"PI-CHU!?" Pichu jumped and tried to squirm.

"I just need to make a phone call and then we'll go, okay?"

I turned away hearing Pichu shock and try to get free, but to no avail. I went to the counter, gathering the rest of my pokeballs as Nurse Joy came up behind me. "Kyle," she said. "You know you are more than welcome to use the phone, but you just woke up from a long nap. I thought you should know that it is 2 in the morning."

"Really?" I asked. "2:00 a.m.?"

"Well, really," She then turned to look at the clock on the adjacent wall, showing a time of '2:13 a.m.'.

"Oh, well its okay." I said with a smile. "That is actually good. I'm calling Kanto and they are around 12 hours difference in time." With that I went over to the video phone, picked it up and dialed the all to familiar number.

The phone rang once, and then twice. "Hello?" Professor Oak said in a cheery way. "Oh, why, hello, Kyle! It's fancy to have you calling me at a decent time. How are your journeys going?"

"Fine." I said, taking off the pokeball that was on my necklace. Never… Never… have I transferred you… "Oak…"

"Yes, Kyle?"

"I'm transferring you Arcanine. He has a hurt paw and cannot get too much activity. The Nurse here says that it will take several weeks to get better." I also dug into my pocket bringing out the item holder. "This is his medicine. She said it's for smaller dogs so it will take a few more than the recommended dose."

"Kyle, need I remind you that I wrote those books on pokemon care that the nurses study?" I nodded, feeling stupid because, well, I did know that.

"I'm sorry, Oak." I sighed. "Its just… Arcanine has never left my side before. And, I want to make sure he is safe."

"I promise you Kyle, Arcanine will be in well kept in good hands."

With one last hesitant sigh, I put the ball on the transfer unit and hit send. I saw Oak reach down and pull up the ball, turning it over and examining it. "This ball has seen a lot, hasn't it?"

"It's seen everything I have." I said, placing the item holder on the transfer unit as well. "Here is his medicine too." I then hit send, and just as before Oak held up the ball, showing me he received both of them.

"One last thing, Oak." I said hesitantly. "Please let Arcanine know what is going on. We have never been apart. If you need to video call me…" An idea struck me, as I frantically began to dig thought my book bag. I looked, searching through all the crap I never use until I found it. I held up the cell phone that I took from Ricky. The thing was beat up, nicked and gouged, but it still had a faint charge when I turned it on. I flipped it up, seeing that it had 5 minutes left, and a number displayed.

"Oak, if Arcanine starts freaking out or something, give me a call on this number. I'll go to a video phone and talk to you right then."

"Alright." Oak said with a smile. "I'm sure Arcanine will love it here. Thank you, Kyle, and I'm sure that all the Kanto visitors would love to see your prized Arcanine!" With that the call ended.

I felt empty, again. I had no pokeball on my necklace, and I had no back up plan. I have six of my seven pokemon I can carry, Articuno being in my '0' slot. And now, my first pokemon… my best friend, I sent away. I really hope that he doesn't go nuts over there. I really cannot afford to mess up his medication. I know it sounds easy, but I'm not a doctor. I'm hardly even a good trainer. I'm not even a good friend. How can I possibly try to take care of Arcanine correctly when I can't even take care of myself?
