I hope everyone is still enjoying this! I've taken to writing two chapters a day to make sure details match up and that I will always have a chapter ready every day! In other news, I am being kidnapped by my mother today to clean the entirety of my house since my nephews are getting here the day after. So, I'll still update (since I am writing these ahead of time in preparation) but keep this in mind if things start coming out slower!

Also, as for FMA Brotherhood canon, I'm switching some things around. Yes, Mustang and Havoc faced Lust but Havoc was not paralyzed. I'm gonna need him for support later on. Father and Bradley are confronting Mustang sooner rather than later since their ace card, Edward, has disappeared and possibly disappeared from the fray. The North won't have as much as an appearance but they will eventually show up at some point since not everything is going to end with the comet in the ATLA world. Let's just say shit's gonna get cray-cray whenever the Gate gets opened.

Since I haven't read/watched Brotherhood in a couple years, yes, I'm gonna get some details wrong such as I just caught with Havoc and I'm just going with them because hell, he's my favorite subordinate of Mustang's crew. I'm working on researching as much as I can but at this point, the plot of Brotherhood is gonna be a bit scrambled because one of the main characters isn't even there anymore and I'm working to remember plots and when everything happened in what order. Apologies on that front but I'm to the 'fuck it' stage where I'm messing with everything in an in-character way (at least I'm hoping to God that I am).

And with that, I now bring you to…the story.

Colonel Roy Mustang sighed as he left Central Headquarters. It had been two weeks since Fullmetal's funeral and things weren't doing so well. Everyone's moral had been incredibly low, Alphonse had decided to stay in Riesembool with the Rockbells, and the Xingese prince had disappeared with his posse of ninja body guards. Fuhrer Bradley was starting to make some subtle and not so subtle moves as Riza was about to be transferred into his office as a play against Roy.

Basically, things were certainly not looking good and with Fullmetal's demise and Riza's transfer so soon, he couldn't help but feel as though he was being backed into a corner. Things were going to hell and he couldn't help but feel a little discouraged and wished Hughes and his always present optimism was still around to keep his thoughts afloat.

Mustang was so absorbed in his thoughts that as he walked down the streets of Central past 11 pm, he didn't notice the shadows slowly following him.

Until they suddenly attacked and Roy was forcefully dragged into a dark alley and no one was around to see it.

At a secluded beach house in the Fire Nation, there was a large amount activity going on. Edward was finally learning earthbending and Toph was exactly his kind of teacher. In fact, he wondered if he ended up with a younger version of her.

He had basic levitation and control over earth as well as an earth block, a kind of shield, as well as being able to create some simple columns as his beginning forms that were taught to him but Toph had more of his style. Not only was she teaching him her 'earth location' technique that she used to see like Aang told him about, the offensive and defensive moves reminded him of his usual alchemy fighting style. With that, the two bonded and Edward had an easier time understanding and performing earthbending.

Whenever he wasn't training with Toph, he was working on his mastery of water and fire. Working with Katara first, he found that she had a similar style to Pakku (understandably) but wasn't as rigid about what could and couldn't be done with waterbending. She told him about the other styles she encountered including plantbending but there was one she wouldn't tell him about and Ed didn't push the issue. They hadn't asked about how he lost his limbs after all.

Zuko was also an interesting teacher. He wasn't as aggressive as other firebenders bot to say he was completely passive either. He seemed more at peace than others who relied on excitement or anger. He was honestly reminded of Hawkeye's personality.

It had taken more time but he mastered waterbending first as per requirement. His earthbending, since it came almost as naturally as alchemy had to him, followed quickly after. Firebending was a little harder to finish up but with Zuko's calm guidance, he completed his mastery as well. It was an intensive schedule that left Edward with little sleep but with the comet's appearance scheduled to arrive in less than a month, he had to power through as quickly as possible.

The last thing he had to learn was airbending and it would be more complicated for more than one reason. Firstly, he had to be in a constant state of meditation so Aang could manifest himself to tutor his replacement. Secondly, Edward wasn't so keen on being able to launch himself in the air. Back in Amestris, there were a few people trying to complete a flying machine and Edward honestly couldn't imagine himself up in the sky for long periods of time.

It was during this meditation that Aang, in the middle of teaching him an air funnel, looked distressed and Edward dropped his stance.

"What's wrong?"

"The Gate that transported you here in the first place apparently just appeared again in the Spirit World."

Edward suddenly grew serious and stared directly into Aang's eyes.

"How can I get there?"

Aang shrugged and sat down on the ground in a meditation pose and Edward joined him.

"Well, it's another form of meditation. It's honestly an out-of-body experience that you can control. You just don't want to be out too long."

Edward nodded and closed his eyes and began to focus. It took some time but suddenly found himself standing next to Aang above his body which was seated on the floor but his eyes were glowing white.

"This is honestly weird as hell." The blond said before noticing that he was see-through just like Aang. "Let's get this over with."

"Thankfully there's a temporary portal around here. They don't pop up often but we're lucky in this case." Aang said and the two darted off quickly for it.

It was this that the rest of the Gaang found when they went looking for Edward after not seeing him for a few hours.

"Did you go on a spirit trip or something?" Sokka asked and the others shrugged.

"I can only assume so." Zuko replied.

They decided to stick nearby just in case something happened which, since it was getting down to the line till the comet arriving, could easily happen.

Roy woke up to pain everywhere, especially in his hands and feet. After a moment, he realized that he was pinned down to the floor.

"Great." He murmured as he blinked open his eyes to see Bradley staring down at him with his son, Selim. "Do you really want a little kid watching me die?" He asked and Bradley smirked.

"Who do you think captured you?" The Fuhrer responded and Selim let out a sharp toothy grin that made Roy pale slightly and it wasn't due to blood loss.

"You caught our attention, Colonel. It's a pity that Father needs you alive. Luckily, we just need you alive." Bradley mused aloud and the Colonel let out a shudder. This wasn't looking good. He tried to glance around at his surrounded and swore when he noticed he was in the middle of a transmutation circle that also contained dead bodies. He felt panic set in when he saw it was a human transmutation circle.

"I see you noticed your housings. We needed another human sacrifice since Fullmetal decided to let himself get killed. Don't worry- Gluttony was duly punished." Bradley announced and a man stepped out of the darkness. He looked crazed. "Oh, this is our guest to help motivate you into a transmutation. Don't worry. It doesn't hurt. Much."

The man stepped towards the circle and knelt down and began to perform the transmutation. Roy felt an intense burning as he felt his own body react and add into the mix. He barely remembered screaming his heart out until he was suddenly enshrouded in a harsh white light.

TA DA! Will Mustang see Edward? Will Edward get there in time?! Will Mustang's team find out what happened to him? WHO KNOWS?! (Other than myself but- HA!)
