Some Sort of Happy

Leah's POV

What is wrong with me? It had been years since I'd dealt with the supernatural side of what I was yet I still frozen in time. I had searched myself and my spirituality, and even went as far as to try to imagine what my mother would say. I'm stuck here for a reason. There's something I'm supposed to learn … that's the nice clean happy version my mom would've come up with. I would ask her if she'd return my calls. I didn't want to feel the hurt when she sent me to voicemail. The other answer the one I didn't want to believe was that I belonged to him. He's the reason why I wouldn't age because on some sick level that night in the woods he claimed me and I wouldn't be free until he released me. I sighed and looked at my hands drenched in soapy dish water. Tonight had been a busy night for the bar I was going to be here until the early morning for sure unless I got to work alone then I could increase my speed a little bit.

"Hey Girlie," Denise the woman who had quickly became my best friend came strolling from busing tables and giving me more work to do. She plopped her bin down and hopped on the table. Our manager always found a reason to leave early so we were left to our own devices after midnight.

"Hey Dee what's up," I said as I pulled the load she brought in over to the wash.

"Nothing much so did you get the book?" She asked and I nodded.

"Well what did you think? Isn't it EVERYTHING! I swear it's so hot I wish I was that Layla chick. I wouldn't have left him that's for damn sure," Denise rambled on about the book.

"I haven't gotten that far Dee, don't ruin it for me," I muttered. I had to admit that the book had something intriguing about it. I had only made it through two chapter and the shit was kind of dark. I was surprised Denise would get into that sort of thing. After looking it up online it seemed to be making the mark with all the females of America. It seemed every woman wanted to be ravished. I chucked at the inner workings of my mind.

"Well you best get to reading! I need someone to gush about all this with. The only other person I know reading the series is my mom and I refuse to talk to her about it. It's just weird." We both burst into giggles when Mr. Cameron came in clearing his throat. His intent was to intimidate and in an attempt to protect is male ego we jumped to attention but the guy was just too nerdy to be scary.

"Ladies, I have some news. We have a new member to our overnight crew. Ladies this is Edward Cullen, Edward this is Leah and Denise. My two hardest working bus boys excuse me I mean bus ladies of the shift. However, now that you're on the team I was planning to mix it up a little. Leah, I know you had expressed a desire to be a waitress. Are you still interested?" I was listening but my head still felt like it was in a fog. Here was Edward sticking his head into my life again, but this time opportunity had come from it. He was looking at me under eyed. I knew he was searching for something God only knew what. I huffed and looked down.

"Leah?" Oh shit that's right my answer.

"Yes, Mr. Cameron I'm still really interested."

"Great! You will get the opportunity come in a little earlier to learn the ropes but I still need you to stay through the entire night to make sure everything else goes out without a hitch. Okay?" I nodded.

"Denise, you will be training Edward. He is to shadow you tonight and I'm off. I will see you both tomorrow." He waved as he practically sprinted to the door. Denise and I shared a smirk.

"Girl, I think that's the longest conversation he's ever had with us and look at you getting a little promotion." I rolled my eyes. Mr. Cameron didn't know that his current staff of waiters were pretty much useless after he was gone, Denise and I picked up there light work anyway.

"Yeah," I muttered and Denise wrapped her arm around me.

"I know what you're thinking. I can read your mind Leah Clearwater, we do most of the work anyway well at least you will get paid for it. Chipper up chica!" She popped my on the butt as she headed out. I heard her say something to Edward as they both exited the kitchen. I took a deep breath as I looked back down to the dishes in front of me. I wiped my brow. What was happening? Did he follow me here? Why now when I was actually some of happy?

After about ten minutes of solitude Dee rushed into the kitchen without Edward. I turned around quickly because she seemed like she had something important to say. "Leah, this guy is so fine and fast. You know who he reminds me of? The guy in the book Edward could be the spitting image of Eric except for the hair color and the eyes. It's his mannerisms you know." I didn't understand why Denise was so stuck on him. Edward had a creepy kind of look if you ask me. Yes, I did sleep with him but it wasn't my choice to be taken in by him. It was what he was that caused me to become so attracted to him. The only reason I wanted him was because he wanted me. I was over him. I was done.

"Shit!" I looked down at my hand as blood now gushed out. I closed it quickly and moved away from the water.

"Oh my God! Let me go get some bandages." Denise ran out of the kitchen and I sat there watching my hand heal. I chuckled at it bitterly.

"Still not normal Leah," I whispered as it healed. I felt two hands around my arms.

"You're not normal Leah … you're perfect. It's not normal to be perfect," he whispered and breathed along the side of my neck. He was affecting me and I hated him for it.

"Stop it! Why are you here? Are you stalking me or something?"

"No, I actually had no idea you worked here. It made sense for me to get a night job and this was the only one in the area," he explained.

"I thought you were here with your family aren't you supposed to be a freshman?" Edward smirked but didn't give me any answers. He disappeared quickly and as soon as he did Denise replaced his presence in the kitchen.

"I was so confused by what I was feeling. I should hate him. God, knows I wanted to but as hard as I tried I still didn't feel that level of hurt or rage."
