And I'm back again. Have you missed me? I know you have! Alright, a brief recap.
After Alucard's initial attack, Mikogami and Touhou cast a spell on the larger part and made it sleep at night. Then, they directed everyone to their headquarters, Heiwa, where they had operations already set in place for something like this. The group have still been training to fight Alucard while Moka was in a coma, but once Moka woke up, she had to fight Touhou Fuhai, since she was too strong to spar with the others. Days after Alucard's awakening, the great Akasha Bloodriver rises from inside him and goes to find her daughter, desciding to aid her in controlling and mastering her Shinso power. After a while, Akasha gets the others in the group together and they come up with a solution to get Moka's will to kill back. However, Akasha had been hiding something from the other members that she displays while fighting Moka. She kills all of Moka's friends and even Kokoa and Aqua. Moka, seeing that she had no choice, kills Akasha and falls into a spiral of despair.
And that is why I suck with summaries. Anyway, that's the gist of it. So now, we continue on to the next chapter! And for those of you who have forgotten, this takes place AFTER the ending of chapter 66, but diverges from the path. It's an alternate ending and everything here does not take into account chapter 66.2 and onwards. So, Headmaster Mikogami, Touhou Fuhai and Akasha aren't dead and Alucard is still rampaging through Japan.
Enjoy guys!
Moka groaned as she awoke, her eyes puffy from all of the crying she had done. She didn't open them, opting to try staying asleep a little while longer to forget the pain of losing her family. The lights in the room she was laying in weren't overly bright, barely coming through her eyelids, much to her gratitude. She could hear people moving around the room, coming and going, their whispered words too low for her to try getting a read on who it was.
Deciding that sleep has eluded her, Moka slowly opened her eyes, sitting up and touching her head. "Well, it's about time you woke up, Oneesama." Moka nearly gave herself whiplash as she whipped her head around to see everyone she thought was dead standing near the wall, Kokoa holding a cake.
"You… all of you… but you're all…"
"Dead?" Kurumu asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Y-yeah."
"That was all an illusion." Akasha stated, moving forward.
"Mother!" Moka felt tears spring to her eyes once more at the sight of the pink-haired woman. "I thought I had… I thought you were dead."
"I was… somewhat, but I pulled myself back together again. Now, as I was saying, everything was an illusion."
"What do you mean?" Moka asked, wiping her eyes.
"Everyone didn't actually die." Akasha told her simply. "I had Touhou Fuhai bring them from behind the trees, one by one, in order for him to project their image into the barrier. The bodies you saw were Mizore's ice clones and the blood was a nice trick provided by Ruby."
"But… why?"
"Because you needed to let go of that silly fear you have." Akasha told her gently. "Killing is in a vampire's nature and it's vital when things come to Alucard. There's no room for inhibitions and bad memories."
"Fear?" Moka cocked her head in confusion. "What do you mean, bad memories?"
Everyone stopped in puzzlement and Akasha asked, "Don't you remember the first time you met Alucard?"
"No, some things are still fuzzy in my memory. I remember Alucard attacking, but I can't remember anything after he tried to eat me."
"You don't remember where I went?" the pink-haired woman pressed in shock.
"No. I just thought that you left and something made you decide not to come back."
"Then why don't you kill?" Aqua demanded calmly.
"Because I've never seen a point in taking someone's life." Moka shrugged. "If they haven't done something bad enough to be killed then there's no point. Plus, all that bloodshed is messy and unnecessary. Are you telling me that all of you thought I was afraid to kill Alucard?" They all shifted uncomfortably.
Moka sniffed in contempt. "Know your place." A smell wafted to her and she glanced at the cake in her younger sister's hands. "What's that?"
"We made a cake to apologize." Kurumu told her, slowly coming forward to sit on one side of her.
"Yeah, we've been assholes lately." Mizore sighed, sitting on her other side.
"What do you mean? You've acted the same way you always do toward me."
"Yeah, but you're sitting here fighting your mom day in and day out, training your fangs off and getting your ass kicked while we spend most of our time having fun, not even bothering to include you like we used to." Moka cocked her head at Kurumu's words.
"Well, you've all got your own problems to deal with. You don't have to take care of me too."
"But you're our friend!" Yukari pouted, climbing onto the young vampire's lap. "We're supposed to include you in everything we do."
"Hmph, I don't need you to do that."
Kurumu and Yukari both raised their hands delivering one slap after the other. Moka rubbed one of her cheeks and glared at them both. "What."
"Stop acting so nonchalant about it!" Kurumu shouted angrily, her eyes soft and troubled. "Why didn't you tell us that we were smothering you? The outer Moka never mentioned-."
"She also never had friends or family." Moka interrupted, now rubbing her other cheek. "She never had people crowding her or trying to get her attention. So when she met all of you, despite being rivals in love, she was happy for the company."
"Still, you should have let us know." Yukari told her. "We're your friends; we're supposed to make you feel comfortable around us, not make you want to strangle us all."
"I'd like to see her try." Mizore muttered, her hand turning to ice. Before anyone could react, Moka's hand shot out and grasped the snow fairy's throat, squeezing for a few seconds and then letting go.
"I would never strangle someone." Moka stated calmly while everyone stared at her dubiously. "Watching someone change colors before my eyes isn't a pretty sight."
Mizore glared at her for a moment, her other hand turning to ice, but Moka placed her hand over the ice ones, looking the girl in the eyes for a half a second before turning to Yukari and doing the same, in turn doing it to Kurumu as well. "I will tell you next time." She stated firmly, avoiding their eyes as she said this.
Aqua and Akasha shared a glance, noticing the way she avoided her friends' eyes when she said that, her voice not quite so arrogant and cold. She feels for them. Aqua thought, watching her sister shake off the sudden embarrassment and return to herself. But she is not good at expressing it.
Clearing her throat, the Chinese girl moved forward and stood on Mizore's side. "How are you feeling, Moka?" she inquired calmly, a soft smile on her face.
"I feel fine, why?" Moka looked up at her sister in confusion.
"You were devastated yesterday when you got out of the arena."
"I've never seen you cry like that before oneesama." Kokoa agreed. "It was almost like you were an infant."
Moka felt her pride spike. "Well, I had just killed my own mother after watching her kill everyone dear to me. Do you mean to tell me that you didn't cry when you killed Kahlua?"
"Well, yes, but not like that." Kokoa smirked, knowing that she had a leg up over her sister.
"Yeah, well, you try going through Mother's Shinso training and…" Moka stopped, seeing Alucard flash before her eyes. He's still in sync with my Shinso blood, right? Which means he can't sync with anyone else's… More than two Shinso would be able to stop him with no problem…
Everyone stared at the silver-haired girl as she seemed to space out for a moment. Tsukune glanced at Akasha to see the pink-haired woman cocking her head at her daughter, a thoughtful expression on her face.
Suddenly, Moka blurted, "Suck my blood!"
She ducked her head sheepishly as all eyes found her and Kokoa said, "What."
"I was thinking about Alucard and the fact that when he synchronized with my blood, he stopped syncing with Mother's. It seems that he can only sync to one person's blood at a time. If he's synced with my blood, then it would stop him from realizing that there are more than two Shinsos alive."
"But Moka, it requires a large amount of blood to become a Shinso." Akasha told her worriedly.
"You did it for me." Moka replied softly, looking up into the worried green eyes.
Akasha looked taken aback before slowly nodding. "I don't think there's any way it would hurt."
"Alright, Kokoa, take a drink." Moka told her younger sister.
"Wait, we can't both drink from you." Kokoa exclaimed.
"Then Aqua can drink from me." Akasha grinned, sending a wink at the eldest sister and causing her to blush with shame and embarrassment.
"Alright, let's do this." Aqua agreed.
Akasha slid onto the bed as Kurumu, Mizore and Yukari hopped off. Kokoa leaped onto her older sister's lap and hugged her around the shoulders. Aqua placed her knees on either side of Akasha's legs and gripped her shoulders firmly. Sharing a glance, the two sisters took a short breath and bit into the two Shinsos, beginning to drink. Both donors flinched gently at the bite, but made no move to pull away, letting their drinkers concentrate on absorbing as much Shinso blood as possible.
The group watched as the two girls began to glow, their bodies fusing together with the new blood within their systems. Both of their auras grew more powerful with each passing second and Tsukune wondered briefly whether or not they would be stoppable if they were to turn evil. Pushing the thought away, he waited like the others as Aqua and Kokoa finally pulled back, licking their lips as they did. Moka and Akasha fell against each other with exhaustion as the two drinkers glanced at each other in wonder.
"Who knew." Aqua chuckled. "To think nearly eight years ago, I was trying to get this power to destroy humanity and now I'm getting it for real in order to save humanity."
"Now Oneesama won't be able to beat me in a fight!" Kokoa cheered, pumping a fist in the air.
Moka's pride sparked and she called, "Kokoa." The orange-haired girl turned expectantly and Moka delivered the same flick she had given Tsukune, propelling her sister across the room. "Don't get cocky." The silver-haired girl stated. "Know your place."
Akasha giggled softly before lifting herself into a standing position. "I'm going to go rest. I'm still a bit weak from yesterday."
"Mother, I-." Moka stopped as Akasha held up a hand.
"Don't apologize." The pink-haired woman ordered her gently. "You have nothing to be sorry for. You did just as I told you to. Your training is going very well and I'm proud of you. It takes courage to kill your own mother. Now you get some rest as well. You still look a little tired." Leaning down, Akasha placed a kiss to Moka's forehead before exiting the room.
Kokoa and Aqua smiled at their middle sister and hugged her before leaving as well, taking several members of the harem with them. Only Kurumu and Tsukune remained once everyone else was gone. Kurumu watched Tsukune, Tsukune gazed at Moka and Moka eyed the two of them curiously.
"Is there something the pair of you need?" she inquired slowly, glancing between them.
"Are you feeling alright?" Tsukune murmured softly. "I mean, emotionally? That had to have been a jarring experience, watching your mother kill everyone closest to you."
Moka lowered her head and thought about it for a moment before beckoning both of them closer. Kurumu hesitated half a second before doing so, seeing that Moka was watching her speculatively. Tsukune sat at the edge of the bed and Kurumu remained at the head, near Moka's side.
The silverette took a deep breath and sighed. "To be honest, it wasn't pleasant." she murmured lowly, slowly opening herself up. "I thought that the Shinso blood coupled with dying so many times had driven Mother insane and she didn't know what she was doing anymore. I didn't want to kill her.
"But then, you all showed up. My mind barely had time to process how you got into the barrier before you were dead. The only thought in my head was protecting as many of you as I could, but…"
Moka grew quiet and Kurumu looked to Tsukune, finding her own confusion reflected back at her. Moka took another deep breath, her eyes closed tightly. "I couldn't protect anyone." she whispered. "I couldn't protect any of you because I was too weak to do as Mother had instructed. I thought the entire duty of saving the world had fallen completely on my shoulders because I was too dense to save anyone else to help me."
A tear slowly rolled down her cheek as she murmured, "And then, to find out that it was all a test, a trial simply to prove I was capable of doing anything in order to get the task done… At first I was relieved. I was relieved to know that all of you were alive and unharmed, that I hadn't actually gotten anyone other than Mother killed. But now…"
Bright red eyes opened as she glared between the two of them. "Now, I'm pissed!" Tsukune and Kurumu leaped from the bed as Moka slowly stood, her aura expanding around her, tearing into the bedsheets and lifting the lighter objects around her.
"How could you do that to me?" she whispered dangerously. "You were willing to traumatize me just to be certain I was ready to fight? What kind of friendship is that?"
"We were just trying to help you further your training!" Kurumu called, releasing her claws in case of an attack.
"And if I thought I was hallucinating?" Moka demanded, walking closer, her aura destroying the small things as it strengthened. "If I was so traumatized by what I had done that I refused to believe that any of you were real, what would you have done?"
"We would have snapped you out of it somehow!" Tsukune replied, loosening his lock slightly, not knowing what to expect.
"How?" Moka snorted, her aura suddenly dissipating as she sank to her knees. Kurumu advanced slowly, crouching next to the exhausted silverette. "How would you have made me believe you were real?"
"We're your friends." the succubus sighed, lifting Moka back into bed. "We would have figured something out. Now sleep. We don't need your mom getting on us about your poor health just because you decided to throw a post-traumatic tantrum."
Moka scoffed in contempt as Tsukune and Kurumu bid her a good rest. Settling down to sleep, Moka sighed as she watched the door. After a few moments, a shadow appeared in the crack beneath the door and Yukari entered, giving Moka a quick hug before heading back out.
The silverette smiled and settled down for sleep. Kurumu was right. They were her friends and they cared about her. However, Moka knew that, because of the stunt they had all pulled, it would be quite some time before she slept soundly.
…
Akasha yawned as she made her way to the floor she shared with her old friends. Touhou and Tenmei looked up from their game of chess as she entered. Touhou stood quickly, cocking his head quizzically.
"I'm fine." the pinkette told him calmly, rubbing her arm and working the muscles. "I'm sore, but otherwise, I'm fine."
"And Moka?" Tenmei inquired calmly.
"Traumatized, but not as badly as she could be." Akasha replied.
"So then the test was a success?" Touhou asked. "Moka is now okay with killing?"
"It turns out that she was fine with killing the entire time." the Shinso groaned, stretching her neck. "The whole test was a colossal waste of time. She is capable of killing if killing is needed, but prefers not to considering how messy it can get and unnecessary killing is pointless."
Both men hung their heads, one with a small smile on his face and the other in slight annoyance. "So, we wasted a day of training-."
"I didn't say the test was a complete waste of time." Akasha interjected. "Putting her through such a test also gave her the chance to think about a few things concerning herself, her friends and Alucard. We now have four Shinso vampires, five if you count Tsukune."
"You turned Kokoa and Aqua as well?" Tenmei asked, a thoughtful look crossing his face.
"Aren't you worried about what Aqua will do with that power?" Touhou demanded worriedly.
"She will use it to protect Moka, of course." Akasha murmured, pouring a cup of tea. "All three of them will. Moka is the driving point behind what all of them have been doing, Kokoa and Aqua for several years now. With the help of the Shinso blood, the three of them will make certain that, no matter what the cost, Moka is kept safe. If that means defeating Alucard, then they will be certain to eliminate him any means necessary."
"You've thought over this quite a bit, haven't you?" Touhou smirked at his old friend. The pinkette sat beside him and returned the smirk with a good-natured smile.
"When one lives hundreds of years, she learns to think quite quickly and doing so within the space of ten minutes is a walk in the park." Akasha took a sip of her tea and smiled brightly at her two friends. Moka has wonderful friends and a nice family looking after her. "Alucard will be defeated."
And there you have it. Everything is slowly falling into place in my world. By the way, I cheated. I looked at the manga, but now that I know what happens there, I can more effectively keep on track with my original idea now. Hope you guys liked the chapter!
I'm sorry it took so long and I'm working out a schedule as we speak, but just know, I'm in college and I have work to do so don't expect updates as often as you would want them to be... and don't hold me to any of my updates cause things happen.
Aside from that, just wanted to let you guys know I'm now on Tumblr (gothalbinoangel-fanfiction), Twitter ((a)gothalbinoange1), a Facebook (Goth Albino Angel) and an Archive of Our Own account (GothAlbinoAngel). There are more details on my profile.
