As soon as we got home from, Renesmee raced to each of our bedrooms and packed pajamas and a change of clothes. She paused in the living room and elected five movies: horror for Vern, Action for Jake, a vampire movie for me, Drama for Ben, and a chick flick for herself. Then she was off to the basement game room to grab video and board games.
I stopped her when she started to pack make-up.
"Ness, that's enough. The Cullens have all this stuff times twenty."
Renesmee sighed, "You're right. I'm just excited I can be friends with Alice without feeling guilty," she told me, bouncing in place.
I laughed gently, "I know and I understand." I hugged her tightly, grateful that she was willing to stay away from the Cullens solely because they had hurt me. "Let's go."
We all piled into my car and I drove to the Cullens house, my leg bouncing nervously and my thumbs tapping against the steering wheel the entire time.
"You're here! You're here! You're here! You're here! You're here!" Alice cheered as we parked alongside the pink, Disney princess Volvo. She almost ripped my car door off its hinges in order to get to me quicker.
Alice tore me out of my seat and jumped up and down with her arms around my waist, jostling me.
"Alright," I shouted. "Who gave her the caffeine?"
Emmett - who had joined us on the driveway - raised his hand guiltily. I laughed aloud when Alice turned to attack Renesmee.
"Come on," Alice ordered, fragging us toward the house. "It's about to rain." The others followed quickly at her announcement and it started to drizzle when we reached the front door.
Inside, I wasn't so surprised to find that the Cullen house resembled the one in Forks almost to the tee.
"You guys haven't changed much," Jacob grumbled low enough that a human wouldn't be able to hear. "Shocker."
Alice quickly frowned at him and then grabbed our small duffle bag Vern was carrying. "Follow me, girls," she ordered, marching up the stairs and calling back over her shoulder. "The boys are in the basement. Feel free to join them, Vern, Jacob."
As I followed the pixie like vampire up the spiral staircase, I heard Jacob and Vern searching for the basement door.
I quickly texted them.
Me - thru the kitchen, 2nd door on the left.
Vern - you're a lifesaver Bells
Me - r u calling me round with a giant hole in the middle? ;)
I sent the text with a teasing smile on my own face.
Vern - round? No. Hole? yes
I flinched. Bullseye, bro. Bullseye.
"Bella?" Alice asked, sticking her head out the door I had just realized they had disappeared through. "You coming?"
"What? Oh, yeah. Sorry," I mumbled, stepping through the doorway into her and Jasper's room.
"We're all through here," she grabbed my hand and hauled me into the bathroom where Rosalie and my sisters awaited.
"Attack!" Renesmee shouted and they all pounced.
In less than a minute, they had stripped me of my jeans and long sleeve t-shirt and changed me into white mid-thigh shorts, a light blue cami top, and an oversized purple sweater that hung off my shoulders and ended four or five inches above the bottom of the shorts.
Alice and Ben started in on my hair while Rosalie and Renesmee waged war on my face. In the end, my hair had been braided into a messy bun with curly coils hanging down to frame my face which had been made up with cream and brown eyeshadows and a light pink blush and clear lip gloss on my full lips.
"Perfect!" Alice and Renesmee cheered, looking me over.
"You didn't have to attack me," I informed them, rolling my eyes.
"Yes, yes, we did," Renesmee said, dragging me in her wake on the way to the basement. "You would have protested and argued if we hadn't taken you by surprise."
"Hey, boys," Alice called as we entered the basement. "What do you think?"
We stood before them in our pajamas - which the other girls had quickly changed into before we came down.
Renesmee wore the same as me - only in black and crimson - but had opted to ditch the sweater and keep her hair down.
Ben was wearing Vern's first college sweatshirt and boy shorts; her hair was braided loosely over one shoulder.
Alice and Rosalie both wore short-shorts and camis; their hair up in messy buns.
I saw the boys' eyes almost pop out of their sockets at the sight of their mates and almost laughed until I saw Edward's expression. The pain, sorrow, and longing in his eyes made my smile disappear faster than a vampire after its prey.
Alice noticed and seized my hand, pulling me over to the seat furthest from her brother while shooting him an irritated glare.
"So!" she exclaimed excitedly. "We've already done the makeovers. What shall we do now? Movie? Video game?"
"Make cupcakes?" Jacob suggested and we all raised an eyebrow at him.
"Ignore the bottomless pit," Renesmee suggested. "He just had dinner not more than an hour ago - should be good for another four."
"Ah, but, Ness -" Jacob started to protest.
"Jake, if you eat any more food on top of your regular diet, you'll start to get fat," Ben stated. "And I say that in the kindest way possible," she added to his "kicked-puppy-dog" face.
"No, you didn't," he pouted. "Vern, your wife's being a jerk to me!"
I almost started at the noun, but the Cullens didn't react so I figured it had gone unnoticed.
Vern grinned, "I'll have to buy her new beads as a reward."
"Everyone's against me!" Jake complained, throwing his hands up in the air.
"We still haven't decided what to do!" Alice pointed out irritably.
I snickered, "Sorry, Alice. We're easily distracted."
"How about Truth or Dare?" Vern offered, waggling his eyebrows at me.
"I'm game as long as we set some rules first," I glared right back at him.
He rolled his eyes, annoyed. "Name your price, Swan."
The Cullens winced noticeably, but didn't comment on the fact he used "my grandmother's maiden name."
"First: nothing illegal. We don't want to get arrested," Emmett groaned at my rule.
"And second: absolutely no nudity," I finished, remembering when Jacob got arrested for "swimming" in a river during our brief stay in Wisconsin almost fifteen years ago.
"Fine," Vern growled, glaring. "Truth or dare..." I thought he was about to pick me in revenge of my rules, but his next words surprised me. "Pixie Juniour?"
Alice scowled at the nickname.
"Dare," she snapped, giving him a glare that would a normal human running for the hills.
Vern's grin was evil, "I...dare...you..." he drawled to keep in her in suspense. "To wear polka dots and stripes - in neon orange and ruby red - to school on monday."
I could have sworn I saw Alice's eye twitch.
"Dare accepted," she spat out. "I'll have to go shopping tomorrow but... Truth or dare, Abeni?"
"Truth," Ben shrugged, nonchalant.
"Um," Alice thought slowly for a vampire. She sighed, obviously unable to come up with anything good with Jacob blocking her vision. "How old are you?" she asked regretfully.
Ben flashed her a Miss America winning smile, "Eighteen. Brother Bear," she called Emmett out. "Truth or dare?"
"Dare," Emmett seemed to challenge her with his eyes. "And give me something good."
Ben inspected her nails while she pretended to think. "I dare you to sing - in rhyme - everything you say for the rest of the night."
"Excellent!" Emmett boomed in a singsong voice.
"Did I forget to say in soprano?" Ben asked in an all too innocent voice.
"That's even better! I'll follow your rules to the letter!" he sang in a high, reedy voice. "Jazzy-man! Tell a truth or is it a dare you can?"
"Dare," Jasper rolled his eyes at his brother's antics.
"I dare you, to sing harmony, in alto too, with me," Emmett sang cheerfully.
"Fine," Jasper shrugged, not singing.
"Hey!" Emmett sang and Jasper echoed him in harmonization. "You didn't sing that! Should I make you wear a silly hat?"
"No," Jasper answered, speaking normally. "You said I only had to sing harmony with you."
Emmett looked upset by this news and folded his arms in a pout.
"Jacob, truth or dare?" Jasper raised an eyebrow at the werewolf.
"Dare."
"I dare you to wear one of Alice's old nightgowns."
Alice grinned and dashed upstairs at a human pace, returning a few minutes later with a lacy nightgown.
Jacob stood, pulled off his grey t-shirt, and tugged the nightgown over his head.
"Bella, truth or dare?" he asked once the nightgown was in place.
I knew better than to choose a dare from Jacob. "Truth."
Jacob sighed, shaking his head in disappointment. "Dang it," he muttered as I smiled innocently. "What animal best matches your personality?"
I paused for a minute, thrown off by his completely normal question.
"Lioness," I answered honestly after thinking it through for a minute. I saw all of the Cullens start and Edward was watching me intently now. "Ness, Truth or Dare?"
"Truth," Renesmee replied.
"Who deleted grandma's lullaby off my IPod?"
My siblings all tensed, each of them silently begging her not to answer.
Renesmee gulped. "Um..."
"Remember you have to answer it honestly." I threatened her.
She sighed and met Vern's eyes. "Sorry. Vern did it."
Vern looked scared for his life.
I smiled menacingly. "You do realize it took me five years to get the song perfected? And you just deleted it?"
"Bells, I'm sorry!" He pleaded, "It was an accident, I swear."
"We'll discuss this when we get home," I promised and he seemed to get even more scared.
"Rosalie," Renesmee said quickly. "Truth or Dare?"
"Dare."
"I dare you to kiss Jasper."
Wordlessly, Rosalie got up, kissed Jasper's cheek, and sat back down. "You didn't say where," Rosalie shrugged Renesmee's protests away. "Edward, truth or dare?"
"Truth," Edward answered, still not taking his eyes off mine.
"What is the worst mistake you have ever made?" Silence filled the room as we waited for him to answer.
Edward took a deep breath as he continued to stare into my eyes.
"I broke up with the girl I loved with my entire being in order to protect her. What makes it the worst mistake? I told her she was only an interesting plaything I had grown bored of to make her let go."
A/N:
Hello! Yes, I'm still alive. Sorry it's been so long, been suffering writer's block for this because of the Truth or Dare game. I couldn't come up with anything that would be fun, but still fit my standards.
Anyway, yeah.
Hey, has anyone noticed the picture I put up for this? Gotta love DollDivine.
So, great news! It's my b-day Sunday! Whew! Think my present could be twenty-five reviews? We've come close a couple of times. In fact, I now have over a hundred total!
See you soon hopefully!
P.S. I'm putting up a poll for a story I'm writing. I'm having trouble figuring out which idea is better. Help me?
