Sorry for the second long hiatus. For the longest time, I had writers block for this fan-fiction, so I really didn't know what to do. But a few days ago, I cured my writers block and wrote this chapter. I hope you like it. Enjoy!:
Chapter 11
Meanwhile, Zuri sat in the living room, playing games on her iPad when Gabe, Emma, and Rosie approached her.
"Kid, we need to talk," said Rosie.
Zuri turned off her iPad. "What's going on?"
Emma put a hand on Zuri's shoulder and sat to her right while Gabe and Rosie sat to her left.
"Let's see…how do I put this?" said Emma.
"She wants to cancel your murder mystery web show because the one episode we filmed and posted had dirt low ratings!" said Gabe bluntly.
Emma put her hands on her hip. "Gabe!"
"Sorry!" Gabe put his hands up in surrender.
Zuri wiped the back of her hand across her forehead in relief. "Phew! For a second, I actually thought what Gabe said was true."
"Oh, it is," said Emma. "I just wouldn't have said it the way he did."
"Honestly, I probably would have said it the way Gabe did," said Rosie thoughtfully.
"But I don't get it," said Zuri. "I thought you like my web show idea."
"I did," said Emma. "But the viewers didn't. I mean, I've seen low rating on Kitty Couture, but none as low as your web show."
"Believe me, you're taking this better a lot better than that Luke kid did," said Gabe. "I honestly didn't know that so many tears could flow out of a kid his size."
"But we haven't even solved the mystery yet!" protested Zuri. "Can't we continue the web show just for the sake of solving the mystery?"
"If you want to do that, you'll have to get your own camera, crew, and website," said Emma. "But just remember this: with every TV show or web show, ratings always go down after the first episode."
Zuri looked to Rosie and Gabe for support.
"Come on guys, won't you support me on this?" asked Zuri.
"Sorry, I have to side with Emma on this one," said Rosie.
"Same here," said Gabe.
Zuri stood up and stomped her foot. "Ugh! You all are impossible!" She stormed into the elevator and rode it up to the roof.
The first thing Zuri saw after arriving was an old man sitting in a wooden chair.
"Uh, who are you?" asked Zuri.
The man stood up and offered his chair. "I'm just an old chap who saw your web show from a little while ago. I was you in the credits. You're Zuri Ross, right?"
Zuri nodded as he sat down in the chair. "Oh, are you a fan?"
"Quite the opposite, actually, replied the man.
Suddenly, Zuri felt a rope being tied around her, bounding her to the chair. "What the—"
"Let me ask you a question," said the man once he finished tying up Zuri. "Do these names ring a bell? Jack Long…Derek Grace…Mary Krylan?"
"Yeah," said Zuri slowly. "Derek Grace was the guy who was murdered, Mary was his girlfriend, and Jack was one of the suspects in the murder. But the other suspect was—"
"Me! Chase Green!" said the old man. "For fifty years, I got away with killing Derek, but when I saw your little web show, I got scared that someone may figure out that it was indeed me."
"You do realize that I hadn't solved the mystery yet, therefore you just admitted to the crime," said Zuri.
"Danget!" Chase made an angry fist. "I'm always bad at these things. Oh well, at least now I have a valid reason to kidnap you."
Please let me know what you thought.
