11 Whatever Lies Help You Rest
Jenna came down the stairs just as Rebekah was about to leave the house, her eyes still glued to her phone. "He must really be something. You haven't put that phone away for days."
Rebekah looked up, almost guiltily, like Jenna had just caught her doing something naughty, but said nothing.
"Going to see your secret lover?" Jenna couldn't help it and laughed, Rebekah rolled her eyes.
"There is no secret lover and I'll be back soon." Rebekah slipped out the door before Jenna could tease her any further. Good for Rebekah to have some fun after all the not so fun days around here, Jenna thought happily. She entered the living room and found Klaus and Elijah sitting the same way she had found them the last time, except this time there was no dead girl dripping blood all over the carpet. The stains remained, however.
Elijah looked up and smiled at Jenna. She looked a lot better than before and seemed to be back to her normal self. He was glad about that. "Will you be joining us in our little adventure to the bayou?"
Jenna sat down beside Klaus on the couch, "I'm good with staying here."
"Is this about the other day?" Klaus asked and grinned at Jenna. She threw him a look, "You said we would only talk to them, not threaten bodily harm."
Jenna thought back on their little trip to the bayou. There they had expected to find an exiled pack of werewolves, instead they had found Eve. She didn't look like much at first, but she had a sharp tongue and sharp tongues and Klaus' temperament didn't mix too well.
"I didn't threaten anyone. I was only there to talk about a potential alliance," Klaus defended himself more to Elijah than Jenna. Clearly he had a different understanding of the word threatening. "Besides there was only one woman there and she isn't even a full werewolf."
"What happened?" Elijah asked suspiciously. Klaus rolled his eyes and answered in tone that made the whole thing sound less important than Jenna would have, "Apparently the wolves in the bayou are cursed and can only turn back human on the full moon."
"Marcel had them cursed years ago." Jenna tried not to sound too panicked about the idea of walking around a forest filled with poisonous werewolves, "After recent events, I just don't feel like being near a pack of werewolves."
Elijah nodded sympathetically, but was confused about something. "If they're cursed than who did you talk to?"
Jenna smiled gratefully at Elijah. He got it, he didn't tease her about being overly careful. "We talked to Eve. She's part of the pack, but hasn't triggered the curse that's why she remains human."
Elijah nodded and leaned back into the chair, "And this is why you need Davina, I assume."
"Eve told us, after my non-threatening offer, that they wouldn't help us as long as they were still cursed. Apparently they have enough problems as it is, whatever that may be. Davina unbound Jenna from Sophie, so I guess she could undo the little curse on the wolves. She seemed interested when I talked to her. Although I really don't..."
Jenna cut in, "Eve wanted to meet Davina first. I think she thinks Klaus is lying about having a witch, because of Marcel's no magic policy."
Klaus pulled a face and waved at his brother, "And the little witch won't go without her bodyguard."
"Smart girl," Jenna mumbled.

The compound was packed tonight. All of Marcel's followers had gathered to discuss their move against Klaus Mikaelson. Ever since the Original had come to town along with the two others, uneasiness spread through Marcel's little kingdom. The witches were planning something and at this rate Marcel wouldn't be surprised if the werewolves would start causing problems, too. Although they should still be stuck living their cursed little lives out in the bayou.
Rebekah was there alongside Marcel. At first the idea of having an Original help them against Klaus didn't go over too well with everyone. But all it really took in the end was for Marcel to raise his voice and assure his people that Rebekah was indeed on their side and to be trusted.
"My beloved brothers and sisters, it's almost time." Marcel tried to quiet down the assembly of all his followers and get their attention, "Tonight we will strike and take back what's ours."
A round of applause and whistles went through the crowd, vampires shouting their agreement and encouragements loudly. "By now everyone should know what they'll need to do."
"So what happens after we grab the vampire girl?" Someone from the back shouted out.
Rebekah was the first to answer, "Absolutely nothing."
A murmur went through the crowd, clearly they were thinking otherwise. Marcel stepped forward and held his hands out, "The plan has slightly changed in that regard. Instead of capturing Jenna, we will only make Klaus think we'll have her. It won't change anything."
A meaningful glance passed between Marcel and Diego, but no one seemed to notice that.
"That's right." Rebekah let her eyes wander and dared the rest of the them to contradict her. No one did. "However, my brother will have your heart ripped out faster than most of you will be able to react that's why you shouldn't attack one after another. You have to gang up on him."
Rebekah sat down in a chair and exhaled loudly, "And of course don't get bit."
"Yes, thank you Rebekah." Marcel smiled at his people in encouragement once more, "Now, everyone to their places. It's about to start."
The crowd slowly thinned out and Rebekah came up to Marcel, "What about the Gilberts, will they be here on time?"
"Don't worry, I told you I talked to them, send them the pictures you gave me and they're on their way. By the time I bring Jenna back here, they will be here. Do you have an idea how to get Jenna away from the others?"
"No problem, she should be home alone by now. I'll go in with you and then it's just a matter of convincing her to leave with you."
"If it doesn't work, we'll just snap her neck." Marcel stopped Rebekah before she could reply, "Only as a last resort. She'll be fine, she'll meet her family soon."
Rebekah closed her mouth again and nodded. This was it. Her brothers were distracted, Jenna was alone and if everything went right, they would all be free of Klaus soon.

In the Bayou Davina was getting more agitated. It was one thing to theoretically be helping werewolves, but another thing when they might attack you in the middle of the day. A piece of information she had only received in the car on their way out here. When Klaus had called her and asked for her help she was ready to decline, but after hearing what this was about she was intrigued even without knowing the specifics. She wasn't stupid enough to go anywhere with him alone and insisted Elijah be there.
Performing the spell that undid Sophie's binding magic had made Davina hungry for more. The spells Elijah had brought her were challenging and she was learning new things which led her to wonder how it will all end. The harvest still wasn't complete and the reaping was getting closer. If nothing happened then she would lose her magic and she did not plan on being sacrificed. Better to use it while she still could.
"You can relax. They won't suddenly come jumping out of the bushes and attack you."
Eve appeared from behind a tree. She had walked away from the camp and met them halfway. Davina looked around uneasy, but nodded and tried to smile back. Elijah remained silent and observed the situation.
"I see you really did bring a witch, although a young one."
"She'll do just fine," Klaus assured Eve and looked around, "Still the only one out here?"
"The only one you'll meet." Eve motioned for them to follow her and they did.

Back at the house Jenna was in the kitchen pouring herself some blood when she heard the front door shut and the familiar clicking of Rebekah's high heels approaching.
"Back so soon?" The smile immediately dropped from Jenna's face when she saw who entered the kitchen behind Rebekah, "What is he doing here?"
"He's here to apologize to you, Jenna." Rebekah stood protectively between Jenna and Marcel. Who she was protecting, was unclear.
Jenna shook her head and pointed at her least favorite person in the world, "Wait a minute, is this who you've been texting with? Seriously?"
Marcel stepped closer, but remained behind Rebekah, "I understand that this must seem strange, but I'm really here to apologize. I realize I made a mistake and should have never used you the way I did to get to Klaus. This is between him and me and I apologize for dragging you into this."
She could almost believe it, Jenna thought. His voice was gentle and almost sincere enough to make her want to believe him. He probably made great speeches, no wonder he was so loved by all his followers. Jenna couldn't tell if Marcel really meant it or if he was just doing it for the sake of peace.
"It's Klaus, I'll better take this." She was on her way out of the kitchen and back to the living room, "Don't kill each other."
Jenna crossed her arms in front of her body and stared at Marcel. Right in the eyes. He didn't break eye contact and even dared to smile at her, "What can I do to prove that I really am sorry?"
"I don't trust you." Was all Jenna said with a finality to her voice that made it clear that she wouldn't be talking again until Rebekah returned. So that's how they remained, staring each other down, waiting for Rebekah to return.
"Something went wrong with the werewolves. Klaus wants you to leave immediately." Rebekah touched Marcel's arm. A gesture that didn't go unnoticed by Jenna. "You should leave, too. It's not save for the two of you."
"What? Why? They weren't even gone that long."
"It's Niklaus, what did you expect?" Rebekah grabbed Jenna and dragged her into the living room, "I have to go help my brothers. You two need to get out of here. They won't be able to hurt me, even if they bite me."
Jenna shook her head. She couldn't believe what she was hearing, "You want me to go with him? He tried to kill me!"
Rebekah grabbed Jenna by her arms, "This is not the time for resentment, Jenna. You two need to go now."
"I can take care of myself."
"If werewolves are on their way then we should move. They're not my biggest fans. I keep them out of town, but here they won't hesitate to attack."
Marcel opened the front door and waited for Jenna who was shoved towards him by Rebekah, "Please, just go with him. It's going to be ok. He's here to make up for his mistakes, remember? What better way to prove it than to help you get out of here."
Rebekah could feel Jenna was about to protest again, "Come on, I wouldn't tell you to go if I thought it wouldn't be save. My brother would never let me live that down."
Jenna thought about it for a moment. She didn't trust Marcel. He could apologize all he wanted, the evil glint in his eyes told her a different story. Then again Jenna trusted Rebekah. "Fine, let's go."
Rebekah sighed relieved and smiled over at Marcel, "Now, you take good care of her."
"Don't worry, I will." Marcel stepped aside and let Jenna pass him. Rebekah followed them both outside and watched them get into the car. Jenna hesitated and looked back at Rebekah who smiled encouraging at her. With an uneasy feeling Jenna got into the car and they both drove off.

When the little group arrived at the camp, Elijah noticed immediately how reclusive it was here. Well hidden from intruders, no one would find this place unless they knew what they were looking for.
"So, now you know I really have a witch to help you. Can we talk business now?" Klaus was being impatient as always, so before the situation could get heated, because Elijah doubted Eve was going to back down to his brother, he intervened.
"My brother tells me that you have other problems as well. What else, besides the curse, is wrong?" Elijah asked Eve who appeared to be surprised by the question. She hesitated, but answered him eventually, "There's another pack hanging around not far from here."
"Another pack?"
"Yes, they call themselves the North East Atlantic Pack." While Eve kept explaining this to them Klaus and Elijah shared a look. A silent communication between the two. "They blame us for one of their missing members, but we had nothing to do with that."
"When did the wolf go missing?" Elijah asked and Eve shrugged, thinking back about the nasty encounter she had with one of the members of the other pack, "A week maybe."
"Could be the werewolf Marcel had captured and used to poison Jenna." Elijah noted and nodded, more to himself than anyone else. Davina looked at Elijah. He knew she was the one who unknowingly helped Marcel poison Jenna, but so far he hadn't directly held it against her. Klaus was a different story. She didn't feel like she owed them for anything, but Davina began to think that maybe she had been too naive in following Marcel's orders.
Eve laughed without humor, "Marcel? Of course he would have something to do with this."
"You see, we do have a common enemy. You should really consider joining forces."
"It's like I told you the last time. I have no say in this matter. First we need the curse lifted, then we can talk." Eve explained once again and turned to Davina, "Can you really do it?"
Davina took a moment before answering. It would require a bit research before she could be doing anything. She was more concerned with the consequences. If the curse is lifted the werewolves would return and probably try to attack the vampires and that meant attacking Marcel.
"First I'll need to figure out how that curse was cast, but what will happen after the curse is lifted?"
Elijah was the first one to answer, but he specifically looked at his brother when he did, "Then we talk peace."
Klaus pursed his lips, but remained silent. He had this conversation with his brother last night. Elijah liked to see a change in Klaus' behavior and of course his big brother always tried the diplomatic way. He thought that a peace treaty would be a much better plan than whatever Klaus had in mind. Jenna had agreed, of course. Klaus had gotten the impression that the both of them were in this together somehow, ganging up on him, trying to change his mind. It wouldn't work, but he could humor them for now.
Eve also stayed suspiciously silent. Davina didn't know what to think of that, but she liked the idea of a peaceful outcome. If the different species could agree to live together in New Orleans without trying to kill the other every other day, life would become much simpler and safer. She just wasn't sure where that would leave the witches. The vampires would have to agree to share, the werewolves would be allowed to return, but if the witches lost their power then where would that leave them?

Something was prickling at the back of her neck. It became more intense and soon began to burn. Jenna woke with a start and immediately noticed her confinement. Thick metal cuffs kept her hands and feet chained to a chair. She looked her around wildly, not quite comprehending where she was or what was happening. The last thing she remembered was getting into the car...with Marcel.
Jenna groaned. Of course that bastard did this to her. She knew it was a bad idea, she really needed to trust herself more on these things.
It was getting warmer and more uncomfortable by the second, the burning increased. Jenna looked up and saw a small opening that filtered the sunlight in a way that wouldn't let her feel the full effect of the light. She'd burn if she did. It was only enough to hurt her, not kill her.
"Missing something?" Marcel stepped out of the shadows. Jenna's head snapped up over to him. She hadn't heard him come. Marcel held her daylight ring between two fingers and waved it at her.
"I knew you couldn't be trusted."
Marcel laughed out loud, "You were right."

Rebekah stood a bit off to the side from all the others. She was holding the one of the daggers which were given to her by Jenna in her hands. Deep in thought Rebekah kept staring at it. She was waiting for Marcel and wondering if everything went alright with Jenna and her family. She had stayed behind at the house and waited for a few hours before she came here in case her brothers returned and asked about Jenna.
"You're not having seconds thoughts now."
Marcel came over to her and smiled at her. Rebekah shook her head. She didn't have second thoughts, more like cold feet. She was nervous. What if something went wrong, what if they couldn't beat Klaus? The odds were clearly against her brother, but still Rebekah felt uneasy.
"How did it go with Jenna and her family?"
"Jenna was practically dragged out of here. Elena, I think her name was, has been furious and relieved. Screaming, tears, more screaming. It was quiet the spectacle. Where they are right now, I can't tell you. Maybe on their way back, maybe still in town. All I can say is that they're nowhere near this place."
Marcel had anticipated this question. He wasn't stupid and had really checked out Mystic Falls and its inhabitants through an informant. Elena Gilbert was off to college and only her brother remained in Mystic Falls along with the Salvatores and a few others Rebekah had mentioned. He didn't really know them, but figured from everything Rebekah had told him that their reunion would possibly go down like he said.
Rebekah thought about that, but nodded. She was sure it wasn't easy finding out your aunt still lives while you keep mourning and missing her. Had they felt abandoned and betrayed? Rebekah felt almost bad for going behind Jenna's back like that, but in the end it was for the better. With her out of the way, she couldn't get hurt.
"Maybe I should call her and explain."
Marcel immediately negated the idea, "Give them a bit time first. You can call her tomorrow when it's all over. I'm sure she'll understand."
"I suppose you're right." Jenna probably had enough problems at the moment and Rebekah didn't want to hear the well deserved lecture she would most likely receive. Jenna would understand, eventually, that this was something that had to be done. In a way she was saving her from Klaus, Rebekah was sure of it. One day she'll understand.
"Alright, you stay up here with the others. I'll make the phone call now."
"Why can't you do it here?"
Marcel grinned, "I have someone...special in the back who will help convince your brother that I have Jenna.
"Who's that?" From Rebekah's monotone voice Marcel figured she wasn't really interested in his answer. Good, he thought, that makes it easier. "Just some werewolf girl..."
"The one you used to poison Jenna with?"
"Yes." No need for Rebekah to know that the werewolf had died almost immediately after Davina had performed her magic on her. "A few well placed screams should me make my point."
Rebekah nodded, she wasn't quite there it seemed. She kept on twirling the dagger between her finger.
"Why did you bring that?" Marcel asked, pointing at the dagger in her hands.
Rebekah answered without taking her eyes off the dagger, "I know it can't hurt my brother. It's more symbolic for all the times he had used it on me...I guess."
"As long as you're ready to use it." Marcel kissed Rebekah on the cheek, then left.

Davina sat in the car watching the two Originals talk. She couldn't hear them, but they seemed to be discussing something Eve had mentioned earlier.
"The North East Atlantic Pack is here. What do you think they want?" Elijah appeared troubled by this new information.
"What are you so worried about?" Klaus asked, but he knew of course. A thousand years ago the alpha of the North East Atlantic Pack had had an affair with Esther and Niklaus had been the result of that. Sure there must still be some descendents of the alpha left within the pack.
"I doubt they're here for a family reunion, but this could still work in our favor." The gears in Klaus' head were starting to turn and Elijah noticed this with concern.
"What are you thinking?"
"I don't know yet, but I'll let you know. You should probably bring Davina home now before she'll be missed." Klaus smiled to himself and began to walk off towards home. Maybe he could use this to his advantage. They were family after all.
