So I've got my tickets to Furious 7. Do you?
"Uh, Dom..."
"Do-om..."
"Dom, bro, wake up..."
"Dom!" Someone shook his shoulder a little harder and Dom jolted awake, taking a moment to realize where he was as he was. Vince, Leon, Jesse and Brian were staring down at him, all of the boys grinning except Jesse, who moved away first and went over to the fridge to grab a bottle of water. The younger boy didn't look particularly happy as he leaned against the kitchen bench and unscrewed the lid off the bottle. There was a warm weight on his chest and he looked down at Letty, who was still fast asleep. His arm was curved around her waist, and her shirt had ridden up slightly, so that his hand was resting on her smooth skin.
"Let," he murmured, squeezing her hip where his hand laid. "Letty. Girl, wake up." The boys backed away as the Latina opened her eyes and yawned. She jolted slightly as she realized where she was, pushing herself off Dom and sitting down on the couch next to him. He stood up, stretching out his legs and arching his back. "Shit," he groaned as he tried to work out the kinks of sleeping on a cramped couch. The boys were all still staring at them and Letty raised an eyebrow.
"What? You never seen a sleeping girl before?" She shot at them, clearly not a morning person from the nasty glare she was giving all of them.
"It's not that," Vince grinned. "Just never seen a sleeping girl who still has all her clothes on around Dom. You're loosing your touch, bro," he grinned and reached down to punch Dom lightly on the shoulder. Leon laughed and Letty rolled her eyes. "Nah, here," he held out a bag for her. "We went and got you breakfast." She took it warily and looked inside, seeing a muffin at the bottom of the bag.
"Where's mine?" Dom asked indignantly and Leon snorted.
"Still at the store, probably," he laughed.
"Your face isn't as pretty as hers," Brian grinned as the boys turned around and left the kitchen.
"Although that shiner isn't too pretty," Jesse stated, the only one left in the small room with them. The grin dropped from Dom's face as he remembered the rest of the events from last night and looked down at the girl. Her face was tilted downward, with her long hair falling around it, and he reached down to take her chin and forced her to face him. Her left eye was bruised black and purple and he felt anger burn in his stomach. "Was it Owen?" Jesse asked, locking his jaw as he stared at his friend.
"Damn right it was Owen," Dom snapped. "And we were going to have that talk. Now would be a good time for that talk."
"Dom, I really just want to go home," Letty sighed, standing up and looking around for her heels.
"Not until we talk," he insisted.
"Dom—"
"Hey, Dom, I'm gonna grab the books before I go to work, I can get started on my break." Mia's voice bounced around the room, as the youngest Toretto came in. She stopped in surprise as she saw her friend. "Letty! What are you doing he—" she did a double take as Letty turned in her direction and she got a full view of her face. "What the hell happened to you?"
"Nothing," Letty claimed.
"Owen," Dom and Jesse announced over her. Mia sighed.
"Giselle called last night looking for you," she said. "She said you didn't go home after work."
"Yeah, I better get home," Letty said. She had found her shoes, and was holding them in one hand, her fingers hooked around the back straps. "Can I get a ride with you?"
"Letty, wait—"
"Please?" Letty interrupted Dom, not bothering to look over at him, keeping her eyes on Mia. Her expression was strained and Dom bit back his retort, not wanting to push her too hard.
"Uh," Mia looked between her brother and her friend, trying to gauge the situation. Letty's gaze was intense, pleading, as she stared at Mia, and finally Dom sighed and shook his head, rubbing a hand over his shaved head. "Okay, sure thing. My car's out front." Letty nodded gratefully and pushed past her, heading toward the front door of the garage. "Dom, she probably just needs a good rest. Now isn't the time."
"It's fine, Mia," Dom told her, his voice tight. "Just get her home safe." Mia nodded, turning on her heel and following after the other girl. Jesse was still leaning against the bench, watching his friend with slightly narrowed eyes. "Nothing happened, Jess."
"Yeah, I know," he muttered. "But do you want it to?" Dom considered it for a moment before nodding.
"Yeah," he nodded. "Typical, right? First girl I actually want to get to know, rather than just fuck, and she comes with all this drama." Jesse cracked a smirk for the first time that morning and tilted his bottle of water at Dom.
"Best things don't come easy."
"Oh yeah?" Dom raised an eyebrow and snorted as he walked over to the younger boy, grabbing his own bottle from the fridge. "And since when did you become all wise and all knowing?"
"I've been eavesdropping on you and the boys for years," Jesse began. "But then I realized you guys were all full of shit—" he ducked as Dom lazily reached out a hand to slap him on the back of his head. "And so I started listening to Mia and Letty, and I actually learnt a thing or two!"
"Suck up," Vince announced as he walked into the room. "Hope you're at least getting blown for brown nosing like that."
"Not all of us need an incentive to be nice!" Jesse shot back as he pushed away from the bench and headed toward the lounge. Vince looked across the room at Dom, a smirk on his face.
"So you like this girl, brother?"
"Maybe," Dom muttered, shrugging.
"I saw it in your face when you looked at her this morning," Vince laughed. "That girl has you chasing your tail, running after her."
Mia understood Letty's need to be alone, and after asking if there was anything else she needed or wanted, she had left her in peace. Letty had a long shower, running the hot water all from their tank, and when she got out, she felt a little better. She had slept surprisingly well, given the awkward situation they had been in, and it had felt nice to be held. It had been a long time since she had had that. Sure, her and Owen screwed, and it felt good, some of the time, but on the rare occasion that they actually fell asleep together, she shuffled to the other side of the bed to create as much space between them as possible.
With Dom, she like him holding her close, one arm under her head, cushioning her, while the other one was around her waist, his hand splayed out over her rib cage.
Giselle didn't come home until late afternoon, and Letty was sitting her usual spot on the balcony, a cigarette in her hands. Giselle came out, saw the bruise on Letty's face and sighed, going back into the kitchen to get a bag of frozen peas and wrapping it in a cloth before coming back out.
"Have you been keeping that iced?" She asked as she handed it over. "It's going to last a lot longer if you haven't been. And if you tell me that you didn't fucking castrate that asshole for this, then I'm going over there to do it myself." Letty took the peas and pressed them against her eye, wincing at the cold. Giselle leaned against the railing and shook her head. "I'm fucking serious, Let. This has gone way too far."
"I know," Letty murmured. Giselle's mouth snapped shut in surprise at Letty agreeing with her. She finally recovered, her eyes softening slightly. She reached out and touched Letty's hand, giving it a squeeze before taking in a deep breath.
"Glad you agree," she said. "So what are we going to do?"
"I don't know, G," Letty licked her lips before taking another drag from her cigarette. "I honestly don't know."
"You're not alone in this," Giselle said quietly.
"I know," Letty breathed as she lowered the frozen peas from her face, giving her skin a chance to warm slightly before changing hands and putting the peas back on her eye.
"You know Jesse can help," Giselle offered. "And I'll do whatever I can. And I know the same goes for Dom," she added the last part with a sly smile. Letty rolled her eyes, and then cringed at the pain that twinged above her left one.
"I have a feeling things are going to turn to shit pretty quickly," Letty murmured.
"Babe," Giselle shook her head and reached over to touch her face softly, just above where Letty was holding the peas. "Things have already turned to shit."
"I know, but I was never worried...I wasn't worried about anyone else before. He never had any reason to go after anyone else," Letty shook her head. "And then fucking Dom had to go and get all macho last night and punch him, and it's not like Owen to just let something like that go." Giselle pursed her lips together but then gave a cheeky smile.
"He acted all macho because he wanted to protect you," she nudged her friend in the side. Letty rolled her eyes and elbowed her friend in the side. "What, it's true. He's into you." Letty swallowed hard and shook her head.
"I'm really not in the place to be starting new friendships."
"I don't think he's after your friendship," Giselle added with a grin.
"I'm serious, G," Letty muttered.
"So am I!" Giselle protested. Letty shot her a look and Giselle expression became somber. She dropped her hand from where it was touching Letty's shoulder to her hand, squeezing her friends tightly.
"Hey," she murmured. "We're going to get through this. All of us, okay?"
Now two things that have made me feel all happy this week...The first thing would be the fact that after almost three years of begging, my hubby finally let me get a kitten! I'm a cat person, he's a dog person, it's been a point of contention for a while. Haha. But then when we got to the SPCA, he fell in love with another one, so we ended up taking two home! So the new editions to our family are Han and Leia—yeah, yeah, we're Star Wars nerds.
The second thing is GallaVich. OhmyGOD, GallaVich. So if one of you guys out there aren't watching Shameless then I'm completely disappointed in you. I support both GallaVich teams, and I do hope that Lip and Mandy get back together. But Ian and Mickey. Ian and Mickey just kill me every time. They are such an incredible, unconventional couple and they just get me in the feels every single time.
