Chapter Eleven

Rebekah cried out as she looked down at her chest, the wooden stake piercing through her chest having narrowly missed her heart. She hissed as she reached up, her blistered hand closing around the stake as she slowly withdrew it from her body. Her eyes flashed black as she looked up, her eyes focusing through the low visibility to see a group of men hiding in the trees by the grass verge. Only mere seconds passed as Rebekah's vision started to fade and she looked down to her chest to see a gaping, puss filled wound blistering below her. Wolfs venom.

She heard the piercing scream before she saw the victim. Lifting her head slightly she looked at Hayley on the river bed clutching her stomach, her hands covered in blood.

"Hayley!" Rebekah cried, the sound more muffled than she would have hoped. So quiet that only a vampire would have heard it.

As her vision became blurrier, Rebekah could do nothing but watch the scene unfold in front of her. The darker the sky grew, the darker her vision became. Bonnie's heart beat was slowly fading away before her as her lifeless body began floating further and further away down the lake, the stake still protruding from her chest. She looked back up to the river bank and pushed her body to focus as she painfully trudged through the water, pushing Caroline along with her.

Hayley gulped as her hand reached her throat and she fell to her knees, a painful thud being produced as she made contact with the hard ground. Katherine was beside her, grasping hold of her shoulders and keeping her steady as she looked at the wolf in front of her. Katherine growled, turning to her left as the culprits finally came out of the shadows. Her eyes flashed black as she stood, facing the group of new vampires that had appeared before her.

"Well if it isn't the witches little helpers" She growled, stepping in front of Hayley in a protective stance before flashing forward, her hands quickly reaching into the chests of two of the vampires and ripping them out, a smirk on her face as they fell to the floor in front of her. Acting quickly she flashed behind the third vampire and bit into his neck, draining him of his blood in seconds. Hearing desperate coughs she was distracted for a second by the blood pouring from Hayley's mouth as she writhed in pain on the floor.

Turning back to the last three vampires she smiled.

"Let's finish this shall we" She growled, but before she could flash forward she cried out, her hands finding her forehead as she too fell to the floor. Looking up, her fangs protruded as Davina stepped out of the shadows, her hands raised and a chant slipping from her mouth.

Rebekah watched as Katherine fell to the floor and she felt the heat radiating from Caroline, her hands burning even more than before. "Nik where are you" She cried as her vision faded to black and her grip began to loosen on Caroline as her body became weaker and weaker. She felt Caroline shifting away from her in the water and with one last look to the river bank she fell under the water, her blonde hair becoming just a shimmer.

Davina looked down at Katherine with a glimmer in her eye as she moved past her, the two remaining vampires trudging behind Hayley as she continued to choke on her blood. But Davina wasn't paying any attention to her; she was solely focused on the small blonde haired body that was floating towards the river bank.

Caroline's heart beat was becoming weaker and weaker and Davina pulled her towards the river bank, waiting until she was only ankle deep in the water. Davina continued to chant as the wind picked up around her, she pulled a knife out from her pocket and a small smile found her lips as she roughly turned Caroline over in the water, wincing slightly at the burn that also affected her. Ripping the small t-shirt that covered Caroline's deepening wound she smiled as she held the knife at the centre of it. The wind was sweeping through her hair and Hayley stopped choking as she watched the witch in front of her.

She screamed loudly one last time, hoping for Caroline to hear her and move but she was too late as Davina reached up and plunged the knife deep into Caroline's wound. As soon as the knife made contact she awoke from the deepened trance and screamed as she felt the burning truly from within her body, instead of within her mind.

Davina pulled the knife out and turned Caroline over roughly.

"I'm sorry Caroline; I wish it didn't have to be you to be the death that would teach Klaus a lesson. But unfortunately for you I keep my promises, you have to be collateral damage" She whispered but before she could plunge the knife into her heart the smell of blood filled her airways and it wasn't Hayley's. She looked up behind her to see Klaus dropping the lifeless body of Sophie to the ground as his eyes flashed yellow and his fangs protruded.

"And here I was thinking you were a clever young witch" He growled before the air picked up around him and the sound of waves caught her attention. Looking behind her she saw a darker figure retrieving the bodies of Rebekah and Bonnie from the river and he turned to her and smiled.

"Hello darling, I'm sure this will be my pleasure" Kol smiled, before flashing out of the water and back towards his brother. Elijah flashed out of surrounding tree's and caught her attention on the other side of the river, which finally allowed Katherine to jump back up and snap the necks of the two remaining vampires. She grabbed a hold of Hayley's shoulders, smirking at Elijah before flashing off out of sight, Hayley in tow. Kol fed Bonnie his blood as he ripped the stake from her chest and Klaus leant down offering his wrist to Rebekah.

"I think it's time we finish this now, don't you Davina?" Elijah asked as he flashed towards Davina. She plunged the knife deep into Caroline's chest, painfully having missed her target before she closed her eyes and disappeared from in front of them.

Davina rose from her chair and rushed out onto the balcony, smiling as she saw Katherine flash into the courtyard with Hayley in her arms. Hayley was slipping in and out of consciousness but she still knew of her surroundings.

"Very good acting Katherine, I'm impressed" Davina smirked as she walked down the steps, pulling the second knife from her pocket.

"I'm talented at many things. Now shall we get this over with? I don't plan on getting caught by the Mikaelson clan and they won't be far behind us" Katherine spat as she held Hayley up, her arms under around her chest as Hayley looked forward at Davina.

"Stay away from me!" Hayley screamed as she writhed against Katherine's grip.

"I'm sorry but I can't do that. I'm sure you've figured out by now how this is going to end. You're a rather intelligent wolf if I recall" Davina smirked as she closed in on her, her hand reaching forward and resting on her bulging stomach.

"I'll kill you, stay away from her, she's just a baby." Hayley cried as tears started racing down her cheeks, her heart beat picking up as panic spread through her. She looked into Davina's eyes one last time before she choked, but not without seeing the shock in Davina's eyes.

Katherine smirked as she looked up at Davina, her hand holding the knife that had plunged into Hayley's stomach. She let go of the girl and withdrew the knife, looking down as blood poured from the stomach of the wolf.

"Surely you haven't heard of my reputation. As if I was going to let you take the power from that baby to use against me. I wanted that baby dead but I was never going to let you have her or her powers. Now, if you'll excuse me, it's time to get my alibi" Katherine winked before pulling out a stake and piercing it through her chest, her breath hitching as she fell to the floor besides Hayley.

Klaus flashed forward, grabbing a hold of the knife and pulling it swiftly out from Caroline's chest. Her eyes slipped backwards in her head and he held the base of her neck as he pulled her up, her head resting against his chest as he bit into his wrist, wincing slightly as her skin burnt his hand. Resting his hand above her mouth he stroked the bottom of her wet hair and tightened his grip.

"Drink this love." He whispered as his felt his blood slowly dripping into her mouth and her heart beat quickening again.

"Niklaus we need to find Hayley immediately" Elijah spoke up from behind him and Klaus nodded, looking back towards his siblings. Rebekah had still not awoken and neither had Bonnie and his eyes flashed yellow as he reached his hands around both Caroline's back and her thighs and lifted her up into his chest.

"Let's end this"
