Chapter Eleven: Arriving

As I walked out of the fairy's fountain, Spirit Link spiraled out.

"What are we, or rather you, going to do about this other spirit?" He asked. I replied that I was planning on letting the prophecy take care of itself and Spirit Link just stopped and stared. I didn't notice, though, until he managed to impede my progress. I asked what was bugging him, but in reply, he started marching towards some destination.

He eventually led me to a forest and dove right in without hesitation. I followed him, somewhat less sure. After a while, we reached a pedestal for a sword. I then asked him why we were here.

"I thought that maybe you could get to the sacred realm from here." He explained. I might have flipped out on him. He gave me a duh look.

"Did you really believe that I would just take you to some spot in the forest and tell you to punch a hole through the walls of our dimension?" He asked, in a 'don't be stupid' tone.

"I took you here because I thought that it might be more dimensionally flexible." He explained. He then became quiet so that I could extend my senses. He was right, this place was dimensionally flexible. I noticed one particularly weak spot where the pedestal was.

I then took a good long look at the Master Staff and noticed that the magics of this place seemed to compliment the Master Staff's natural magics very well. Focusing on my goal, the Master Sword, I willed it to shift back to its original state. I expected this quick and dirty type of magic to be exhausting. To my surprise, though, it actually shifted without using any of my energy.

"Did you know that you could do that?" Spirit Link asked. I shook my head before turning to him, an idea forming in my head. Spirit Link was rather old for a ghost, especially a ghost who didn't know how to expend huge amounts of energy.

"What are you looking at me like that for?" He asked, uncertainty. I explained my idea to him.

"You want me to possess you?" He yelled, "Why in the world would somebody want to be possessed? That might just be the dumbest idea I have ever heard of!" I explained that it wasn't a possession. It was a process called merging, typically used to get a ghost to move on, but that I wanted to merge with him in order to tap into his energy that he had collected over the years.

"How is it different from a possession?" He asked, still rather torqued by the idea. I explained that in a possession, a ghost or other spiritual entity tried to completely take over a person's body, but in merging, that the two entities worked together and shared the body. He then nodded in understanding and what I hoped was acceptance.

"So, what do I need to do?" He asked. I explained that possessions and mergings always started by occupying the same physical space, so he nodded and walked behind me before walking into me. I took down my defenses, and it just sort of happened. Afterward, we walked over to the pedestal and inserted the sword. A wave of blue quickly exploded and washed over everything. When the wave had finished, we separated.

"So that was merging?" Spirit Link asked. I explained that it was, but that it went more smoothly and quickly then I had heard of it happening while I put my defenses back up. I extended my senses again and felt a familiar presence a fair distance away. I started to walk toward the presence.

"Are we just going to leave the Master Sword there?" Spirit Link asked. I explained that to take the Master Sword up again would end the spell, and that by making the temporary sacrifice of not having it, we had essentially locked the door and kept the key in. He nodded his understanding. As I got closer to the presence, I felt more familiar presences pop up. After about an hour, we ran across Lycaon.

"What are you doing here again?" He asked, moodily. I was beginning to think he was always in a bad mood. I explained we were here to see Hylia and he shook his head and led us to Alpha. He smiled after giving Lycaon a confused glance. I explained our reasons for being here to him. Alpha nodded his understanding and called Trax over.

"Trax, I want you to make sure these two make it to Her Grace's cave." Alpha said, before turning to us.

"Trax is going to take you Her Grace, but I feel it only fair to warn you that his mode of transportation can be very nauseating." I thanked him for the warning and then looked for Trax. He was in a bubble of solitude, his head bowed and his eyes closed. After a minute, he opened his eyes and slapped his head up, followed by him shoving his hands out as a loud whistle sounded. A ghost image of something came down and passed through him. As it did so, it became solid and I shook my head in wonder and awe.

"We former heroes mange to pick up one or two pretty neat tricks once we die." Chronos explained with a shrug, to which I simply nodded and walked over to Trax. He guided me on how to get on the 'train' as he called it. He blew the whistle as it started to move and it slowly picked up speed the further along we went. Eventually, it got to its top speed. Trax did something before coming over to visit us.

"Isn't dangerous to leave the train unattended?" Spirit Link asked as he entered.

"Nah, the spirit train can guide itself." Trax responded. I took a look at his sword and I noticed that it wasn't the Master Sword, so I asked him about it.

"Yeah, I didn't get the Master Sword because during Zephyr's time as hero, the then king of Hyrule sealed everything to do with Hyrule underneath the sea." He explained. He went on to tell us about the dimension that he came from. I shook my head. I could hardly imagine such a place, especially the lack of magic and knowledge about the three goddesses.

"Imagine my surprise when I woke up here after I had died." He said. I nodded in empathy. I was familiar with the feeling of having your life flip upside down in an instant. Trax checked outside the window.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, we're nearing our destination." He said, standing up. We nodded and he slipped out. The train came to a stop and we got out.

"I'll be waiting for you when you're done." Trax said. Again, we nodded.
