Chapter 6: Tim

Jessie had been stressed out enough as it was this morning. First they had run out of coffee and tea so she had nothing warm to drink that morning and then the car stalled while she and Emily were on their way to the meeting hall. They had to call a tow truck to bring it to a mechanic and then walk the rest of the way seeing as how they could not hail a cab to save their lives. This had made them a good half-hour late for the meeting. Ludwig had not been impressed. All this led up to Jessie and Emily having to file old records from meetings. This also meant that they would be staying late and therefore they would have to go out for fast food for dinner. Jessie was currently taking a break in one of the empty meeting rooms in the large building. Emily had decided to stay in the records room for another little while.

The room was quiet, peaceful. Jessie enjoyed it; it had been a long and hectic day. She had not been there for more than five minutes when who should happen to walk in but Tim. Jessie had seen and heard Emily arguing with the man many times because of his smoking habits, but she herself did not mind him. Tim had not noticed her sitting in the room at first, but as he neared the large, round table he greeted her and took a seat across from here as he lit up his pipe. "I hear you got filing duty from Ludwig. That sucks the big one!" Tim chuckled as he began to smoke on his pipe. Jessie noticed it had a strange smell, she was unable to place it. "Yeah. Ugh! I just wish this day was over with already! I still need to go the mechanic's and the grocery store! By the time we get out of here they'll probably be closed!" Jessie exclaimed, letting her head fall onto the desk. "You need to relax. Everything will be fine!" Tim offered as he propped his feet onto the table and leaned back in the chair, all the while holding his pipe between his lips. Jessie let out a small groan, the last thing she needed was for someone telling her that she needed to be more relaxed. Tim chuckled and sighed, resting his head on the back of the chair. This is when he got an idea. He would show Jessie just how nice it was to relax. He took a spare pipe out of his jacket and filled it with some pot. He then lit it up and handed to Jessie, letting out a small grunt and a "Here" as he did so to catch her attention. Jessie looked up, noticing the pipe being handed towards her. "I don't think so." Jessie stated while giving Tim a skeptical look. "C'mon! Just try it! Think of it as an anxiety medicine! No more worries or stress!" Time exclaimed while grinning. Jessie considered this for a moment, then deciding she had nothing to lose and that this day could not possibly get any worse she took the pipe from Tim and placed it in her mouth. At first the choked a little and coughed, but soon enough she got used to the smoke. That is when she recognized the smell. It was most definitely pot.

Soon enough, the herb started to have its effect. Jessie became more relaxed and calm. Tim sat across from her enjoying his own pipe. Jessie had rarely felt this relaxed and she was beginning to worry. It was an unnatural feeling for her and she did not like it one bit. She soon became a little uneasy and paranoid, what if this feeling of utter relaxation never went away? What if she felt like this all the time? She just felt so helpless now. This is when she began to panic. Soon enough she had gone into full on panic mode and began to hyperventilate, dropping the pipe on the ground. Tim, noticing this, but not fully comprehending the situation also began to panic. He thought she was having some sort of allergic reaction. Man was he in shit! He quickly made his way to some of the windows to let in the nice cool breeze and fresh air, he then raced over to Jessie who was clutching her chest. Her eyes were wide as saucers and her breathing heavy and ragged. He wrapped an arm around her and led her over to the window.

Once Jessie got some of the cool air into her lungs she calmed down a bit, but the unnerving calm was still there. Tim decided it was best to get her out of the room altogether. So he slowly led her down the hall and out to the front of the building, where Emily just so happened to be waiting. It seems she had finished the filing and was just about to go looking for Jessie. Tim wanted to avoid a fight with her for the moment given the current situation. When Emily saw them walking towards her she cocked an eyebrow, wondering how the two had ended up together and why Jessie looked like a complete wreck. "Here, she's not feeling well. You should take her home." Was all he said before handing a dazed, wide-eyed Jessie over to Emily and leaving. "What happened to you? You were gone for like an hour!" Emily exclaimed while wrapping an arm around her friend. That's when she smelled it, the unmistakable scent of pot clung to Jessie's clothes and was coming off in waves. She put two and two together and decided she would chew Tim out later, right now she had to find a cab and get the poor girl home and in bed.
