Alright guys, you probably hate me right now, and I would not blame you. This chapter I am going to try and make extra long, since I have been gone so long, and get going with the story. There are going to be some time skips, because what I want to happen is not going to happen in the span of the three days they are on the island. I do have questions on pairings though. Obviously this is a Kagome/Atem(Yami) story, but there are going to be other pairings. Who do you guys see being together? Cause I see Mai/Joey, Tea/Kaiba or Serenity/Kaiba. But let me know what you think, almost anything is possible. Just leave your vote in a review for me, that would be great.

Now, I hope you are all ready for this next chapter.

Cause here it is.

The duel against Panic was interesting to say the least. Kagame had no problem keeping her cool and fighting against the clown faced jerk and his dark monsters. Her deck was primarily either light monsters, or her special demon cards.

The ending of the battle is when things got a little... heated.

"Lets duel"

They both got onto the stadium, standing on the rising platform, facing each other with the enlarged battle field in font of them.

"You will know fear, little girl" Panic goaded at her. "You will fear the dark."

"I highly doubt anything you throw at me will be anything to be scared of." she replied confidently with a smirk. "Facing down horrors are what I do best." Panic just ground his teeth and placed down his deck. "How many star chips?"

"How about winner takes all" he suggested. Kagome nodded.

"Doesn't seem fair, but when I win, you will be gone" she said and placed down all of her star chips. As soon as that happened, two metal cuffs snatched both of her ankles, holding her in place and unable to move around the platform. Or run. "Resorting to tricks to keep you victims. Must not have been popular with the ladies, if the cuffs say anything" There was a snicker from down below, probably Joey, but Panic looked outraged.

"Shut up you bitch! You will learn to fear me, to fear the dark things in the night."

And with that the duel began.

"Nothing you say or do is going to be able to scare me Panik." Kagame yelled out as she placed her deck and pulled her first five cards. "Get ready to lose."

"When you face me there is more to lose than just the duel." Panic cackled. She heard the spark first and suddenly two jets of fire were headed her way. She ducked as low as she could, feeling the heat instantly break a sweat on her brow, but nothing was burned.

"Kagome!" she heard them all yell.

"Whats the matter Kagame, can't take the heat?" Panik laughed. "Well get used to it, because you're strapped in for the long haul."

"Turn it off Pank!" yelled out Joey.

"Panic Used those on me, too" Mai said sadly.

"Stay strong, Kagame" she heard Yami say over the sound of the flames flying past. When they stopped, she stood up and wiped her brow, a growl in her throat.

"I can see if fear growing in your eyes and hear you quaking in your shoes." Panik said to her. "You're beginning to realize the nightmare you stepped into!"

"Forget this guy, Kagame. This wasn't part of the job description." Joey shouted up to her.

"Yeah, no joke." agreed Tristan. "Come on, thats get you down from there Kags"

"Are you finished with the drama, Panik?" Kagame asked him, a smirk on her lips. She heard the others gasp in disbelief. Everyone except for Bakura and Yami. "Its gonna take more than a candle flame and circus side displays to make me fear you, Panik. You don't know the meaning of fear." Panic just started laughing.

"The last time someone had the nerve to talk to me like that, I broke them in half!" he shouted. "Now lets duel"

We started with he normal 2000 life points each and both had 5 cards.

"Seeing as how the fire of my blaze didn't faze you, let's turn down the lights." he said and placed a card down. "My Castle of Dark Illusions will turn this duel into your darkest hour, Kagome. It's magic shrouds the field with a veil of shadows, and the castle itself is extra fortified, thanks to the field power bonus i get for playing it at night!"

"I'm not afraid of the dark, Panik."

"you would be if you only knew the fearsome nightmares within its shade! The blanket of shadows cast over my entire side of the field make it impossible for you to see the creatures I summon in the dark, but leaves your entire side exposed and vulnerable to my attacks. Unnerving, isn't it, Kagome, how the darkness preys on your fears, on your mind until you're too scared to think, to terrified to fight!" He chuckled darkly as the shadows decended from the castle and covered his field. Even on the screen below her own cards, she couldn't see anything on his side of the board.

"Don't listen to him Kagome. This is exactly how he threw me off my game!" Mai shouted up to her.

"And if you think you can storm my castle with the help of a field power bonus of your own, think again. because Just as my shadow block the light from above, they've blocked the field power from the ground below. Only the night grants bonuses here."

'Without knowing whats in the shadows is going to make it a little bit more difficult to attack. There has to be a way for me to light up his side of the field for just a moment of time. Maybe then I can defeat him. Lets play it safe for now till then.'

"I summon Howling Wolf in defense mode." a large brown wolf with red eyes appeared on the field howling up at the sky, 1000 atk/1100 def.

"Not a very bright idea" she cackled. "Attack, Dark Grasp of Furry!"

A shadowed hand reached out and pulled the wolf in, there was the sound of a struggle, a whimper and then the destruction of Howling Wolf. Kagome gasped at the sudden attack.

'I can't fight if I can't see his monsters, but the only way to do that is to destroy his castle of Dark Illusions, and with its defensive points set at 2500, there are only a few monsters in my deck that can face it, but the chances of pulling them from the deck and summoning them were slim. I need something else. This will have to do for now.'

"I summon Twin Headed Dragon in defense mode" A large brown dragon with two heads and four sets of claws appeared. They had a saddle on their back and a mane of dark green hair. 1300 atk/ 1200 def.

"This defensive maneuvering may keep you life points safe from one monster, Kagome... but not two!" he summoned a second monster.

'I hate to admit it, but he is right. I can only do so much with defense, and its not going to win the duel.'

"Your terrified, aren't you? All your courage has been devoured by my shadowy fog!"

"Don't listen to him Kagome." she heard Yami yell up to her. "You can do this! Just trust in the heart of the cards." Kagome looked over at him and smiled. He nodded back in encouragement.

'Wait, if Im not able to attack the castle itself, can I attack the shadows and darkness itself?'

"Twin Headed Dragon, Lightling Ball attack!" The dragon lifted into the air, all four paws had a blue flame surround them, lifting it up into the air. It shot balls of lightning at the ground on Paniks side of the field and she saw the monsters. They were horrible looking, but she new now what they looked like and what their attack strength was.

"So you saw my creatures. But I doubt it gives you the foresight to see whats coming next. Dark Grasp of Fury!" Twin headed dragon was pulled into the shadows and destroyed. Kagome took damage on her life points, dropping them to 1600. "My creatures hungrily eye your remaining life points, Kagome. And I'll see to it that they feed again quite soon."

'As long as that shadow is covering the field, things are going to be more difficult.' suddenly Kagome was smirking. 'If I can pull it off, I might just be able to destroy him.'

"Keep struggling Kagome, bullying's so much more fun when you resist!"

"Tough talk for someone who hides in the shadows. Tell me, do you hide in the shadows for your monsters sake or for your own?" A jet of fire flared a moment, but it burned her hand. She cried out in pain and clenched her hand with the other.

"Kagome!" the group all yelled up to her. Yami looked like he was about to jump onto the platform with her.

"I'm fine, its just a small burn." she told them.

"You uppity little cretin! Perhaps you should think twice before you insult someone who can scorch you with a touch of a button, huh?"

'I should learn to keep my mouth shut, but if Naraku wasn't able to kill me, he won't be able to either.'

"You're afraid, Kagome, lost and alone in the dark, and I'm the big, bad bogeyman, about to leap out and give you the scare of your life!" Panic tried to taunt her, but Kagome could only smirk and gave a chuckle. "If you could see what I have in store for you, you wouldn't be laughing!"

"But its funny... its the very reason I laugh. You are so transparent its laughable."

"What?! What are you talking about you runt?"

"You are the Bogeyman, Panik, scaring children into being afraid of the dark... until they discover there is nothing to fear of the dark... like you. There are scarier things in this world than a washed up bully like you. And when a person becomes confident and doesn't fear the unknown, they've removed the only weapon creeps like you have."

"You wish it was that simple, you-"

"But it is that simple!" Kagome yelled at him. "And I will show you why, and expose you with one simple card."

"Ha ha ha, you almost hand me going there, but we both know that card's nothing but a big, fat bluff! Prove me wrong and lets see you give me my tough lesson!"

"You have five turns, Panik, five turns before I destory you and your monsters. And I am going to give you a taste of how it starts, because unlike you, I'm not a lying lizard, waiting in the dark. Light of Time Barrier. Its a special card that places a barrier of light and time across the entire field. When this is placed, monsters can attack, but they are all observed into its void, and will come back at the end of its activation. For three turns light will shine, and by the end of my fifth turn, you will be defeated.

"I play the Time Traveler, in defensive mode." A small girl wearing a blue dress, black hair and blue eyes stepped onto the field. She was cute and waived at the group she saw watching. She gave Kagome a kiss on the cheek before returning back to her square. Kagome could hear Yami chuckle at her antics. "Ofcourse I also have my Barrier magic card, ready to play when you least expect it. Your five turns start now Panik."

Panik didn't say anything. He himself was starting to panic.

"Whats the matter, lost your adrenaline already?"

"I'll teach you, just you wait!"

Kagome could hear the others starting to talk to themselves, asking Mai about her face down card and why she would leave it out like she did. They all thought I was slipping up, but that wasn't the case. From the corner of her eye she could see Yami smirking as well. He had caught on to her plan.

"Make your move, Panik."

"I must say, it was quite a daring move leaving your card out on the field like that. It was a critical mistake to leave it on the field completely exposed!" Kagome smirked at his words. "If you thought idle cars were safe from attacks, you thought wrong. Reaper of the Cards!"

"The Reaper?"

"When the Reaper is summoned, all magic cards hear the ghostly toll of doom! He'll be sending your Barrier card to the graveyard, leaving you defenseless. Reaper, attack!" The reaper came out of the shadows and went strait for the face down card on her field. It attacked, but just before it hit the card it froze in its place.

"Huh? Whats going on? It can't finish its attack."

Kagome started laughing.

"It should have destroyed your card, your Light of Time Barrier card."

"I said my Light of Time Barrier card is the card that would show your monsters. I never said it was the one I placed on the field. The card I placed was different, but you shall no doubt feel the effects. Beads of Subbjugation, a trap card. A trap card that ensares its attacker in its holy power. My brother used to get me with the Reaper of the Cards whenever we dueled, beating me almost every time because of it. Luckily, I thought you might have one, seeing as you keep all sorts of dark creatures. Now, I don't have to worry of my barrier being broken, and can place what ever magic card I want on the field."

The group cheered Kagome on from below.

"You bitch! You tricked me!" he screamed at her.

"Ah! That was your fault, you mind played its own trick on you. Now I will actually play my card to the field, along with 2 other cards.

"So what if you captured my reaper, he's only one of my powerful monsters."

"Feeling a bit nervous, are we Panik? I may not have attacked you yet, but that is going to change very soon. I told you five turns till its over, you are now down to four. When that happens I will drag you from your shadows and show you just how much an actual coward, you are."

"Bitch, have you forgotten whom you face here?" Two jets of fire sprang up beside her.

"I thought you were done with that. Its not very scary, or are you the ones who's actually scared?" He didn't say anything, but she could feel it, she was beginning to panic.

"Quit stalling, the night doesn't last forever."

"Silence!" he growled at her. Suddenly he started laughing. "This card will win the match for me! King of Yamimakai Powered by the night, he is far more powerful than your little girl. King of Yamimikai, destroy her Time Traveler!" There was the sound of electricity and it fired, but instead it destroyed the Reaper of the Cards. Her Beads attracted the attack as soon as it came out of the darkness.

"Now its time to cast away the shadows. Light of Time Barrier!" An arrow covered in blue flames stuck the field in the middle casting a blue light that grew strong and stronger. Suddenly the entire field was covered in a domed blue barrier that shoved the shadows from the field. It was ethereal and literally pushed away any shadows and darkness. The creatures on the field were stunned, as was Panik.

"Stop it! I can't stand the light!" Panic covered his eyes till the bright flash had died down a bit, but still the shadows stayed away.

"Way to go, Kagome!" Tristan and Joey shouted up to her, she smiled their way, before smirking at Panik.

"No more hiding and only three turns left. Not only does this card reveal your monsters, but you can't attack. Neither can I. Its a sanctuary of sorts, where all monsters are frozen in time."

"I play chaos Barrier shield combining it with my Castle of Chaos to create a shield on my monsters."

"I see, being the coward again. Hiding and cowering seems to be the only thing you can do, to cover up the lack of tactics and kill."

"You dare mock me!" he pressed a button on his console and two bullets of fire shot out at her. She moved her head back and they missed her. She had gotten used to dodging things much faster than that.

"Are you ready to play with honor? You have two turns left. If you don't play with honor, I will rip apart that mask and show what you truly are, pathetic."

"Panic fears no duelist and I will crush your spirit and wipe out your life points!"

"Now its my turn" Kagome drew a card from her deck. "And my card is Inu Hanyou!" A boy with red robes stepped onto the field. His hair white with little dog ears, his nails long and sharp, no shoes, and golden yellow eyes. He threw a toothy grin at Kagome. 2400 atk/2300 def.

"You really think something like that would be able to break my barrier?"

"Maybe not, but with this magic card, Time Traveler will be." kagome flipped over a magic card. "Arrow of Courage, when equipped to to miko monster cards, grants 600 attack points." Panic drew a card.

"Ah, perfect. Metal Guardian in Defense mode." Panik played another card. "With the field power bonus, his defense raises to 2700. Now you won't be able to attack any of my monsters."

"Figures, your a thief cowering in your den instead of coming out to fight."

"Insolent wench"

"Your doing nothing but putting up defenses and cowering, showing how weak you truly are."

"Silence! in the next turn your barrier will fall and I will be able to attack you with all of my monsters."

"Its to late for that. You have fallen deep into my trap. The stronger you make your defenses, the more you lock yourself into defeat."

"That's a joke. You're nothing but talk, you pathetic little girl."

"Talking time is done now. That was your final turn. The time to end this is now. With this." Kagome flipped up a magic card. "Guardians Power is a special card that can only be activated when I have a demon type monster on the field. My Time Traveler gains points, putting her at 3200 attack. This is where her special hidden ability comes in. In the barrier monsters can't attack, their attack just goes into the void. But Time Traveler is exempt from this. Time's void does not effect her, allowing her to target anything caught in the barrier."

"My monsters power is still much to strong, even with her special abilities."

"Who said I was aiming for him. I'm aiming for the Castle itself."

"Ha its still impenitrable, there is no way I would take any damage."

"We shall see about that. Time Traveler, Time Tear Shot! Aim for the Castle!" Time Traveler pulled back her bow and aimed. A fierce blue light shone around the arrow and let a tail of light behind it at it fired at the castle. It exploded in a ball of light against the Castle. A crack appeared in the ring around the castle and it crumbled, but the Castle was still floating.

"Ha ha ha, you attack was nothing! My castle still stands, you simply knocked its flotation ring off. And now that your attack has failed, I'll eliminate you once and for all! It's been five turns and I'm still standing with the monsters contained and protected within the chaos shield. When this turn is over the paralyzing effects of your barrier will be gone, and I shall be free to attack you!"

"There is no next turn for you" Kagome said with confidence.

"It's not over." he protested.

"Doesn't seem strange that the castle is still floating even though the floatation ring was destroyed? What if my barrier has frozen it in place, because obviously it takes time to make things fall. Right now the only thing holding it up is my barrier."

"B-but that means..."

"You are finished and your den is about to crumble in on itself. My turn is over." With that the castle started to fall.

"No! Run my monsters!"

"Too late for that. Your chaos shield is keeping them all inside with no where to run." Three of his four monsters were destroyed and Panik's points dropped to zero.

"Yay! Kagome won! Looks like Panik's having a panic attack" said Joey. Kagome looked down to them with a smile and saw Yami coming closer to her platform.

"No body beats Panik. Nobody! I may not have defeated you, Kagome, but I can still eliminate you!" He raised his fist to smash the flame throw button. Her eyes went wide and she didn't have anytime. She was stuck. She was Yami run towards her and jump and pull himself onto the platform just as the flames surrounded them. A jet of fire shot strait towards their faces, but Yami grabbed her. Just as he did, her bracelet started glowing and a power surged towards her head, Yami's puzzle started glowing and he had a marking of the millennium eye on his forehead.

They were alive. Some how the flame couldn't touch them and Yami stood protectively in front of her.

"How are you still alive? It's impossible!"

My Millennium Puzzle and her Millennium Bracelet protects us from your cowardly assault." He grabbed her hand with is left. "You tried to attack a friend and now nothing will protect you from Oblivion!" he raised his right had towards Panik and Kagome felt a power rush through and hit Panik. He seemed to crumble and he fainted.

"What was that?" Kagome asked him.

"I showed him oblivion. HIs mind is now locked till he can come to terms with himself." he answered and he looked her over. "Are you alright Kagome?" She blushed a little at his attention.

"I'm alright, just a little burn on my hand is all." she raised the hand that he was holding gently in his own. "Good thing I came prepared for anything in that bag of mine." Yami smiled softly.

"Good. I know we haven't known each other long, but you are becoming someone dear to us all. Yugi and myself included." Kagome smilled brightly at his words.

"Same here."

As soon as the flames died downtime platform lowered and the clamps on her ankles let go as well.

"Kagome, Yugi! Are you both alright?" asked Tea.

"Kagome, you were incredible up there. Yugi, looks like your puzzle is stronger than we thought." Said Joey. "Not only did it protect you and Kagome, it protected us from the flames too." Kagome walked up to mai.

"Kagome, I don't know what to say."

"You don't need to say anything. Just take these. They belong to you." she held out her hand full of eight star chips."

"I'm sorry but I can't except them. I fight my own battles."

"Mai, Kagome battles for you. She risked her life in this duel for you." said Tea.

"I-I know but..."

"Well theres no point in arguing." said Joey "She's way to thick headed." Joey walked up and took the star chips from Kagome. "But if she'd rather be booted off the island, I'll take 'em." he laughed. Am Growled.

"You think me loosing all my star chips is funny, Joey Wheeler?!"

"I thought you didn't want them, Mai" he teased.

"Unh, give em back!" Joey put them out of her each and she reached for them, and she tossed them into her hand.

"Of course you can have 'em. They're yours." Mai blinked in surprise.

"Really. Joey?"

"Didn't you learn anything from this duel? You can't always keep your defenses up. 'Cause they;ll just get between you... and other people who are trying to be your friends. So, can't you let your shield down... just this one time?"

Kagome and Yugi both nodded to her in affirmation.

"Ah, I'm such a sensitive guy!"

"Yeah, when your not being a pain." Joked Tristan.

"Which is most of the time" Tea played along.

"Ah, my adoring fans."

"Kagome! Yugi!" Mai called out as they were leaving. The stopped and turned around. "I'll repay you for what you did today. Kagome was the one who one these, but if she hadn't insisted I know it would have been you up there winning these. So far as I'm concerned I still owe you... more than I've ever owed anyone. And when we finally do face each other in a duel, either one of you, it'l be an honorable one." Kagome smiled and gave her a thumbs up."Sounds good to me"

"Yes, an honorable one." he said.

With that they turned and left and went their separate ways.

Kagome peaked a look at Yami, who was slowly fading back to Yugi. He himself was making her heart beat a little bit faster and her cheeks flushed a little when he had held her hand. A sudden flash of a silhouette of a boy and spiky hair in a golden desert flashed in her vision. She gasped, catching Yami's attention.

"Are you alright Kagome?" She looked over at him, noticing the similarities in the hair style, but she couldn't match anything else, as she couldn't see anything else. Did this spirit really have to do with her dreams and visions and her missing memories?

She shook her head.

"I'm alright. Its just been a long night. I think we should finally get some sleep before tomorrow comes."

"Hmm, agreed."

The stopped in a small medow and made camp for the night. Kagome fell asleep as soon her head hit her pillow, dreaming more of golden sands.
