There is just one A/N: the title has been changed; this story is no longer known as Cage Bird, but Mitsunobu no Atsushi (MnA). The reason for the title change is because as the story began to progress from chapter one, I realized it didn't fit too well.
Disclaimer: you guys/gals know the drill. Summary: see under title and any previous chapters. Quick shot out to: Luvanmefangirl, tantei (who also betas this story), jostanos, Reader-anonymous writer, and many more. Thank you guys/gals and I hope that all of you continue to enjoy my work. :D
Well, ENJOY: D
Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry was asleep, not the castle itself, but that meant its security wasn't up properly.
Shin snorted as he walked down the halls, heading as slowly as possible towards Dumbledore's office. Goodness, he just arrived a few hours ago and that man couldn't wait to bug him. More, like squash his head with unnecessary information something one of his Lt.'s would give when something trivial came up.
Hn, a pain in the arse.
"Ah, Severus my boy, you showed up." Dumbledore looked as genial as he did earlier.
Shin had little interest in this forsaken school and its worthless wizards. It didn't matter if he remembered them at one point in time. He had a village of over two-hundred people, several facilities, including his founded eleven year award winning academy that was taught by many and founded with the help of the returning fifth Hokage, Tsunade.
Honestly, to tell you the truth being called a name that only his mother was allowed to call him was getting aggravating. "Would you get on with it, Albus? And, in the process stop calling me names in which I don't go by." Shin spoke before Dumbledore could open his mouth, "Shin. Just call me that old man and I might respond."
Dumbledore seemed not to like that, whether it was because he was interrupted before he could say what he wanted to say or whether it was just because he didn't like to be told off, or whatever, Shin didn't know and didn't care.
"Shin, you say my boy, well, I see no reason to call you such. I still know you as Severus, my boy."
Dumbledore then looked serious; "I called you, Severus, to see your patronus."
Honestly, he couldn't come out and ask for something better? But, then this was his way of asking for Shin's loyalty, which he didn't have. However, his happy thought was not what Dumbledore thought it was, but something else and he wanted to keep it that way so, "Expectro Patronum."
The wand if Dumbledore took note was not his wand at all, but a mere mechanical wand in which was developed by his scientist. Truly they were geniuses.
While Dumbledore smiled in satisfaction at the doe, Shin traced back to his science department head, Mayuri Vento.
Mayuri sat in a science chair, back turned looking at the wand he created. "Sir, this should give you everything you need, sir." Mayuri looked up bespectacled squared glasses tightly on his face. A smile of triumph on his features; "I and the team have worked on it daily. It is quite fascinating how our wizarding community (the Japanese wizarding community) was generous enough to help us out and you, sir."
Shin took the wand it looked no different from his previous one, same inches, similar feather... "Hn, let's have a test run."
Mayuri fixed his glasses, smiling. "It is suitable to work with your chakra sir, the world where you are going will know no different."
Shin gave the scientist an approving look. "Your check should be raised slightly this month, starting your raise for the year, Mayuri."
Mayuri bowed; "Sir, it was no trouble at all. In fact if you need us to do anything for this fascinating job you have given us, we will gladly take it."
It was the truth they would do it again if their kage asked.
"Sir, with research and information from some of the wizards the community have sent (which were few) to live here, we have gathered that your patronus should have changed form."
Shin raised a brow. "Really? Well, then..."
They were right, his patronus did change, but back to the present. "Splendid!" Dumbledore sat back down, "Potions rules have not changed, you're free to do as you want, Severus, my boy."
"Shin, Albus," Shin answered, annoyed; honestly he wanted to Raijin the old fool or send him rolling in black flames.
Dumbledore sighed and smiled as if he was just going to amuse, humor the raven. "Very well then, Shin my boy, you may leave."
Dumbledore didn't need to tell the shinobi twice and Shin left as silently as he came, scowling. His people were not as annoying and full of stupidity that they would run into their own graveyards.
When he reached the dungeons, he raised his brow. "What is it, McGonagall?" It was early, way too early. In fact it was an hour before the sun would rise. Already, in the mood of the arrogant Uchiha, Shin gave the look of: Well?
McGonagall was quite taken aback, but quickly recovered. "I thought you would like a game of chess."
Shin didn't even blink. "I prefer muggle chess over the daunting wizard's chess. Hn, it seems I am going to have to keep on repeating myself, honestly. Minerva, come in, I'll play this game of chess."
Once in McGonagall sat in the chair of the small table and conjured up a regular chess board and its pieces. Shin sat on the other side. "What was that you were saying just moments ago, Severus?"
Shin made a move; "Hn, simply call me Shin, McGonagall that is all." McGonagall waited, but her fellow employee did not elaborate.
The game proceeded.
"Why the change of name?"
"I simply changed it, that's all you need to know."
He didn't elaborate, he only continued his move. "Where have you been for the past ten years then, Shin, correct?" The raven man only nodded and she continued, "You do know that the ministry has been searching for you to bring you to Azkaban."
As the game was winding up to its end; "They weren't searching hard enough. Check mate."
As McGonagall left empty handed no doubt, Shin was greatly annoyed.
"Hn, I wonder what they are doing?" He pondered, hoping that thinking of his village, his home and his family was going to get rid of his annoyance.
"My lady," a soldier called, dressed in the standard shinobi uniform with the Hamaguri headband. He kneeled on his knees, bowing.
"Ah, Saizo-kun, what's the matter?"
Hayato Saizo did not look up. Idly, he wondered if the lady could handle the prisoners, but quickly squashed that thought out the window. She was the lady of this village. She had power equal to Lord Uchiha's own. "Some breach into the prison cells and are releasing the prisoners, however, whoever they are have yet to target, prisoner Fujioka's cell."
Haku was safe at home dutifully learning a complex style of taijutsu. However, with Shin gone his training was limited as no one other than the Uchiha knew the Uchiha style of combat. With that in mind, Hisami moved on to her villagers and people of Hamaguri.
"Understood, Saizo-kun," She spoke softly, yet firmly. She wasn't a Hyūga just by looks. "Take me so I can attend to the matter. If I am right we must ask the barrier squad captain to lend us an aided man."
Saizo smiled beneath his hidden features. The lady was not her husband, but she had her own way of dealing with the same matter as her husband.
"Hai, my lady."
Shin cursed. Why? Because, standing in his potions chambers was none other than his dimensional shinobi, Kageru with a file in his hands.
The shinobi respectfully crouched and said nothing, waiting for his kage to say something.
"What are you doing here, Kageru?"
Kageru answered by holding out, still, the files. Shin sighed and took them. They were probably either too important, or his wife was attending to other matters. "If you wish to stay, stay in the shadows. Don't leave this chamber, Kageru." Kageru said nothing as he nodded. Shin sighed heavily and left the room it was time to go and see/greet the wizards of this school yet again, the disgustingly naive brats that they were.
….
As he entered the Great Hall where the teachers were seated, the hall seem to fall silent. He ignored it; goodness fan girls stared and whispered more than they did, which meant they were annoying.
Dumbledore smiled and stood, "Once again please give a warm welcome back to Potions Master Snape!" Shin gave him a long glare and growled.
"I prefer Potion Master Shin," then he adds in well-fortified thought, "You senile old baka.'
"Coughs, pardon, I mean potion master Shin. It seems, he does not go by Snape or doesn't want to, but nonetheless, we shall address him-
The raven haired shinobi growled again with a sneer. "Not as Snape, just Shin."
"Ah, S-shin, I am c-curious." That was Professor Quirrell, ever present in his turban.
"I dare not know what you are curious of, Quirrell."
Professor Burbage, the muggle's teacher raised a brow. "Surely you'll answer. We are all curious as to why."
See, annoying. "Would you rather I answer to something I don't go by anymore? Thought so, now," he waltzed past them in that confident, arrogant Uchiha manner. "I like to have my little bit of breakfast in peace." They left him alone and true enough his breakfast was not a lot, or accurate not a lot being fish and vegetables. Gathering his chopsticks he ignored them and ate his breakfast.
As he headed back to the potions chambers, Shin paused noticing the dimensional shinobi. He said not a word and proceeded to continue forwards, Kageru following silently. He told Kageru to stay put in the dungeon chamber he would return in an hour or so.
...
Harry and the others entered the potion dungeon classroom; it was very, very dark and seemed gloomy. They all entered and took seats, Harry curiously looked towards the potions master who was already sitting, waiting for them, but was occupied with some paper work.
It could have just been that the room was cold that Harry and some students shivered. However, unknown to them it was not because of the sudden cold it was because of the potion master's black eyes.
His eyes were cold and black like endless tunnels, but when he spoke his voice was colder than winter. "Welcome to potions, I am your instructor, Professor Shin. " He began to call roll and paused; "hm, it slipped my mind." His cold gaze slide to Harry, "Welcome to the wizarding world, Potter."
Harry inwardly sighed in relief with the professor's cold gaze and icy tone he thought he hated him. Shin wanted to hate the boy and he did, but perhaps it was that he had a son of his own or that he was a ruler of a hidden village, or maybe it was the reports of his spy, Mini who was a representative shinobi.
The reports she gave all concluded that it was the relic Dumbledore's fault. The Dursleys were justified, even though some of their neglect and mistreatment bordered on questionable and it wasn't Potter's fault because he was simply clueless and had no way to know of what he was unconsciously doing.
Putting his pondering, wandering thoughts aside Shin finished up roll call and began to explain the potion class.
"You are here to learn the subtle science and exact art of potion-making. As there is little foolish wand-waving here, many of you will hardly believe this is magic." The students looked downright ridiculous.
What was Dumbledore thinking when he closed off potions for ten years? No, no one answered that. The potions master Shin studied and watched each student like a hawk watching its prey. He continued though not letting it sink in fully.
"I don't expect you will really understand the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses... I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even put a stopper in death—"
Hm, looks like that got Potter's attention. Shin's lip curled. "Does this class seem awfully like something, Potter?" Of course it was, it was a lot like science, but yet at the same time wasn't. He moved on not caring if Potter answered or not. "You can learn all that, that's to say you aren't dunderheaded students that won't get a single thing from this class."
As classes started he was questioned very carefully by a Slytherin student. "Why was the potions class closed for ten years?" Unfortunately, or his case fortunately, he did not need to give the quivering student an answer as his glare was enough.
"Potter," Shin suddenly spoke causing the boy to jump and turn around. "Are you even following the instructions?"
"I –I think so, sir."
"Then tell me," He didn't even move from his seat as he was occupied with other paper work. "What is the third rule?" Idiocy to a certain degree he could take, but when one dangerously ignores a chemistry rule idiocy did not matter and Shin hated that.
Harry answered nervously.
"Don't do it again, Potter. " Shin flicks his wrist and the boy's potion is no more. "Start over and if you mess up again, twenty points from Gryffindor."
That, that wasn't fair, Harry gritted his teeth. "Yes, sir."
Class was over with and in came more students. Shin again gave the same welcome as he did Harry and his classmate's. "Welcome to potions..
Kami the week was drawing near, but it was damn right annoying and tiring dealing with the wizards. Kageru returned to the village with the paperwork having stated his opinion.
"I know that, I will return this weekend if I can."
However, with Potter and Malfoy he wasn't so sure.
CUT! Until next time..:D
