Chapter Eleven
It was a bright and peaceful day. Alicia and Lulu woke early, dressed in silence, and tiptoed out of the castle and towards the Thieves Quarter while the late-night guards and early-morning guards shifted posts. They both hoped that the inhabitants of this section were still asleep, but there were a few that were still awake. In fact, the first person they bumped into was-
"Fezzik?" Alicia gasped.
"Alicia Vanilla?" He gasped back. Then he pulled her into a crushing hug.
"How did you get here?" Alicia asked, her voice muffled from the force of the hug.
"Well, after I woke up, I went to find Vizzini, but he was dead and I couldn't find Inigo. So I built myself a home in a cave by a fishing village along the coast of Guilder, and there was talk of the wedding and a potential war. I remembered you girls when I carried you up the Cliffs of Insanity. You were so pretty and soft and I thought that it might be nice to see the wedding celebrations, so I came here. But my money was gone, but then I heard talk of forming a Brute Squad, maybe, so I went to apply or at least offer my services. They decided I was strong enough after they beat me with clubs and the clubs broke."
"They beat you?" Alicia's hands curled into fists. No one hurt HER Fezzik!
"It didn't hurt, truly, and the pay for a Brute is good."
Lulu watched the reunion with a small smile. "Well, we were worried about you and Inigo. Have you had any luck finding him?"
"No," Fezzik replied with a shake of his head. "I haven't seen him. But I will look for him when I take you two back to the palace."
"You're taking us back? But we just got here!" Alicia pouted.
"Perhaps I will see you again tonight. This is no place for ladies," Fezzik only said as he lifted the two women up and placed them on his shoulders. The view was incredible, and Alicia enjoyed every moment of it until they returned to the castle. Once Fezzik departed, the two women hurried to Buttercup's chambers and entered, prepared to help her dress and get ready for the morning. Much to their surprise, they found that she was stretched out on her bed, surrounded by crumpled pieces of parchment, smeared with ink stains, and had a look of complete concentration on her face. Lulu and Alicia approached the bed, breaking her concentration, but the princess still was glad for their company...although she didn't show it at first.
Buttercup frowned as she handed Alicia a rough draft of her letter. "How do you spell 'divine'? Is it 'di' or 'de'?"
"'Di'," Alicia replied. The letter wasn't too bad. Perhaps it was a little rushed and a little too blunt, but it wasn't the worst thing she had read. "It could use a little bit of tweaking…"
"Do you two girls have any experience with...writing?" Buttercup wondered. Alicia and Lulu grinned.
"You have no idea!" Lulu boasted, flopping on the bed next to Buttercup. "Let's get to work!"
Humperdinck and Rugen had gotten an early start in the Zoo of Death. Rugen had a strap of leather that he would slap across Jenna's arm every so often when she didn't speak. "Who hired you?" He would ask over and over.
"Fine, I'll talk! I'll talk!" Jenna shouted. Rugen scribbled something on some parchment and then looked at her for her response. "We...we've been hired by the Ring-Wraiths of Mordor! I'm under the control of the One Ring to Rule Them All!" Rugen facepalmed.
"The truth!"
"My name is Daenerys Targaryen and I am the Mother of Dragons!" Rugen facepalmed.
"The truth!"
"My name is Jenna Nicole Keith! I, along with my friends, possess the ability to enter fictional universes, including this one! The world you live in was written about by S. Morgenstern! I know what the future holds for you all! If you don't believe me, ask Princess Buttercup's ladies-in-waiting! Alicia and Lulu know the truth, too!" Rugen facepalmed again.
"You've perfected the art of the facepalm," Jenna commented after a while. At this point, the count's face was quite red. She watched with a triumphant smile as the count stormed away with the prince.
"The girl won't talk," Rugen mused when he thought Jenna couldn't hear him and Humperdinck. "We'll have to move to the other one next."
"We'll need more information on his weaknesses, then," Humperdinck whispered back. "I know who can give us that…"
It was late when Buttercup, accompanied by Alicia and Lulu, knocked on the door to the prince's study. She entered and gave him her letter. The prince read it over and over again many times, asking every so often little questions about Westley. The count was in the room, and he would offer his own input every so often. After an hour, the princess and her maids were ready to leave. "I'll accompany you," Rugen offered. "I was getting ready to leave." The four of them walked down the hall to Buttercup's chambers, and the princess entered her room in a rush. Alicia and Lulu knew that she had been terrified of the count ever since he came to her farm, and they knew that she had good reasons to. "A moment, please, I would like to speak with you two," the count said to Alicia and Lulu. The girls faced him. "I just wanted to update you on the status of your friend. She and the princess's friend have been returned to their ship. But…"
"But what?" Alicia pressed.
"Before she left, she said some...interesting stuff," Rugen replied.
"'Interesting stuff'?" Lulu echoed. "Could you be more specific about this 'stuff'?"
"Well, she did mention you two quite frequently. She said that she had secrets that no one else would believe...but you two were the only ones who could really confirm the truth. She did talk about these secrets a little bit, and that's what I found so interesting. Do you know what she's talking about or if there's any truth to them?"
Lulu and Alicia exchanged a look. "Nope!" They said in unison. They dashed into the princess's room and locked the door behind them.
"Are you two alright?" Buttercup peered at them from her favorite reading chair. (She didn't actually do any reading in this chair, but she still called it a reading chair.) "You look as if you've seen a ghost."
"Oh, yes, yes, we're fine, yep, yep, yep...could you give us two minutes? Great. Thanks!" Lulu grabbed Alicia by the arm and dragged her into the next room of Buttercup's chambers: a bedroom-sized wardrobe. She closed the door and took a deep breath. "Why the crap would Jenna tell Count Ruben-"
"Rugen," Alicia corrected.
"-Rugen the truth about us?"
"...I don't know," Alicia furrowed her brow. "This isn't right. We wouldn't really talk about this...the truth...on our other adventures...and I don't think Jenna would tell anyone here about it. Especially not the count."
"What are you saying?"
"...maybe she's in trouble…"
Lulu's eyes widened. "You don't think...the Zoo of Death…?"
The conversation with the princess was how they found out that Westley had a fear of the Spinning Ticks. They set to work that evening torturing him, and no matter what Jenna said or how loudly Westley shouted, the torture would not stop for three hours. When it was over, Rugen and Humperdinck left to find the Albino. This was the first time that the two prisoners had a chance to be alone all day, so they relaxed.
"Those were some interesting stories you told the count earlier," Westley said with a chuckle.
"Yeah...stories…" Jenna was distracted by her own memories. For a while, there was silence in the cage except for Westley's grunts and sighs of relief as he attempted to scratch his bug bites. Jenna, thanks to Westley's teachings, had felt no pain when the count hit her, so she was quite fine. When the Albino returned, he spread a creamy lotion over Westley's body and spoke to them in a low, worried voice.
"Tell them. Please. They will only add to your suffering."
Jenna only laughed.
This chapter was tricky! I think that things should be a little bit smoother, story-wise, from now on...I also feel like the story jumps locations more than an episode of Game of Thrones… XD
