A/N: Just a quick side note again that I used song lyrics but I do not own these songs nor do I claim too x

The gym looked astonishing. It was almost as if it weren't a gym at all, and that was saying something. The usual smell of sweaty kids and bleach had been replaced with scented candles. As the Anubis kids walked in to a sea of students flooding the dance floor, smiles plastered across their faces. Oscar and Scarlett followed behind Isaac and Lily, who, noting the location of the boys' mother, conveniently went to the opposite side of the gym. Scarlett glanced over at the boys' mum. Oscar looked a lot like her, and so did Sophia, in a way. Lost in her gaze, she almost didn't notice who else was there. Her own mother.

Scarlett did a double take. No, she wasn't seeing things. Her own mum was right there with Oscar's, talking, laughing, doing what have you. Her mother was never one to go to dances, but this way maybe she figured it wasn't actually going to a dance. Scarlett shook her head. She shouldn't have anything to worry about with her mum since Patricia knew what it was like to have your parents embarrass you all too well. That's why she never usually took that approach with Scarlett and Eddie, because in all honesty, it didn't do much. Scarlett looked forward at where she was going and was careful not to trip over her own feet anymore. Oscar squeezed her hand in his gently and she fought a smile, looking down.

Chloe and Eddie were the last to enter the gym out of the Anubis students, but certainly not the last students in general to enter. "Look at that," he said, looking at her. "Still on time." Chloe laughed under her breath.

"Only slightly fashionably late, by," she looked at the clock on the wall. "Two minutes. Well done." The couple laughed, heading onto the dance floor to meet with everyone else. Everyone looked amazing in their dresses and formal attire. The DJ had started the dance off with a moderately fast song that was pretty popular to get people out on the dance floor and moving. Sophia stood with Ben by the punch table looking over at James and Melody who were standing a short distance away just talking, and laughing. Ben stuffed his hands into his pockets and rocked back and forth on his heels. After a minute of silence, Ben spoke up.

"I know how you feel, Sophia," he told her. She turned, looking back at him.

"You do?" He nodded, stepping up beside her.

"I do. You know, sometimes, guys are clueless when it comes to things like this." She pretended like she didn't know what Ben was talking about. "Oh come on, I know you like James and I've only just met you." Sophia sighed, looking back over at the two of them.

"Is it that obvious?" Ben put a hand on her shoulder.

"I'm afraid so. But hey, on the bright side, I don't think he likes Melody that way, and I know she wouldn't take him away from you. Mainly because she likes a boy in Isis house... but you get what I'm saying. But instead of waiting for him to make the first move, why don't you?" Sophia didn't know what to say. She was just too shy to make the first move, and what if he didn't like her back that way? Ben nodded. "I get it. Anyway, until that day comes," he moved in front of her and held his hand out. "Would you like to dance?" Sophia looked down at Ben's hand, and then up at the boy who was taller than she, smiling slightly.

"Sure," she spoke softly, taking his hand. What she didn't notice is Ben giving his sister a signal as they headed out onto the dance floor. Shortly after, Melody and James were out on the dance floor too. Looking around, now, everyone seemed to be having fun. There didn't seem like anything could have gone wrong. Ben took Sophia's hands and started dancing with her, spinning her around and whatnot, and the girl actually caught herself smiling. Sure, she wasn't dancing with James, but she was actually having fun at a school dance. Ben turned to the DJ and winked without Sophia seeing. The DJ nodded, and stopped the song midway. Ben and Melody slipped away, pulling Sophia and James closer to each other as the DJ spoke.

"Alright ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the first dance of the year!" There was a roar of applause and he continued. "Now it seems like it's time to grab that special someone and get ready for a slow song, coming your way in two shakes of a lambs tail." The song switched which left some of the kids confused, and others went with it. Sophia looked around, confused as to where Ben had gone, until she realized who was standing in front of her. James. James looked side to side for a second before looking down at Sophia.

"Hey," he said, laughing. Sophia tried to smile.

"Hey." James hesitated for a second before he asked, but he managed to spit the words out.

"Do you wanna dance?" Sophia's smile grew wider.

"Yes," she answered, trying not to sound so enthusiastic. In another part of the gym, Oscar and Scarlett were also dancing. The song practically just started as they started dancing.

I hung up the phone tonight, something happened for the first time. Deep inside it was a rush, what a rush.

"So, some dance, huh?" Oscar said, smirking slightly, his hands on her hips as they danced to the beat of the song.

"Some dance."

'Cause the possibility that you would ever feel the same way about me, it's just too much; just too much.

"Come on," he prodded her. She gave him a confused look. "Why can't you admit it?"

"Admit what?" she asked him. Her heart started beating faster, however she didn't show it.

"That you like me." She didn't answer him. All she could think about was how accurate this song was, staring into his eyes.

Why do I keep running from the truth? All I ever think about is you. You got me hypnotized, so mesmerized, and I've just got to know. Do you ever think when you're all alone all that we could be? Where this thing could go? Am I crazy or falling in love? Is it real or just another crush? Do you catch a breath when I look at you? Are you holding back like the way I do? 'Cause I'm trying, trying to walk away, but I know this crush ain't going away... going away...

"So why is it so hard? I like you. You know that, I know that, my sister knows that... and I know you like me too. So why can't you say it?" Sophia still didn't answer.

Has it ever crossed your mind when we're hanging, spending time, girl, are we just friends? Is there more? Is there more? See it's a chance we've gotta take, 'cause I believe that we can make this into something that'll last; last forever, forever.

"What is it?" he asked, looking down at her. She looked up, not taking her eyes off of him, her hands moving from his shoulders to draping around his neck, stepping closer to him.

As the song started to faded out, Scarlett looked up at the boy who was still waiting for an answer. "Because the possibility that you would ever feel the same way about is just too much..." she whispered, quoting the song.

"Well call me crazy, but I think I'm falling in love." Tiptoeing slightly, Scarlett's lips met Oscars after all of the back and forth stuff going on between them. When they parted, they were startled slightly by Isaac.

"Sorry to interrupt your snog fest, but I've got a slight problem. Mum's looking for us." Oscar and Scarlett broke apart, gathering themselves once again.

"Sophia said she'd take care of it," Oscar told him.

"Then why is she making goo-goo eyes with James on the dance floor?" Oscar looked over and sure enough, there she was. He grunted, taking Scarlett's hand and looking back at her.

"I'll be right back. Meet me at the punch table in like ten minutes," he told her. She nodded, sending him off. Meanwhile, whilst Isaac and Oscar went to go find a way to avoid their mum and get to Sophia, she and James were still on the dance floor. The small brunette girl couldn't beleive this was real, and just her luck, James' phone started ringing.

"Oh.. one second, sorry," he apologized. Answering his phone, James' eyes widened and his jaw dropped. "Really? Really? That's great! I'll be right there, promise. Ten minutes or less!" Sophia looked confused. Before she could even speak, James shoved his phone in his pocket, apologized once more, and left, running out of the gym. Sophia was left standing there, practically humiliated. The next song that came on she found fitting, considering it described her inner emotions.

"Bleeding love, alright," she mumbled under her breath, trying not to shed a tear. Oscar and Isaac approached her after.

"Sophia, we need you to distract. Mum. She's looking for us, and we don't want her to talk to anyone." Sophia was a little agitated.

"I'm kind of upset right now, you guys."

"Please, Soph? We'll do anything you want," Oscar proposed. She eventually budged.

"Fine. I'll get her off your tails." The boys gave her a hug each, and Isaac even kissed her on the cheek. She wiped it off as she usually did when they did that. She had to admit; it did make her crack a smile.

James ran right to the exit of the gym where Chloe and Eddie were dancing, and having fun. He flagged them down, catching his breath. "The... results.. are... in..." he gasped. The two of them dropped what they were doing.

"Really? Well come on!" Eddie said, grabbing Chloe's hand and rushing out. James was still hunched over in pain.

"Wait.. guys..." he sputtered. Getting a late start, he chugged after the duo and tried to keep up. "Man, I really need to join a gym or a sports team or something," James whispered to himself. A few days ago, the three of them had reformed Sibuna, and taken finger print scans to test on the book they had found in the attic. The scans had come back, and James had submitted them to a research facility to get them looked at so they would know every person connected with that book. He knew a guy in the business. Now, the results were done and they were going to find them out. Soon they'd be able to connect the pieces so far, and go on with the mystery. James just hoped that it would help them significantly, and that it wasn't a waste of time. He felt bad, leaving Sophia, but this was important. Wasn't it? God, he hoped that he made the right decision.
