Disclaimer: I do not own Vampire Knight's character. Matsuri Hino does.

AN: I'm starting my new sem in Monday. Sorry not much of update. I was busy getting sick and bedridden for a few days. Also moving to a new place. This is short and a bit cliche I think. Also the story moved fast, isn't it? I suck at making long chapter story. And my english is rusty these days. i haven't used it much.

WARNING: Not beta. Sorry for the grammar mistake or the sentence which doesn't make sense. Also it's been a while since I write something so the style has changes.

PS: If you have the time to review on my grammar, why don't you just be my beta reader. It would be helpful. Oh, why no body wants to be my beta reader.

Enjoy!

Everything was going so fast. Kaname was not breathing, the bond was silence and for a while there he thought the pureblood was dead. But Kaname revived. The bond was again alive, making sound and connecting them. It was refreshing, not having the bond repressed.

However it was too soon to be relief. Zero still was confused on how Kaname ended in the way he was so he was in no position knowing what his little action of reconnecting the bond would cause.

He nonetheless saw Kaname's eyes turned red, swirling in blood lust. He could feel the hunger for blood from the bond. He also recognized the raw lust for body contact from Kaname's aura. At the same time, Zero noticed Kaname no longer in control his power. It was like he was letting go of everything, everything that was suppressed including the seal on his memory.

Prepared, Zero accepted whatever Kaname threw at him; he managed to handle Kaname without a hitch but he was not prepared to see his son; appearing out of nowhere, bleeding and breathing hard, running for his life. He was not prepared at all so he just froze in stupor, staring at his bleeding son as if by doing that the wound would disappear, that it was only his imagination.

His mind just went blank and he couldn't think, thus couldn't react. He hated when he was confused and didn't know what was going on. However in the moment of weakness, Zero turned to his only source of aid, silently screaming for help.

Kaname's quick judgment managed to pull Koori out of danger and stabilized him. But he left as quick as he healed Koori. Where was he going?

Then not a second after, he smelt Yuki's blood in the air.

Yuki? Thicker odor of blood lingered in the air. What's going on? The amount of blood spilled was not supposed to be this lot, this amount was life threatening. What's going on? And it didn't show any sign of stopping.

Feeling like he should go and see, Zero picked himself up, staggering and wobbling but he managed to get himself up, straight. His back was screaming at him in pain and his rear burned. He tried not to think about it as he gathered Koori in his arms and ran towards the source of smell.

He fell a few times; he pretty sure he scrapped himself and although he didn't want to admit it, down there it was bleeding. The blood even running down his legs. Anyway, he managed to find Yuki and the sight of her was not pretty. In fact Zero was so in shock, he gapped and stood in stupor as Kaname retracted his clawed hand from Yuki's bloody battered form-he almost couldn't recognize her anymore except for her smell.

What happened? Did Kaname do this to Yuki? Some thoughts came across his head. He almost didn't believe it but when Kaname raised his claws hand again; to bash Yuki, Zero ran in between them, holding his arm out while the other holding Koori, kneeling and shielding Yuki out of Kaname's reach.

"STOP!"

The pureblood prince stopped his doing, arms limped to his side while blood dripped down his form. He straightened up as he faced Zero. Zero couldn't see his eyes because Kaname's hair was in the way but Zero knew, a pair of blazing red orbs were looking down at him in anger. Their breathing were the only sound in the air as slowly droplets of water came raining down on them.

It however quickly became a shower and drenched them.

Zero could hear Yuki's hard and sharp breathing and Kaname's silent one. Kaname was not done yet with Yuki and Zero knew it. It puzzled Zero. Why did Kaname do this to Yuki? Why was Kaname emitting such dangerous aura? What did Yuki do to deserve this?

There was no answer which Zero could think off. It was weird and since just now Kaname just underwent a procedure of reconnecting the bond, Zero feared something must had gone wrong somewhere. If not why would he who has sister-complex would attack Yuki, his beloved sister.

"Step aside Zero." he hissed dangerously. It sent shiver down Zero's spine but he didn't move away. He frowned instead.

"What are you doing Kaname? Why are you attacking Yuki? She didn't do anything." Zero exclaimed but inside he was reminded that he didn't know if Yuki was innocent or not. What did she do to cause Kaname such anger? And what was she doing here? Hanabusa told him Yuki was back in the Kuran old manor. It was in another state. So how come she's here?

Zero's words seemed to irritate Kaname more as his aura flared. "I won't say it again Zero, step aside."

Zero was even puzzled himself of his action. Why was he even protecting the girl? He wanted her to disappear from his life for good so why even try shielding her when someone wanted to kill her free off charge? Oh ya, humanity... stupid habit. Zero shook his head, defying the pureblood.

Crossed, Kaname clenched his palms into fisted and his body went rigid. Zero noticed his body language, Kaname was really mad but that was not all. He was holding back and hiding something. What was he hiding?

Zero thought curiously but soon he heard footsteps coming towards them and not long enough Seiren and Takuma appeared. They gasped and were as shock as Zero was earlier.

"Yuki-sama!" Seiren started towards her. Zero moved away while Kaname stayed silent and Takuma observed them. He glanced suspiciously at Kaname's stained naked upper half and hands. He worriedly approached the pureblood.

"What happened-?!" he wanted to ask.

But Kaname was not having it, he was in no mood for question. Without much word, he grabbed Zero who was still holding Koori and disappeared in bats form, together with the mother and son duo.

Takuma shouted for them to wait but they were already far away into the stormy night.

'SPLASH!'

Kaname crashed into a lake, bringing Zero and Koori too though he cushioned their fall. Now they were dripping wet, wetter than before though there was not that much different at all. Zero glared at the rising back of the pureblood.

"Baka, Kaname, can't you aim your landing better?!" Zero voiced out his displease but the pureblood ignored him as he picked up a sleeping Koori. That boy, how could he still be sleeping at this time? He was thrown into a lake, face first into the water.

Koori's ability to sleep throughout the commotion amazed Zero. He however was thrown out of his thought when he heard the water rippled, splashing as Kaname walked towards the shore. Zero quickly got up to follow but his legs gave out and he was back into the shallow lake.

Kaname turned towards him silently, his eyes wondering what's wrong. A blush crept up Zero's cheeks, he looked away. "I can't stand up anymore." he mumbled. He was completely numb from his lower region.

The pureblood stared at him in soundlessly, increasing the awkwardness Zero was already feeling. He was not at fault here, ok! Kaname was the one screwing him without as much as lube and preparation. He couldn't feel his bottom anymore except for numbness and burn.

The thought made Zero blushed harder thus he hang his head down, wallowing in self-hating.

The water rippled in front of him and not a second later, Kaname was kneeling in font of him, tucking Koori in Zero's arms before without a warning, lifted him up in his arms like a princess. Zero steadied himself and Kaname made sure he won't drop them by accident before walking towards the shore.

"Thanks." he thanked the pureblood but the pureblood just stared forward as he made his way in the forest. Zero felt a little hurt inside. Since they left the castle ground, Kaname was bluntly giving him the cold shoulder. He however knew the reason. It was because of just now when he shielded Yuki from him and was disobeying him. He was still mad.

Slowly, Zero gaze shifted away from Kaname, wondering up into the starry night; it was not raining anymore, and traveled down to the big, tall trees. Water trickled down the leaves, to the forest canopy and floor. The night felt damp and cold. He shivered, unconsciously cuddling into Kaname for heat.

They were in a heavy forest. One could say they were in a middle of nowhere but Kaname was walking as if he knew where he was going.

"Where are we?" he voiced out unconsciously. He realized it and immediately clamped his mouth with his free hand. He glanced at Kaname, hoping he didn't hear him since he knew the pureblood was ignoring him. But at the same time, he was hoping the pureblood heard him and decided to stop giving him the cold shoulder.

However like Zero had guessed Kaname ignored him. This was so common in their school day. Usually if you pestered the pureblood much, he would yield in. He wanted to try but he didn't. Somehow he felt he should leave the pureblood be. Besides his aura was slowly calming down. So that's good.

Deciding to stay quiet and enjoyed the silent, Zero hugged Koori closer as he nuzzled into the pureblood for his warmth. It was really icy cold in the forest and he was soaked to bone. He wondered if Koori was ok but then again, Koori was an ice wielder so he was used to cold... maybe that was why he could still doze off in this cold.

Zero then remembered the incident was still trying to figure out how his bond with Kaname was disturbed so bad Kaname's heart stopped beating. It was like someone tampered with it. Also who assaulted Koori? He was so heavily injured. Who would even had the heart to do that to a child so small and innocent? Zero seethed. If he ever find out later, he'll kill whoever did it.

Talking about killing... why did Kaname want to eradicate Yuki earlier? He was really blowing a steam there. Zero peered up at the pureblood, trying to figure out his last internal question. The pureblood's face was hard though as if he knew what Zero had in his mind but didn't want to answer.

Wait! Zero seemed to remember something. The bond. They were connected now so if he was not careful, anything he thought off could easily hear by Kaname.

"Kaname-" he wanted to ask if he accidentally slip anything to Kaname but the said man's attention was directed towards something else instead.

"We are almost there."

At the mention of it, Zero tore his gaze away and looked in front. A small cottage slowly came in sight. It looked familiar enough. Where had he seen it? His eyes trailed over the little cabin. It was old and seemed abandoned but still strongly standing. It seemed familiar but not that Zero could remember so clearly.

Suddenly it clicked in remembered when he was 7 years old, his parents once brought him there. It was their hunting cabin but it was seldom used by him since he didn't fancy hunting for animal. His uncle however liked it and he always dragged him there when he was in a 'good' mood.

However after getting married to Kaname, Zero only visited the cottage to clean it up and Kaname helped too. They would come here 2 to 3 times a year and spent time there about a week, just lazing around. So it was no wonder one could remember the trail to get there but it was like 14 years ago. How strong was Kaname's memory? Even Zero forgot about the cottage and he had all his memories.

Kaname made their way towards the cottage, opening the door and entering it. Strangely the place was not dusty at seemed like someone was using it frequently.

Well that was that, now Zero could finally confirm that the seal to Kaname's memory existed no more.

The Kuran's castle was busting with vampire running around, mostly with Yuki's underling. She brought some with her there and other kept coming after being called. Most of them were level C but there was some noble among them.

One by one of them entered the room Yuki was located, serving their master who was in dire need of blood right now. Yeah, they were letting Yuki drank from them so that Yuki could heal from her injury sustained from Kaname.

The pureblood prince nearly killed her but no one was saying anything, even Yuki. She was too busy drinking blood. Up until now she only succeed to recover 30% of her original form. Kaname really did her bad and Takuma was really perplex over it.

What could have lead Kaname to do it? 'Don't tell me, he's finally lose a screw!'

"Ichijou-san!" Takuma whirled around towards the one calling him. A pair of blue orbs met his emerald eyes.

"Hanabusa-kun. Akatsuki-kun." He acknowledged the cousins. "What is it?"

"How Yuki-sama?" he asked as he got closer to whisper. "And was it true it was Kaname-sama?"

Takuma shrugged. "I didn't see it but from the look at it, yes it could be."

Hanabusa jerked back and exchanged a concern look with his cousin before turning to Takuma again. "Why do you think he attack her?"

"I don't know but I hope it was not because he has gone insane." Takuma whispered to the two. Not many knew Kaname's condition which needed medicine to control his sanity. And if it got out, things could get messy.

"I hope not." Hanabusa uttered.

They shared a gloomy silence before Hanabusa suddenly remembered something. "Oh, ya! Just now Akatsuki got a phone call from Ruka. She said she suddenly remembered the true past."

Takuma's eyes widen in surprised. "Really?!"

"Yeah. And she was not the only one. Headmaster Cross too and Ichiru told me, Zero's house phone had been ringing off it handle for hours, getting call from various people saying they remembered. Touga, Kaito and even our parents and family. They all remembered."

"That's... wait this is too much coincident. There's no way so many remembered at the same time."

"There's a way. Zero told me once." Hanabusa hyped. "He said if Kaname-sama's memory seal was broken, everyone would remember. Depends on the way the seal is break, the memory will return either in one go or slowly."

Takuma gasped. This is big news.

Kaname threw him a towel to dry himself and Koori as he worked in and out of the cottage, doing and searching something as if he owned the place. The light was still working and slowly the house warmed up since Kaname had started fire at the fireplace.

Zero moved Koori closer to the fire and they stayed there for a few good minutes before Kaname came out of the bathroom with pants rolled up.

"Bath is ready, get in." he said. His face was still expressionless but Zero felt no more of his anger from earlier. Kaname had calmed down, he concluded as he sighed out a relief. Now he felt more relaxed around Kaname.

The pureblood helped them into the bathtub filled with hot water. It was an old fashion bath tub which needed to fire up with firewood outside of the cottage, under the bathtub but it was working perfectly and was big enough for three of them to get in.

Kaname however didn't join them. He helped to bath Koori-who in fact slept through it- and get him out of the bath, dried him off and dressed him up with a big t-shirt he found in the closet. Afterward, he just left Zero alone to dip in the bath.

Zero was left in silent, once in a while he could hear the crackling of firewood burning and the dripping of water droplets but anything else, he was left alone in the warm bath. Thus, in the moment, he was left with no choice but to indulge in his thought.

Zero thought of what happened the night. Then the questions which were not answered came again, caused him to be a bit frustrated before he came to think about present time. 'What's now?"

He felt a bit empty, scared and hopeful at the same time. Kaname remembered. However he showed no sign of being happy about it. Nor was he particularly mad about it. He was being really melancholic and it was making Zero anxious.

Are they going to get together? Zero felt giddy at the thought of it but somewhere at the back of head, there was an annoying voice nagging at him, that it was not that easy. He betrayed Kaname and Kaname won't let it slip since Zero left him twice without talking it through together. He made a selfish decision and now because he was lonely, he was making another selfish decision to get back with Kaname without explaining anything to the pureblood. How much of self-centered jerk was he going to be?

Zero slid down in the bath tub, submerging into the water. He should has a talk with Kaname. He should but somehow he was afraid. What if it would go wrong and it worsen their already broken relationship. He didn't want that. Zero was in a fix. Maybe he should just take a peek into Kaname's head.

'Swing'

The silverette flinched when the door swung open. Kaname came in, this time without pants, making his way towards the tub before getting in, opposite of Zero. Zero pulled up his legs to his chest so he could make room for Kaname as the pureblood did the same but sitting in more relax position than Zero. Suddenly the bathtub felt smaller than just now. Zero noticed how they barely touch in the bathtub. It made Zero's heart raced a bit and his cheeks heated at the idea that they could be touching but only for a few second as they didn't make contact. Kaname however was spreading painfully near.

Zero leaned towards his knees, shrinking as he peered at the pureblood. Kaname's body was a bit tense but his face portrayed nothing of such. He was looking at the water, then tilted his head upward to the ceiling as he leaned back.

They were in a moment of silence and Zero starting to feel awkward. A topic. Any topic, just crashed this freaking silent! They had been in a silence since they arrived here. It was not comfortable at all.

"You know, in Japan, they used to take bath together naked to strengthen their bonds." Kaname started to Zero surprised but his eyes were still staring straight at the ceiling.

Zero shook his head.

Kaname smiled. "They do." he replied short then his smile vanished as he quiet down again. The sound of water hitting the window sounded louder in their silence. Zero glanced at the window. It had started to rain again, Zero noticed.

"I once cried after I heard you left the academy." Kaname broke the silent again as he stared at his hands in the water. Zero blinked as he watched the pureblood. He felt like he shouldn't disturb the other. "It was weird I thought. I despised you but instead of feeling happy for your departure-since that what was I wanted from the start- I felt betrayed. I felt empty and for days my mind was a mess. I hated you more and more for filling my mind all the time. It was annoying."

Kaname was frowning. He was remembering the dark days. "It was uncomfortable and I was slowly losing my mind because something felt amiss. If I had known it was because of the bond... I could've done something sooner but instead I-" Kaname gazed turned sharply at Zero. "-but instead it took 11 years to get where I am."

Kaname was glaring at him, angry. His face was hard and his shoulders were stiffed.

"Are you mad, Kaname?"

The pureblood twitched. "I am, I'm not just angry but livid."

Zero's gaze fell. He didn't have the gut anymore to see the anguish in Kaname's eyes. He knew he was at fault. He needed to apologize. "I'm sorry. I'm truly sorry." He said.

Kaname was silenced. He was not satisfied. Reaching towards Zero, he pulled the hunter's chin up. "Look at me when you said it." He spoke with a bit strain. His eyes were still glaring with anger.

Zero felt his heart skipped a beat as he felt a weight hanging on his chest, smoldering him. He had a hard time opening his mouth without feeling like crying.

"I'm- I'm sorry..." He was almost to tear, Kaname's gaze was hard, unforgiving. He had the fear again. Kaname was not going to forgive him. He's going to hate him. Zero could handle the hate when Kaname didn't remember anything but now that he remembered, Zero couldn't hold back his fear from affecting him.

"Why? Why did you do it?" He asked. "Even with the memories returning, I still couldn't comprehend your actions. I knew that I was a jerk and everything. I done unforgivable things to you but I knew it was not because of that. You tolerated it long enough to be bothered by it. I was grateful for that actually. You still accept me even when my personality changed." His face harden. "But I can't understand why you seal and then attempted to erase my memory."

"Attempted?"

"Yes... my first instinct when I realized you was going to erase my memory was to create a back up memory and hide it deep in my conscious though it costed me to go into a deep sleep later."

Zero's jumped, eyes widen. "Then you remembered?!"

"No. I miscalculated and hide the memories too deep. I had a hard time retrieving it but it came back to me slowly in the past 11 years. I only remembered some of the memory from our school day though I had a hard time believing it."

Zero slumped backward, his back resting against the cold tub. He couldn't believe it. He thought he succeed back then.

He couldn't believe it.

If it was like that Kaname must had went through a lot the past few years.

The Confusion, the irritation and the frustration plus blood lust.

With all that, it was no wonder he almost lost his sanity.

"I sorry." Zero bit his lower lips. "Because of my insecurity... because of my fear you had to go through all that." Zero drew his knees closer as he hug it, burying his face in it. "I wanted for you to love me without thinking that it was your responsible."

Kaname raised an eyebrow, perplex.

"When we were little, I believed you only was with me because you had to, because you were bound by the curse..."

"We were soul mates."

"Yes, but that doesn't mean you love me. It just a red string which link us..."

Kaname frowned.

"I was really bend by the thought I saw no other way from sealing your memory and trying for another time to win your heart but along the way, I lost my memory too. We met again but it was the same like last time, you found out I was pregnant and want to take responsible. I don't want us to be together because you felt obligated." Zero lifted his head towards Kaname and saw the rising anger in the pureblood. He flinched and closed his eyes. "I'm sorry for making my own decision without saying anything to you."

A slap made it across Zero's cheek. Feeling the sting, the fact he was slap drown in Zero's mind. A hand cradled his abused cheek as he gaze fell slowly on Kaname. The pureblood was pitching the bridge of his nose, sighing. He seemed troubled and annoyed at the same times.

He snapped towards Zero and grabbed his neck from behind as he pulled him closer. "First of all, although I am responsible person, I would not take one in the form of marriage. I would not marry you if I was not in love with you in the first place. Secondly, since I was a jerk, a sadist and a pedofile-I apologized for that-I guess it was my fault to make you think like that."

Kaname's feature soften and suddenly a smile surfaced. "I forgive you for that." He said. "And I'm sorry too."

Releasing his hold, he leaned back to get out. "That enough for now..." He said, exiting the bathroom and emerging again with a towel around his waist and hands. He opened the towel in his hands like receiving a hug. "Ready to get out?" He asked.

Zero titled his head, still not completely grasping the situation could only nodded his head.

Just as how he was carried into the bathroom, he was carried out. The pureblood silently dried him off and helped him dress with something like a night dress from the closet. After he dressed up in a pair of cotton pajamas, he then placed Zero next to the fireplace where a makeshift bed was made with Koori already peacefully slumbering.

Zero sat there, staring at the flickering fire before Kaname offered him a drink. He drank some water and went to lie beside Koori, laying there, staring at the ceiling like Kaname, only that Kaname was laying the other side of Koori.

It was quite save for the crackling of firewood, the trickling of raindrops outside and the even sound of their breathing. It was comfortable and since he was tired, it was not hard for him to feel drowsy. Maybe it was the sleepiness who was talking but Zero didn't care. He finally understood what just exchanged between them in the bathroom and he just needed one confirmation before he finally felt a little relief.

"Ne, Kaname... Does that mean you still love me?" He asked.

He heard rustling of clothes and a grumble, "Good Night, Zero." He said tiredly, almost like it was troublesome to answer.

Zero pouted. 'Night." He replied nonetheless and a few seconds later, sleep finally caught him but he didn't miss Kaname's next sentence.

"I love you." He whispered and Zero couldn't help but laughed a little.

"I love you too."

Koori woke up the next morning, feeling ache from his body. An unfamiliar roof greeted him early in the morning and he almost cried from the shock. (I don't know why children cry when they woke up in an unfamiliar places) His heart was beating so hard as if he just woke up from a nightmare. He remembered being assaulted and being chased by some mad lady so waking up in a foreign place scared the shit out of him. Did that lady manage to catch him?

Koori immediately looked around and saw two adults sleeping besides him. He glanced, crawling towards them as he peaked at their faces. He recognized one of them. It was his mom. Relief washed over him as he realized he wasn't caught. He leaned down on the waist of the adult to snuggle with his mom.

Then he looked at the other adult, partially recognized him. He looked familiar. He thought and thought and finally he remembered. He looked just like the picture Hiroki-nii showed him of his dad.

Curiously, Koori crawled over his mom and slipped in between the adult as he observed the brunette adult, taking in all his feature. His hand itched to touch his dad face and when it connected, Koori giggled.

Having both Mommy and Daddy here, together... Is this a dream too? Koori smiled. It's a good dream he thought and not before long he drifted into sleep again, snuggling in between the two adults.

To be continue... A few chapters more to end...
