Chapter 11
Buying a Home

Okay, two things first. One, has reception for this story died down? Reviews seem to have stopped coming in. Second, sorry about the long wait. It took a while to figure out how to exactly go about this chapter.

And be warned of the sex scene in this chapter - we all knew this was long coming, and it gets really steamy, probably more steamy than most of the lemons on this site.

Disclaimer: Was it ever explained what happened with several of the villains who did not show up for the Brotherhood of Evil battle, such as Kitten or Cheshire? If not, I don't own the Teen Titans franchise; it belongs to DC Entertainment, Glen Murakami, and Warner Bros., nor do I own the Misunderstandings story, which belongs to SilentlyWatches.

Raven and Jinx were in Geneva, where Raven had her overseas bank account under the alias Angela Vogel. She hadn't been to Geneva since she had to examine the Mongolian slave collar about two years earlier.

So, before she left, Raven applied a glamour spell on themselves so the manager wouldn't be really suspicious of them. Arriving in tailored suits Raven had acquired, Raven and Jinx met up with the manager.

He asked, "Ah, Frau Vogel, it's been a while, has it not?"

Raven replied, "It has, Henri. I'd like to add another name to the account."

"And the identity of your lucky friend?"

Jinx introduced herself, "Bridger. Louise Bridger." Presenting a false identity that showed her to be a Swiss citizen, the manager scanned Jinx's credentials, checking to see if her identity was true.

After a moment, the manager said, "Ah, Frau Bridger. Now, Frau Vogel, the account so I can add her name to it?"

"Six Nine Six Five Three Six Two Six. Identification number Eight Two Seven Two Seven Eight Seven Six Six Five."

The manager typed in each number Raven spoke, confirming Raven, or rather Frau Vogel's story and identification. A moment later, the manager typed up some numbers and then pulled out a camera, asking, "Smile, Frau Bridger."

He snapped a quick photograph of the glamoured Jinx and then an identification printed out with Jinx's picture.

After Jinx claimed the picture from the manager, he asked "Any other business today?"

Raven answered, "Yes. I'd like to make a deposit."

"How much?"

"Thirteen and a half million in Mexican pesos. Convert it into US dollars, if you would."

"Of course. I'd just need the money so it can be converted."

"Give me a minute."

Raven stepped out of the room, arriving in a nearby bathroom where she pulled out of her mind the real cash she and Jinx had swiped from the arms dealer a few days earlier. Having placed it in a briefcase for easy storage, Raven grabbed the briefcase (supported by the physical enhancement she acquired from Courage) and returned to the manager.

Raven deposited the money on the manager's desk so he could convert it. "I'll have the money in your account. Pleasure doing business with you, Frau Vogel."

The manager took the money and walked away from the desk as Raven and Jinx walked away from it as well, heading outside of the bank and then returning to Fort Pell in order to take off their suits and slip into their night clothing.

Jinx asked her girlfriend, "So, how long do you think until we get to our house and out of Pell?"

Raven answered, "From what I've heard from Ruiz and Hollingsworth, just a few more missions and then we'll be able to move out of Pell. And now we've got the money to buy our own place."

Roy and Garth were currently training at the gym in Fort Pell, right now working on hand-to-hand combat. The instructor, Sergeant Miyagi yelled, "Begin!" and the two ex-Titans began their combat.

Garth swung a punch at Roy who dodged it with a move of his head before sending a roundhouse kick towards Garth, connecting and causing him to stumble backwards.

Roy continued the attack with a side punch that Garth managed to block before pushing him back with a punch to his chest. Garth sent a scorpion kick Roy's way, but he ducked beneath the kick before he swept the Atlantean's leg, causing him to fall onto the ground. Roy asked, "Yield?"

Garth then grabbed Roy's own leg and pushed the archer onto the ground. Garth replied, "As if" as he then tried to get up. Roy kept him down by tackling him, delivering two punches to his face.

Roy was then met with a punch to the head that enabled Garth to sneak out from under him and then kicked him in the stomach. Garth got up from the ground before asking, "Yield?"

Miyagi noted, "Nice work, you two. Roy, you started off well but you let yourself get distracted. Garth, you pulled yourself together, but you need to make less obvious attacks. Dismissed."

Following their dismissal from hand-to-hand combat with Miyagi, Roy and Garth were about to go their separate ways - Roy, to the firing range to get more practice with firearms, and Garth was off to the conservatory to further hone his hydrokinesis.

Roy walked over to the firing range and was quickly handed a FN SCAR-H assault rifle to utilize. Roy took aim down range and began to pick off targets. It felt different using firearms when comparing it to his former longbow - they could hold more rounds and were infinitely deadlier - as Speedy, his arrows were blunted so they would be non-lethal, but these bullets were lethal. However, the concept between these weapons wasn't that much different, and Roy proved himself a master marksman.

After several operations more, and strong approval ratings from Colonel Ruiz (and begrudgingly from Hollingsworth, who consistently showed major signs of disgust when he dealt with Raven and Jinx, and the couple in turn never took pleasure in meeting with him because of his homophobia and prejudice to metas like themselves), Raven and Jinx were finally permitted to move off base.

With the two now able to live anywhere, they decided to go house shopping. There were a couple of houses the two had been considering, and they began narrowing it down to somewhere west of the Mississippi, since they wanted to be close to Fort Pell.

Then, they continued to cut it down by looking at states where same-sex couples would be accepted. That proceeded to cut down their choices to New Mexico, Washington State, California, Oregon, Colorado, and Nevada. From there, they agreed not to move back to California, as they really did not want to reignite tensions between them and the Titans, especially Nightwing, Starfire, and Beast Boy.

Now, they began looking at houses in each of their possible states, a place that was well within their price range, which would technically be around four million dollars or so, given how they had laundered money from several operations, and Colonel Ruiz looked the other way.

They were meeting with one of their real estate agents, a Miss Sandra Rickles, one of the few real estate agents who would ultimately take them as a client as everyone else was either prejudiced against them or afraid of them.

She brought the two of them over to a nice two story five bedroom, four bath house in Washington State. The red jacket clad saleswoman cheerily said, "And here is a nice property out in the suburbs of Olympia. The place is near a park and a school. What do you think?"

Raven began, "Uh, this isn't the type of place we're looking for. We want a place that's more secluded, less in the city. We won't be at home as often, and I don't think we'd fit in really well with the families here. You have anything else?"

Miss Rickles began looking back on her tablet to see if there were any other properties that would appeal to Raven and Jinx but remarked, "I've got one more property available in the state if you girls are interested. Out in the woods. Care to take a look?"

Jinx examined the first glimpse of the property before remarking, "Uh, we're looking for something a little less secluded. Thanks anyway, but we'll be looking for something else. Sorry."

With that, Raven and Jinx walked away with their real-estate agent in Washington, now looking for another property that would suit their needs.

Jinx inquired to her girlfriend, "Now what?"

Raven responded, "We have an hour before we have our appointment with the agent in Nevada. And tomorrow we check out properties in Oregon and New Mexico."

"I don't know about you but I really don't want to live in New Mexico. I hear they intend to build a prison near there for metas. That doesn't exactly make me feel comfortable."

"So, we'll cancel the New Mexico appointment. Come on, we need to get to Carson City."

Raven engulfed herself and Jinx in soul-self before heading on out towards Carson City for their next meeting with a real estate agent who hoped to sell them a house. There were six states they were considering, and now there were three. They hoped that this would give them a legitimate possibility as to where they might live while not on missions.

Just as the two of them arrived in Carson City, Raven found a brochure for a casino way south in Las Vegas. Jinx asked, "Interested in gambling, huh?"

Raven snarked, "No, with your luck, I doubt we'd be successful. Let's try to avoid Vegas the...actually, I think we should avoid Nevada as a whole."

"What do you mean Raven?" The demonling showed Jinx the brochure in detail and saw the picture that changed Raven's opinion of the state - stage magician Zatanna Zatara was a regular performer down in Vegas, and when not on the Watchtower, lived in one of the many suburbs of Las Vegas.

Given how Raven and Zatanna have a difficult relationship, the couple both agreed to cancel the appointment in Nevada, just leaving two states: Oregon and Colorado.

While Raven and Jinx were trying to find a house and encountering the various difficulties of locating a suitable place, one relatively quiet and tolerant, life continued on for everyone else, even the Titans.

Nightwing and Starfire were going steady, as if their frequent sex-capades weren't enough of a sign (which the other Titans really disliked). They became so noisy that Cyborg installed sound-suppressing walls inside each room so they could block out any noise they want to - especially the sound of the grown-up Boy Wonder and his Tamaranean girlfriend getting it on.

Cyborg and Beast Boy were still luckless in love, as Cyborg and Bumblebee broke up around the time the Titans East dissolved and Beast Boy was still trying (very unsuccessfully) to get Persephone, the former Terra, to return the feeling, which wasn't mutual.

As for Persephone, she ultimately decided not to get into the dating scene - it was just so much pressure that she was relieved to be off her shoulder. She doubted she could ever find the one for her - Raven found Jinx, the two were so much alike and Jinx had provided a sympathetic ear for Raven's torments and Nightwing had Starfire, a couple that worked by the principle of opposites, the human, street-wise crime fighter and the alien, powered, and often-naive princess. Though, their combat skill was a shared asset.

If the principle of opposites was true, then Beast Boy would likely have gotten Raven - the two were exact opposites as the changeling was loud, obnoxious, and showy whilst Raven was quiet, introverted, and shy. Or he would have gotten Persephone.

What did Terra see in him when they first met? What did he see in her? And apparently, whatever he saw in her he sees in me, even though I am nothing like her, except in body and power but not in mentality.

It was true - Lisa was loyal to the Titans while Terra sold them out to Slade, a controversial action that some never forgave. But, now that Terra's old personality was gone, Lisa had little reason to join Slade's side, if any.

She didn't have a relationship but that didn't mean her adoptive father did not pester her about it. She could easily remember when Mr. Walters was arguing with her about it.

It was a few days before All Saint's Day, the one where Raven left the team to go with Jinx, Gizmo, and Mammoth. Lisa had been a part of a fight with the White Monster, having taken Raven's place on the team.

Realizing the hour of the day, Lisa immediately rushed home where Mr. Walters, her adoptive father, was waiting for her. She was only partially with the Titans, only when Raven finally left did she permanently become a Titan.

He asked, "Where have you been, Lisa?"

Lisa replied, "Out with some friends."

"Really, which friends? Jazmyn and Maeve both claim you weren't with them today. In fact, you haven't been with them for a while. Where were you?"

"With some new friends." Boy, he's a bigger pain in the ass than Robin.

"Don't tell me you're in a goddamn relationship."

"I'm not in a relationship, dad. I'm still a virgin."

"Don't lie to me. When I got your medical records when I adopted you, it said you didn't have a hymen. Ergo, you're not a virgin. Who is the boy?"

"I'm not in a relationship."

"Then who were you with?"

"It's complicated, dad." Lisa proceeded to walk away from Mr. Walters as he followed her.

"Define complicated."

"I have no memory of who I am. Zilch, nada. I have the knowledge base but no identity. I don't remember my first time doing it. I don't."

"Do you have any idea then of what happened back then?"

"What do you know about the Titans?"

"Let's see, there are five core members, Robin, the Boy Wonder, Beast Boy, the shape-shifter, Starfire, the alien, Cyborg, the robot, and Raven, the witch. They also had for a short while a sixth member, Terra until she turned to stone to save the city."

"Dad, apparently in my now forgotten past, I was Terra."

"That seems a little implausible. It seems hard to get out of stone."

Suddenly, a couple of rocks floated into the air around Mr. Walters. "Well how about to manipulate it? How I got out is sketchy to me, but the first thing I remember was running through a cave wearing just bandages and some sort of armor."

"How do you know, then?"

"The people I've been hanging out with are the Titans. And from the looks of it, they are starting to fall apart."

After that conversation, Mr. Walters had a long talk with the males of the group and ultimately they convinced him to let Lisa stay on as a Titan, though as long as Lisa continued and finished school, which she did.

Raven, wearing a green chemise and blue shorts and Jinx, in a pink dress that went down just above her knees, went to their appointment in Salem, Oregon with their real estate agent who would help them find a house. Upon arriving in the city, they met with Mrs. Charlene Park, one of the few realtors in the state that would meet with them.

Mrs. Park greeted, "Oh, hello, you must be Miss Roth."

Raven insisted, "Call me Raven."

"And you must be Miss Dasgupta." As she shook Jinx's hand, Jinx declared, "Call me Jinx."

"Okay then, let's get down to business. You two want to buy a house. Where have you looked?"

Raven answered, "Right now, we're considering either something here or something in Colorado."

"Well, I'm sure there are plenty of properties here you would find of interest to you. Come, let's check them out."

After a few hours checking out possible properties with Mrs. Park, Raven and Jinx returned to Fort Pell to rest. Jinx inquired, "So, are there any possibilities?"

Raven replied, "There are a couple of places there I think could work. The place in Mill City seemed promising. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, basement, and a cost of four hundred ninety thousand."

"Yeah, that place would work, but I preferred the house in Detroit. Very few people nearby and a pretty big house, six bedrooms, five bathrooms, kitchen, living area, pool, and basement for just five hundred twenty three thousand."

"I know where you're going with this Jinx, but I don't think we'd be home enough to fully utilize all the features. And I'm not entirely sure that the people of Detroit exactly minded us."

"Who the fuck cares about them? Jump didn't exactly have the best relationship with you, did it really matter?"

"No, Jinx. I didn't. Maybe Detroit is a possibility. We've got an appointment tomorrow with the agent in Adams County, Colorado."

"Our last appointment. If we find our house there, we'll be living in Colorado. If not, it's the state of Oregon for us."

The next day, Raven and Jinx found the house they were looking for over in Federal Heights, Colorado. It was two stories with a basement out in the woods where they would not be completely isolated. It had full utilities, a kitchen, five bedrooms, four bathrooms, including one with a jacuzzi and two with showers, a fairly spacious living room, and was easy to fortify, and all for a cost of four hundred twelve thousand.

The two quickly agreed that the house was for them and decided to buy for the full price. Now, it was time to sign and pay for the house. Instead of going to the bank for a mortgage, Raven and Jinx withdrew the money from their joint Swiss bank account, now all American dollars, and handed it to the owners of the house they were buying it from.

With the house bought and paid for, it was now time for the two to wait until the previous owners, an elderly couple whose four children had moved on away from them, moved out, before they could move in. And they had a lot of stuff to move into the house and to buy for it. As well as to ward the house, just like they did with their bases during extended missions.

Roughly ten days after Raven and Jinx bought the house, the former owners had finished moving out, so the couple could now move in. Raven first went back to Jump in order to get the things she placed in the storage facility under her Byrd alias while Jinx was getting the bulk of her stuff from the storage facility at Fort Pell in order to bring it over to their new house in Federal Heights, Colorado.

After getting their things all brought to the house, the two began to work on getting it all organized. It took a few hours, but they eventually got everything settled in.

The largest bedroom, which was on the first floor next to the living room, was made as Raven and Jinx's room, with the two using the couple's king-side bed. Raven moved her old bed upstairs into one of the guest rooms upstairs while Jinx did the same. In the living room, Raven assembled her collection of books and artifacts while Jinx set up her alchemy lab downstairs in the very spacious basement.

The couple finished unpacking, storing a number of their things downstairs in the basement away from Jinx's alchemy lab, where the two would experiment with their magic.

With everything done in the house, Raven and Jinx began to place the wards around their house. As Raven began to weave the magic around the house, Jinx began chanting, "Swali megide ọkụ megide ışınlanma megide ida megide wakposịrị rụọ ọrụ."

A burst of black and pink energy swirled around their house, covering every inch of it until a set of bright pink lines appeared across the house before vanishing, indicating that the wards had been successfully planted. Now nobody could get into their house or destroy it without their permission.

Now that the couple had finished warding the house, Raven said, "Now that the house is done, let's go grocery shopping. There's a store in town we can shop at. Let's go."

Raven, wearing her favorite blue halter top (Jinx's first gift to her) engulfed Jinx, who wore a dark pink skirt with small black shorts and herself in soul-self and brought them out to Federal Heights so they could do their grocery shopping.

Upon arriving at the store, Bailey & Family Grocers, Raven and Jinx entered the small store, which seemed more in size of a convenience store.

As soon as they walked in, an almost familiar voice rang out throughout the store. "Wow, so the rumors were all true. Raven and Jinx sitting in a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g."

Jinx asked, "Raven, do you know who it is? I sure as hell don't know."

Raven replied, "Well hello there, Kitten. It's been a while."

Jinx was confused and mouthed, "Who?" Then, the blonde walked away from the cash register and walked up to the only other customers in the store - Kitten's hair wasn't as long as it was a few years earlier - now residing at the length of her chin. She was wearing a light green shirt with jeans as well as an identification tag that said KITTEN.

Raven said, "Jinx, I'd like you to meet Kitten van Cleef, Killer Moth's daughter. Kitten, I'd like you to meet Nirupama Dasgupta, my girlfriend."

Kitten greeted, "Nice to meet you, Jinx. I'm surprised we never met, even with the whole Brotherhood thing."

Jinx commented, "Ya know, why weren't you in the final battle? You went after Starfire, but why weren't you there in the end?"

"Before I could return to the Brotherhood base, I was attacked by some Russian Captain America who took me down. I made a deal with the police where I would lead one of the Brotherhood into a trap so the remaining Titans could infiltrate the base. After that, I was sent here and given a nice piece of jewelry." Kitten flashed her leg, revealing a monitoring anklet.

"How long do you have to wear the anklet, Kitten?"

"Four more years and a couple hundred more hours of community service, and I am as free as a jaybird. Though I'm grateful that daddy and Fang are still frozen along with the rest of the Brotherhood. They wouldn't approve."

"Really, Kitten? Aren't parents supposed to be supportive? Shouldn't they be? Well, I'm sure that he'd be more supportive than Raven's parents."

"I'd rather we not go into that, Jinx. So, how is life treating you Kitten?"

"I've got a steady job and a place to live. Not quite as good as back with daddy, but better than prison. So, how about you guys?"

"We just moved in a few miles away. We've got pretty good, but secretive jobs."

"Yeah, so let's finish this grocery shopping. Say, what do you have for liquor?"

"Remember, Jinx. I don't process alcohol as a normal person would, so if you are trying to get me drunk, think again."

"Well, Jinx, we do have alcohol but I need to see an ID. I'd rather not get in more shit than I'm in now for selling alcohol to a minor."

"Nice to see you're no longer heading for the wrong side of the law."

"Thanks, Raven."

With that, Raven and Jinx went grocery shopping at Bailey & Family, getting several packages of tea, a few bottles of white and red wine, a bag of rice, a bag of noodles, some candy bars, two pounds of fish, a jar of a white cream sauce, a bag of sourdough bread, a pound and a half of ground chuck, three bags of assorted mixed vegetables, and a bottle of olive oil.

After ringing up all their purchases and checking Jinx's ID which accurately said she was twenty-one, Kitten said, "That will be one hundred ninety seven dollars and sixty three cents."

Jinx slid Kitten two hundred dollar bills and remarked, "Keep the change." After paying for their groceries, Raven and Jinx brought them back to their house to store in the kitchen until dinner later that evening.

After placing the groceries away, the two went back into town to continue shopping, buying a tea machine for Raven and a bunch of pots and pans for cooking.

The couple enjoyed a nice dinner of maccher jhal that evening after finishing up their errands, prepared by Raven and Jinx themselves.

With food out of the way, and it was getting kind of late, so the two ultimately decided to test out the jacuzzi upstairs, and they each slipped into their swimwear, which they had acquired from Gizmo as a Christmas present last year, which they found nice, if slightly distasteful. Raven wore a light blue bikini that highlighted the tattoos that ran down her body, leaving a teasing bit of cleavage up above while Jinx put on a purple one piece that looked a bit like Raven's old leotard but without sleeves and was showing quite a bit of Jinx's back. After changing, Jinx went down and grabbed a bottle of red wine and two glasses before returning to the bathroom.

Turning on the jacuzzi, Raven and Jinx waited until it was nearly full and hot before getting in, sitting their petite bodies inside as Jinx began pouring two glasses of red wine.

After she finished pouring the glasses, Jinx gave one of them to Raven and the two toasted to their new house. Jinx said, "Cheers."

Raven replied back, "Cheers" and they clinked their glasses before taking a nice long gulp from them.

The two spent several minutes sitting in the jacuzzi, taking in the hot water before their horniness began to kick in and their lips joined together in a passionate kiss.

As they kissed, their hands proceeded to wander all around their bodies, with Raven's proceeding to slide Jinx's swimsuit off of her body, exposing her breasts to the demonling. Jinx meanwhile untied Raven's bra as she began working on her panties.

Their kiss continued as they began rolling through the bathroom before Raven levitated the two off of the ground, passing through the open doors of their house before arriving back in their master bedroom.

Colonel Ruiz began, "Hello, gentlemen."

Roy replied, "Hello, sir. Why did you call us here?"

"Straight to the point are we? Then, let's begin. I've got your first mission for you."

"Okay, sir what is it?"

"Alright, Corporal Curry, we need you two in Dhaka, Bangladesh. A top-secret government scientist was killed six hours ago in Dhaka. This operative, Doctor George Slack, was working on a top secret program known as Alexandria."

"What is the program?"

"We don't know, Corporal Harper. His research was stolen by his killer. We need you to retrieve the program, find his killer, and who they were working for."

"Nothing like a good old crime scene investigation to start off our career with Perseus. Do you have any idea who we're after?"

Colonel Ruiz turned a monitor with a picture of a Vietnamese woman with long black hair and blue eyes. "I think you recognize her, Roy."

"Cheshire."

"Jade Nguyen. Assassin for hire to the highest bidder. The Brotherhood hired her to assist them in the attack on the Titans. Former HIVE."

"You know, Roy, one thing always did confuse me? How did she get away in Paris?"

"Corporal Curry, Cheshire has a cloaking feature embedded in her mask. That's why she can stay invisible, which is why she eluded capture during your fight with the Brotherhood."

"When do we ship out? If we're going after Cheshire, we need to move now."

"Hold on, Harper. We currently have an operative keeping tabs on Cheshire, and we can confirm she will be performing another hit tomorrow. You two will be intercepting her before she makes that hit, retrieve the program, and interrogate her."

"And afterwards, once we have her?"

"Your call. You fly there in six hours. Get suited up, weapons, equipment, anything you need for the mission. And you now need codenames."

"Well I am definitely not going by Aqualad again. And I bet you're not going with Speedy."

"Damn right."

"Roy, in combat, call me Tempest."

"And Tempest, now I am Arsenal."

"Good job boys, now get ready for your flight. And get the program back."
