Chapter 11
**Hey everybody, I know its been literally so long since I last updated, just kinda lost my inspiration for a while there. But here goes, and as always I do not own the character they belong to ABC and Shonda Rhimes…please review!
Owens' P.O.V
I'm packing my work up to go to a meeting with the board about budgets and all that exciting stuff…I hear a knock at my door.
"Come in"
"You wanted to see me Chief Hunt?"
"Yes, Sheppard I'm going to this budget meeting with the board but I was wondering if u wouldn't mind running things around here for me today, I don't know how long this meeting will take and I'd feel better knowing that you were here taking care of things"
"Sure no problem, I have a few surgeries today but I'm sure I can handle them and do your job too" Derek says with a hint of resentment in his voice, but cockiness being the overall tone as usual.
"Great, well I left you a list of what I would like done when I'm gone"
I finish buckling the strap on my bag and grab my car keys, "good luck and thank you"
Erica's P.O.V
I'm really happy as I walk away from Callie's apartment and across to the hospital, I feel like today will be a good day, she says she willing to take thing slow and be friends first. It's more than I could have ever asked for after the way I treated her but I can tell she still has feelings for me, she did after all say "who knows what might happen". That means she's not completely closed to the idea of us being a couple again, and I know what will happen Callie, I'm gonna win you back.
I walk into the hospital and to the locker rooms to get changed, people still whisper and glare at me when I walk by but I don't care, I'm Erica Hahn, ice queen to everybody…except Callie. I could never keep her out, she's such a warm person, her smile and eyes the colour of hot cocoa just make me melt. I practically skip to the pit to see what's on offer, someone I don't recognise calls out "Doctor Hahn, I need you over here", he must be from the Mercy-West residency program and started here when the hospitals merged.
"What have you got Doctor…?" I say as I take the other side of the gurney. He avoids my question and starts telling me the patient information.
"Male, presents with a gunshot wound to the chest after colliding with another driver" he says as he applies more lap pads. a woman bursts through the door;
"Pete! Oh my God! Pete" I look at the nurse and see him pulling her back
" please wait, please….Pete" she pushes forward. My patient lifts his head to speak.
"This guy hit me, I stopped the car to give him my insurance card and he shoots me" he starts to code as I get the chest tube into place, she starts screaming his name. I say
"get her out of here, bag him and let's get him to surgery right now, clamp that, someone call the OR and let them know we're coming" his wife starts saying,
"please he's my husband let me say goodbye" he starts to seize,
"there's no time I yell" the resident says "there's always time let her say goodbye" I purse my lips and she says
"I love you, please don't die cause I love you" the nurse takes her out.
You wasted time I growl at him, Yang comes in looking excited
"You paged? You heading to the OR?"
"Yes but I need you to cover my post ops for me"
"Yes, Dr Hahn"
Callie's P.O.V
I see Erica running off with a patient on a gurney obviously heading for surgery, I see Karev and approach him, having receive a page from him. I see Arizona walking past her awkwardly to get to Karev and reminds me of my frustration.
"What?"
"Jason Perkins, six year old with a common tibia fracture, you know you could be nicer to me, he peed himself but I cleared it up before you got here"
"Sorry good man Alex, Thanks"
"Hey" I hear Arizona say I look at her and then ignore her going back to examine the X-ray in my hands. I go to examine my patient myself, it's a pretty nasty break which would normally excite me as it might need surgery but it's a Ped's case which means I'll have to see Arizona more today than I would like.
*Meanwhile Mr Clarke is looking for Derek, he shoots Reid in the head and Alex in the chest, Alex manages to pull himself into the elevator*
Derek's P.O.V
The door to Owen's office opens and Meredith walks in.
"You paged?"
"I like to see my wife every 48 hours, you didn't come home last night"
"I told you, Tuesday's I'm trolling for surgeries, last night a motorcyclist crashed his bike and ended up with bar jammed in the back of his skull and shadow Shepard let me do the extraction" she says excitedly.
"You know what I've been doing? Paper work, Owens gone off to some meeting and left me here in charge, doing paper work! you know what I've got to look forward to today? More paperwork! I'd love to have something jammed in my brain, that way I'd see the inside of an OR"
"Ok, well are you going to be home tonight? I thought we could order inand I've got some stuff to tell you" I tell her I'll be there and I see her smile out of the corner of my eye.
"I hate how happy you are" I say only half joking.
"Derek there's going to be a lot of dirty sex for you tonight, look forward to that."
Erica's P.O.V
The surgery is going pretty badly the patients losing a lot of blood and he starts to crash as yang comes in.
"Not a good time Yang….Damn damn it! He's going into v-fib, charge the paddles" I shock him and do everything I can but he flat lines and I call time of death, I leave to scrub in and Yang follows me.
"Yes Yang?"
"Doctor Hahn, Mr Lydian has haemolytic anaemia and elevated LDH I suspect post-operative TTP, should I start plasmapheresis?"
"Yes, good catch Doctor Yang, I'll be up shortly to check on him myself, I got to notify this man's family" I say nodding to the man lying lifeless on the operating table.
*Meanwhile April finds Reid's body, tripping over her and getting covered in her blood, she runs to the Chief's office looking for Owen, but finds Derek instead. In shock she ramble on about growing up on a farm, until Derek gets what's wrong out of her, she tells him that Reid's Dead and Someone shot her. Meanwhile Christina meet Mr Clarke in the Elevator*
Christina's P.O.V
Going to meet Meredith for coffee after having started the plasmapheresis on Mr Lydian, I get on the elevator and this man is standing there, I push the button and get on.
"Excuse me Miss, you wouldn't happen to know where I could find Doctor Derek Shepard."
"I think he's filling in for the chief today so he'll be in the chiefs office" I smile at him, he must be a patient or something, he doesn't look sick, maybe he's the husband of a patient, whatever, why is this elevator moving so slow?!
"Thank-you…how do I get there? I've been there before but I keep going in circles"
"Oh it's in the east wing over by labs across the catwalk"
"Ummm?"
"if you cross through the patient floor on three and then follow the signs for the main lobby and then you should find it no problem"
"Thank-you" Silence falls and I start to feel a little awkward so I watch the doors waiting for my floor, the doors pings open and he makes a move to get out, he turns and says;
"Have a nice day"
"You too" I reply as the doors shut. God I need caffeine…oohhh and maybe a donut...mmmm!
*Alex is bleeding out in the elevator, Derek in on the phone to hospital security after having called the police and issues a lockdown, the police arrive and news cameras, Richard hurries to hospital and tried to help and contacts Owen whos phone is on silent due to being in a meeting*
Callies P.O.V
I'm just heading up to Ped's to check on Jason, when I receive a text from Erica asking if I wanna meet for coffee, after the day I've had so far I could definitely use one so I text back a quick yes and ask her to meet me on the Ped's floor. As soon as I walk through the door I see Arizona and regret my decision to ask Erica to meet me here, I don't think I could handle being around them both at once, I ask for Jason's chart and take out my phone to text Erica back and trying to ignore Arizona, but I hear the door and turn to see her walk in she smile at me and walks over,
"Ready for coffee?" I hear Arizona ask the Nurse something and the Nurse holds up a finger saying we're on lockdown, I look at Erica and then Arizona.
Arizona says "what? Why?"
"Come on" I groan
"It joke right, like a drill or something" says Erica flatly, all our pagers go off and it says code black.
"Not a Joke" say Arizona looking at me and the Nurses.
****ok gonna leave it there for now, dum dum dum! Sorry again for this having taken months to be posted, will try to update more regularly now I havemore time on my hands. As always everything belonging to Grey's and Shondaland. Hope you like the changes I've made so far to fit it in with my story. Please feel free to comment as they do help a lot! :)**
