Summary: Rima will always be Rima, but maybe that's the worst part about her. (One sided Rimahiko)
Notes: Haiii! A little something to make me get back into writing. I HAVE been writing but I told myself I wouldn't post anything until I finish this other one shot I was working on and it restricted me and I couldn't write anymore. Not. Good. XDD. Well, at least this way, Jo and I re-entered the fandom together. :3
Title: Because This Is
(she wonders if anything could ever change her)
"I like you! Will you please go out with me!?" the boy yells and his eyes closed, bracing, bracing, for the reply, but Rima's just standing there, bored, because this has happened so many times before.
She knows what to do and she's not scared of doing it anymore. Because what is condemning one of her fanboys to a day of sobbing compared to a whole relationship? Relationships are painful.
She'll never change that mindset of hers―Relationships seem fluffy and cute when you start out, but slowly, slowly, they'll tear you apart in the inside, and all you're left with is a shell of what was before.
But when Amu finally gets Ikuto to stay in one place, Yaya and Kairi start acting shy around each other, and Kukai and Utau are starting to get unbearably sweet, she doesn't have the heart to tell them that one day it'll all fall apart.
Just like her parents.
(he could probably change her)
"No," Rima says delicately but clearly, because that's all it really takes to crush the hopeful look on the fanboy's face. This routine is getting mundane, really. Rima doesn't feel pain anymore, she doesn't feel the wince, the guilt. She doesn't, okay?
The boy stares at her for a few seconds and―those tears, it's been awhile since she's seen tears fall.
He runs away and she walks away, sighing. She hopes Amu won't ask why she suddenly needs a hug.
This is why she would never confess. This is why she'll keep this little firefly trapped in the cage, so it would never fly out and illuminate her world. She doesn't need love. Love hurts. She doesn't want to know what it feels like to have that little firefly suddenly disappear and leave her alone. She doesn't want to know the light and then have it taken away from her.
But maybe someday, he'll come back from Europe, China, America, wherever he is and she can be around him again. And maybe he'll come to his senses and realize that they are meant for each other and the stupidest thing he ever did was leave.
Maybe he'll confess to her and she'll say yes.
But Rima knows that improbable, impossible. Because love hurts too much and she'll never ever say yes. What's one day of sobbing compared to a relationship that's bound to leave her hopelessly empty?
(It's bliss because she wants it so bad)
(because it's him)
Notes: Hope you enjoyed it!
Y'all should totally check out Jo-chan's new multi-chapter, Ghost (By ADorkyFangirl). Because. It. Is. A. Piece. Of. Art.
