Ch 22 Snow Descends Upon The World Part 1

Day 148

November 29, 2012

During morning in the third-floor hallway.

Kurumi- "I can start at any time."

Yuki- "Then here we go."

Running can be done wherever I want….and I can practice whenever I want.

But what I can't experience anywhere else is…

The tension I get at the moment when I hear the starting signal and sudden life-threatening events.

Yuki- "Then ready-set...GO!"

*Dash*

*Sprint Foward*

*Sheesh*

Yuki- "*Click*..."

I just passed Yuki while she stops the stopwatch.

Kurumi- "*Pant*...*Pant*..."

Kurumi- "*Pant*...*Pant*...What's the time?"

Yuki- "Hm."

She turns and made me look at the stopwatch.

Kurumi- "OH MY GOD!"

I was shocked that, I didn't do so good.

Yuki wonders why I'm so shocked.

Yuki- "What's wrong?"

Now I felt a little depressed about it as I explained why to her.

Kurumi- "My time is in free fall. I guess It's 'cause I've been skipping practice."

Kurumi- "I really need to get myself back on track."

Yuki- "Hey, Kurumi-chan...could It be…"

Yuki- "Because of the shovel you're carrying?"

I was shocked I didn't notice I was carrying my shovel.

Kurumi- "Ah, you're right!"

?- "Nah, that is fine."

We turn around and It's Senpai.

Yuki- "Morning Zach-kun."

Kurumi- "Morning."

Zach- "Morning, you two~"

Zach- "Can I see how well she did senpai?"

Yuki handed him the stopwatch.

Zach- "Decent, very decent."

Zach- "I had experienced holding that shovel of yours, and judging from the minutes on this stopwatch while that thing is on your back, you could at least carry a small person like senpai over here or Ruu and run on that speed."

I don't know if that was an insult or a compliment. Although I still thanks him.

Kurumi- "T-Thanks...I guess."

Yuki- "Hey I'm not small!"

He pats Yuki's head.

Zach- "Sure you are senpai no need to denied it~"

She pouts at him while hitting him lightly on the stomach.

Then he stops petting her as she looks at me.

He smirks, I don't know why but I have a bad feeling about that smirk.

Zach- "By the way Kurumi, I'm quite jealous of your love for the shovel. Why didn't you just marry it already~"

Yuki happened to notice what I'm doing and she smirks too.

Yuki- "Yes, why not Kurumi~"

Kurumi- "What?!"

I knew it!

Yuki and Zach- "Fufufufu~"

It's irritating to see them teaming up to tease me like this but...

I-I better come out a good excuse for them not to laugh at me.

Kurumi- "Well, hm. They say "When you're proficient with a tool, It becomes part of your body" Don't they? You never know when I'll get an ultimate skill with this?"

I said while feeling self-conscious.

Zach- "PFTT?!"

Zach was about to burst out in laughter but he managed to hold it.

I suddenly blush while looking frustrated that I said a corny excuse.

Yuki- "Now what? Do you want to time it without the shovel?"

I even felt embarrassed now that Yuki just totally ignore what I just said.

I want to move on from this already and forget this has ever happened.

Kurumi- "No, It's okay. I'm fine with that."

I said while turning around and start walking back to the clubroom.

Yuki- "Eh, Kurumi-chan! Where are you going?"

Kurumi- "Back to the clubroom and eat breakfast."

Yuki- "Ehh~ Wait for us!"

Zach- "...*Smiles*"

.

We just got to the clubroom and saw Yuuri, Ruu, and Megu-nee has already done preparing breakfast for us.

Yuki- "Good morning~!"

Yuuri- "Good morning."

Megumi- "Morning Yuki-chan."

Ruu- "Morning Yuki."

Yuki notices It's rice and miso for breakfast today.

While I notice there's more food on the table.

Yuki- "Ah, It's rice!"

She said while shining in happiness and drooling.

Yuuri- "Which one do you want, Yuki-chan?"

She also notices we have corned beef as she goes and checks the rice cooker.

Yuki- "Beef in the morning! Wh-What a feast."

Kurumi and I went to check the food.

Kurumi- "Are you from Showa Period? Ah, I'll take the Salamon"

Zach- "I'll get whatever I like."

I looked at Ruu.

Zach- "Ruu have you pick one yet?"

Ruu- "I already did."

Then I looked at Megu-nee.

Zach- "Is that so, how about you Megu-nee."

Megumi- "I already did~."

Yuuri- Okay, now...`"

I looked at Yuuri and Yuuri smiles at me, I guess she already did.

So I choose what to eat and all of us went to take a sit on our chairs.

Yuuri- "Okay, now-"

Everyone- "We're digging in."

While we're eating.

Yuki- "Fu-fu-fu-fun-fu-fu-fu*~"

Yuuri- "Yuki-chan is in a good mood this morning."

*Yuki Munching*

Yuki- "Yeah I thought up something awesome."

*Kurumi Slurping Miso Soup*

Yuuri- "You said that last night. What is it?"

Yuki looks surprised as she looks down.

Zach- "..."

Megumi- "What happened last night?"

Ruu- "Yeah, Nii-san."

Zach- "Let me explained."

While I briefly explained what happened last night to these two, Yuki stood up from her chair and said.

Yuki- "Let's go...on a field trip! A FIELD TRIP!"

Everyone Except Yuuri and Yuki- "Huh? A field trip?"

This surprised a few of us. Kurumi, Yuuri and I were slightly annoyed instead surprised because this is what she was talking about. Is this worth waking me up including Kurumi, Yuuri in the middle of the night? Ridiculous.

Yuki- "It's almost the season for field trips, Right?!"

Yuki- "Megu-nee would understand!"

She looks at Megu-nee as she claps her hand while looking excited.

Megumi- "Of course~"

Kurumi- "If Megu-nee agrees, I guess so."

Then she sits down while smirking.

Yuki- "Fufufu- I realized that…"

Yuki- "The school life club has to live in school without leaving it! But going on a school event doesn't count as leaving school!"

All of us think what she just said

Since we're not giving her any answer she starts looking for one.

Yuki- "Right?"

Yuuri and Ruu- "..."

Yuki- "Right?"

Kurumi just looked the other way.

Yuki- "Right?"

Now she's looking at me and Megu-nee.

Megumi- "Yuki-chan-"

Megu-nee was about to answer but I interrupt her.

Zach- "Yeah, that's right! We need to go on a field trip."

I gave Megu-nee a wink, just to let her know I got this.

She gets it.

Yuki- "See, Zach-kun understands!"

Then Kurumi response.

Kurumi- "No, no isn't that strange? Going on a field trip isn't what a club would do, right?"

Yuki turns to look at her very seriously.

Yuki- "Kurumi-chan, you're too rigid! If there's a will, there's a way!"

Kurumi- "Ugh…"

She felt slightly annoyed by that.

Yuuri- "If that's the case, ET's fill out a form for permission for us to leave school. We need to show it to Megu-nee."

Yuki- "Fufufu…"

Then she took out a folded paper from her pocket as she showed us what it was.

Yuki- "Tada!"

Kurumi grabs it and reads it.

Kurumi- "Mm…"

Then Yuuri looks at Megu-nee. This is her call as an adviser to this club.

Yuuri- "Megu-nee?

Then she looks at me.

Zach- "Totally up to you Megu-nee."

Megu-nee thinks about it a bit and then…

Megumi- "Yes, let's go on a field trip."

Yuki celebrates.

Yuki- "Yay! Then I'll get my things ready!"

Yuki- "Thanks for the meal!"

Then she stood up and left the clubroom in a hurry.

I let out a sigh.

Zach- "Since you agreed to have a field trip, I have something meaning to ask all of you right now before she comes back."

I caught everyone's attention.

Zach- "Because this is very important for you all to know…"

After we finished eating breakfast, I and Kurumi went down to the school campus and did our daily routine, you'll already know what it is since I mention it to you before.

Anyway once that's finished, It's time for the field trip.

Right now we're on the parking lot. Megu-nee is about to announce something to everyone.

Megumi- "U-Um, Ahem! Can I get everyone's attention."

She got everyone's attention, including me.

Megumi- "Before we go in, I would like to check if we have everything for the field trip."

Everyone- "Yes~"

Megumi- "Then…"

Megumi- "Glowstick."

Everyone- "Check."

Megumi- "Food and Water."

Yuuri and Yuki- "Check."

Megumi- "Weapons."

Kurumi & Zach & Ruu- "Check."

Megumi- "Okay, looks like we're good to go~"

Yuuri and Yuki are carrying a bag of food and water also some serums for us while I carry some of our weapons. Just melee weapons like a few kitchen knives and the "Special Weapon", not those ones I have hidden.

Yuki- "Finally! I have been waiting for hours!"

Ruu- "You're too excited Yuki."

Ruu- "There's nothing good about this."

Yuki- "Booboo! You're killing the mood Ruu-chan!"

Zach- "Hey, senpai put your bag inside the trunk."

Yuki- "Yes~"

Ruu...she has been like against this field trip since I ended our important talk in the clubroom during breakfast.

I want to talk to her but since we're about to go, maybe later.

Once Yuki put her bag inside the trunk, Ruu put her weapon in too as I closed it.

Zach- "Megu-nee!"

I called out her name as she came.

Megumi- "Yes Zach?"

Zach- "I'll be leading the way while you'll be fallow me behind."

Zach- "Because I'm more familiar with the roads and know which is a dead end."

Megumi- "Sure."

Zach- "Ah, and can you check if you still have gas on your car?"

She went to check by starting the engine of her car.

Megumi- "Yes, I still have enough for an entire day."

Zach- "Entire day...hmm, I guess first we need to stop at the gas station just to make sure we can come back here without any problem."

Megumi- "Seems so."

Zach- "Well who would you be taking? I know our car can only fit around 5 people in."

Megumi- "Well..."

Megumi- "It seems like It's already decided~"

She points as I look at our car.

Zach- "Give me a break, we have two cars because of this!"

Everyone was trying to go inside my car.

Megumi- "How about you let the girls have mine and we both be alone on your car."

Zach- "You're asking for a trouble to happen Megu-nee."

Megumi- "Of course not~"

She said while looking obviously like that's her intention from the start.

I let out a sigh.

In the end, I took Ruu with me while Megu-nee deals with the other three. She's a little disappointed about this but I won't fall for her scheme and I don't want to increase her affection towards me even more.

Once everyone is ready, I start my engine and start driving.

While we're on the road heading to the closest gas station to fill up gas, I use this opportunity to talk to Ruu about why she's acting grouchy. Well, she doesn't talk much but her expression and short response kinda sound like that.

Zach- "Ruu, is there something bothering you?"

Ruu- "!..."

She flinches a bit but she's didn't answer me and looks the other way.

I guess I have to bring out the reason why she's like this.

Zach- "Are you upset about our important talk during breakfast time?"

Then she faces me.

Ruu- "...Yes, I was!"

She looks irritated a little.

Ruu- "Why are we going back to the city?! Isn't dangerous already!"

Ruu- "And...And if that were to happen we...I just don't like this!"

Shiro- "It called preparation Ruu. Preparing actually saves you time, reduces errors, prevents re-work, and shortens activities. It also reduces your stress because when you are ready, you are confident."

Ruu- "Well It doesn't help since I'm worried!"

I get it why she is because I really don't know what's happening in the city anymore and anything bad can happen.

Shiro- "Ruu, remember it didn't happen yet nor we even know if it will happen."

Shiro- "Which is why I decided to bring out that topic to you all except Yuki, to let you all know what to do when something bad were to happen."

Ruu- "But I just don't like it...it worries me so much."

I want to pat her head but I can't since I have to keep my eye on the road.

Zach- "Ruu, take a deep breath and exhale. Then relax as you stop thinking about the topic I brought out and be happy we're going on a trip with everyone."

Ruu- "...I'll try…"

I smile when she said that as she starts trying.

When she's done I decided to talk to her about something.

Zach- "You know what this reminds me of?"

Ruu- "What?..."

Zach- "In every apocalypse movie I saw there's always a scene where people riding in a car on a road leading beyond the faraway regions."

Zach- "Leaving their past behind, they go on a journey towards the sunset."

Ruu- "It's still afternoon."

She said with a straight face. This made me almost drop the conversation but I continue.

Zach- "J-Just go with the flow and think Its evening."

Ruu- "Mm."

Zach- "Anyway ahem where was I...Ah."

Zach- "It almost feels like we're like them right now~"

Ruu- "Hmm, I do see the connection a bit Nii-san."

Zach- "Haha, that's good to know at least."

A moment of silence for a while, then...

Ruu- "Zach."

Zach- "?!."

Did she just call my name?

Ruu- "I know you mention this during your important talk but I won't leave you behind."

Ruu- "I'll never do that. So if that were to happen, I'm just saying I'm going to follow you."

Ruu- "You did so much for Ruu, that Ruu couldn't think of something greater to repay you."

Ruu- "Afterall, you save my life and show me there's still hope to live for and reunite with my older sister."

Ruu- "In the bottom of my heart, Ruu will never forget that and will always follow you even "That" were to happen."

Ruu- "Because Ruu loves Zach so much."

Ruu- "Ruu…"

I smile and pretend that wasn't a confession but something else. Man, I'm a heartless person.

Ruu- "I don't know if your older sister agrees with this but thanks, I'm not against your decision and I love you too as a friend."

She was shocked, then she pouts as she crossed her arm.

Ruu- "Nii-san, Idiot."

Zach- "Ahaha...why are you mad all of sudden."

Ruu- "Because of your an idiot."

Zach- "Ehhh? That doesn't explain anything."

Ruu- "Hmpm!"

She looks the other way.

I let out a sigh.

Zach- "Sorry…"

Then she faces me right away.

Ruu- "Hm? Why are you apologizing?"

Zach- "It's nothing, ehehe."

Zach- "..."

Sorry, I couldn't accept your feelings...Ruu.

And I can't let you follow me if "That" were to happen.
